I thought U.Conn. might be out, being down by about 6 points in the last minute or so of their game against Washington, but they came back to tie and then win in overtime. I assume they'll beat George Mason (an 11 seed), which means that if Villanova can beat Florida, it will very likely be Connecticut vs. Villanova to get to the final. (Being a Villanova alumni, naturally I'm rooting for them to continue winning.) I believe the two teams are pretty evenly matched, so I'm not sure there's a strong favorite in that match-up. I know towards they end of the season they played each other twice, once at each school, and went 1-1, so I expect that will be a tough game. That's assuming it happens, which of course it may not.
I was a bit surprised that Duke was knocked out. But there are still a lot of high seeds in the 8 -- only one team isn't a 1-4 seed. Of course, this is why they play the games. There are always upsets. If there weren't, then you could theoretically just rank the teams and go straight to the final four with the four #1 seeds.
