In case you haven't noticed yet: It's goodbye to Meetan, Cindy, Nonti and Yukarin  I predicted this would happen!!
I'm at loss for words at the moment...
The core of my Team B fandom is based on the Yuki/Sasshi/Moeno combi and they have TOTALLY split up!
Based on a first glance at the names, 'new' Team A might be the best...
-
^Yeah, I finally got around learning the names and faces of most of the Team B members.. and now we're overloaded with a bunch of promoted Research Students :nervous
First thoughts on the new teams:
Team A:
- Still has the Acchan/Kojiharu core
- Still has Takamina, Mariko, Akicha and Chisato
- Excellent new additions in the form of Mocchi, Sasshi and Natsumi!
- Bunch of cool Team B members, even Love-tan is added.
- No one I really dislike!
Conclusion: Most excellent.
Team K:
- Still had Sae and Sayaka
- Still has Oshima and Erepyon
- Excellent Team B addition in the form of Moeno and Kohara
- Team A additions in the form of Tomochin, Minegishi and Fujie.. not sure if they fit in. I mean, Tomochin was really at home in Team A. She really fitted the part, song wise and fashion wise.
Conclusion: Team K took some big hits by losing Mocchi and Kasai!! Not to mention Meetan and Nonti!
Team B:
- My precious Yukirin is the leader! Mayuyu still here as well.
- More Kasai/Yukirin pairing in the future.
- Amina and Kitarie from Team A are excellent.
- Sumire will get popular!
- A bunch of girls I really don't like are here as well...
Conclusion: Yay for Kasai/Yukirin pairing, but I doubt whether that'll be enough to make this team epic.
So yeah.. Team A for the win!
-
Team B might end up being my favourite Team wise as they seem like they could work better as a whole.
It's a shame because the thing that made me love Team K so much isn't there anymore in any of the teams T_T
-
Any reasons why the teams get changed?
-
^No official reason has been given yet.
However, I think Aki-P just wants to mix the old with the new;
- There are 12 promoted research students, which are nicely divided over the three teams; each team gets 4
- Each team now has some "big names"
- Nice excuse to permanently get rid of the older girls
Team B lost pretty much everyone, only 3 of the originals are left! Team A has 6 originals and Team K has 5 left.
-
TBH, I don't even care that they shuffled the teams. It's probably for the best in the long run. But the way they did in, in front of a massive audience is just cruel. In addition, some of these girls have been together since the beginning and they are taken away from their closest friends, that's making me kind of sad.
From what I've been reading, Tomochin and Minegishi took it really hard. Even newer girls like Amina almost fainted :(
Btw, isn't it ironic that they're dream was to play at the Budokan and that something like this happens just when they fulfill that dream. No happy memories there..
-
^ Any video of this "sad" event / announcement available?
-
Well it was part of the budoukan concert wasn't it? So we might have to wait for the DVD release to see it properly...
I don't think I want watch it after what I've heard(apart from maybe the kenkyuusei being told cuz they'd be happy :D)
-
That's some crazy shit...may take me a while to get over this. I don't even know if this can be considered good ro bad news but as long as Takamina is still around then I can't complain.
-
Actually I like it! - It's fresh, it's new, it's interesting, it brings tension and excitement. Aki-P still is sort of a god! :D :P
-
^You're just saying that because they left Acchan alone :P But yes, It'll be interesting for sure! Crazy, but interesting.
No videos yet.. if they'll ever become available I'll post 'em.
-
- Nice excuse to permanently get rid of the older girls
They are in SDN48, still 'AKB' to me although rather far 'out-of-the-picture' for now, e.g. hoping they will release stage DVD's (and Amazon is prepared to send them overseas :) )
-
Personally, I'm glad Takamina got made captain instead of Aachan!
-
Any reasons why the teams get changed?
Akipi is a jerk?
I don't want to say much about this.. Just, I'm in shock.
Takamina being Team A capitan was pretty obvious. Don't know why people say they're glad Acchan wasn't picked, because Acchan has zero chance to be captain.
Sayaka captain of Team K was obvious too. Yukirin in B was not, I would have said it would be Mayu.
Haha, sux.
-
^Maybe Aki-P is a genius?
Mayuyu may be the face of Team B, but Kashiwagi is the older and more reliable one.. I think  Anyway, I think the whole 'leader' thing is a bit stupid. On the other hand, it might add to Yukirin's status. In that sense, I like it.
-
When I first found out about this, I was like, "Wtf"
But hey, I'll be able to accept this.
and look on the bright side, At least harunyan is still In team A! :D
-
doinkies' reaction to this news, told in chronological order:
*reading articles on Google Reader, finds a new IntlWota article is posted*
*reads the article that says AKB48 team lineups will be shuffled*
doinkies: bwuh? :shocked
*goes to Stage48 thread*
*reads thread*
doinkies: AKIPISADOINKAKIPISADOINKAKIPISADOINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*a half hour later*
doinkies: Well, there are some positives to this...Sumire and Ayarin were promoted along with some other kenkyuuseis, Sae and Sayaka are still in Team K together and Takamina and Sayaka are Captains! It also might make fans notice some of the lesser known members and appreciate them better.
But I wish Amina was still in Team A especially after hearing about how she fainted. :(
And I'll miss Meetan :( :(
*reads Meetan's blog and notices that in her new blog entry for her fans under 18 and thus aren't able to see SDN shows, (http://ameblo.jp/ohorimegumi/entry-10327432525.html) she says that "it seems like something fun will be happening with SDN?"*
doinkies: ...moar exposure for SDN48 outside the theater perhaps? :w00t: at least that's what I hope or else I'll go AKIPISADOINKAKIPISADOINK again...
So yeah.

AKB48 shuffles its teams
Mon, August 24, 2009 (12:33am EDT)
This weekend, AKB48 performed three concerts at the Nippon Budokan. At the end of the third show, it was unexpectedly announced that the rosters of the group's three teams are being shuffled. The changes include the addition of twelve kenkyuusei members and the transfer of four members to SDN48. The three captains will be Minami Takahashi (Team A), Sayaka Akimoto (Team K), and Yuki Kashiwagi (Team B). Teams A and K will have a total of 17 members each, while Team B will have 16.
Kayo Noro, Megumi Ohori, Yukari Sato, and Kazumi Urano have been removed from the AKB48 lineup, though they will continue their activities with SDN48. Noro has been appointed as the SDN48 captain. AKB48's new team lineups will officially take effect in October. The group also repeated the announcement that they have scheduled some overseas concerts. They will reportedly appear at the New York Anime Festival next month, and have scheduled a mini-concert on September 26 and a solo concert at Webster Hall on September 27. However, New York Anime Festival has not yet officially announced their appearance. Then on October 5, they will perform at an opening event for the media convention MIPCOM in Cannes, France.

I think the captains are just giving titles to what was already there with sayaka and Takashi. They do a lot of the talking and with sayaka I know the girls viewed her as a leader and it was mentioned at her birthday this year.
Kashiwagi often leads talking things on TV with the B girls so I can see where that comes from.
It's cool they're actually thought about and it's not just the oldest members being thrown to the position.
I'm now all calm about it and seeing the positives and it's great to see the deserving kenkyuusei promoted. Also will finally get me watching Team A's LODs as I like some of the girls as girls but I was never a fan of Team A as a whole but now I think I quite like how it's looking.
Just sad that Tomotomo and Eremyao weren't put together, would have been awesome to see them in units together!!
-
So, October is here, when will the teams change? Is there some sort of ceremony or event? I guess it won't happen until after the Cannes event.
-
It is said that the manager told in NY that the shuffle wouldn't come until Nov-Dec.
-
I heard there'll be new stages in december but I don't have evidence of that.
nov-dec sounds more likely if a manager said that.
-
FYI, Disc 3 of Budokan has the full ceremony, which is around 20 minutes.
The girls who get to stay in their own teams were really glad. You could see the relief, especially in Yuko, Acchan, Mariko and Sae.
Some of them took the change pretty good imo. Kasai kept herself together, as well as some of the under appreciated Team B girls, who probably see this as a chance.
I also noticed that new Team K got most of the girls who really not happy; Moeno, Itano, Miichan, Tanamin and Fujie, to name a couple. I hope that there won't be a division between the core of team K (Sayaka/Sae/Yuko/Erena) and the new girls.
I just want to say for one last time that this was truly heart-breaking to watch and that they should not have done it like this. I do think that they changes itself will be interesting and beneficial for AKB48 as a whole.
-
Yeah, I think it's a pretty safe consensus that there was no reason to do something so emotional and business-impacting out in public. It was a bad move, IMO, but like maliciel said in the DVD's thread, there are a certain group of fans who take the whole thing way too seriously and like seeing stuff like this. :smhid
Honestly, I like what it could be, but when I think about what it probably will be I'm annoyed that it was done. All the front girls who mostly stayed in their teams will stay up front, and all the middle and lower "tier" members will probably stay right where they always were. We'll see, I guess.
-
The main reason for the shuffle was to have senbatsu members more balanced.(ie now there's 4 B girls instead of 2 or something)
and I think there are other reasons it's neceassry, Team A felt very divided between original members and 'new members' so having 2 original members taken out will shake that up and hopefully fix it.
At least that seems to be the plan and has a good chance or working and working out well.
But I think even with only fan reports of the concert to go by the generally consensus was it was done very badly and unfairly to the girls.

I dunno about this, but were they told to expect something like this at all?
I'm not a fan of permanent 'shuffling' in any case (damn you, H!P), but I guess I can see the rationale behind it. I somewhat agree with Datalanche about how it sort of seems like they're splitting them into 'tiers', but that just means it's a whole lot easier for underdog fans to see them all at once? :D?
Oh yeah. Senbatsu = Single lineup?
-
I dunno about this, but were they told to expect something like this at all?
I would assume no since they were shocked to the point of hysterics and becoming physically ill and even passing out. The emotion and shock some displayed, such as Amina who loved and was thrilled to get into Team A, makes me think there was no mention of this to anyone but the higher management prior to that announcement.
And yeah, it's not entirely a tiered system. There are a few exceptions in every group such as Kasai(fairly popular) being moved to B and Nakayan(who is awesome but ranks among the lowest in the mixi rankings) to A, but still, as a whole when I compare the faces of A to K and B, I see a lot of the one who are regularly on TV shows, singles, and so on. Even so, each team has a lot of good in it and I am hopeful that this will all work well for their performances and for the girls as well.
-
you can watch the whole stage 3 performance and team shuffle (last 20mins) here.
Welcome to JPH!P, GerkGibson! :welcome
-
yes senbatsu means 'chosen' or something...it is the single line-up...the a-side one.
-
I believe Takamina might have been informed of the shuffle. She looked pretty upset even before the guy walked out to announce it, and was crying just as he was, unlike the other girls who were all super confused.
-
Leave it to Erepyon to add some comic relief to the moment.
Also, I see that the index thread has been updated to reflect the new teams. This makes it seem more real somehow.

The producers are evil money grubbing whores. They caused all this hurt in pursuit of the mighty yen. These are teenagers that go to school. They do this because they love it - not like a run-of -the -mill band hoping from one gig to another. If they wanted to group girls differently, they could do so with shuffle units.
I think one underlying reason for the regrouping was to let the audience and the girls know who's the boss. They want the fans to think of AKB48 not as THESE girls but just a set of girls who's members can be added to or deleted from Like the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. The producers don't care about these girls, they care about the AKB48 brand name.

i miss the old team K
:(
