Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger (English pronunciation: /ˈʃwɔrtsənɛɡər/, German: [ˈaɐnɔlt ˈaloʏs ˈʃvaɐtsənˌʔɛɡɐ]; born July 30, 1947) is an Austrian American bodybuilder, actor, businessman, and politician, currently serving as the 38th Governor of the state of California. Schwarzenegger began weight-training at fifteen. He was awarded the title of Mr. Universe at age 22 and went on to win the Mr. Olympia contest a total of seven times. Schwarzenegger has remained a prominent face in the bodybuilding sport long after his retirement, and has written several books and numerous articles on the sport.

Schwarzenegger gained worldwide fame as a Hollywood action film icon, noted for his lead role in such films as Conan the Barbarian and The Terminator. He was nicknamed the "Austrian Oak" and the "Styrian Oak" in his bodybuilding days, "Arnold Strong" and "Arnie" during his acting career, and more recently the "Governator" (a portmanteau of Governor and the Terminator, one of his film roles). As a Republican, he was first elected on October 7, 2003, in a special recall election to replace then-Governor Gray Davis. Schwarzenegger was sworn in on November 17, 2003, to serve the remainder of Davis's term.

Schwarzenegger was then re-elected on November 7, 2006, in California's 2006 gubernatorial election, to serve a full term as governor, defeating Democrat Phil Angelides, who was California State Treasurer at the time. Schwarzenegger was sworn in for a second term on January 5, 2007. In May 2004 and 2007, he was named as one of the Time 100 people who help shape the world. Schwarzenegger is married to Maria Shriver and has four children.

Schwarzenegger coming to Canada

Last Updated: January 5, 2011 12:05pm

Former California governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger will be heading to Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal later this month for his first speaking engagements since leaving office.

Conference organizing company tinePublic Inc. announced Schwarzenegger will be in Calgary on Jan. 25 for a lunch event at the Telus Convention Centre, Winnipeg's Fairmont Hotel that evening and in Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Jan. 26.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger is a truly iconic global figure with an incredible life story," the press release announcing the speeches said. "Canadian audiences will be the first to be inspired by this truly amazing story."

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal also announced Schwarzenegger will be speaking there on Jan. 27.

"After Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, George W. Bush, Alan Greenspan and Sir Richard Branson, we are proud to welcome Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger to our forum," Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of the Board of Trade, said in a release. "Mr. Schwarzenegger's visit reaffirms Montréal's position as a top destination for leaders on the international scene who want to share their vision of the challenges we are facing."

Schwarzenegger, a Republican, was elected the 38th governor of California in 2003 and left office Jan. 3. He is perhaps better known for his roles in movies such as The Terminator series, True Lies, and Kindergarten Cop. He didn't take on any starring film roles while governor, although he does have an uncredited appearance in the 2010 action movie, The Expendables, and Terminator Salvation in 2009. Prior to acting, he was a bodybuilder. He has said he is considering a return to acting.

The Comeback! wait is over!

Schwarzenegger Set to Return to Film Acting
2011-07-14 09:46:15     Xinhua       Web Editor: Xie Tingting

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to return to Hollywood some seven years after his last movie act, Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation confirmed on Tuesday, July 12.

The embattled movie-star-turned-politician will appear in the movie "The Last Stand" as a border-town sheriff who unexpectedly has to deal with an escaped drug kingpin.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger will bring incredible magnetism to this complex but classic role," said Joe Drake, president of Lions Gate's Motion Picture Group.

The movie, which is based on a speculative script by Andrew Knauer, will be directed by South Korean action-and-suspense master Kim Jee-woon, Lions Gate said.

The movie will be the first which Schwarzenegger will star in since "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines", which was released in 2003, shortly before he kicked off his first campaign for governor.

FUCK YEAH! Finally.

I heard that as soon as the love child story came out, the movie people decided not to make the movie with him after all.
Did you see the picture of the maid he had the love child with? Why would he choose that over Maria, who is pretty good looking?

eta:

They built a statue for him, go check it out if you in Columbus, Ohio area: After a first oversize Arnold statue was unveiled last year at an Austrian museum dedicated to Mr. Schwarzenegger's life, hosts and organizers of Columbus's Arnold Sports Festival approached Mr. Schwarzenegger about getting a duplicate for Veterans Memorial, the convention and concert center that hosts the festival.

Here's one of my favorite prank calls from years ago. It uses an Arnold soundboard.

"Whatever your name is...get ready for the big surprise."
"Under the beautiful blue sky"

Let's get the book!! Arnold's new autobiography: http://www.amazon.com/Total-Recall-Unbelievably-True-Story/dp/1451662432

Quote
Release Date: October 1, 2012

One of the most anticipated autobiographies of this generation, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall is the candid story by one of the world’s most remarkable actors, businessmen, and world leaders.

Born in the small city of Thal, Austria, in 1947, Arnold Schwarzenegger moved to Los Angeles at the age of twenty-one. Within ten years, he was a millionaire businessman. After twenty years, he was the world’s biggest movie star. In 2003, he was elected governor of California and a household name around the world.

Chronicling his embodiment of the American Dream, Total Recall covers Schwarzenegger’s high-stakes journey to the United States, from creating the international bodybuilding industry out of the sands of Venice Beach, to breathing life into cinema’s most iconic characters, and becoming one of the leading political figures of our time. Proud of his accomplishments and honest about his regrets, Schwarzenegger spares nothing in sharing his amazing story.

For a second I thought he was gonna redo total recall
