Everybody's favorite serious anime didn't have an own thread, what a blasphemy! Now it does.

蟲師 http://www.mushishi.jp/

The Mushi are neither plant nor animal, neither microbe nor fungus. They are more like primitive life forms. Their existence is so innocuous that we don't notice that they exist until they have manifested some mysterious phenomena. They do not exist to frighten people; they just are.

These are one-off stories about Ginko, the Mushishi, one who knows about the Mushi and who acts as a mediator between humans and Mushi. During his journey, he meets various people and Mushi.

============================================

Discuss, praise and stuff, don't spoil or make the spoilers in white-on-white text, but basically I'm starting this thread to inform everybody that next to last episode 25 is OUT! weee~

Enjoy.

some more info about the Mushishi live action, including pics, at memento.

when Mushishi stopped weekly episodes at ep 20 earlier in the year (was it april?) i was very unhappy - but these last six eps (well, last 5, as i haven't seen ep 26 yet) have been even better than the previous 20. the art, in particular, has benefitted: it always was stunning, but now that the studio responsible have had more time to make each episode, it's of OVA quality. it actually makes me want a HD tv so i can watch it in all its glory :) .

Mushishi live action, eh. Sounds promising, let's hope it delivers. Odagiri Joe is awesome, and it's gonna have Aoi Yuu! \o/

Those screenshots really rose my hopes, it indeed looks promising now! I thought it wouldn't be good just because all the beautiful sequences from the anime would cost just too much money to put in a movie, but Mali pointed it wouldn't enter such prestigious event as Venice Fest for nothing, so yeah, I'm hoping for the best now.

Congrats, we won't see the final ep subbed, as Mushishi was just licensed and C1 Anime had to drop it

Mushishi C&D Letter... - Friday, October 6

With a heavy heart... I have to say that we're forced to drop Mushishi. It's truly a sad day for all of us. And what's worse is we didn't get that last episode out. We were so close, and we're very sorry to all of you. Mushishi has been one of the greatest shows I've had the privilidge to work on, and it will be missed. We thank you for all of your support, as you guys are truly what kept us going. You've been awesome fans all through this, and you rock. Thanks again, and we're sorry.

F**k it, I'm dling the raw! :x

excellent idea.

it's so fucking stupid on FUNI's part, too: do they really think we'll pass up the chance for a proper DVD copy of this, with or without fansubs? Mushishi is great on so many levels, but it's particularly great in its art: so i want a DVD copy, preferably yesterday. as if having the final ep onfansubs is going to stop me buying the series - not having it cos the distributors are dickheads might well make me not buy it, tho!

Where can I DL/BT the earlier episodes?  I wanna check out episode 1 to see if it's worth watching.

they were on scarywater, but they've been taken down thanks to FUNIMATION. however, a mininova search threw up a few results. not as good as a batch torrent, but better than nothing: at least they've all got seeds.

@aedon: i was going to post here this morning about ep26 if you hadn't found it yet. good to see that you did :) .

the guy doesnt look half bad, but knowing the anime, this might be one crappy movie. as for 1764, there's no better description than peaceful with a touch of weirdness. when you watch the first episode, you will understand what it means.
