PV preview for Yamitsuki Company, one of my two favourite new idol groups this year (the other one already disbanded after a only few months...)

These lot look to have more lasting power with this fancy MV. They've already had a Nagoya one-man and have announced a Tokyo one-man in January. And another one in Nagoya in May.

Btw, Katsuki, who used to be in the group Camouflage, is in this group now. They are based out of some maid cafe in Nagoya, lol.

Yamitsuki Company now put out the full MV for 『病ンデレ///Sickness』

They held a one-man yesterday, there's a nice report here: https://www.barks.jp/news/?id=1000137641

Osaka SSFW new video. Trying a bit too hard to be sexy? That one move (you'll know it when you see it) is a bit much.

In comparison, Bed In, who are usually way more trashy/sexy, are kind of tame for their new single.

Read today that a member of this group got pregnant from a wota and after having an abortion was dismissed by the group agency.

So there's a Japanese TV show called Nehorin which discusses topics and has the guests appear as pig puppets to preserve their anonymity. The last two episodes have been on underground idols. Their names etc have been changed and voices distorted. I wish I could really understand what's going on. They were very interesting, mostly talking about the idols relationships with fans. They discuss things like what happens at lives, buppan and handshake events, creepy fans, stalkers, the love ban rule (one of the idols saying she has f*ck buddies). There's also things in there that I didn't know existed, some idols who play the pocky game with fan or take handbra chekis etc (was interesting to see Japanese fans post these in reaction to the show after). Anyway here are the episodes:

Follow-up to the Tomita Mayu stabbing incident from 2016.

AramaJapan.com - Defendant in stabbing idol Mayu Tomita over 20 times pleads guilty
- http://aramajapan.com/news/defendant-in-stabbing-idol-mayu-tomita-over-20-times-pleads-guilty/71717/
- http://www.news24.jp/articles/2017/02/20/07354635.html

And for anyone who doesn't remember, here's the first post from this thread that spoke of the incident:
Well, it's probably worth summarising what went down today.

So, a solo idol by the name of Tomita Mayu https://twitter.com/tomitamayu got stabbed 20 times by a fan. The guy was arrested and she's in hospital.

http://matome.naver.jp/odai/2146383063523654301

If the rumours are true about the identity of the guy's twitter account, he's been stalking her and sending her creepy messages for a while.

This is really horrible news and I hope the girl will be okay, and that nothing like this happens again, but seems like there are always crazy people...

I hope the girl makes a full recovery. Wishing her the best.

Last time, after the AKB stabbing, there was increased security from a number of groups, some groups have already reacted to this, AP announcing baggage inspections etc.

Seems like 2017 is the year for idols to come to England again...

First we have Necronomidol on the 4th of July at the Water Rats in London.

Then, Moso Calibration on the 14th/15th July at the Hyper Japan Festival in London.

And Juice=Juice is later in the year, also.

There's a documentary film about idols and idol otaku going up at Sundance. Called "Tokyo Idols"

Here's a video and written interview with the director, who is a Japanese woman who left there at 26:

https://blog.womenandhollywood.com/sundance-2017-women-directors-meet-kyoko-miyake-tokyo-idols-4bce98d0ecf4#.t3bouds5c

The trailer for the film is rather less interesting than the above:

An article:

http://mashable.com/2017/01/21/sundance-tokyo-idols-review-superfans-pop-music-movies/

(I don't like the way it seems to only focus on Hiiragi Rio, rather than being broader, but maybe in the sense of the film it makes more sense to focus on one act, and one main otaku, will be interesting to watch it!)

Edit: Review: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/tokyo-idols-965983

This film is out now!

For British people it is available on iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08w9lvb/storyville-tokyo-girls#group=p05601vw

For others there are some copies on youtube

I liked it a lot! It mostly followed Hiiragi Rio and her TO, as well as excursions into some other groups. Despite not caring for any of the groups, it maintained excitement throughout, the scenes of the idol lives were really exciting and caught what made them special, and I like how i focussed on the relationship between the idol and the fans. For a short documentary it was great, and really captured a lot of excitement about idol lives and why people like them. Good job  :thumbup

Yeah that was my thoughts as well, for the short duration it managed to get you involved in Rio's career and get a feeling of what some fans are like.

When I saw it last night the comments on the one I saw was extremely negative which I really don't I think it was a really fair depiction with no real bias. You can always argue what they chose to show was bias in itself but again I thought it was fair.
