The band has potential, but they need a lot of work. The vocals ruin it for me at this point.

Was that Eita on the guitar? I didn't recognize her because she wasn't dressed up like a princess lol, but I knew I've seen that pink Marshall stack before.

Song was ok. Listening to Link Age songs, the vocalists is a pretty good singer. She's capable of better I think.

Post by: twissie on March 08, 2010, 01:23:47 PM: This is probably a really old topic, but yeah~ Gacharic Spin <3 hahaha. I've been following their blogs from the very beginning, it's been quite a ride. Love these girls, so exciting to finally get to hear what they've been working on~

They've released their first single now! It's called "Lock On!!" and features three songs. They can all be previewed a bit on the band's MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/gacharicspin)

They also made a PV for the title track, it's... quite something. Love the random outfits, and the song is pretty good in my opinion :D I like Armmy's voice, the live clip posted earlier did not do her justice at all. Cruddy sound at the venue!

Apart from Koga, I don't know much about the band members. I follow their current blogs and know the names of their previous bands, but... yeah. Anyone have anything of interest to share about Armmy, Hana, and Tomo-zo? Are their real names known at all? It feels weird following a band and only know their stage names :P Though I guess that's what they want?

She used Tomo2 or TomoTomo in Eu*Phoria, so yeah, it seems like they're trying to make a fresh start with Gacharic Spin.

Hana just announced Gachapin's second single in her latest blog post! I expect the other girls to make similar announcements and comments soon~ The official home page has also been changed to reflect the news of the new single.

In addition to this... EXCITING NEWS. Gachapin will be on NHK's Music Japan! The show is on every Sunday at 6pm, but I don't know the air date for Gachapin's episode yet. Seems like the show either was just recorded or that the girls just got the news that they were going to be on there xD;

Yes it is XD I lold the first time the girls used it too. To be honest, it does roll off the tongue a lot easier than "Gacharic Spin" (especially if you say "Gacharic Spin" like they would do in Japan xD), and they do tend to shorten all names and words in Japan anyway, so I guess it was inevitable 8D But I don't think they planned it, no XD

They obviously joke around with it, they keep using Gachapin emoticons, and Koga was given a Gachapin notebook by the other girls, etc, etc 8D Aww.

The girls have just announced new "one-man" shows. It's to my understanding that while the girls have toured a lot (they really have @_@), they always play gigs together with lots of other small indie bands. But now, to celebrate a year of being a band, having released two singles, first tv appearance... etc etc, there'll be a two day "one-man" show at Roppongi morph tokyo. Maaaan I wish I could go T_T;

The show has been named "GachaGacha Anniversary : ~SHOCK! LAUGH ATTACK? 2DAY SHOW~" <-- "衝撃！笑撃？SHOW劇2Days". And of course there's a pun. As far as I can tell both "衝撃" and "笑撃" would be pronounced the same 8D Kanji puns break my brain so feel free to correct my sloppy translation of that XD

I've been following them from the very beginning, so I get super excited on their behalf :heart: And to think that they got this gig because the Music Japan producer randomly found them on youtube @___@....... such a lucky break. They apparently got a rush of people flocking to their blogs after the tv debut, they posted introduction posts to help out interested newbies, and they seem completely overwhelmed from all the messages they've been receiving. ALL GOOD NEWS.

They apparently also got a lot of hits through google right after the performance was over. How awesome is that? :D

Hope to see them on TV more (hopefully some interviews and such as well~~~).

The performance itself~ GJ! Hana rocking out in the background like a completely mental person :inlove: ahahahaha. And yeah, Armmy really can sing @_@; that first live clip that circulated around before it got taken down really didn't do her justice at all. Sound technicians at that gig needs a talking to! xD

There will be an event on August 22 for the DVD release. Hana is going to do a talk and performance, and Koga will guest star the event as well. People who show up and buy the dvd at the event get it signed, and will also get their picture taken with Hana.

The event is free, and I'M DEFINITELY GOING. FFFFFFFF O________O;;;;; It's in Akihabara, a short walk from where I'm currently staying. I couldn't be more excited D: I just hope I'll be able to get... in? Hahahaha D: I have terrible luck with free events like this <,<;;;; Whaaaa this absolutely makes up for me arriving in between Gachapin's two tours, and leaving before their next single release xD;

Post by: twissie on August 23, 2010, 01:43:08 AM: Hana had her event at musicvox, and all the other band members came over to support her ;D Koga was already planned to take part in the event.

The event lasted about an hour. Hana played a frickin amazing drum solo (accompanied by some guy who added in sound effects and other little details as she went along) to get everyone started. She talked about how she got into drumming. Showed and explained various exercises for practising how to drum with a twin pedal set-up. People in the audience asked questions, and though she seemed nervous and uncomfortable at first, she seemed to relax after a while.

Hana is the spaciest person ever. I totally see why she would describe herself as an alien (as she does) xD;;; She has the squeakiest voice ever, and she'd stop mid-sentence and ask what it was she was talking about xD; Doing weird awkward gestures and poses while talking :wub:

As mentioned, Koga was there as a special guest and she totally rocked the house. Hana had created this kind of silent cozy atmosphere with her silent, awkward way of talking, and then Koga came and just cut through all of that. Shouting and cheering and being all excited and pumped up xD;; The girls then talked about the importance of practising together, promoted their next single, various chit chat, and they took some more questions from the audience. The girls apparently exercise a lot, and when it comes to running, Koga is the best, while Hana is second best. Koga also shared trivia on how Hana looks like a robot when she runs xD; I'd like to see that.

The two girls jammed together, and it was amazing to see them both in action. The way they connected all through it to keep up with each other through the little play session. Awesome, awesome stuff.

I had an amazing time :O I'm really glad I was able to attend this. It also kind of feels better than a concert in a way, since we were able to get so close to Hana. I have a feeling she doesn't talk all that much during concerts... xD;;;

Oh and yeah, TOMO-ZO is set to release a DVD in this same series (in September)~ I wonder if they'll have Armmy make a DVD too, teaching vocal techniques @_@; That would have been awesome, hahaha.

I haven't been able to properly keep up with their blogs lately, because of my travelling, but the title "AKB" caught my attention, so I clicked and read that (for a second worrying that one of the Gachapin girls were to leave Gachapin to join AKB or whatever... xDDDD ).

Anyway~! What happened is that Koga and Tomo-zo were out walking when they noticed some guys watching them. The boys approached them and asked Koga "You're Chiwawa Mariko, right?". Koga thought it was the name of some current celebrity, but she doesn't watch tv (!!!!) so she had no idea who it was, and asked the guys "...who's Chiwawa Mariko?", and the guys then told her that they meant AKB's Shinoda Mariko xD;; Koga was all "omgggg how can they mistake me for some cutesy AKB girl, WE'RE NOT ALIKE AT ALLL FFFFFFF" xDDDDD

olololol. Of course, I'm not familiar with AKB either, but looking at pictures of this Mariko I can see how they would mistake Koga for her :O

As you may or may not know, I help run the official Gachapin facebook. It was a simple fanmade page at first, but their management contacted me, and they wanted me to keep doing what I was doing (though, admittedly, I'm not contributing much at the moment). I was floored by this, as I was sure they would tell me to GTFO if they ever found it. So I felt humbled and thankful.

Then earlier this summer, I went to Tokyo for my (much needed) summer vacation. There had been talk of getting me in to see a Gachapin show, and I was very excited. I was, however, not at all prepared for the fact that I would get to meet them as well.

But I did.
And I was not prepared. Hahahha. I ended up sitting backstage in their dressing room just staring at them, being a complete creeper 8| but it was fun. They all shook my hand and thanked me for spreading the word. Hana pointed at me and told me she remembered me from last year (I attended her DVD release event). It was all a bit overwhelming, really. I'm the one who should be thanking them. I felt in the way and like I was a bother, because they were preparing to go on stage (!!!), but yeah. It was awesome getting to see them prepare for the show, listening in on the pre-show discussions and just generally soaking in the backstage atmosphere. It was incredibly cool to be able to be a part of that (they had brand spanking new costumes for this show, and they were all walking around worrying if it looked good/would we uncomfortable on stage, haha!).

I rushed downstairs so that I'd be able to actually see the show as well. I was blown away.

Their music videos are great and all, but they don't really capture the energy of Gachapin. It's completely wild, and kind of unexpected. I mean, they do look like just another anime-music band, but that's so not what they are on stage. Armmy was really working the crowd, she even jumped into the audience at one point during the absolutely epic Ben Jan Dan to dance with us. It was amazing. We all linked arms and jumped from side to side.
Tomo-zo was adorable. Weird though, she was on "my" side of the stage, but I never really noticed her? Hhaha. I was jumping around like crazy, though.
KOGA did an epic MC, and I'm told that this is how she does all her MCs. No microphone, standing on top of a feedback monitor, screaming out a long ass speech to the audience. I seem to remember she talked about their second anniversary tour, which is what they're doing currently, and everything they've achieved as a band along the way. Memories from her old band, and such...

Showing off their new t-shirts. The girls have their own colours now! (as shown by the shirts). They also gave me a shirt of my choice (I chose Hana's colour). KOGA handed it to me going "PRESENT FROM HANA~". XDDDD It felt so wrong. I was all "..... no, no let me pay for merchandise, omggggg" (I didn't actually say that, but I wanted to D:). And then later, Hana gave me one of her headbands o___o;;; I'LL TREASURE IT, OMG.

I also met their manager, he also shook my hand and thanked me. I was completely speechless.

So... yeah. It was an awesome experience, but I still look back and facepalm of my inability to TALK. I did not manage to say anything at all... though thinking it over, I'm not quite sure what I would have wanted to tell them, so I guess it all worked out. Even though they probably think I'm the biggest weirdo, but whatever. XD;;; I should get them some silly souvenirs and send them to them. To make up for my awkwardness!

I've been on a quest to find out the brand and model of Tomo-Zo's natural strat guitar (the one she used in most of the eu*phoria stuff), so I would've asked her about that :lol: It's prolly a Tokai of some sorts, but I never managed to pin down the exact model. I asked on some guitar fora too.
I even mailed Gachapin in English and Japanese using the email on their site, but I never got a response lol.

And Reona in Gachapin :O2 mixed feelings... Not sure if her keyboard sounds match the energy level of Gachapin. She even made some Eu*phoria songs sound a bit funny.. Aw well, let's give her a chance.

The big announcement was that Gacharic Spin are getting their own music experiment variety show on Music Air (http://www.musicair.co.jp/)! It'll air every Saturday, starting sometime in December.

They showcased what was meant by "music experiment" variety by holding a little contest where the girls put on headphones and moved around to the music they listened to, the viewers were then asked to guess what genre of music they were listening to via the social stream on ustream.

The show was interspersed with clips from their live dvd and various "Teach yourself ____" dvds, but they also performed an acoustic set, and it was wonderful. If someone recorded this, please share! The girls are set to do some acoustic shows in the future.

Anyone else catch the stream? What did you think?

Gachapin did an outdoors gig at Odaiba in Tokyo yesterday. This picture popped up on Armmy's blog, and I love it.

Now they've announced that they are looking for a support vocalist (possibly several) to get them through their tour scheduled for February. They've called the tour "Gacharic Spin GACHAPINCH!! Tour" and it consists of 21 shows! Wow.

.... this could get very interesting.

The audition (?) runs all through January, and girls ages 15~30 are free to participate (both amateur and professional singers welcome). You can send in your audition either via regular mail or e-mail. More information here (http://www.gacharicspin.com/boshu.html).

I can't help but worry about Armmy, though. I hope she's doing okay :/

TAKO-SHOW, a restaurant in Osaka, is currently doing a project to show their support for Gacharic Spin and to help Armmy feel a bit better. Their goal is to collect a thousand origami paper cranes made by Gachaman and Gachapinko (the fans!), and send them to her.

They've set the initial deadline to January 22, so it might be a bit late to send in your paper cranes, but it's not too late to show them that you support their project.

Gachapin staff has also posted an official update. Armmy's condition is not life threatening, but she won't return to action anytime soon.

Anyways, at the end of their concert AKB surprised everybody by performing their upcoming single as a BAND. It was pretty bad, but I appreciate the effort and seeing that was pretty awesome. They showed a VTR of the members practicing before the performance, but I didn't see any of Gachapin in the VTR.

The TV version of their second documentary aired recently though, and it showed AKB practicing as a band a bit more.

Speaking of Eu*Phoria, I was wondering if Shoco (their vocalist) would apply or be considered for support vocalist. Even though I would love to see her again, I'm glad she isn't involved. I think it would be really painful and awkward to perform with the band that is one of the reasons why Eu*phoria isn't around anymore.

I like how the majority of the vocalists above is blond. I wonder if that's a coincidence :lol: I'm not familiar with any of them either.

The big elephant in the room here is obviously MAYU, the vocalist from KOGA's old band The Pink Panda. BLiSTAR, her current band, is currently on break, because she recently gave birth. Hahaha wow, so.. it's not up on the official site yet, but both Koga and Tomo-zo have written on their blogs that Reona (or Oreoreona as her band persona seems to be named) is now an official member of Gacharic Spin. The girls seem thrilled. I mean, they've already had to change guitarist once... so this is Gachapin v. 1.5, I can't wait until they find a new vocalist and turn into Gachapin 2.0.

They seem pretty positive that Gacharic Spin will continue on. They're in a bit of a transformation period, will return soon enough as version 3.0 of Gacharic Spin. They're looking for a vocalist that'll fit in, but they've got no idea of when they'll find that person (if at all...). Both Hana and Oreo can sing, but they would like to have a dedicated vocalist.
They shared fun little tidbits about the PINCH! tour, apparently Hamada Britney was a terrible vocalist XD (but she gave everything she had, so what can you do).

They've announced that they'll do a European tour. Only one date in France announced so far, but Koga mentioned studying Spanish and German for the "European tour", so I have a feeling they'll announce more dates later.

They talk about how the band got together and briefly talk about the concept of the band (gacha-gacha noise and randomness). They talk about the new album and that the concept for the new album involves music that allow for fun and interesting dance numbers, since they have actually added in two dancers to the group for their live shows now. They consider this new album to be a fresh start, even though they haven't found a new vocalist yet.
Lastly they promote their album promotion tour, which will end quite spectacularly with a one man show at Shibuya O-East (July 15th), that's awesome!

At this point, I wonder whether they've given up on searching for a new vocalist. I honestly think the two-vocalist set up they've got going now is a very interesting one, and I love the sounds they come up with. It's great that they are still so uniquely Gacharic Spin even though the band has been through all of these changes!

I LOVE seeing Hana as the front figure of this band, oh my god. I love her new hairstyle, she is just gorgeous O___O;;;;; I really enjoy the style and playfulness of this track. It follows in the style of Lock On and the first singles very well, I think. I can't wait to get a hold of the full album (which has been released already, I'm just slow).

Basically they are asking people to design a bass for KOGA to play and a guitar for Tomo-zo to play.
The winning designs will be presented at the scheduled one-man live at Shibuya O-East (July 15).
You need to send you design by mail, either on a postcard or an A4 paper (about the size of a regular magazine).
On the back of your drawing/design, you need to write the following:
- Your name (in furigana)
- Location
- Occupation (if you are a student, you write the name of your school plus what grade you are in)

A singing drummer does seem pretty rare to me, I love how they've actually placed her front center in parts of the PV 8D but singing while drumming ... that must get really tiring at concerts :S

You're in for a treat - seriously. Their live performances are just unreal, so energetic!

I hope both dancers will be able to make it. When is the Expo again? There was an update on the official site yesterday that Gacha dancer 1 Mai won't make the gig next Sunday due to a pulled muscle in her right leg (must be pretty severe D:).

Mai's comment is basically that she's putting all her effort into a speedy recovery so that all six of them can give their usual powerful performance.

This made me browse through the Gacha Dancers blog, and I see Mai talking about having pulled a muscle on May 23rd - saying that all the other girls are helping out and covering for her - coming up with new dance formations so that she can still join in :S yikes. Hard working girls! I wish Mai a speedy recovery indeed~ She needs to rest up!

Post by: twissie on May 29, 2014, 10:09:22 PM: Err, I am double posting, but I figured out what these pictures are for. Thanks to some blog searching. Apparently, GS created a special side project for a recent gig at Thunder Snake ATSUGI. They are Atsugi city's unofficial idol unit: USUGI.

According to my dictionary, "usugi" means "to dress lightly". Just.. as an FYI :lol:

They sold a demo CD at the gig. The unit consists of KOGA, Hana, and Oreo Reona, their USUGI names are 勝子 (かっちゃん) [Kago / Kacchan], フラワー (ふらちゃん) [Flower / Fura-chan], and 昭和 (しょうちゃん) [Showa / Shou-chan], respectively.

The song is called "厚木でUSUGI" [USUGI AT ATSUGI]. Song is written by TOMO-ZO, arranged by Hana, and the unit is styled by Oreo Reona.

According to a fan review, the song is extremely wotagei, and it sounds like something AKB could have released. I'd love to get my hands on this, unghhhh. This is probably just a one off type of project, but who knows. Koga makes it seem like USUGI could come back at a later date. I don't know about you guys, but I sure would like to see more of this XD;;;

Regular edition does seem to have more of the re-done tracks? but the selling point for that one is 6 possible random cover arts, even though they only show one, so who knows what the others look like...

Gacharic Spin will release their first major single "Sekira Liar/ Tokenai CANDY" 「赤裸ライアー / 溶けないCANDY」 on February 25!

"Tokenai CANDY" will be performed by Gachadan (Mai and Arisa) and will be the ending theme song for the anime series "Tenkai Knight", which will start airing from January.

I actually did notice Arisa had an IV out before she joined, then when I searched I saw Mai had been doing them for years XD

I do think it's nice they've been given a chance like this, I think maybe Koga might have been involved in them being hired as the dancers, seeing as they come from a similar background to her \o/

Not sure if I'll be there this year due to the location change from Japantown to Fort Mason though.

To everyone that doesn't know them yet, just check out their PV's on Youtube! They only debuted as a major act last last year and technically have 1 major single and 1 best of album out, but they were performing as an indie group for years and have 5 singles and 2 albums.

Live they are incredible and after seeing them I switched from a casual fan to a crazy one, if there's a signing or a meet and greet you should totally go to that too!!
They really give it their all, and the 2 dancers are really good at hyping up the crowd and showing you what to do along with the songs, it really is entertaining and fun more than anything!! :D Plus it's really funny!!! gogogogogogogogo!!!!

The official video for their performance last year at Japan Expo in France just came out!
They sound really weird! but it just seems to be a direct, quiet feed with no effects or crowd noise, but it does let you see the whole stage, which is good during stuff like Juicy Beats, missing from any of the fan videos.

Veeeeeerrrryyyy slow to load. The guy with the face paint is an old pro wrestler named The Great Kabuki. He's in his 60s and still performs in Japan.

They also used a wrestler in "Don't Let Me Down." His name is Genichiro Tenryu and is also an old-timer. Why they are using old wrestlers in their videos I do not.

Oh, and did you all know Armmy has returned to music, albeit low key? Or has that been discussed?

Do you think they'll replace Arisa with another performer? Just having one performer seems a bit off (though who knows, it worked for Happy Mondays XD ). I'll see if I can get tickets for the Akasaka BLITZ final performance, I'd love to get to see all six of them one last time .__.!

I got Metalca in the mail this week too!! Zombie movie wise it's okay, as a Gatchapin movie it's fairly good! but Tomo-zo and Hana are just background characters that don't say or do much, Leona has the most lines and Koga the second most.

Nene is great. Fits right in on going 200% on everything. It was amazing the Gacharic was the only band at Jpop Summit to get an encore, and then I immediately felt bad about it because after going hard for an entire set, they came back and Mai, Nene, and Oreo straight-up RAN in place for an entire song. Holy shit hardcore.

I think it was a special concert, and Oreo started complaining that everyone wasn't pumped up enough.

Anyone listened to their new album yet?
It's all there again; Hana and Oreo sharing a few rocksongs, Tomo-zo singing a popsong, Oreo doing a couple of (semi-)ballads, plus the singles we already know (the extended version of Yumekuizame is almost the same as the single version). Plus lots of distorted vocals (and some growls), lots of nice little solospots, bleeps and things, so the usual I'd say.

But I am excited. It's all good. Maybe no instant stand out tracks, but I like most of the songs now that they have grown on me a little.

Minor point (or major when it gets on your nerves) is Hana's snare drum on about half of the tracks. It almost sounds like an empty oil drum on tracks like Digital Fiction. Raw and punkish, and therefore rather predominant. No idea why they did this.
