    Minami’s letter to Yuko 14.03.21

    Dear Yuuchan

    I was very happy that I was able to be with you today, before Yuuchan’s graduation. When I reflect back upon the 8 years of AKB, I think the time we spent together may have been very short. The amount of times we ate together in private was once-when Atsuko announced her graduation.

    We both like AKB and we concentrate on our passions. I think that Yuko and I are similar. The thing that is different is that may be because I am the General Manager but I say my opinions out loud but Yuko is the type that doesn’t  need to say it and people that understand, understands- you are the type that speaks with their back. Because what we think are the same I think that even if we’re not together all the time it is okay just being together when we really need to.

    We’re not best friends;

    we’re comrades.

    When I said these words at an interview the staff said to me “Yuko-chan said the same thing”- I was like Ahh… we really felt the same way with each other and I remember it made me really happy. A lot of members have graduated and when we realised there were so little members from the same generation and we understood the feelings of being left behind so much that when Yuko told me that you were thinking of graduating you said to me “Sorry”.

    It’s okay.

    I know how much Yuko has put in so much effort into AKB. So please, bare your chest up and say “I’m going”. The hole that Yuko leaves behind will be really big, I won’t be able to fill it in by myself so I want to with the members… with the members who have looked at Yuuchan’s back- I want to protect AKB. It will be really sad but I will put my whole heart to send you off. The time left for you as AKB, I hope Oshima Yuko stays as Oshima Yuko.

In all honesty, even though she's co-hosting it, I'm finding this show to have very little "Yuko content" for my liking. As such, I'm not going to post any more eps here unless Yuko actually gets to DO stuff like how the featured guests get to do, rather than just be stuck in the studio, watching and commenting on other people going places/doing stuff.  Anyone who's wanting to continue to watch future episodes of the show can just click on the link for any of these first 3 eps that I've posted here so far, as they're all being uploaded by the same person, and it appears like he/she will continue to do so.

10 graduate members appear in the MV for Oshima Yuko's graduation song

On May 5, AKB48's soon-to-be graduate member Oshima Yuko held her solo event "Oshima Yuko Thanksgiving Festival" at Intex Osaka, and there, she revealed the music video to her graduation song "Kyou made no Melody" for the first time.

In the MV, not only the current members, but also 10 graduate members, who were 2nd generation members like Oshima, make their appearances.

The 16 current members who sing the song along with Oshima are Umeda Ayaka, Kashiwagi Yuki, Kawaei Rina, Kitahara Rie, Kuramochi Asuka, Kojima Haruna, Kojima Mako, Kobayashi Kana, Sashihara Rino, Shimazaki Haruka, Takahashi Minami, Matsui Jurina, Minegishi Minami, Miyazawa Sae, Yokoyama Yui and Watanabe Mayu.

The 10 graduate members include Akimoto Sayaka, Imai Yu, Ohori Megumi, Kasai Tomomi, Sato Natsuki, Takada Ayana, Noro Kayo, Hayano Kaoru, Masuda Yuka, and Matsubara Natsumi.

Oshima Yuko's graduation song "Kyou made no Melody" will be included in AKB48's upcoming 36th single "Labrador Retriever" (to be on sale on May 21).

Yuko mentioned Mayuyu on her interview from Sousenkyo Official Guidebook (thanks to ひかぴ @twitter):

Transcript: 『麻友には一度でいいから総選挙で一位を獲らせてあげたい。あの景色を見せてあげたいなって思います。ファンの方が押し上げてくれたセンターで、これこそ渡辺麻友という彼女の代表曲を持たせてあげたい。』

Basically Yuko said "I want Mayu to take 1st place even only once. I really want her to see that scenery (of being 1st). By being a center that's pushed up by fans, I want her to have a song that represent 'this is Watanabe Mayu'."
