Can you IMAGINE what other fans of J-pop music are saying about H!P/MM when they read about the latest news of member "graduations"? Is it laced with sympathy or ridicule? Or sarcasm?

Being a fan of Musume Proper has got to be one of the most trying experiences in pop music. Attempting to get someone to even consider being a fan in light of the annual news of member exodus must be equally difficult. It sure has been that way for me through the years, beginning with Ishiguro and Ichii in the same damn year. And having my favorite members being forced to leave the group always makes me feel pissed off.

But, as Nacchi is fond of saying, life goes on.

They're leaving in a good way and Konno's leaving on top.

If it was a situation like Mari's departure, I'd be devastated. As it is, I don't really mind. Maybe this is the right time.

Plus they're both leaving to do things with their lives - not just get stuck in limbo like Kei and Kaori. That's an upshot too in my opinion.

Something tells me this isn't the last time we'll hear the name Konno Asami too.

There's a concert in Osaka tomorrow, I think. Hopefully both of them will elaborate more concerning their graduation then.

Dammit. I'll kinda miss Konno, she's was starting to grow on me a lot lately, but Mako? This shit sucks. Well, I at least hope the best for them in the future. I was in the process of making a Mako OPV, too.

THIS SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say when ever those "who is gonna graduate next" threads were on, i'd always say Pi-Mako and Konkon. I kinda predicted this, but it still really hurts. I was so hoping Risa was next (apologies to Risa). What sucks even more is with all the recent graduations, and with the death of the first few generations (and the almost death of my beloved 4th gen), i was warming to the 5th gen. Konkon ........ she was my fave out of the current MM. I was just recently mass acquiring konkon media. That face, who can say no to it? Tsunku couldn't, i can't. And Makoto, don't drop the comedian! Who is going to come up with the wise cracks? Makoto never really got the chance.... I know she isn't up to "Ace" material, but......

In saying all that, Konkon was always destined for a university education. She is going to ace those university entrance exams. She has got a bright future, i really believe she is going to be succesful in whatever she decides to do (anyone know what degree she is planning to do?)

In regards to Makoto, HUH?!!!! Study abroad? If it's her decision, fair enough. She knows whats good for her better than i do. All the best Makoto, but i really wish you stayed in the entertainment industry.

When I read I was kind of shocked... Persoanlly I'll miss them both, most Makoto. I mean they were in some of the "classics" like Mr. Moonlight and Souda! We're Alive, so it feels boring. For Morning Musume as a group I think Konno will have the most "negative" effect. But at the same time this will make room for faces as people mentioned.

That graduation concert is gonna be a sad one...

It's just with the photo books so soo, you'd think she was secure.
But it makes sense given she can't sing. She has no potential for
solo career.

I can only hope for folk song appearances, guest emcee at concerts or
sports events.

I will miss her honest, earnest smile.

can't wait to see their faces on the next h!m or wherever to make me feel better..

anyway in 3-4 years after they've finished their studies i'm sure the reunion of the 5th generation would make me cry like a baby.....

Excuse me just taking my post from Jpopmusic, and just putting it here.

I think the old me would have been very upset at this news, particularly as Pon-chan was my fav member, and still is one of my favs.

However, ever since returning to Hello! Project from my 5 month break, my admiration for them has changed to something somewhat deeper.

And now, I actually think that this is great news. Morning Musume wouldn't be Morning Musume without changes and unpredicted happenings, and whilst it will be sad to see these 2 depart from MoMusu, particularly as the 5th gen is my fav gen, I think its very good that they're going to pursue further studies now.

They've enjoyed over 5 years in one of the most unique (if not THE most unique) musical act in the world and will very much be missed.

I am doubtful about the fact that they'd return to H!P though. I mean, we've never had a graduation out of the music industry, only to return back. And plus, I presume after their studies, they'll have new goals in life. Though, I'd still like to see them make an appearance back with the rest of the girls at least once or twice upon completion of their studies.

But, MoMusu will still continue, so I will continue to support them until the day Tsunku runs out of members to graduate.... -_-;;

Best of luck to Pon-chan and Mako-chan!

(I wonder what Pon-chan hopes to study at uni??)

although she is funni and she is working hard to get notice...

Anyways...WHOA. Pretty surprising news. I remember the rumors Makoto was gonna leave due to contract dispute haha but to go because of "studies" ... reminds me of when sports coaches/players retire or resign "because they want to spend more time with their family."

I guess I can say I'm numb to all this. Seen too many graduations already.
