They have changed, over the years, since their first meeting.

Yuko looks at Kei and tries to imagine the 17-year-old sitting in front of her.

She was nervous back then. Shy. Awkward.
Kei at 17 was the epitome of not-a-girl-not-yet-a-woman, of teenage imperfection.
She would not have sat quietly, like she does now, at 27, hands wrapped around her cup of tea, slowly sipping the hot liquid.

Back then, she would have burned her tongue.

Yuko tries to imagine her 25-year-old self sitting here, across from today's Kei, and fails miserably.

People often told her that she appeared too rude, too masculine for her own good. She would never find a man like that, they said.
Now, almost ten years later, she has changed and still has not found a man.

Instead, there is still Kei, and one way or another, she always will be, Yuko is sure of that.

It is one of the only constants in her life.

Yuko finds she is glad that at least a few things stay the same, no matter how much time passes.
