I can't be the only hiphop head in here  8)

Aight let's get down to business. First of all i wanna say Rest In Peace O.D.B. ODB was truely one of the greatest entertainers of our time and he will be missed. I've always been a huge fan of the Wu-Tang Clan so his death was a big shock to me.

RZA finally released Wu-Tang Manual and i all i can say is that it's definitely worth buying. GO COP THAT even if you don't like Wu-Tang. That book is filled with knowledge.

Last week some really big and hyped rap albums got leaked:
50 Cent - Massacre
Beanie Sigel - The B-Coming
Cormega - The Testament

After hearing all of them i gotta say that 50 has gotten even worse than he was on Get Rich Or Die Trying. His new album is pure garbage(like all G-Unit related releases).

Beanie Sigel's new joint is a nice suprise. He has improved a lot since his prerious album and he's definitely one of the best east coast thug rappers out there. Beans and the beats are pure fire but there's way too many guest stars.

Cormega finally dropped The Testament. The Testament was supposed to come out back in 98 but for reason some Def Jam never released it. Mega later bought the masters and the rest is history. The album is finally here and it doesn't disappoint. Beats are vintage late 90s style and Cormega is spitting some heat on the mic. RECOMMENDED

I'm not really into American rap. I mostly listen to J-Urban, though.

What happened to ODB? I didn't know he died. o_o

Being originally from Detroit... i gotsta pimp out some good old D-town Ghetto-Tech like DJ Assault, DJ Godfather, Disco D, Aux88, etc.
I'm also into some more low key stuff... RJD2, The Streets, Swollen Members and the like.  Oh yeah... i almost forgot... old skool ELECTRO too.
Radio/MTV rap and hiphop bore me.

Hmm...shoulda replied to this earlier...

I don't really have access to the underground shit so what I listened to was the commercial and whatever. Not that I could really find much on the radio. My buddy did give me a sampler of scratching and introduced me to "underground" acts like Jurassic 5. He supposedly knew a friend of a friend of DJ Q-Bert.

Shit I always listened to was the West Coast shit: 2Pac, N.W.A., Ice T, Snoop Dogg ... and East Coast: Public Enemy and YES. Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince. They make me laugh. "Girls ain't nothng but trouble"

Favorite act of all time: Wu-Tang esp. ODB and Method Man, RZA, GZA, Ghostface, U-God. Hell they're all good MC's. I need that fuckin Wu-Tang Manual!! Nothing beats them live.

Nowadays, East Coast is wack with Jay-Z and Puffy and their weak ass rhymes polluting the airwaves. At least PE or N.W.A. made you think with their lyrics. Now the "deep" songs are so simple. Like Twister feat. Faith Evans in that Coach Carter soundtrack. And that's what Nas is. Never liked him and I don't get why the media love him so much. Thanks to Puffy and Mase, rhyming is secondary. Any fucker can just talk over a beat and call it rapping. DMX had that gruff voice, which was promising.

And no need to go old school and resample the whole shitload like Missy Elliott. Or just be old like Beastie Boys.

I'd have to go with Thimas on this one, West Coast continues to rule. Dr. Dre's producing has influenced the Aftermath label. There's actually parts where the song, pauses, changes beat. So The Game is just pimping N.W.A. at least there's some sorta of beat and rhyming going on. Rap was and is always about being witty, having bravado... (aw man...to be continued cuz these brownies are kicking in)

It's all about delivery, not just the rhymes. Their voices are weak compared to Chuck D. Ice Cube. A good rapper is one who can spit it so hard that they're like drooling all over the microphone.

Even Eazy-E and Dr. Dre "100 Miles And Runnin" were eating it up. That's my measuring stick.

Jay-Z does have one of the best deliveries ever. He's up there with Eminem, Pharaohe Monch, Biggie and Gift Of Gab.

Eazy and Dre get no love from me, MCs should at least write their own lyrics.

Jay-Z is better with his hooks. Like on Foxy Brown's "I'll Be Good" and Biggie is a 2Pac rip off.

Nacchi and Aibon make cute rappers.

Shit...this is the first time I listened to Encore. "Ass Like That" has gotta to be the most disappointing song ever.

I don't listen to rap that much, but I listen to a lot of freestyles. I listen to Slug, Sage Francis, Eyedea, Blueprint, Brother Ali etc etc.

By the way, does anyone know a site where I can download freestyle battles? EmceeBattles.com and Mic-Wars.com have been down for some time.

Brother Ali is the man!
I love his Champion Ep and Shadows On The Sun album.
If you haven't heard them you should definitely check them out if you have a chance.
