BIO
The 1/2 Chinese (of Taiwanese nationality) and 1/2 Japanese Takeshi Kaneshiro may have started out as a puerile teen idol in the Chinese entertainment scene, but he's since become a proper film star in his own right. Whether by his own design or not, the boyishness that marked his first steps into showbiz has evolved into a cool, somewhat reticent demeanor that has now become his trademark. Despite being effortlessly good-looking, he chooses to strike a sometimes-uneasy balance between the commercially pleasing and the quirky in his choice of film roles - a move that's unusual for Asian leading men. But whether he's the faithful lover in the Japanese AIDS drama "Kamisama mousukoshi dake" (1998), the canned pineapple-eating cop in Chung hing sam lam (1994) or awkward in his role in Misty (1998), a remake of Akira Kurosawa's Rashmon (1950), Asian audiences love his style. Other memorable roles include his turn as a lovelorn student in Sam dung (1999), an angel in Fan yi cho (2000) and the leader of a trio of robbers in Supsutoraberzu (2000). Of course, there hasn't been an Asian actor quite as versatile as Kaneshiro, who is able to straddle the Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japanese film industries because of his proficiency in various languages. Still, one wonders if the reason why he's so sought after is because he is so elusive. No one really knows what he does outside of film commitments, and his reluctance towards being in the spotlight is legendary.

You're DA MAN, daigong!

I love Takeshi Kaneshiro, even if it wasn't instant love >_> I saw him in Chungking Express and Confession of Pain before, but only Red Cliff made me really go hubbahubba. I liked that his eyes were ~sparkling warmly~. He's both beautiful and talented :3

Takeshi Kaneshiro is awesome! I love him! >O<
I saw many of his movies and doramas but Space Traveler, Returner, Confession of Pain and the dorama GOlden Bowl are my favorites! This three are the only ones of his Filmography, that I liked so far. Space Traveler was a funny movie! I laughed without an end! XDDD Returner was awesome! *_* I love the OST of this movie! <3 Confession of Pain was a great movie and I liked it. All his movies are great! XD But this three and the Dorama are my favorites!

I like to watch Accuracy of Death! The trailer is just awesome and I must see the full movie! >O<

DEEP!! now what is he up to? lol

[2013.01.01] THREE GREAT DIRECTORS IN THE EYES OF TAKESHI KANESHIRO

Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing Mo) has been in the entertainment circle for almost 20 years. In his film development, Wong Kar Wai, John Woo (Ng Yu Sum) and Peter Chan Ho Sun have been quite influential to him. Gum Sing Mo said that when he worked on Wong Kar Wai's CHUNG KING EXPRESS (CHUNG HING SUM LUM), he learned what visual creativity was because the lack of a script gave infinite freedom and space; this film provided him with even more opportunities to work in Japan. As he started as a singer to an actor, his identity was recognized and his career drastically changed. He worked with Ng Yu Sum on RED CLIFF (CHET BIK), Gum Sing Mo admired Ng Yu Sum's passion for film and his gentle and humble attitude after rising to fame. He said that Chan Ho Sun was the director who was able to provide actors with a sense of security. They had many opportunities to work together, he had a lot of patience in discussions and communications with actors.
