This was my main hobby 10 years ago. We even played at confirmation school, which was kinda brave, because there was people who thought roleplaying has something to do with satan worshipping.

Too bad I didn't have time and right kind of friends to play in high school.

Yeah I used to play, mostly as a DM, since no-one else wanted to do it.

We started as kids with Runequest, and it went way over our heads, so we played some classic DnD instead. Then we got back to Runequest, and I still think it's the coolest pen and paper RPG ever. Basically we tried dozens of games and that was the only one we played more than a few times. I still have most of the Runequest rule- and sourcebooks.

But I haven't played anything in years, have to admit.

I used to play D&D in grade school and high school, but stopped after that.  After moving for college, I never really went looking for a new group or anything.  I just went on to other things.  Still, I did enjoy the game when I played it.

Bound together by a desire to play "Mazes and Monsters," Robbie (Tom Hanks) and his four college classmates decide to move the board game into the local legendary cavern. Robbie starts having visions for real, and the line between reality and fantasy fuse into a harrowing adventure.

My friend and I did pen and paper role playing during recess in elementary school, but instead of "writing", we drew what was happening XD

I'm in an exalted game and I've been trying for -months- to get a Buffy/WoD crossover game going (buffy rules, WoD-style setting), but alas, no one likes slaying vampires as much as me T_T

hehe that sounds pretty cool Arian. You'll have to show some of the drawings.
Bummer there, Tris. I like to watch buffy (SMG is mad hot). But yea it seems people would rather play vampires than kill em

Yep Roleplay is pretty cool. Ive been running the same adventure for last 13 years (might be 14) so at least the players must be enjoying it. :D

How much interest is there in other roleplaying games?  I'd love to try running a Paranoia session at sometime.  It's fine if you haven't played before/don't know the rules, since for most of the rules it's against the rules for players to know them.  It's an easy game to pick up, once you get into the spirit of it.  And there's a nice java client+server people have made for playing it online.

Dystopian future with a heavy comedy element.  http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/series.php?qsSeries=19  There's the publisher's page for it, gives a good description.  http://www.paranoia-live.net/content.php?article.48 There's a short guide to the client for playing it online and an intro to the game itself.

And it's not something that really needs a big commitment, a single adventure usually isn't more than a play session or two and it's near impossible for anyone to live long enough to run a campaign like in other games.
