Whoa EPIC post girl!! I've only seen a few movies. Guy had some DEEP insight on Star Wars in last month's Rolling Stone. Good that he gave Mark Hamill work.
Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strikes back have to be my favorites, esp. the scene where those chicks try to break into the lab and one of em farts :lmao:

Updates on Kevin Smith's Horror Film Red State
Kevin Smith has been in the news quite a bit recently, primarily because his latest comedy (Zack and Miri) is due out within the next few months, but as always, we're already thinking about his next film. The last we heard of Red State was in April, where Smith revealed some early details on his horror film that's about a group of misfits who encounter religious fundamentalists in the heart of the country. Now two new updates from the man himself have hit, one from STYD, the other from MTV, that shed a bit more light on the project. Not only is the film still searching for funding, but apparently it's going to be such a huge departure from Smith's previous work, that he wants people to "flat out not believe that I made it."
Smith told STYD in an interview recently that they're still looking for cash because "it's not a really commercial film at all. It's very bleak and very dark, and there's no one to root for in the movie, so it's a real film festival type of film, but it's not the kind of movie you can take into multiplexes and do a bunch of business with." The script is done and ready to go and they're only looking for about $5 million to shoot it in the Midwest with a bunch of unknowns. If you're still confused what exactly this is about, and why it's not very commercial, here's another tidbit from Smith. "It is definitely a 180 from everything else we've done including Zack and Miri but at the same time, it's not like a splatter film, it's not like slasher balls-to-the-wall gore, it's more unsettling and disturbing type of horror."
In a separate interview with MTV, Smith said that "the dream would be to have people watch the movie and flat out not believe that I made it. To pull that off would be cool." As hilarious as Zack and Miri was, Smith wants to challenge himself with Red State in order to prove he's not just a one-genre-wonder. "I'm interested in doing it to see if I am a filmmaker after all." he confessed. "If I can pull it off in another genre maybe I am a filmmaker. If it fails then I'm a dick and fart joke guy and I should stick to that." Smith adds that "there are no laughs in it. It's straight forward, creepy, unsettling horror. I'm aiming high. I'm aiming at the unsettling Rosemary's Baby kind of vibe. I also want to throw in a little of Race with the Devil which is one of my favorite scary flicks." Interesting horror inspirations, I must say.
Considering I'm a massive Kevin Smith fan, I'm obviously interested in seeing what he's planning to do with Red State. I'm not the biggest horror fan, but I'm always up for the occasional scare, especially when it's more psychological than gory. It's fun to juggle excitement in Smith's upcoming projects, considering we've got Zack and Miri due out in October, and Red State hopefully starting production by the end of the year. Even though it was way back in 1994 when Smith first burst into Hollywood with Clerks, he's still kicking ass even today. I hope Zack and Miri gives him the boost he needs to get the funding for Red State, because I definitely want to see it.

Talking about cartoon (Miramax owns the rights to Clerks) - he talked about making one about his dog which ended up talking to how his 2 Labs, one stupid, one pedigree, 1 weiner dog the size of a bottle that he got on a whim with his kid while the wifey was out. Well the weiner dog was in heed? The pedigree lab got horny, so they locked up the daschund in a cage but the male lab kept sticking his slimy dick in the cage at the tiny dog. Heavyweight moviemaker Kevin Smith is determined to shed the pounds after breaking a toilet. The Clerks director was playing poker at a friend's Los Angeles DVD and comic book store when he was taken short and excused himself. But when he saw the toilet bowl, which jutted out from a wall, he feared the worst - and the worst happened.
Red-faced Smith recalls, "That kind of toilet, with no base, is no friend to a fat man." And when he sat on the lavatory, it groaned and creaked and then came away from the wall. "The contents of the bowl was dangerously (rocking in the bowl). I'm trapped, I'm panicked and I hear somebody, like, on the other side of the door going, 'Everything Ok in there?'
"I've gotta throw myself off the toilet... and I do it and I hit the door." Eventually, his pal came to see what the commotion was: "I just point to the bowl and he looks at it and looks at the terror in my face and he realises we have a business relationship together and he goes, 'Nobody ever needs to know about this.' "That was the moment, where I was like, 'I got to lose some weight.' I broke the porcelain in half."

Puck Daddy talks hockey and movies with director Kevin Smith

Looking at his filmography, hockey has been as much a part of director Kevin Smith's films as candid language, comic books, "Star Wars" references and Jason Mewes.
The rooftop hockey atop the Quick Stop in "Clerks." Hockey violence as a metaphor during a frank sexual discussion in "Chasing Amy," not to mention Jason Lee's questioning of the Hartford Whalers' sexuality in the same film. And the roller hockey demons in "Dogma."
Hockey plays another major role in Smith's new comedy, "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," opening Oct. 31. The film, in which platonic friends Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks enter the world of amateur filmmaking for profit, features beer league hockey, scenes at The Igloo in Pittsburgh and perhaps the greatest goalie mask ever created.
Fun fact: I grew up one town over from Smith in Jersey. He's Red Bank, I'm Matawan, as I informed him at the start of our interview.
"Get out of here," he said. "But wait: Are you a Jersey native and a Rangers fan?"
No, New Jersey Devils fan, actually. Just like Kevin.
"Thank God, because every once in a while you meet those cats. All the South Jersey cats still maintain their loyalty to the Flyers, because they're like 'Hey man, the Flyers have been around before Devils and I liked hockey before the Devils showed up.' And all the North Jersey people are like, 'I've been rootin' for the Rangers for years anyway.
It's so weird that there's not more pride from people living in our own state over our own team. Like, they still feel the need to cheer on teams from two bordering states. I always just kind of found that disconcerting. I feel like if you're in Jersey, you have to be a Jersey Devils fan. Anybody born within the confines of the border of the state of New Jersey, I feel, should be a Jersey Devils fan."
And then he took a breath.
Our conversation ranged from the NHL to hockey in his classic comedies to how the word "Porno" in his new flick has caused some "Dogma"-level headaches for Smith. And yet the interview kept coming back to one basic theme: His lustful disdain for the New York Rangers fans' attitudes against New Jersey.
Smith became a Devils fan for two reasons: Jersey pride, with which he's synonymous, and a familial connection to the early years of the team in the Garden State.
"The team doctor, when the franchise first kicked off, was a local doctor in Atlantic Highlands, one town over from our town. My mother worked in his office, so she would bring me home Sean Burke's goalie stick and whatnot. So I became a fan early on, because I was getting autographed pictures from these cats at an early age," he said.
He embraced hockey as a sport around 1988, he said, while working at a rec center in Highlands. His best friend Walt Flanagan, a massive Devils fan, got him into playing hockey on tennis courts and watching hockey on television. "He filled my head with all the years of Jersey Devilism that I missed," said Smith.
Smith has become one of the most famous public advocates of Devils hockey, blogging about the team for NHL.com last season during its brief playoff appearance.
PD: I'd venture to say you're the most famous Devils fan since Joe Piscopo, which I'm sure you wear as a badge of honor.
KS: I do, man. Me and Piscopo, in the same league? I'm all for that.
I know, as a Devils fan, I've attempted to explain that being a fan is essentially like being a Jersey native. That they share the same traits: Humble, but angry; constantly defending every deficiency that you're associated with through birth or residence. Do you see the team as symbolic to Jersey as a whole?
Yeah, and for me it's no different than growing up fat. If you grow up fat, you have to try harder. Being a Devils fan, you just have to try harder. You have to be more patient, put up with a lot more ribbing from everybody else, and find your calm center.
As a Devils fan and a Jersey boy, what was it like seeing a hockey arena built in Newark of all places? I know the first time I was there, it was surreal to see this fantastic building and then two blocks over there's 10 nail salons and a guy selling discount electronics.
And two streets over from that: A mugging in progress.
It was great. I thought it was cool that they put it in the middle of Newark. It totally cleaned up that area. And it was the right thing to do. They were playing in a borrowed rink for many, many years. Stepping into The Rock for that first game last year against Ottawa was fantastic. Finally, this team has the arena they absolutely deserve.
It was great sittin' there for the first time. It would have been better if they had won that night. It would have been better if the first goal scored under the roof of The Rock had been a Devil as opposed to a Senator. I just try to erase that game from my mind and think about the next game against Tampa Bay as the first game. Because they handed Tampa Bay their asses on that one.
Part of being a Devils fan is the incessant defense of their style of play to other hockey fans. Have you experienced this?
Oh, every [expletive] and their uncle wants to tell you that, "The Devils ruined hockey with that trap [expletive] system of theirs." You can't argue with three Cups, dude. That trap system is three Cups. It may not be exciting hockey to you, but it's not about making it exciting -- it's about winning the Cup for heaven's sake.
It's a system that works, and you know how I know it works? Because now the [expletive] Rangers are playing the trap style. Now everybody [expletive] plays [expletive] trap style.
What is your general impression of Rangers fans?
I don't think people like being Rangers fans as much as they like hating on the Devils. That's how it always occurs to me, man. Nothin' wrong with the Rangers team, but their fans ... some of them are just so insanely ardent to the point of being insulting to every other team in the league, but most particularly to Jersey.
"You guys won a Cup, and you had a parade in your parking lot. Dude, we had a parade in Manhattan."
Well I'm sorry, we're not based on Manhattan. I don't know what to tell you.
You did strike a blow for the forces of good and light last year when you requested women who are with New York Rangers fans to withhold sex from them during the playoffs.
Yes. I don't know if it worked. But it was worth a shot.
Doing the hockey blog [for NHL.com] was fun, but it also opened my eyes in a weird way to how vitriolic Rangers fans can be. It's bad enough when you're sitting at a game, and you've got Rangers fans screaming at you because of a game going on that you have nothing to do with -- expect for the fact that you're rooting for the team that they don't like.
But dealing with those people in print? Holy cow. They get nasty, man. Suddenly they start attacking your track record in film. "What do you know? You made Jersey Girl."
And I'm like, "Aw, I can't argue with this. I did make Jersey Girl."
HOCKEY IN THE VIEW ASKEWNIVERSE (a.k.a. MOVIES)

I actually saw a sneak of "Clerks" at the National Amusements Multiplex Cinemas in Hazlet (NJ). You were at that screening, signing a bunch of posters with Jeff Anderson and other actors ...
Yes! I remember that screening!
... and I'm finally going to make penance here: I walked past your autograph table to go to the popcorn stand. And while I never verbalized this, I'm pretty sure I was thinking, "These guys aren't going to amount to anything, and I'm hungry." So I want to apologize, even if I should be apologizing to myself for not having that [expletive] to put on eBay right now.
[Laughs] Exactly, exactly ...
As far as the hockey in "Clerks" goes, I always felt that in another dude's script it would have been the guy who needed to get to his baseball game or to his pick-up hoops game at the 'Y,' instead of Dante and his hockey game.
I remember reading a review with a critic who said, "This filmmaker doesn't put comics and hockey in a movie to express something; they put it in there because they like comics and hockey." And that was exactly why I did it.
I liked hockey, and I still like hockey. If these dudes are going to try and break away from work to do anything, it ain't gonna be to play some [expletive] ball. They're going to play some stick.
Originally, we were intending to do it on the street, and then I said, "Let's try it on the roof." I had never been on the roof, and that roof was actually terribly small. You couldn't even do, like, a shootout up there. But through the magic of cinema, we were able to make it look like a decent game.
I hadn't seen hockey depicted in a film since like, what, "The Cutting Edge?" Prior to that, it was "Slap Shot." And you don't want to even count "The Mighty Ducks." So I wanted to give a shout out.
Is the worst depiction of hockey ever on film contained in Joel Schumacher's "Batman and Robin?"
Hands-down. And it was made even worse by Schwarzenegger's "KILL THE HEROES!" line. Ugh.
You kind of proved the critics wrong in "Chasing Amy" by using hockey as a metaphor.
I got to bring it in and use it to express something cinematically, and I was proud of that. But I've been able to sprinkle it into almost every flick, and on "Zack and Miri" I was at cross-purposes: The story is set in Pittsburgh, so they have to be Pittsburgh Penguins fans. When we go to shoot outside the Igloo, I can't have everyone wearing Devils jerseys.
And the Pens are totally a team I can get behind because I like that team. They're good fans, and they're just far enough away from Jersey that they don't bother you.
How does hockey fit into "Zack and Miri?" I know I saw Seth Rogen as part of some kind of beer league team, and did I see some photo of Jeff Anderson with a wicked hockey mask?
Yeah, Jeff Anderson's character Deacon wears a wicked goalie mask that's the old style mask, and it's got a puck planted in it. Like he got a puck slapped into his face so hard that it embedded in his mask.
In the movie, they play for a team called the Monroeville Zombies. There's also a lot of Pens paraphernalia hanging up in the movie. And one of the sequences in the third act takes place at the actual Igloo. Which I was really happy to do, because they're building a new rink there, and it was nice to kind of memorialize it in a movie that wasn't the Jean-Claude Van Damme/"Sudden Death" movie.
Do we actually see Rogen on skates?
You don't see Rogen on skates, but you see Rogen on ice. I assumed as a Canadian he would know a lot about hockey and skating, and he was like, "Dude, I may be the worst Canadian on the planet. I don't know anything about hockey and I can't balance on skates." So you don't see his feet. And that's because he's on sneakers.
Where did the concept of "Zack and Miri" come from? Personal experience, or do you have an appreciation of amateur porn like I do?
Like every red-blooded American male, and some red-blooded American females, I absolutely adore homemade porn. But if you scrape away the trappings of porno, the movie's kinda about how we made "Clerks." It's a story about a bunch of people who get together to make a movie, when they have no expertise or knowledge in the area of cinema at all.
In our world, that was "Clerks." In this movie, the movie they're making is a porno.
And of course, now you're seeing the "Dogma" effect again, where people are prejudging the flick based on their own moral code.
Yeah, we're taking a lot of heat for having that word "porno" in the title. But it really doesn't concern me that much, because most of the people who would object wouldn't see the movie in the first place anyway. You could call it "Zack and Miri Make a Movie," and it wouldn't matter because they're just not inclined to see an R-rated comedy.
What's the over/under on deleted scenes for the "Zack and Miri" unrated DVD?
I'm thinking about 45 minutes. Maybe a little more. Nothing that's "too hot for theaters" though; all the good stuff stayed in the movie.
How do you feel about the gripes regarding "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" ads playing during sporting events, like on Fox?
It initially happened during a Dodgers game, and people started calling in because there was an ad for "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" that ran in the 10 o'clock hour. Some guy was explaining to his kid what a bunt was, and then his kid turned around and said, "Oh, what's a porno?" because the commercial was on. And I guess that raised dander amongst some people.
All we keep hearing is that sporting events are family entertainment, so it's tough to run these ads without removing "Make a Porno" from it. And I just find that odd, because you can watch any number of "Monday Night Football" games where you'll see any number of commercials for erectile dysfunction drugs. How come it's cool to run a Viagra ad -- which, in essence, is an ad that says, "If you can't [expletive], this pill will make you [expletive]" -- but you can't run something that says "porno" in the title?
Which also clearly isn't porno! What's the last porno you saw that had "porno" in the title?
But I was so proud of the fact that at one of the last Devils games, they made the announcement in the third period: "Devils hockey, brought to you by ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno.'" And I was like, "Yes!"
LIGHTNING ROUND
A question we ask all our interview subjects: Your beer of choice, sir?
This is gonna make me less of a man: I don't like the taste of beer. Booze, in general, doesn't do it for me. I'm more of a Yoo-Hoo kinda non-man.
What's more disconcerting: Seeing yourself on the Jumbotron at a hockey game or on the big screen during a film?
Since the Jumbotron is still more novel, I'm gonna go with that. Although it's better at a Jersey game; the Pens put me on their Jumbotron once, and I got some good-natured boos from the Pens fans in my section.
If you were in charge of the NHL's marketing for one day, what exactly would you change?
My commercial would just be, "Hockey: It Will Get You Laid."
Finally, what happens first: A good "Star Wars" spinoff movie/TV show is produced, an above-average Superman film is released or the New York Rangers win another Stanley Cup?
Dude, I still have to go to New York every once in awhile, and I don't wanna have to fear for my life while doing so.

Kevin Smith Working on Hockey Movie 'Hit Somebody'
Like it or not, Kevin Smith is still going strong, even if Zack and Miri wasn't exactly the biggest hit. Not only is he lined up to direct A Couple of Dicks later this year, but he's entertaining the idea of a hockey movie, too. Oddly, it's based on the Warren Zevon song "Hit Somebody (The Hockey Song)" - which you can listen to here. As Smith explains, the song is "about a goon, a hockey goon. It's this very wonderful, soaring, moving story that's also bittersweet and very, very funny, about a hockey player who just wants to play hockey, who loves hockey so much, but just sucks at it." A Kevin Smith sports movie? Hell yes, bring it on!
Smith goes on to tell MTV, "the song's been one of my favorites since I heard it and I've always seen this whole movie behind. I got in touch with Mitch because Warren Zevon has passed on and we started talking about it and he was into it and into what I was kind of pitching." He's talking about author Mitch Albom, known for "Tuesdays with Morrie", who will be teaming up with Smith to adapt this. That goon that the song is about, since he sucks at hockey, "the only thing he can do to be on a team is just be the enforcer, just be the guy who goes out there and beats the sh*t out of people." Sound like something you'd want to see?
Smith is looking to make it sometime in 2010 or 2011, and he's selling it as "the one I really want to do in a big, bad way." It will be set in the late 1970s within the World Hockey Association, before those teams were absorbed into the National Hockey League. "It takes place during the last gasp of the goon era of hockey when it was all about fighting," Smith says. While it will be humorous (do any of his movies not have comedy?), Smith envisions it as being more dramatic, even hoping for awards possibility. "If I play my cards right and we get the right people in it, it could be an award-type movie." I'm already excited!

Writer, actor and director Kevin Smith has recently found inspiration in the Edmonton Oilers of the 1980s and this being the 25th anniversary of the team's first Stanley Cup in 1984 he felt compelled to attend his first-ever game at Rexall Place or "Mecca" as he puts it.
Smith, who recently finished directing "A Couple of Dicks" with Bruce Willis, has always found a way to include hockey in his movies - great films such as Clerks, Chasing Amy, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and Zack & Miri Make a Porno - so it's not a huge stretch that his next film, Hit Somebody, will be a movie about hockey.
Smith recently took the time to answer questions about hockey, the Oilers, visiting Edmonton and more. Q: Growing up in New Jersey, what was it that originally made you a hockey fan?
A: When the Devils opened their doors, my Mother was working for one of the team doctors; so we'd get free tickets and game-used sticks. But it wasn't 'til I started hanging out with my friend Walt Flanagan in 89 that I became a real puck-head. Not only were were going to games, but we were playing every weekend as well: tennis court ball hockey. Having zero skating or puck-handling ability, I was thrown in net, where I stayed from 89 to 95.
Q: What are some of your earliest hockey memories and some of your favourite players growing up?
A: Sean Burke was a fave, of course. And Kenny Daneyko.
Q: It's very clear that you have an affinity for Wayne Gretzky and the 1980s Oilers teams. What first caught your eye about those great teams from the 80s?
A: That's a recent affinity. I had what I can only describe as a kinda of breakdown last year; a pretty dark time for me. And in the midst of this, I watch this CBC doc "Hockey: A People's History". And it's so beautifully written and directed, I fall in love with the game again; I reconnect with hockey in a big way. The doc covers the Gretzky era as well, and his story, as well as the story of the Edmonton Oilers, really captured my imagination in this almost childlike way. Walter Gretzky's "Don't go where the puck is; go where it's gonna be" became something of a mantra for me, and I derived what I can only describe as spiritual inspiration from the fact that, 25 years ago in Edmonton, these kids put it together and did the impossible: brought a Stanley Cup home to their tiny market Canadian town. It became a sort of religion for me: blaze and watch "The Boys on the Bus" or any number of Gretzky profiles. And maybe I was just blazing too often, or maybe I simply needed someone/something to look up to for a change - someone or something that had nothing to do with my work/world. Whatever the reason, this quarter century old legendary hockey club started playing a HUGE role in my daily life.
It was probably solidified the moment I pulled on a Reebok Oilers t-shirt I'd ordered from Sears Canada and had sent to my friend Malcolm's place in time for the Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament last June. I was Googling an Oilers shirt in my size and found them in exactly one place: Sears Canada. I sweat like a pig, so I'd ordered seven and had totally forgotten about them until I got to Brantford, Ontario to play street hockey for the first time in fifteen years (at age 38). Malcolm dropped a box by my hotel room the morning I'd gotten into town, day one of the tourney. And as I was getting dressed, I suddenly had a panic attack: what was I doing? I hadn't gotten between the pipes in over a decade... and I wasn't in shape back THEN. And people were gonna be watching; and worse - SHOOTING VIDEO OF MY FAT-ASS IN GOAL. And just as I was about to call it quits, I opened the box to see all those Edmonton Oilers shirts. And they were beautiful: dark blue tees with a massive Oilers crest in the dead-center. And as goofy as it sounds, I was inspired by that dopey shirt. I pulled one on under my gear and threw myself out into my first (and VERY public) outing in net in fifteen years.
And it was awesome. I actually did not suck. It was the shirt(s). Had to be.
So now, I view those seven shirts as pretty powerful talismans. Whenever I step on stage now, I'm wearing one of those Oilers t-shirts. While I was shooting this flick "A Couple of Dicks" this summer, any time I needed an extra push or a simple totem to ward off evil, I wore one of my Oilers t-shirt. I keep all seven pretty obsessively accounted for because I now believe my entire well-being, both professionally and personally, to be tied up in those shirts.
Yes, I realize I may, indeed, be certifiable. But whatever works, y'know?
Q: Does any particular moment from the 1980s Oilers stand out for you more than any other?
A: The first Cup win still makes me cry.
Q: You remarked in your Twitter account that you finally wanted to visit Edmonton and see an Oilers game live. Was there anything in particular that made you decide you wanted to finally see the Oilers?
A: 2009 marks the 25th Anniversary of the first Cup win. I felt like I wanted to quietly observe it in my own personal way, so I looked at the schedule and realized the Yotes game would put Gretzky and Kevin Lowe in the same building at the same time, and that would be good enough for me (naturally, this was before all the weirdness with the League, Gretzky, and the Coyotes). So I booked a Q&A in Edmonton for around that time and put it into my schedule. Sure, Gretzky won't be there (neither will Lowe, who's scouting prospects on the road), but that wasn't the make-or-break part of the equation anyway; more about visiting Mecca, so to speak.
Q: Have you ever been to Edmonton before?
A: I've done two or three Q&A's at the Winspear in Edmonton - all before my Oilers conversion. The gig at the Meyer Horowitz the night before that Yotes game is gonna be religious because I've got a LONG story I tell about seeing the light, as it were.
Q: All of your movies have had hockey featured in it at one point or another but your next project - Hit Somebody - will be an entire movie based on the sport. What made you decide to finally make a movie on hockey?
A: It's just time. And man, is it gonna be the bomb (God-willing, not A bomb). I'm gonna wear my Oilers tees everyday of the shoot.

Kevin Smith Explains How 'A Couple of Dicks' Became 'Cop Out'
The trailer for Kevin Smith's new comedy Cop Out with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan just hit last night. The title of the original script was A Couple of Dicks, which is clever, but sadly too offensive for some. At one point it almost became A Couple of Cops, but the trailer confirms that it's officially Cop Out now, which is a "cop out" of its own. Anyway, Kevin Smith spoke with Entertainment Weekly and gave them the lowdown on the name change, including why it happened and other alternatives. "Look, losing A Couple of Dicks was almost akin to losing my own dick. It was a perfect buddy-cop movie comedy title. Everyone knew it."
You should read the whole story on EW.com, as Kevin's stories are awesome. Here are the important parts: Warner Bros. decided, "Hey man, we'll call the networks and see if we're going to get any problems [with A Couple of Dicks as a title], months before the movie's ever going to come out." The top 3 networks — CBS, ABC, NBC — said we can't run one of your spots before 9 o'clock. I'm like, "Well what about Inglourious Basterds?" And I guess, because of the spelling, they got away with it. So we were like, "Can we call it A Couple of D.I.C.s?" Because that's the proper acronym for detectives, Detective In Charge. And [the networks] kicked that back as well. It was the pluralizing of any form of dick, whether it was d-i-c-k or any derivation.
It always sickens me to hear this. We can say "damn" and "ass" on TV, but not "dicks"? What the hell, FCC? All credit due to Warner Bros., they tried really f—ing hard to score that title. It just came down to a point blank choice of run a campaign where you're not going to be able to advertise on the big three networks before 9 o'clock, or run a campaign where there are no hindrances. I came from a world where you play the ball where it lays.
And considering this is Warner Brothers' film, not Kevin Smith's, he let them make the decision this time. I don't want it to be A Couple of Cops. That just seems like we didn't even try! We went from a really clever title to the least clever title of all time. I was like, "God that title is going to feel like such a f—ing cop out." And [the producer] goes, "We should just call the movie that."
I liked it because it sounds like exactly what we set out to be: An '80s buddy cop movie, without sounding like Loaded Weapon, or some such s—. But more importantly, to me, the title tells the story of what happened to our other title. I think it's kind of ironic. It's win-win. Do you agree that it's win-win? Or is it just a lame cop out? I didn't have a problem with Zack and Miri's name change (they removed "Porno" from that). Same with this - I don't really have a problem. I think it's an okay name, I just hope audiences pick up on it. A Couple of Dicks would've been much more memorable, that's for sure, but maybe this will stick as well. "For 100 percent of the potential audience for this movie, I would say 0.5 percent knows that we were once called A Couple of Dicks." That's probably true, however, I'm not worried about the title, I'm worried about the negative reaction to the trailer.

Mostly it was about Mewes being a stalker at the hotel he was staying at, watching 2 couples doing it, how he went from loving comics to getting hooked on drugs, how he would've directed Thor and The Avengers movie (X-rated versions), and Kevin Smith directing a scene from The Dark Knight with Mewes as Batman and one of the convention volunteers as the Joker.
