Gonna keep an eye out for it, just to see how it'll turn out.

This could get interesting.  From what I've heard, they'll be sticking more closely to the manga and cutting out all the filler that famously made DBZ so long-winded.

I want to watch them again in HD (if available) @ my new 52 inch TV ... when I was a kid, my TV is ok-ly crappy

Though never a huge fan of DBZ, I appreciated some of the sagas, namely Cell, so I definitely saw good in the series. A remake with all the filler gone could be really, really good. I'll definitely be checking this one out.

Apparently, the series is called Dragon Ball Kai.

OP
Dragon Ball Kai Opening HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnvupMV9su4#ws-lq-lq2-hq-vhq-hd)

ED
Dragon Ball Kai Ending HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHuZ6LLfCGE#ws-lq-lq2-hq-vhq-hd)

Looks good. Hopefully this makes up for the epicmegafailover9000 that the live-action movie is.

XD XD XD can't wait for the 720

wonder what changed ... since it's called "kai" (Kai means change)

They've touched up the original animation and put it into HD, along with cutting out the filler to make the series much shorter.  That's pretty much what it boils down to.

Oh, and here's the best subbed version that's been released so far that I've watched, and it's also in 720p:

edit:

IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!

but i seriously hated that they resumed the whole first part of the serie (dragonball) in like 3 minutes? that's not cool man, not cool at all

hmm .... I dont feel any "latest anime digi-tech" in the 1st epi .... hope the battle scenes later on are REALLY "digi-tech"-ize

Kame using makankosappo !?  not Kamehameha !? LOL

note: Makankosappo (魔貫光殺砲 "Special Beam Cannon" in the English dub and "Light of Death" in Viz media)

hmm nothing seems any different animation wise and having the new opening/endings shows this even more o.O

I'm disappointed really.  It'll be nice to have a version without the filler, and the picture does look more vibrant than the original, but that's about it.  It's new HD format is nothing more than cropping the picture at the top and bottom to be 16:9.  So instead of gaining more width, you're really just losing height.

(http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/189/dragonballkaib2.jpg) (http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dragonballkaib2.jpg)

It kinda got my hopes up when I saw the Opening/Ending, cause boy would it be awesome if the entire series had been redrawn to look like that. e_e

I was under the impression that the series was being totally redone. To see that it's just a crop and chop job disappoints me a little bit.

At least it isn't half new stuff and half old like the Zeta Gundam movies. They were really good movies but it was so annoying watching the screen flop between 1986 animation and 2005 animation.

Yeah. if the series was re-made like the OP, that would've been pretty crazy stuff.
It felt more like watching the same thing. WHich isn't bad though, I'd like to re-watch the whole series again.

Watched one episode a few weeks ago. It felt good seeing it for old times sake, but it didn't feel different at all.
Especially because I watched one of those crappy episodes when Gohan is small, if you have a good memory, is the episode where Piccolo destroys the moon.

I was really hoping they'd redo everything, like making events go faster and a little better visuals at least.
But honestly, I'd watch it all over again  :P

Once again another great Episode involving Gohan training with Piccolo. Piccolo told him what he was doing wrong for quite awhile, even though Gohan tapped into his Mystic/Ultimate Form really easy than I thought he would, it made want to cry seeing those two face each other and then abuse Dinosaurs to eat. It takes me back to the old days in DBZ, and Piccolo see's Gohan have the potential to go further than his current form holy shit that's scary to think about. He'll unleash it during the tournament, and for some reason I see Piccolo/Gohan being one of the main reasons the team pulls out a win mark my works on that. Also we got Cauliflowa debut in Super, no Tail and all and Renzo I wonder maybe has that special power like his Sister. Still wondering where did all these Saiyans come from when Goku/Vegeta/Nappa/Raditz/Turtles are the only guys who was left standing after their Planet was destroyed. I want to know her story, and Cabba's further for that matter.
