Utada has a new single out, listenable at her myspace, plus I also ripped the song from myspace and uploaded to mediafire (96kbps).
It's a nice song but she has to lose marks for using the word "photoshop" in a lyric, Utada is such a geek, lol.

According to utada.com she's got a new album out soon, also.

Nice song, sounds a bit generic, especially if you compare it to her 1st album, but I can expect it to be a greater success than 'Eazy Breezy' when it comes to air time and it has one of those beats that stay in your head. Looking forward to the new album anyway, where there could be a little more originality from her. Here's hoping anyway.

Wow very generic...

I actually had high hopes for her US comeback.

Even though I like most of her singles, she doesn't have the vocals to pull off the song to make it a hit in the US.

It sounds so... American, yes. Which is what I like... but the lyrics?! I mean I guess if it were in Japanese, it'd be so much prettier and poetic- plus tehe fans would dig. but I think in America... with lyrics like that, it doesn't seem like it'll get anything but raised eyebrows. I don't know. I love her because she's such a genius and her personality is great but I'm sort of disappointed at the lyrics.

Yeah --she has that safe sound, sure fire POP BLAOW.

EXODUS was way too much for some to handle. I LOVED IT...but it was a different sound. Wonder if she will dip into new producers, or get Timbaland again.

Seriously, you had to understand Utada's style and listen to the lyrics to appreciate EXODUS. It wasn't so bad, unless you were unknowing to Utada or was only expecting to listen for her sound and not for lyrics.

It took two or three listens to the song to finally warm up to it. However, my very good friend liked it at one listen

I had my Alicia Keys playing (and btw which she doesn't like Alicia) and then for the first 30 secs she thought it was still Alicia Keys when Utada came on. She asked me and I said "uh huh" without paying attention and she said "wow, I actually like it!" and I said "wtf, it's Utada, why are you acting like you expected to hate it?"... then she called me a "man-brain" for not paying attention to her. again.

I'm not surprised Easy Breezy didn't get airtime... "You're Easy Breezy and I'm Japanesey"? Loll I love her voice but her English lyrics need a lot of work.

^Yeah, her English lyrics are really of a different style. Even in COME BACK TO ME, the reason why I didn't like it first was the random story telling about photoshopping and shopping in Manhattan. But then I realized a lot of the R&B today likes to tell random stories like that, especially females.

Gotta listen to the whole song, and not just the odd word..

The song is basically about a guy who picks her up, fucks her, then leaves.. And she's like "WTF!! Don't treat me like a slut just because I'm Japanese.." She was having a dig that people think Japanese are all easy.. (which she was in the song!)

i think it's been mentioned in another thread that the producers are stargate (ne-yo's "so sick", "closer", beyonce's "irreplaceable", rihanna's "please don't stop the music) and tricky stewart (beyonce's "single ladies", mariah carey's "touch my body", rihanna's "umbrella). stargate did 6 of the 10 songs (including "come back to me") on the album and tricky did the other 4. it really seems like utada's trying to go more mainstream with this. i hope it's good.

Yeah! I really do like Easy Breezy, very catchy tune. But I think the problem is how people didn't really listen to the lyrics carefully enough. Who knows.

Come back to me is a pretty decent track. It's kind of disappointing because I loved the sound that was coming out of exodus and this seems to take the safer route. At the same time though I think it's a good choice for her to do that if she really wants to break this time. It's a good song though and her voice is beautiful as ever. I can't wait to hear the whole thing.
