Holy shit! Hes the last person I expected to be using steroids; that shit he said at court convinced me. What an idiot, I can't believe he would do that! Right after the 3,000 hit thing too...

As The Juice Churns...
« Reply #103 on: August 06, 2005, 06:46:05 AM »
You know... I can't get worked up over this or almost any steroid issue.

It is proof positive that steroids build mass, grows muscles, assists in recovery from workouts, etc. And of course all the icky rot that occurs thereafter.

Does the juice help you with the precise eye-hand coordination required to hit major league pitching? Can it increase 5mph on your two-seam fastball or develop more movement on your circle change? I think if that were the case then I would make steroids a daily part of every ballplayer's diet, especially those with inferior strike zone judgement.

I believe the jury is still out on that issue. As for Palmeiro... isn't Viagra [TM] a kind-of steroid itself? Does that count as double-dipping (or double-doping)?

Man, I'm tired of this story. REALLY tired...

I would vote for Palmeiro for the Hall of Fame.

Riddle me This!

Let me get this straight.  The Giants lost 2 out of 3 against the Rockies aka "the worst team in the league" :thumbsdown  but have won 2 out of 3 against the Astros aka "the hottest team in the National League" ?  AND we're within striking sitance of the first place Padres? WTF? :?

Also, praise to A's GM Billy Beane for the making consistantly good teams in one of the poorest markets in the majors.

Once again, Oakland flashes its second-half power.  They are now in first place in the AL West.  I'm also looking forward to the home stretch of the NL East race and wish the NL West would somehow produce at least one (1) team with a winning percentage over .550.

Just saw Roger Clemens's line for today: 7IP, no ER.  Win.

John Kruk still thinks Cris Carpenter is a more deserving NL Cy Young candidate.  I dunno: an ERA BELOW 1.40 is hard to ignore...

I can't believe the year Clemens is having...

How many Cy Youngs are given out each season?

One in each league, which Clemens has already done (his career should be winding down by the time he hits fifty years of age).

I can't reiterate enough how much of a DUMBASS John Kruk is.  It pains me to see the once-great "Baseball Tonight" show represented with such an "analyst."  He pretty much said ANY pitcher who is credited with the most wins should be given the Cy Young.  "It's ALL about winning," said Kruk, who apparently has never given much thought to HOW games are won and lost by pitchers.

I swear, sabermetrics still has a long way to go before becoming mainstream.

Kenny "The Basher" Rogers: 5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER.  Losing pitcher.  Manny Ramirez took him long over the Monster in the fourth.

Palmeiro is scheduled to start at DH tonight against the Blue Jays in Camden Yards.  Best of luck to him.

Raffy sure wasn't clutch in his return to the lineup.  One walk and three outs.

Now Baltimore hits the road.  I wonder if people will go to the ballpark specifically to give him hell?

I wish we had some answers.

Someone explain the triple crown thing....you have to lead the league in batting average and homeruns?

KC Royals: 18 losses in a row.  Fifth longest in the expansion era.  Can you IMAGINE being a Royals fan?!  What a disgrace.

Baseball triple crown is leading the league in batting average, home runs and runs batted in.  RBI is perhaps the most overrated statistic in the game; on base percentage and slugging percentage are much more accurate barometers of offensive analysis in baseball.
