"A Surplus of Lies"... Well, I haven't found a better name, and I'm with Christmas' hangover, so I don't wanna think much about another one XD
And well, I guess the title says much about the story, so I'll stay with this one... For now :grin:
And lastly, about the pairings... There will be a lot XD
CHAPTER 1
“Maki? Are you listening to me?” The shorter of the two girls asked annoyed.
“Yes…” The taller was in her own little world, not even looking at her companion.
“Maki? Look at me…”
“Yes…”
“Erm, this… Maki, you know I’ve been cheating on you with Aika since we started to date?” The younger was losing the little patience that she always showed to her girlfriend.
“Yes…”
“Maki!!!” She yelled irritated.
“What?!” She jumped surprised. “Baby, don’t be so loud!”
“I have to be! Would you mind listen to me?!”
“Ok, ok, sorry, but you don’t have to shout, Reina!” The older girl scolded.
“Oh, really? Well, can Miss Goto say why she doesn’t stop spacing out lately?” Reina asked, while her girlfriend stared at her a little distracted again…
“Yes…”
“Maki!!!! Wake up!!” She yelled furiously.
“Oh, s-sorry, my queen.” The soloist muttered.
“Are you ok? Is something bothering you?” Reina asked worried.
“Oh, yes, I’m fine… It’s just that I’ve been stressed at work…” She said in a low voice… and her girlfriend sighed, half worried, and half relieved since she at least could catch her attention.
“Ok, let’s say I believe you… you know I don’t, though…” She whispered looking at Maki, who was a little distracted again… “Maki!!!!”
“Ahhh! You’re going to have a deaf girlfriend if you keep doing that, damn!”
“No! I’m going to have a dead girlfriend if you keep doing that!” The shorter snapped.
“Ok, ok, sorry...” Maki said trying to calm Reina.
“Yeah, yeah… Now you say you’re sorry, and then you’ll be spacing out again…” The younger pouted, piercing Maki with her gaze.
“C’mon, don’t look at me like that! Let’s go, we’ll go shopping…” She said, jumping out of her couch and taking Reina by the wrist.
“Ok… but you pay!”
“I guess it’s fair…” Maki replied laughing.

“Ai-chan!”
“Oh, hi Gaki…” Ai said with a sad voice.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” She said observing her friend. “Lately you’ve been weird…”
Ai gave her a surprised look. “Really? I don’t think so…”
“Maybe you don’t think so… but it’s true…” Risa cut her off.
“I’m ok, you don’t have to worry…” Ai said cracking a weak smile.
“I know… And well, after all, you’re old enough to take care of yourself…”
“That’s right!” She said with a fake cheerful tone, while checking her clock. “Oh, sorry Gaki, I have to go, I’ve got leader business. See you!”
“Bye…” Risa replied as Ai closed the door of the dance room, leaving her behind.
Risa couldn’t help but feel betrayed. She knew Ai was hiding something to her… and she was her best friend, or maybe something more…
“Ai… When will I be able to say that I love you…?”

CHAPTER 2
“So what do you think, Kame?”
“I don’t know, Gaki…” Eri said in a bored tone.
“Oh, come on… Can’t you see how weird is she acting?” Risa asked worried.
“Well, I see that she’s acting strange lately… But maybe she’s just stressed or something like that…”
“It isn’t that!” Risa cut her off.
“And why are you so sure?”
“Because… erm…” She muttered, trying a reason for say that.
“Because?! Because?!” Eri yelled impatiently.
“Because… it feels like is something sentimental…” Gaki replied as Kame looked at her.
“Eh?!” Eri asked surprised. “Do you mean that she’s in love or something like that?!”
“Well… yes…” Risa admitted reluctantly.
“I see… So that’s the problem…”
“What problem?” The slightly older asked puzzled.
“Well, I guess you’re sad cause you love Ai-chan…” She chuckled.
“Thanks for reminding me…” Risa said in a low voice. “I don’t know… It’s true that I love her… and I want her to tell me the truth…”
“Yeah, well. But obviously she’s not going to tell you something like that all of sudden…” She states.
“Yes… But I’ve asked her what’s wrong with her…”
“And what did she say?”
“She said that she’s ok.” Risa replied almost whispering. “But it sounded like an excuse…”
“Why?” Kamei asked, cutting her off.
“It sounded like an excuse because she runaway from me after that!” Risa said irritated.
“I see…”
“…” Niigaki didn’t say a single thing, she was lost in her own thoughts.
“What are you going to do?” Eri asked.
“About what?”
“About this… I think you should confess to Ai…” Risa looked at Eri wide eyed.
“What?! But how I’m suppose to say that?!”
“It’s the best that you can do…”
“No it isn’t.” She cut Kamei off. “I can’t go to Ai-chan and say to her how much I love her.”
“Yes, you can.” Eri stated.
“No.” She simply replied. “And what about you? If you think that it’s so easy to confess to someone… Why don’t you confess your feelings to Tanakacchi?”
“The situation is completely different.” She said.
“And why’s that?”
“Well, she’s dating Maki… And I’m not going to interfere between them… I wouldn’t do that to Reina…”
“Yes, but you could confess to her before she started to date Goto-san…” Risa stated.
“Yeah, but I always knew she was in love with her… So I decided to let her go… In fact I said to her she had to confess to Goto…”
“You did that?” Risa asked stunned.
“Yes…”
“You really love her, don’t you?”
“Yes…” Eri said in a low voice. “Risa, you shouldn’t loose your chance… as I did… go and confess to Ai.”
“I see…” Gaki-san muttered. “But what do you mean with “loose your chance”? It seems like you…”
“Like I had a chance with Reina? Yes.” Eri replied simply, leaving Risa stunned. “But I was a coward, and that was a really long time ago…”
“But… If you had your chance… then why…?”
“Simple,” Kamei cut her off. “Sayumi appeared in the game… and I hurt Reina’s feelings. Then, I tried to fix the things with her… but she had fallen in love with Goto…”
“That’s so sad…” Risa said softly.
“Yeah, but that was a really long time ago. So don’t worry about it.”
“But what happened between Sayu and you…?” Risa asked curiously. Kamei always avoided to talk about what happened between them… She hid it even to her best friend…
“I don’t want to talk about it.” Eri said sincerely. “But, hey, don’t change the subject! Just try to talk with Ai-chan… I’m sure that she wants to talk with you too, lately you’ve been distant with each other.”
“You think she’ll talk to me?” Risa asked.
“Yeah… She’s just the way she is… maybe she hasn’t been in a good mood lately…”
“Maybe…”
“Don’t worry about her, I’m sure she’ll be fine anytime soon.”
“Thanks Kame-chan!” Risa said, giving Eri a small kiss on the cheek. “I’m going to search for her. I’ll call you later, ‘kay?”
“Ok!” Kamei said, with a fake cheerful tone in her voice. “Good luck.”
Eri gazed at Risa, while the older was walking towards the door.
“Maybe one day…” She whispered, in a really low voice. “Maybe, Reina…”

CHAPTER 3
“Tell me what it is!” Reina yelled at her girlfriend.
“It’s nothing…” Maki replied at her for the hundredth time, in a bored tone.
“Oh, come on!” The shorter cried. “Tell me what it is!”
“It’s nothing…”
“Come on! What has been wrong with you lately?” Reina asked another time.
“Nothing has been wrong with me lately…” The soloist replied even more bored, as she opened her apartment’s door.
“And why do you keep spacing out then?”
“I told you!” Maki replied smirking. “Too much stress at work! It’s just that I’m tired…”
“That’s the worst excuse that I’ve ever heard from you!” Reina exclaimed dramatically, as she flopped down on Maki’s couch.
“The worst? Oh, please, I’ve said a lot much worse than this one.” Maki laughed, while the shorter looked at her.
“Very funny, indeed…” Reina pouted.
“Oh, come on… Do you really have to look at me with your puppy eyes?” She asked sceptically, and she sat down next to Reina.
“Yeah…” She replied, giggling. “But, hey, it’s just that I’m worried about you…”
“I know you’re worried, but you don’t have to be…” She cut her off, poking the younger on the cheek. “And, besides, I’m older… So I should be the one that worries the most.”
“Whatever…” Reina said reluctantly, as Maki hugged her and started to smooch her cheek and her neck…

“Come on, Ai, you can do this!” Ai yelled to herself as she practised her dance.
It was obvious that she was upset with something, maybe even angry. Her voice tone was way too aggravated…
“This isn’t going to disturb me!”
But as Ai continued with her monologue, someone entered in the room… And the leader of Morning Musume didn’t notice this person…
Risa observed Ai as the older yelled furiously while dancing…
“She isn’t going to interfere in my way!” She screamed in such a loud tone, that Risa thought she would end up deaf… But soon her thoughts about her hearing sense disappeared, as she noticed something weird in Ai’s words…
“She?!” Risa asked dumbfounded.
Ai turned around, and looked at her friend wide eyed.
“How long have you been here?” The older asked.
“Long enough to hear that…” Risa whispered, looking at Ai, who was trying to find an explanation.
“I was screaming to de-stress myself.” She said simply.
“I know…” Risa replied slowly. “But what do you mean by “she”?”
“…” Ai didn’t reply, she just looked at her friend with a sad face.
“Ai… I…” Risa muttered. “You… This means that the thing that has been bothering you… is…?”
“What?”
“Erm… Maybe a love problem…?” Risa asked, almost with fear in her voice.
“…” Ai stopped looking at her, and just started to avoid her friends gaze. “I’m not going to lie at you, Gaki-san. So, yes, maybe…”
“What do you mean…?” Risa asked softly, half worried, and half broken-hearted, because of Ai’s words.
“Well, I guess we’re old enough to know what I meant…” Ai said coldly.
“Oh, yeah? So… Who is this person?” The younger asked, trying to hold back her tears.
“It’s none of your business.” Takahashi replied even more coldly.
“But… we’re friends…” Risa muttered.
“Of course we are. But one thing is friendship, and another one is the privacy…” Ai replied simply. “So, I’m not going to tell you anything.”
“…” Risa looked at her lost in her own pain, but Ai didn’t notice this.
“So, don’t ask me anything more about this never again.” She concluded leading towards the door. “See you later.”

“And then… she told me that one thing was friendship… and another one her privacy…” Risa chocked, as Eri hugged her, trying to calm her.
“That girl is such a jerk…” Eri thought aloud, making her friend giggle.
“Yes…” She said, as she started to sob again.
“Hey, don’t cry… Tell me what happened after that…”
“She went outside… and left me alone in the dance room…” Risa whispered snuggling into Eri’s chest.
“Completely a jerk…” The other replied. “I wonder who is it...”
“Who knows…”
“Yeah…” Eri chuckled. “Knowing Ai… That person could be even Tsunku…”
“Kame! That’s such an unpleasant image!” Risa laughed.
“Yeah, totally disgusting…”
“Well… What do you think…?” The older asked.
“About what?”
“Well, you said that I should confess my feelings to Ai… But now…” She said muttering.
“Hmm…” Eri said as she thought. “I still think that… But probably you should wait, until the things calm down a little…”
“I’m not sure…”
“Whatever…” Eri changed the subject. “It’s late, and we’re both tired… So go home, get some sleep, and we’ll think more about this tomorrow…”
“You’re right…” Risa said as she hugged Eri.
“I’ll see you tomorrow then.”

Meanwhile, Reina and Maki were peacefully sleeping, when the soloist’s mobile rang…
“What the hell…?” Reina said as she clunged closer to Maki, if that was even possible. “Who the hell is calling this late…?”
“The job…” The older whispered, catching the mobile with her right hand, while her left arm rested under Reina’s back.
“Yeah?” Maki answered her phone.
“…” Reina tried to get the other line of the conversation, but she was way too sleepy to hear it.
“Yes…”
“…”
“Yes…”
“…”
“What?! Right now?!” Maki yelled irritated.
“…”
“Ok, ok… I’ll be there as soon as I can…” She concluded the conversation.
Maki looked at Reina begging for forgiveness. The younger caught the indirect, even knowing that she was half asleep.
“Oh no…” Reina said embracing Maki tighter. “You’re not going anywhere…”
“But we’ve got an issue at work…”
“What kind of issue?” She cut her off.
“A huge one…”
“You’re not going to stay here, even if I tell you to do it, right?” Reina said with a stern tone in her voice.
“Well…”
“Ok… You may go…” She gave up. “I’m starting to believe your excuse about being stressed at work.” She chuckled.
“But, aren’t you angry?” Maki said surprised at her girlfriend’s reaction.
“Yes… But I’m too asleep to start an argument right now…” She said drifting back to her sleep, as Maki get up and started to dress herself.
“Thanks!” The soloist said, kissing her girlfriend’s cheek before start leading towards the door.
“Yeah… But I’ll start it tomorrow… So don’t be so relaxed…” She laughed before fell completely asleep again.
She looks so cute… Maki thought to herself.

Ai-chan was laid in her bed, looking at the ceiling.
“When did I become like this…?” She asked, as she started to cry. “What have I done…? Risa… She just worries about me… And I’ve treated her like that… But well, I’ll fix this later… Now I’ve got a huger problem to solve…”

So are Ai's problem and Maki's problem different? Or will we have to wait to find out?

It seems to be an interesting rift between Ai and Risa but Maki and Reina are just too separated from each other and Maki seems to not be in love with Reina, more like friends than lovers

Reina woke up all alone…
“She hasn’t come back yet…”
As she cursed her girlfriend’s bosses, her own mobile rang…
“Yes?”
“Hi, Tanaka-san!” A cheerful voice squealed.
“Hi, Aika, what’s up?”
“Nothing really… Tsunku just want us practice a new dance… So…”
“So we have to be there early.” Reina cut her off.
“Correct!” Aika replied giggling. “So can you come?”
“Yeah, I’ll dress up and be there in a minute.”
“Ok, see you.”
“Bye…”
Reina looked at her mobile lost in thought…
“These jobs are making the things difficult for us…” She said softly. “But I won’t let anything separate me from Maki…”

“Eri!”
“Oh, hello…” Kamei muttered.
“Eri… I wanted to talk with you…” The black haired girl said.
“About what?”
“About us.” She replied simply.
“Us?” Eri asked sceptically. “Sayumi, listen, you always bring that topic up, and I always end up saying the same…”
“There’s no us.” Sayumi closed her partner’s sentence.
“Right…” Eri said in a stressed tone. “So, if you’re aware of it… Why don’t you stop?”
“Because…”
“Because…” Eri mimicked her words.
“I’m not sure…” Sayumi said. “I guess… It’s just that I miss you…”
“Sayu, that’s impossible.” Kamei stated.
“Why?”
“Because you cannot miss me in that way since we were together just some hours.” Eri said, someway aggravated.
“Well, we were dating just some hours…” Sayumi said in a low voice. “But we passed a night together…”
“Did you have to remain it?” Eri asked sceptically.
“…” Sayumi looked at her.
“What are you looking at?”
“It’s… It’s because of her… right?” She asked.
“Because of who?” Eri asked, completely aware of what Sayumi was referring.
“Because of Reina…” She replied looking at the ground. “You hate me… Because you lost your chance with her…”
“Sayumi… Don’t you understand it?” Eri asked. “It’s not “her”… She’s the love of my life… So what did you expect?”
“Don’t know…” The other replied. “I thought that if you loved her that much, you wouldn’t do what you did with me…”
“It was a mistake…” Eri said coldly.
“Maybe, but it wasn’t only my fault…” Sayumi whispered.
“Yes… I accept that a part of the fault is mine… But you wanted to destroy my relationship with Reina…” The older said, and led towards the door, leaving Sayumi behind.
“Wait!” The other begged. “Why are you saying that? I didn’t want that… I knew it would harm you…”
“Then… Why did you tell Reina what happened between us…?” Eri hissed, looking at Sayumi briefly.
“How…?” The younger was stunned, she didn’t know that Eri knew what she said to Reina. “How… do you know what I said to her…?”
“I know more than you think...” Eri replied, exiting the room, and slamming the door as she did so.

Sayumi was walking in circles in her room, as she thought about Eri’s words a few hours ago…
“How did she know this…?” Sayumi thought aloud. “How did she know I told Reina what I did with her…? Now I understand why does she hate me…”
“Eririn? Why are you crying?” Sayumi asked, as she approached her friend, who was sitting in a couch.
“Nah, it’s nothing…” The other replied weakly.
“Is it… Reina again?”
“Well… yes…” She admitted reluctantly.
“What has happened?”
“Nothing…” Eri replied chuckling. “That’s the problem…”
“What do you mean…?” Sayumi asked, as she leaned her head onto Eri’s shoulder.
“Well, I mean it’s always the same…” The older replied. “I always give the first step… But when I try to go further and tell her how I really feel… I just can’t continue…”
“But, do you think she feels the same…?”
“Yes. In fact, I don’t think so, I know it…” Eri said wiping away her tears. “But when she tries to do something about this… I push her away…”
“And why’s that?” Sayumi asked dumbfounded.
“Don’t know… I guess I’m way too scared to give another step with her…” The older replied.
“Why?”
“Because I’m afraid to loose her… I mean, what will happen if we go further, and then we realise that it’s a mistake…” Eri chocked. “I don’t what to loose our friendship…”
“I see…” Sayumi said, hurt by Eri’s words, since she was a little in love with her. “But, maybe I can help you to forget her…”
“What do you…” Eri couldn’t end her sentence since Sayumi pressed her lips against hers…
“I kissed her… But it wasn’t really my fault… Since I was in love with her…” Sayumi said as she remained the short amorous relationship that she had with Eri. “The problems came the next morning…”
The next morning, Sayumi woke up naked on Eri’s bed…
But Eri wasn’t there…
“Where’s this girl…?” She said as get up from the bed.
Sayumi dressed up, and found her new girlfriend sitting on her couch… lost in thoughts.
“Eri, what are you doing?”
“Nothing…” She replied.
“Are you ok? You’re pale…” Sayumi asked as she approached Eri.
The younger sat down on the couch, but when she tried to capture Eri’s lips, the other turned her head, avoiding the kiss.
“What was that?!” Sayumi exclaimed.
“Listen… Sayu… I can’t do this…” Eri said as she started to sob. “I can’t do this… This will hurt you…”
“What are you saying…?” The younger asked. “This won’t hurt me!”
“Yes, it will…” Eri replied. “You’ll end up hurt… Because I’m in love with Reina… And you’re aware of that…”
“So… Are you leaving me…?” Sayumi asked fearful. “You have just passed a night with me... and now you leave me…?”
“Yes… I’m sorry, Sayu…” Eri said crying.
“Do you think I’m a toy that you can use like that?!” The younger yelled, cutting the older off.
“No, Sayumi…”
“You’ll regret this!” Sayumi yelled as she got up from the couch, and led to the door.
“Sayumi, wait!” The older demanded.
“No!” Sayumi yelled loudly. “Do what you want! But remember: You are going to regret this!”
“Eri begged me from forgiveness since that day… But one day she stopped… I guess someone said to her what I said to Reina… But who? I've never said anything to anyone…” Sayumi said as she continued with her monologue, with tears in her eyes. “Funny… I guess now I’m the one who has to beg for forgiveness…”
“Reina-chan, what are you doing?” Sayumi asked to her fellow Rokkie, who was deeply distracted.
“Oh, nothing. I was just thinking…”
“About what?” She asked, cutting her friend off.
“Umm… Well…” Reina muttered, trying to find a proper explanation.
“About Eri?” Sayumi asked, with a sadistic purpose.
“Well, yes…”
“You’re in love with her, aren’t you?”
“Yes…” Reina admitted surprised. “But how do you know…?”
“Oh, it’s a long story…” Sayumi said, cutting her off again. “But believe me, you shouldn’t let Eri betray you…”
“What?” The slightly younger asked dumbfounded.
“Oh, Eri is such a liar… I mean, you can’t trust in her…”
“Eh?!”
“Oh, yes… You shouldn’t trust in her… Because she might break your heart…” Sayumi said, trying to convince Reina of Eri’s evil purposes.
“What are you talking about?” The Fukuoka girl asked, half worried and half fearful, because of her friend’s words.
“Oh, I’m trying to protect you from her…” Sayumi said. “You should be grateful… No one was there for me to protect me from her…”
“Why did you need to be protected?” Reina asked, with a suggestive look on her face.
“Because I was in love with her… As you are…” Sayumi whispered. “Then she made me believe that she was in love with me… and took me to the bed with her…”
“What?!” Reina exclaimed, wide eyed.
“And the next morning… She broke up with me…” Sayumi concluded, with a fake pain expression on her face.
“…” Reina stood there frozen. “Sayumi… When did this happen…?” She muttered.
“Oh, just some weeks ago…”
“Oh…” Reina whispered. She was really pale, and about to cry.
“You ok?” Sayumi asked, trying to hide the feeling of satisfaction on her voice.
“Yes…” The younger said, as the tears were starting to appear in her eyes. “Well, gotta go, bye…” She said as she started to run, to hide her tears from Sayumi.
“After that… She forgot Eri… And she fell in love with Goto…” Sayu said, as she stopped walking in circles. “That left Eri broken inside… I’m such a horrible person…”

“Hello. Are you busy?” Maki had lied to her girlfriend… The call wasn’t from the job.
“Yes…”
“Liar. It’s way too late for you to be busy. You were sleeping… with her, right?”
“Yes…”
“You know that I don’t like this situation… But well, changing the subject, can you come over to my place now?”
“What?! Right now?!” Maki yelled irritated.
“Yes, I don’t blame you if you don’t want to come… But maybe Reina wants to know what kind of relationship we have… ” The girl on the other line said, in a musical tone of voice.
“Ok, ok… I’ll be there as soon as I can…” Maki concluded the conversation.

As Maki was taking a bath, the guilt started to fill her body. But she couldn’t stop what she had started, since Ai-chan knew a lot, and she was way too close to Reina.
“What should I do…?” Maki thought aloud. “I want to be with Reina and forget about all this, but Ai won’t make the things easy for me…”
"But maybe Reina wants to know what kind of relationship we have… ”
"Relationship..." Maki continued. "Reina... She thinks we're friends... But in fact we're rivals..."
Maki arrived at Ai’s apartment as soon as she could, as promised.
“Hi…” Ai said teasingly as she opened her door. “As punctual as always…”
“Yeah.” Maki replied as she entered in the apartment. “It’s really late, what did you want…?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Ai cut her off. “What do you think? That I’ve call you at this hour to play chess with you?”
“No.” Maki replied. “But I can’t believe you have called me, when you know I was with Reina.”
“I can’t believe that you’re saying that.” Ai stated coldly as she sat on her couch. “You don’t care about Reina.”
“Well, maybe you think so…” The older said. “But I do care for her.”
“Liar.” Ai said simply.
“What?”
“If you care so much for her, you wouldn’t cheat on her.”
Maki stood up, looking at Ai. She was clearly affected by the younger’s words.
“What now?” Ai asked. “Are you mute?”
“I didn’t want to cheat on her.” Maki said at last. “And that stopped a long time ago…”
“Oh, please.” Ai cut her off. “You’ve never told her… So it’s like keep on cheating...”
“No, it isn’t.”
“Yes, it is.…”
“No, it isn’t!” Maki stated irritated. “You know that if I haven’t told this to Reina, it’s because it would hurt her… And she might leave me…”
“Well, if she does that, it’s just because you deserve it.” Ai stated as she started to read a magazine, while Maki was still observing her. “You started all this…”
“No.” Maki snapped all of sudden. “I didn’t start this, it was her…”
“No…” Ai said giving the older a suggestive look. “You had argued with Reina, and thought that you two were over… So you started to look for consolation one night…”
“And she appeared.” Maki closed the younger’s story.
“That’s right.” Ai said giving her a smile.
“But that wasn’t really my fault. She caught me out of guard.”
“Yes, well… But you two solved your problems the next day…” The younger said. “But you continued with your little secret… And you didn’t break up with her.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, if you had leave her when you two solved your problem…” Ai explained. “I wouldn’t say anything to Reina, in fact I would understand why did you cheat on her. But since you went on with this…”
“So you’re saying that I should have left her earlier.”
“Well, you can say it like that.” Ai replied. “But you can also say that now you have to tell Reina the truth…”
“But, why?” Maki said looking at the ground. “That would be devasting for her…”
“She’ll know it one day… You better tell her now…” The younger whispered. “Before she’ll notice it for herself…”
“Or before you tell her.” Maki said giving Ai a suspicious look.
“Do you really think I’ll tell her…?”
“Well, you haven’t talk about this topic for ages…” The older whispered, piercing Ai with her gaze. “But now, you’ve started to talk about it again…”
“Because I saw it…”
“You saw what…” Maki retorted fearful, afraid of what could be Ai’s discover.

“…” Suddenly Maki looked to the ground again, avoiding the younger’s gaze.
“You said to me that you had left that girl to be with Reina… And she said the same… But I guess you’ve come back…”
“No… It’s just… The other day…”
“I don’t want to know it!” Ai yelled. “I’m just telling you that you must tell Reina the truth! Don’t cheat on her…”

“Because if you continue without telling Reina, and she ends up hurt because of you…” Ai whispered and she took a long pause. “I swear, you’re going to regret it…”

Risa walked Eri home, and made sure she was fine. After their conversation, the younger just couldn’t stop crying, much to the worry of her friend. But the worry just grew bigger when Risa received a call when she got home.
“Yes?”
“Gaki-san…” The girl on the other line said as she cried. “I need to talk with you…”
“Hmm, I’m not sure if I want to talk with you at this moment…” Risa replied doubtfully.
“Eri told you, right?”
“Yes…”
“But please, come to my place…” Sayumi begged. “I really need to talk with someone… And you have to know the two versions of this story…”
“And what’s the other version?” Risa asked suggestive. “The one you told to Reina?”
“No…” Sayumi said crying even harder. “The same one as Eri’s… but with my point of view…”
“Sayumi, I don’t really know if I want to listen to it…”
“Please, Risa…” The younger whispered.

As Maki was still thinking, someone knocked on her door. She ran her corridor only wrapped in a towel to open it… But that someone was an unexpected guest…

“I’ve come to see you.” The younger said softly, pushing Maki lightly, in order to enter in the apartment.
“Ai-chan, you saw me this morning…” Maki whispered as she saw how the younger sat down on her couch, and looked at her grinning.
“Yes, but we only argued… And I had another plans…”
“What kind of plans?” Maki asked irritated because of the younger girl. “Don’t tell me, you’re going to say that I have to tell Reina the truth…”
“Yes.” Ai stated simply with a suspicious look written all over the face. “How do you know? Am I that obvious?”
“Yeah…”
“I see…” The younger whispered. “But I’ve worked with Reina this morning and she didn’t seem sad or something…”
“…” Maki kept silent, since she knew where the conversation was leading.
“So I’ll guess… That you haven’t told Reina anything…”
“I haven’t seen her in the whole day…” Maki said, sitting next to Ai.
“Oh, but you could tell her that you had to see her…” Ai stated.
“…” Maki just nodded a little. “But I was busy…”
“You weren’t…”
“Yes, I was…”
“If you were so busy why were you taking a bath…?” The younger asked suggestive.

“Yes… I didn’t have to do that… But I couldn’t avoid it.” The younger said softly. “I was way too hurt…”

“But why you couldn’t avoid it?” Risa asked curiously. “I mean, I know that you were hurt, but you could at least keep it from Reina…”
“I don’t know…” Sayumi mumbled. “I guess I wanted to hurt Eri… And I knew Reina was her weak point… But now, I regret it…”
“Of course you regret it, I’m sure you aren’t that bad…” Risa chuckled. “You should apologize to her…”
“No, I guess I don’t deserve to be forgiven…” She whispered.
“Oh, come on, don’t say that!”
“No, Risa. However, she won’t forgive me.”
“I’m sure she’ll do it…” Risa said as she smiled. “You just have to try it…”

She did lay low the first time..she had even given Maki chance to patch things up.. but was caught the 2nd time.. But she didn't go to Reina straight and gave Maki the choice to confess to avoid Reina heart being broke the same way that Eri broke hers.. Ai-chan gave her nothing but CHOICES~ We're see how Maki makes her way through~ XD

But today was snowing, and I didn't have to go to classes nor work XD So I've finished this chapter...
CHAPTER 10
“What?! She was going to confess her that day?!” Sayumi asked stunned.
“Yes…”
“Oh my god… She must hate me more than I thought…” The younger said looking at the floor.
“Well, she has her reasons…” Risa said, defending Eri.
“Yeah, I know it…” Sayumi admitted. “But now I guess Reina deserves an apologize too…”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean if I didn’t interfere between that day… Probably, they’d be together now…”
“Yeah… But you can’t change the past.” Risa stated. “So you can’t really do anything about it…”
“True…” Sayumi agreed. “But I can’t help but feel guilty.”
“That’s because you’re guilty…” The older said sceptically.
“That’s true and I’m not going to argue about that…” Sayumi said, laughing lightly.
“Yeah…”
“But still, I’ll apologize to Reina too…” The younger whispered. “After all, this isn’t her fault, and she paid a huge part of the consequences…”
“I’m glad to see that you’re going to do the right thing…” Risa said smiling sweetly to Sayumi.
“Eh?”
“I mean you can see that you’ve done something bad, and you regret it…” She stated as Sayumi looked at her. “Seems like you’ve put apart that narcissistic point of yours…” She concluded laughing.
“Well, thanks. I’ll take it as a compliment…” Sayumi chuckled.

Maki turned around and looked through the window. She wanted to punch Ai so badly, that she started to think how much time she will stand her… Maki just wanted to get rid of her, and spend some time alone to have time to think.
“Hello…” The irritating girl said, trying to wake Maki from her space dreaming.
“Ai-chan… You know that this plan of yours is going to fail…” The older said softly, without even look at the other girl.
“No, it won’t.”
They kept silent for a while, and Ai got up from the couch, in order to stay right next to Maki. As they stared at the empty street through the window, Maki’s mobile rang. The older wasted no time in catch it, but when she saw who was calling her, she throw the object on the couch.
“I guess it’d be stupid to ask who is…” Ai said sarcastically, as she sat leaned down in a wall. “You’re not going to answer?”
“What do you think?” The other replied as she led her way to her bedroom.
“Hey, where are you going…?”
“To dress myself up, I’m still in a towel.” And she closed her door behind her, while Ai looked around her.
The apartment seemed pretty normal, but there was one thing that caught her attention. She approached a photo that was resting on the table.
“Cute, indeed.” She thought aloud as she had a better view of the picture. “Maybe it’s from better days…”
Maki was embracing Reina from behind, and both had these great smiles put on. But judging her haircuts, Ai started to think about something else.
“What are you looking at…?” Maki asked, now fully dressed and with a towel over her shoulders. “Ah… I love that photo, you know…”
“When did you take it?” Maki started to think about it.
“About… Erm… Ten months ago…” She stuttered. “Or at least I think so…”
Ai looked at Maki intensely, the other wasn’t even aware of that fact, she seemed to be distracted, to be thinking about something else.
“Ten months ago?” The younger asked with a devious smirk. “Weren’t you at that time passing a lot of time with the other…?”
“Don’t bring that topic up again, please.” Maki replied, trying to avoid another argument now that the things had cooled down a little. “I don’t want to talk about it, and you know that.”
“What a pity…” Ai retorted teasingly. “You’ll have to talk with Reina about it very soon…”
Now it was the turn to Maki to look at Ai-chan intensely, the rage was reflected in both Ai and Maki’s eyes. She approached the younger, probably to send her out of the apartment, but just as she made an attempt to take Ai by the arm, someone interrupted her.
“Hi, Maki you know that…” The short girl realised that her girlfriend wasn’t alone. “Ai-chan? What are you doing here…?”
“Well…” Ai’s cold gaze turned into a warm one as soon as she saw Reina, the same happened to her voice. “I was here, paying a visit to Maki.”
“For what?” Reina asked, and Maki, fearful, turned her attention to Ai.
“For…” The leader wanted to say the truth, but surprisingly she just couldn’t do it. “Erm… Well, I needed help with a dance move so I asked to my sempai.” She lied with a smile.
“I see…” Reina replied softly, looking at her girlfriend. “Maki? You ok? You’re pale…”
“I’m fine… Really…” The older assured her, while she put a hand on her forehead to check if she had fever.
Ai looked at Reina’s kind gesture briefly, and the jealousy started to fill her body even more when she saw the short girl giving her girlfriend a quick kiss on the cheek. Since she couldn’t take it anymore, Ai quickly led to the apartment’s door.
“Well, gotta go girls. Bye…” And she closed the door, leaving Reina dumbfounded. She looked over Maki to find an explanation, but the older just shrugged.
And suddenly they heard a loud noise outside.

“Don’t know, probably, someone have dropped something…” Maki lied knowing that the noise came from Ai’s own rage.

“Morning, Eri!”
“Hi, Gaki?” Eri replied with a weak smile, it was obvious that she was still concerned. “Whatcha doing?”
“Nothing, really…”
“Don’t lie…” Eri said gazing at Risa.
“Ok, I was looking for Ai-chan…”
“Have you thought about her?” The slightly younger asked.
“Yeah, I’ve spent all the night awake thinking…” Risa replied, as she stretched.
“Well, we’re two in that case…” Eri stated laughing and Risa smiled at her.
“So, you’ve been thinking too…?”
“Yeah…”
“Just about Reina?” Risa asked, earning a slightly cold gaze from Eri.
“No.” She stated simply as she sat on the floor, and started to stretch too.
“Eri…” The older whispered putting a supporting hand on Eri’s shoulder. “Sayumi regrets what she did…”
“What are you talking about?” The younger asked in an irritated tone, looking deeply at her friend.
“Eri, she wants you to forgive her…”
“And how do you know that?” Eri cut her off.
“Because she has told me…” Risa replied, in a low tone.
“You’ve talked with her?! After what I told to you?!” Eri asked scandalized.
“Yes…”
“I can’t believe it!” She got up from the floor, and didn’t look at Risa, who was a little dumbfounded because of her friend’s reaction.
“Eri… please… don’t be like that…”
“Don’t be like that?!” Eri yelled. “Well, if you want me to not be like that, please, explain what the hell were you doing with Sayumi!”
“We just talked about what happened between Reina and you…” Risa explained as she got up too, and approached Eri. “She wanted me to hear her point of view of the story…”
“What point of view?” Eri asked as she started to look at Risa again. “There’s no other point of view. She just told lies to Reina, and that’s it. End of the story…”
“Yes, but she wanted to say to me that she’s sorry…” Risa stated, in a calm voice to try to appease Eri.
“I don’t know why… But I can’t believe that…”
“She’s truly sorry, Eri…”
“Impossible. Sayumi loves herself too much, and always thinks that she’s right.” Eri exposed smirking. “She’s too narcissist to see her own mistakes…”
“Well, that’s what I thought. But this time she wants to do the right thing, and…”
Risa couldn’t finish her sentence since someone entered abruptly in the room.
“Kamei-san, Niigaki-san, the rehearsal is cancelled!”
“Oh, hi Aika-chan.” Risa greeted her kouhai. “But why?”
“Lack of members…”
“Lack?” Eri asked stunned. “No one never fails to come to the rehearsals…”
“Yeah, but Takahashi-san nor Tanaka-san have come today so…” Aika explained.
“Reina hasn’t come?” Eri asked surprised.
“And Ai-chan neither? How strange…”

While then, Ai was laid on her bed looking at her slightly purple fist.
“I guess I didn’t have to punch the wall…” She mumbled to herself, with an affected smirk. “What can I do…?”
Suddenly, something glow passed across Ai’s eyes, and she got up from her bed abruptly. She approached her closet and took a little box, which rested under a pile of clothes.
Ai sat on her bed again and crossed her legs, as she started to search for something inside of it.
“Damn! Where is it…?!” She asked to herself as she threw the content of the box on the bed. “If I find it… This will be resolved…”
And then, Ai’s gaze stayed locked into a certain photo which had fallen from the bed to the ground.
“There it is…!”

“Feeling better…?” Maki asked as she entered in her room, with a glass of water, a thermometer, and an aspirin.
“No…” Reina responded weakly from under the bed’s sheets.
“Hey, take this…” The older said, sitting right next to Reina.
“What’s that…?”
“An aspirin, it will make your fever go down.” She stated smiling and observing Reina as the younger took the medicine and gulped down the water. “Ok… Now sleep some more…” And Maki made an attempt to go, but Reina took her by the hand.
“Where are you going…?”
“To the kitchen…” The older replied slightly surprised because of Reina’s weird reaction.
“Can you… stay here?” She asked and Maki laughed.
“I’m going to be a few steps away, if you need something you can call me.” She replied amused.
“Yeah, but I want you to stay here…”
“Oh…” Maki was about to agree, but suddenly her mobile rang.
It’s Rika… She thought, and looked over to Reina, who was still waiting for an answer.
“If you have to go…” She said weakly, as settling back on the bed. “It’s ok…”
“Erm…” Maki stuttered looking at the mobile.
“It’s from the job…?” The younger asked, trying to find a response from Maki.
“…” Suddenly, the guilt appeared on Maki’s body, remembering her that she didn’t want to loose Reina. “Nevermind, I’ll stay here.”
“Really?” Now was Reina’s turn to be surprised. “You sure…?”
“Yeah.” Maki cut her off, as she plopped down into the bed. “I’ll stay here… With you…”

“At home…” The older replied coldly, without looking at her companion.
“Um… I see… Were you ill?” Risa asked, in order to start a conversation with Ai, since she wanted to clear up the things with her after their argument.
“No.” Ai replied simply.
“So… then… why didn’t you come?”
“Risa… don’t start again…” The older begged, as her hostile attitude grew bigger and bigger.
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t you remember what I told you about my privacy?!” Ai asked even more hostile, trying to intimidate Risa, probably to stop her from making more questions.
“Hey, hey, hey…” The younger said, poking her friend’s shoulder. “I was just asking you why you weren’t here yesterday! There’s no need to put the defensive mood on…!” She stated to calm her obviously irritated leader down.
“…” Ai stood there observing Risa, like if she was thinking about something.
“Why are you looking at me like that…?”
“Oh… it’s nothing…”
“Ai-chan! Your manager wants to talk with you…!” Eri shouted, as she entered in the room.
“Oh, ok…” She said, and led towards where her manager was.

“Takahashi, could you, please, answer me with more than a word…?” The manager asked, loosing the little patience that she learned to show to the forgetful and oblivious leader.
“I was resting… There’s nothing more to be said.” Ai replied with a smirk.
“Ai, listen, I understand that you were tired. But if you couldn’t come, you could at least say it before and explain why you weren’t going to come.” The woman stated.
“I know, sorry.”
“I know that you’re aware of that, Takahashi, and you’re the leader…” She took a pause before continuing. “I shouldn’t be remaining you this kind of things…”
“…” Ai stood there with a blank expression. It was pretty obvious that she wasn’t listening at all to her manager.
“Do you get what I mean?”

“Yes.” She replied quickly again. “May I go now…?”

“No… Am I that important?” The shorter asked smirking, earning a muffled laugh from her friend.
“Of course you aren’t. Takahashi-san is the important one.”
“And that means…” Reina tried to understand what JunJun was saying.
“That she didn’t come neither.” Jun replied simply.
“Ai-chan didn’t come?!”
“No.”
“Weird…”

“Hey. What are you doing?” LinLin asked approaching her mates.
“Talking about Takahashi-san’s disappearance yesterday.” Jun replied.
“Yeah, do you know something Lin?”
“No, what can I know…? I’m a mere kouhai here…” The youngest of the three of them replied dramatically.
“Yes.” JunJun agreed laughing. “But let’s be serious for a moment, don’t you think that she’s acting weird lately?”
“We’re talking about Ai-chan.” Reina replied. “She is always weird.”
“Yes. But haven’t you seen that she’s weirder… Much more… She doesn’t even talk with Niigaki-san!”
“Yeah! I’ve noticed that too…” LinLin stated. “And that is weirder than the usual Takahashi-san.”
“Hmmm. You know, she was in Maki’s apartment the other day…” The shortest said. “I’ll ask her if she knows what's wrong with Ai…”

Well, it's been hard for me to write these past hours... The horrible news about Maki are making me the things difficult to write about her... And, apart from that, these kind of news always brought up memories to everyone... That kind of memories that the people like me prefer to bury...
I'm very sensitive when it comes to these subjects...
CHAPTER 13
Maki looked at her mobile’s screen stunned, lost in terror. The message that Reina had sent to her was making her feel nervous about several things.
“Ya know what’s up with Ai-chan, right?” It was kinda impressive to see how such a short question could make the soloist so extremely scared, in fact, she throw the mobile at the couch as if it had a type of contagious illness.
“Ok, Maki, think…” Maki said to herself aloud, and started to walk along the rest room. “She’s just asking if I know what’s wrong with Takahashi, this doesn’t mean that she has discovered my story with Rika… Nor that this crazy girl has insinuated her anything about it…” She suddenly stopped her march. “But if she doesn’t know or suspect anything… Why the hell is she asking this to me…?!”
Suddenly, she grabbed her mobile and started to type a response.
“What do you mean? Has she said something to you?”
She was about to send it, but stopped when her logical intelligence started to work again.
“Wait a minute… If I respond her with a question like “has she said something to you?” she will be the one who will start to make questions…” She retorted to herself quietly. “She’ll ask why I’m asking that… And that’s the last thing I want…” She removed the un-send message quickly.
Maki tried it again…
“She seemed normal these past days…”
… But she had to remove the message once again.
“No… This isn’t the best I can say… Because Reina doesn’t know how many times we have seen each other lately…” She thought. “And if I say something like this she’ll ask if I’ve seen her more than once… Since she thinks that I’ve only seen Ai the other day, when she caught us talking in my apartment… And then, she’ll ask why we have seen each other so much… And I don’t want that either…”
Third try…
“She seemed normal the other day…”
At first sight it looked a good response, but Maki didn’t think that way, and removed this message too.
“No good… I know Reina too well… And she didn’t ask anything about Takahashi’s visit last time ‘cause she fell ill… If I tell her this she’ll remember it and will start to make questions…” The soloist whimed, and plopped onto the couch where she had threw the mobile earlier. “Damn, Goto, think… A bad movement in the love’s game and you can end up in a badly… Shit…”
And then, she received a message.
“Oh, no… Reina again?!” She looked at the screen quickly, and calmed down a little when she saw who had texted her.
“I’ve got to talk with you. Can we meet at the café next to my place at seven?
- Yossie.”
Maki, relieved and a little surprised because of Yossie’s message, gave a response almost immediately.
“I’m coming!
- Goto.”
“If give a response to Reina right now would be as easy as give this one…”

“So, have you talked with Eri…?”
“Yep!”
“And…”
“And she seems to don’t want to forgive you!” Risa said cheerfully to Sayumi.
“And why are you saying this like that…? Why are you so cheerful?”
“Because it’s better to see the bright part of this right now…” Risa replied and winked.
“And that part is?”
“That Kamei will forgive you… She just needs time.” The older stated giving a warm smile to her kouhai. “So don’t lose hope!”
“Ok…” Sayumi agreed.
“Well, now I’ll leave you alone with your thoughts. Bye!” And she went back to do her business, while the younger looked at her from behind, maybe a little longer than the necessary…
“Risa…” Sayumi thought. “You’ve been so good to me since we met…”
“Hey, Michishige-san…” Aika greeted coming out of nowhere. “Why are you looking at Niigaki-san so deeply?” She asked with a devious smirk.
“What are you insinuating, you little baby…?”
“Nothing, nothing… But the glow in your eyes wasn’t normal…” She stated in a musical voice.
“Mind your own business!”
“Ok, sorry…” And the youngest of the group went away.
“A special glow in my eyes…? Am I... No, it can’t be…”

“So what is it, Yossie?”
“Well, I don’t know how explain this…” Yossie explained nervously to her old friend as she sipped her coffee. “Erm… It’s about Rika.”
Suddenly, Maki’s blood freeze, she was in a complete state of tension, probably thinking of she had got caught, and Yossie noticed this.
“You ok?”
“Y-Yeah…” Maki stuttered, pretending that she was fine. “What is it…?”
“Well… She’s been little distant with me lately…” She explained calmly. “Well… not exactly a little… She’s been a lot…”
“And… What do I have to do with this…?” Maki asked.
“Nothing, really.” Maki relaxed when she heard that. “But since she called you the other day… I wondered if she had said something to you…”
“I didn’t see her.” The soloist retorted quickly, maybe too quickly. “But however… You shouldn’t worry so much… Maybe she’s just stressed…”
“But I’m afraid of loosing her!” Yossie cut her off, and Maki tried to analyze what her friend had just said…
Yossie sounded fearful, very unlike her. To Maki, her reaction almost looked like her own when she thought about the idea of loosing Reina.
“What do you mean… what do you mean with “loosing her”?” Maki stuttered nervously, afraid of Hitomi’s response, because she knew where that words where leading.
“Listen… We haven’t told this to anybody yet…” And Yoshizawa took a long pause.
Maki swallowed hard, she knew what her friend was about to say.
“We’re dating… And I’ve got the feeling that she’s cheating on me…”
