The AKB48 Question Thread
« on: October 05, 2009, 07:40:37 PM »
Got a question related to AKB48? Ask away and someone will come along with the answer (hopefully haha).

Anything goes; where to buy their stuff, how to get tickets to the theater, member identification, etc, etc.

This should be a pretty swell thread, so let me start it off.

I'm always looking for AKB 'history' videos and was wondering if there were any audition/selection footages especially of teams K and B? I just need to know if they exist, then the hunt can begin.

Excellent question. I gotta admit I don't really know  :nervous  The only audition footage I ever saw was for Team S.

There are some clips out there with the history of AKB48, but I'm not sure if they include any audition footage.

Maybe someone else can pitch in? I'll try to do some research.

Well waddaya know... this video came out maybe a few hours before my first post!

[noembed]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI8J74Wca7U[/noembed]

While it is generally about the nature of the whole AKB setup, a little bit of the team K audition was shown! Sayaka looks so restrained even when she is obviously so happy while Yuko has not changed at all!

I do remember watching the "History of AKB48" video some time ago and it was great. Watching it brought back memories of Momusu's selling 50,000 singles challenge. Because of that whenever someone badmouths team A, I know that they truly deserve all the things that are going for them.

WHat's the deal with Suzuki Shihori? She's listed as promoted Kenkyuusei for the new Team B, but some sites say she's graduated? The official site doesn't mention her at all...

Shihori Suzuki quits AKB48

Mon, August 31, 2009 (2:07am EDT)

15-year-old idol Shihori Suzuki, currently belonging to AKB48's "kenkyuusei" team, unexpectedly announced on Saturday that she is leaving the group. The news came just a week after Suzuki was promoted to become a regular member of Team B.

Earlier in August, when AKB48 surprised fans with major roster changes, Suzuki was one of twelve kenkyuusei members who were chosen to join the main AKB48 unit this coming October. But according to her blog post, she said that when her promotion was announced, she realized her own "half-heartedness" and felt that she could not continue with her "naive way of thinking," while her peers were desperately trying to achieve their dreams. Instead of worrying and being unable to move forward as part of AKB48, she hopes to figure out her own dream by herself and work directly towards it.

Suzuki officially leaves AKB48 at the end of August, but she will still participate in a handshake event on September 20 as planned. Her last stage performance with the group was on August 29, when she announced her resignation.

Wow, that's quite a huge revelation to have at 15..

Can someone explain to me the 'Stage' concept? I'm really quite confused. I know a Stage album is basically a setlist of what the team performed on stage (is that right?), but are the songs re-recorded by the Team's lineup? And are the Stage songs written specifically for them?

The "stages" are the collection of songs a team performs at the theater for a certain amount of time. They are about a full album's worth and they usually rotate the stages every 6-9 months or so. Most stages are original, but the new Teams when they are formed usually perform an old stage or two before getting their own. And yes, each team records their own stage album, even if it's just a recycled stage.

Yeah that's a pretty good explanation.
You can see which songs are which using this lyrics website
http://stage48.net/studio48/
Click on the 'stages' button, pick a team and then you can see each stage they've done and what songs are in that stage.
If you have access to the media section Team B's 1st stage is up for download as an iso
http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=21562.0
(Team B's 1st stage is the same as Team K's 2nd stage...but obviously with different people)

Another point is akb48 only have 1 album, 'setlist'.  The rest are known as stage recordings.(I suppose you could akin them to soundtracks from theater performances as it were)

Ah, that clears it up a little bit.

So does Ax, Kx, Bx refer to the stages, rather than a 'generation' of girls? Or do they mean the same thing  :?

They refer to the stages. Like when Team B began, they did the "Seishun Girls" set of songs, so that was B1. Then, they did the "Aitakatta" set of songs, which is B2.

Actually, I kinda deleted that one yesterday because I wanted to make space for some new goodies :nervous

Sorry should have given a head's up about that earlier in case anyone still wanted it (which seemed unlikely to me...).

Not so much a question but more of a request for a recommendation. I'm still only 4 months into AKB so I'm not that familiar with a lot of stages. I downloaded A4, A5, and K2 mp3s a couple weeks ago, which I'm digging a lot. Which stages should I listen to next?
