Tempting as hell, but I must pass. A bit too last-minute and I'd rather save my money for future stuffs. Have a blast, people. Seeing AKB48 is a ton of fun.

I expect reports full of fun experiences and gushing over how cute Takahashi Juri is.

Also - ticket page is up - you join a waiting list. http://j-pop-concert-akb48-esearch.eventbrite.com/?srnk=1

Not sure if the waiting list is just until the tickets go on sale or just how things are working.

I just emailed them to find out when you know if you got tix.

UPDATE - They've taken the waiting list page down, but they replied to my email and said that tickets go on sale at 10 am.

This is the best news ever. Just a week ago I was thinking about how I saw Jero performing at the 09 Cherry Blossom Festival. I thought about the possibility of AKB performing there but thought it would be highly unlikely. A week later, this announcement of them appearing there + performing a FREE concert at the Lincoln theater, close to home...I can't even process all of this.

Is anyone from central PA or beyond planning to drive down? I'd love to hitch a ride with you, then.

Otherwise, does anyone have experience with Amtrak & the DC metro? Train tickets are cheap enough, but I have no experience with that system and area

If your getting off of Union station, I wouldn't mind help you out from there. I can get to Union in like 9-12mins and I can take you from there, but only thing is...I'm going to the 7:30 one

Now I gotta look for some cheap bus tickets. Can't decide whether to get there during the weekend or on Monday.

I know the metro very well. If you're staying at my place, we'll take the red line to Chinatown, then get a transfer up to U street

If you're Amtraking in for the day, from union station, take the red line to Chinatown and transfer to U street.

I have the day off and tickets for both shows.

They go to another Japanese event, rather than a normal concert.
When one day run out of tickets, what they think?

Weird ...

This is a normal concert. They aren't appearing at the actual street event, Sakura Matsuri - that's a weekend in April. They're coming during the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC (which lasts like a damn month). This isn't like an anime con or something. It's just a time when they invite a lot of Japanese performers and when the cherry blossoms are usually blooming.

The Lincoln Theater just isn't that huge is all
