Since no one mentioned it, there is an event level in Super Mario Maker featuring Babymetal. And of course you get a ?-mushroom with a Babymetal costume.

^ always thought those "so and so's" react to "such and such" were not
very real at all, but credit to the producers for putting together BabyMetal's
reaction to the original reactors....it was fun, and you can tell the girls really appreciate
when people get past the "Wut?" stage, and really give them a serious listen.

Great job BabyMetal!

^ BabyMetal really have turned the Japanese Music World upside down....

Their overseas popularity is a true breakthrough for a Japanese group.

Hope this continues to be as fun for Su, Yui, and Moa as it is for the fans...

Just saw them in New York. It was amazing. Hopefully they'll keep making world tours every summer for many years to come.

For those that live in the UK, the BBC did a half hour documentary on them here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p03pl75v/babymetal-wembley-to-tokyo
Despite being marked as Radio 1, it's actually a video documentary.

It was pretty good, I like the way they acknowledged what makes idols different is the personal contact with the fans - which, IMO, is why BABYMETAL aren't idols anymore.

Kindof a shame that of the 3 times they've come to London, I was only able to see them the first time - but that was an epic event.

I don't get the "anymore" part because they NEVER really had any personal contact with the fans, neither do Sakura Gakuin and you wouldn't say they aren't idols (in general none of the AMUSE idols have fan interaction so it's more of a management thing).

(Babymetal to my knowledge had ONE autograph session when they were in Singapore which was their first non-Japanese gig).

^ Fair enough. Maybe I shouldn't have included that word. But yeah, the fan interaction part is the core component of what makes idols idols to me, rather than some other kind of performer/celebrity. Maybe cuz I came into idols via AKB and then the underground ones, so missed any of the "non-contact" idols.

You do have a point that fan interaction is an integral part of the post AKB-era, but as I understand it before AKB you couldn't interact with idols, I think AKB's motto in the beginning was "Idols you can meet". So when you and other people say they aren't idols I can follow it to some degree.

I kinda feel bad for the girls in Babymetal because I'm fairly sure at least Moa would love interacting with fans but they are more controlled than any idol group that I can think of which is why to me they are idols, and why I'm getting bored with their image everything is rehearsed and choreographed and there's no spontaneity whatsoever.

This is good stuff. It's funny seeing grown men get so insecure because of three young Japanese girls singing Metal.

They've announced a second night at Tokyo Dome:

That seems pretty big to me.

This is also on in the week in September with a lot of public holidays.
