Commemorating the 9th gen's first performance specifically for a TV program.
Doing the "9" hand sign that Sayumi had them doing.

The TV appearance for Maji Desu ka Suka on Gekkan MelodiX has just been recorded, airs 3/26.

I believe the first post-debut TV appearance for S/mileage was also on this show.
I'm pretty sure that the long relationship between H!P and TV Tokyo as well as Nakai Candies being H!P fans has something to do with it.
They're good at interacting with idols and making it fun.

Wow concert rehearsals are really tough, and they haven't even really shown us the really harsh bits, I bet. ;

No wonder there are incidents where the girls end up crying at these rehearsals, they put in so much effort to give us a good show on stage.

Also, awww Eripon. I feel for you. But you got to have Aichan stay behind to practice with you! I like how Aichan explained the dance moves too. "Every move has a meaning to it", and she demonstrates how to put more feeling into the dance. Sasuga leader! But Aichan, your accent is slipping out again!

Honorable mention to Riho. Nothing seems to phase that girl. o_o That might make her less endearing to those who support the underdogs, but I still like her for being an awesome noob. Even Mizuki was struggling more, but well, she's more moe in general.

Aika was right when she was harsh with them. She was talking about how they (the senpai) might have been a little too soft on them previously, but if they continue coddling them the kids would never learn, and that would be bad when they were all practising together. And she felt bad for being harsh with them, afraid that she might scare them or something, but I guess it had to be done? It's hard being the bad guy.

Zukki seems to be doing better with formation dancing...her individual moves are still a wee bit sloppy but at least she did better than poor Eripon at the moving from one spot to another thing. And I'm still impressed by how the regular members of MM just pick it up on the spot. o_O Experience counts I guess. I can't imagine the mountain 9th gen has to climb. Gaki was right. They have more songs to remember, and the dances just keep getting harder as they go. The barriers to entry just keep getting higher! No wonder it's hard to get new members, training them is a lot of work!

Quick ranking and some thoughts:

1. Fukuchan: super cute. She seems the silent type who's good at studying  She looks pretty classy. Sorta like Maimi from C-ute.
2. Riho: also cute. Great dancer, she seems to give it her all. I think she'll become the most popular one out of the bunch.
3. Kanon: she has a really distinct face, which could make her popular with a limited group of people, but may cause her to lose some 'mass-appeal.' She sometimes reminds me of that woman in Avatar...
4. Erina: she doesn't really stand out to me at the moment, but who knows. Still early new in the game.

Wow, so much in there I don't even know where to start!!!

- Riho saying her charm point is being able to bend her thumbs really far back, and the host saying "But can you do anything useful?" Riho: "Um, something useful..." Host: "You can't, can you?" Aichan freaking out when she bent it back even further.

- Kanon's charm point is her smile, Fuku-chan's is her eyebrows, and Eripon's her voice since fans have seemed to like it.

- Riho did well at the kendama ball game! And Eripon's skill is golf? Airi will have someone to go to the green with!
Kanon's skill is being able to do bug impressions. (the one she did was of like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon...)
And Fuku-chan really is a good artist!

- The PV: OMG I can't wait to see the whole thing now! Everyone looks so energetic and like they're having fun. Especially Ai and the new kids. Aika in an old gardener's costume or something??? I wonder if any of the others wear something too!


They also talked, like following the Bijo Gaku segments, about how hard it's been learning all the new songs and dances. Fuku-chan said they have to learn dances to 3 new songs every day! Around school and all too... Ai-chan commiserated of how when she joined she had 12 songs to learn, while now they have 45 @_@ And that's just singles!

Double OSNAP! I've also got hitchhiker's thumb! I can't bend it quite as far back as she can...but still...it's something we have in common!

Fuku-chan shows off her bridge skills. Yama-chan is forbidden to watch.
Fuku-chan is flexible!

Eripon says her specialty is typing fast on her cellphone. Another talent she can't really demonstrate on TV.
I think she should do some of her gymnastics on new shows, otherwise she'll be remembered as "the girl who didn't do anything".

Yasshii demonstrating her massage technique. Shizu-chan is not impressed.

Zukki says her specialty is eating a lot and bug imitations.
She does her butterfly imitation (her specialty) and Yama-chan thinks she should change it.


Then there's some questions from the senior members.
Ai-chan asks what food Nakazawa hates.
They skip over a bunch of stuff, then some other question I didn't get.

Lastly, the performance seems to be the whole song?
I noticed Zukki makes a small mistake raising her hand a little early when they line up to do kicks.
Yasshii seems to be the only 9th gen that's singing live. The others sounded a little too much like their parts on the CD.
Sayu seems to be having some trouble keeping her jacket all the way on during some parts.

Sayu's question was "Which among us older members should you be most careful of?"

Fuku-chan's answer: Tanaka Reina (no explanation given)
Riho's answer: Takahashi-san, because she's the most senior and also the leader.
Eripon's answer: Tanaka-san. Her appearance is scary u_u (Reina: orz, Ai (next to her): LOL) -- also Eripon's first answer seems to be Ai, but she cancelled it and changed it to Reina

Kanon's answer deserves her own paragraph.

Kanon: Because she says she's cute.
Yama-chan: What's that about?
Kanon: We can't shatter that atmosphere.
Yama-chan: So you are not allowed say that she's anything other than cute?
Kanon: Well, we can't shatter Michishige-san's self-image of being cute.
Sayu: So you're just flattering me?
Kanon: Well you're cute but...
Sayu: WTH!!!!


EPIC WIN. Kanon, you are now officially over 9000 points in awesome.


Anyway the apparent correct answer to Sayu's question is Reina. At this reveal, Fuku-chan's reaction: YATTA!!!
Yama-chan's response: That's not something you should be saying, is it?

Sayu's explanation deserves another paragraph.

Sayu: When I have singing parts with Reina, even though I'm not really singing that badly, although I do slip up with the pitch and stuff, with Ai-chan or Gaki-san all they'll say is "Please be more careful". But with Reina she REALLY gets angry with me.
Everyone: LOL
Sayu: But then when I thought about it, even though they (9th gen) have just joined, they are actually singing better than the me who has 9 years experience on them u_u
Yama-chan: So basically they've already surpassed you.
Sayu: It seems so.
Yama-chan: So the real point here is really "Shige-san, work harder!"
