Least Favourite : Tidus, he was too damned emo sometimes
Emerald Weapon was definitely cool when it fought against the Mako Cannon on Midgar.
(I can't remember the name of the item)
But Ruby and Emerald, to this day I still haven't defeated. I kept pummelling on them as I would normally do with other, lesser bosses, but when I read online that the best strategy was all of these different combinations, to which I said, ah screw that!
Hum... I've 2 FF...
FFIX, and FF Crystal Chronicles on Game Cube... I loved FFIX but the Crystal Chronicles, ew... I found it very disappointing and tiresome... :(
QuoteEmerald Weapon was definitely cool when it fought against the Mako Cannon on Midgar.
Diamond. Emerald's the one in the ocean. :P
But Omega, yeah. He's kind of overboard. I've tried many times, and to no avail (without resorting to cheap tactics like 100 heroes)
......was kidding about that last part. Razz o_o
Does anybody else play other Square Enix games, like Kingdom Hearts and Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2), etc?
Oh, and the 2-disc DVD will feature some trailers, bonus features, and behind-the-scenes stuff, but not that cool 'Last Order' anime short that's included in the ridiculously
Even Europe doesn't have a planned release date..
Square Enix and Sony Pictures have delayed the US launch of its CG film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It's no longer coming out at the same time as it does in Japan.
If the US thinks they've got it bad, they shouldn’t complain too much – when we spoke to Square Enix UK, a representative admitted they have still not confirmed a release date for Europe.
Originally lined up for a September 13th roll-out with its Japanese counterpart, the US version of Advent Children now has a vague "holiday season" launch, with mid-to-late November expected, according to 1UP.
With no theatrical launch planned in the West, UMD and DVD versions will be the main formats, the latter coming in a 2-disc special edition form that includes trailers, bonus features and behind-the-scenes-footage.

OMFG!!! I just finished watching Advent Children!!!!
GREATEST ANYTHING EVER!!!!!
Zero_, I've heard that comment before, and honestly, I don't know what to say.... People like you either
A) Can't find it in themselves to say that they like something that everyone else likes, probably because they need to feel somehow "better" than everyone else, even if they don't realise that is the reason. or
B) Have such insane expectations, that they could never be satisfied with anything.
I don't know what you were expecting out of the movie, but if you were expecting something like 50hrs worth of plot squeezed into a 100min movie, which was originally intended to be a 25min short film.......then I don't know what to tell you. This movie is a gift to all FF7 fans, like myself, who adored and held this game to such a high esteem. So you could go ahead and be disappointed, cause it's really a shame that you couldn't enjoy this movie for all that it is, and appreciate it for what it's suppose to be.
Me, on the other hand, would just like to say...
Thank you, Square-Enix. THANK YOU.
Job well done. We appreciate it. <3
Bringing the laws of physics into a discussion about a CG MOVIE is like cumming on an underage girl's ass. It may sound like a good idea. But no. Just..no. It's a very bad idea.
Yeah sure, it should of been just like the game. Cloud and co. should of just stood in a line, ran up to Kadaj, hit him, and then run back to the same spot. And what was the deal with the HP damage not being displayed? Sheesh!
Just chill and think of Tifa's bouncing boobs.
Quote from: shirenuJust chill and think of Tifa's bouncing boobs.
... But they never actually bounced. Not even once. :(
......yeeeah, uum, hmm. I could get anal and point out that they're not actually "flying", but it really doesn't matter at ALL. Your complaint is probably the most nitpick comment I've ever heard. I mean, even if they WERE flying, why couldn't they be able to? Spoiler: ------------- If this is one of your complaints, then I don't think there can be any reasoning with you. Maybe you should just stop and, I don't know........ only read books, or something. I hear collecting stamps is nice.....
Woooah. Slow down. What is wrong with me not liking the movie? I've got my tastes, and if their not the same as yours, there's no need to start a fight.
if you're gonna quote me, at least cover up the spoilers like I did, before you ruin it for someone. -_-
It's because the reasons you give for not liking it don't exist, dear Zero_.
Okay, so I'm making one final attempt to play through Final Fantasy VII.
Can someone please explain to me what's supposed to be so great about this game?
FFVIII was pretty much just a upgraded VII, with a few twists on the plot. I think one of the reasons people didn't like VIII was that it concentrated a lot between the romance of the two main characters. In VII the relationships never really got that far. It also didn't have a sephiroth character.
That, and I think the materia system worked a lot better than the junction system.
To be fair, FFIX is probably my least favourite too. The game itself was solid, but I think the story and characters didn't interest me as much as other FF's .The only FF game that I've played which is worse in this aspect of the game is FF Tactics AdvanceWell..I didn't like Steiner and I didn't like Zidane much either. But the characters in Final Fantasy IX were much cooler than the ones in XII. :k-mad:
Least favourite character : erm.... Barrett (Friggin Annoying)
but...is it just me or a LOT of the tracks in FFVI similiar to FFVII? I realize it should be the other way around, but having beaten FFVII and not FFVI that's the way it feels to me. Are some of the tracks remixes? Am I going insane? What's the deal here? It's probably just you.
^ Is there not meant to be 4 discs? :s It certainly seems the most popular. It's special to me because it was not only the first RPG I ever played, but also the very first one :)
I may just get a Wii after all... (http://www.ffccnews.jp/2007/05/85.html)
yeah VII only had 3. The reason for the 4th disc in the PC version was for the installation disc.I think I had a 4th disc for the PS2 version that came with Advent Pieces, haven't looked in the box for a while, so, it might be just a different game.
VIII and IX had 4

Okay, if u beat the PSP FF7 Crisis Core twice...there's a new ff7 trailer...but some say its just the ps3 tech demo from 2 years ago...but then some disagree and say its a remake of the ps3 tech demo from 2 years ago, wtf? lol
and at the end:
WTF?! RINOA!?
i guess this might clear up the doubters of Ultimecia = Rinoa..
I felt it should have been Payne to save Rikku and Yuna's asses. But still a great vid. Fanservice is correct!
Don't know if this is the right place to ask, but since all the FF specialists are here maybe someone can help ^^
I downloaded a song that was wrongly labeled as a FF7 song and now I'm trying to find out where it's from.
The thing is it does sound familiar, stylewise it could be from one of the Crystal Chronicle games maybe.
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=F623CDF06D6555CC
I've listened to all the FF soundtracks and played Crystal Chronicles, and that song does not sound familiar to me at all.
Sorry just a quick question.. I have a chance to get FFIX for pretty cheap.. is it anything like VII? Because I really hated VII
I've listened to all the FF soundtracks and played Crystal Chronicles, and that song does not sound familiar to me at all.
Someone from another board said it's the main theme from FFIV, the song plays apperently the first time you enter the worldmap.
I haven't been able to confirm that yet since I don't have the OST.

Final Fantasy Retrospective XIII (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/27455.html) - The final part of the series which covers a review of the common themes that you'd expect in FF games and looks to the future
New trailers for FFXIII and FF Versus XIII :w00t:
Final Fantasy XIII (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/146558.html?playlist=featured)
Final Fantasy Versus XIII (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/146554.html)
And how awesome do they look? Still no gameplay footage as of yet (except perhaps the hint in the FFXIII trailer), but what a way for the trailer with FFXIII to close off! Could it really be who I (and any other FF fan) think it is? What does that say about the setting then? Oh so many questions!!
Guess I'll like XIII more than vs, cos interviews with the makers described XIII will be more traditional (FFXII), while vs goes action (a la Kingdom Hearts) style.
But can't actually guess anything from some CGs, right? :D
btw, does anyone know the actual date of release, I checked most game sites. Some don't have it, other just have various dates.
Just to make sure everybody watches it. Here's a link to Monty Oum's 'Dead Fantasy I' at Gametrailers:

Just got FF1 a few days ago for my PSP...tbh its a bit shit, nowt to it really, lvl 45 in 4 days XD lol thats pretty awful! oh and I only have the last main dungeon and 2 crappy sidedungeons to go before I finish then start on FF2
hope its a bit harder XD

Immediately go download an NES emulator and the orignal FF1. That one makes the new release look like a pre-school game, I swear. They made all of them SUPER easy when the original was really pretty difficult... so if you're looking for a challenge...

@ Tuffty: You NEED to play Crisis Core!! I absolutely love it! Not sure if it has over 300 missions, but it ranges from easy to hard. Plus, the fight with Sephiroth(one FMV where is fighting Genesis is awesome!) later in the game is so cool!
YES! IV is the best Final Fantasy
And can i ask what the big deal is wiht FFVII? I mean as far as I know they were lil peopl with huge heads, not so diferent from Bratz dollz, and the story was interesting but it was really hard to play because the baddies were too good. But how come there's all this huge buzz and stuff about it, when from what I gather, having nnever played it myself, the cut scenes were not nearly as good as some of the subsequent games, such as 8. But that's just me, I don't know why people like it so much. I like the characters from what I saw in the movie, but I think cloud is a bit of a whimp, cause he skipped out on all those battles and stuff and almost went crying to his mummy..... except I don't think he has one.....
BTW, played the new FFVII game on psp at this comic convention and it was awesome! But it sucks how you can't skip the vids, cause I saw oone like 5 times over and over again..... because I was watching other people play too.. and although I didn't die once, I had to start over again because I had the blasted PSP attached to the big tv and I kept getting disconnected XD
Anyone else playing FF Tactics A2?I've played the Japanese one (cleared the main storyline and most of the quests) and clocked more than 99:99:99 on it ^.^;; I somehow bashed my way through it..
Just really getting started but I've already clocked in a good 15 hours in to it. It's a great game. It's actually my first Strategy RPG, and don't know why I haven't tried the genre sooner. Good way to spend all your time. XD
Anybody play that FF online game? And if so, how do you like it?I played FF XII on-line when it first came out. I didn't like it much.
this is another one of those mmo's I didn't want to play cause you had to pay
As with the other one, I'll try it out this weekend XD
@orac.Yeah, I posted pics from a while back in there, a while back, lol, but, I think I have over 1GB of screenshots, can't post them all obviously.
yup. there's a screenshot thread for that:

No FFXIII in US/Europe until 2010
Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has told Reuters that Final Fantasy XIII will not be released outside Japan until April 2010 or later.
However, the PlayStation 3 version of FFXIII is still set for release this year in Japan.
The Reuters wire copy, which showed up on The Guardian's site yesterday, doesn't quote Wada on FFXIII's release date but does attribute the guidance directly to him.
Square Enix has previously said that development of the Xbox 360 version of FFXIII - announced at E3 2008 - will not begin until the PS3 version is completed.
Given Wada's comments, there will doubtless be renewed speculation as to whether Square Enix has committed to launching the two versions side by side in Europe rather than giving the completed Sony SKU a headstart on its rival.
Well, I don't mind waiting 1/2 a year after the jap launch.
English translations/voice for RPGs normally took that long before anyways, some even longer.
More time for me to finish off FF6.
YES! I finally made some progress in FFXII. I defeated some boss, got out the Feywood and I entered the ancient city of Giruvegan! I wonder how far I am in the main story line..
I hope, that Final Fantasy VII: ACC is not only for Japan and North America...New scenes !!! I gotta say, I wasn't even going to watch the trailer untill I saw you mentioning new scenes! And I gotta say it looks great. I'm so glad I'll be going to Japan this April, because I was already planning on buying this version of the PS3, I have to admit, more for the FFXIII demo than for AC (which I also love, but as I already had it in DVD it wasn't such a hype for me) but with this much extras it is much more interesting!
'Cause I want this movie so badly ;_; It looks sooo great... all the new scenes...
^ Congratulations!! :w00t:Congratulations on my part too!
See I had a different experience, and the final boss was perhaps the hardest end boss in a FF game for me, more so than one-winged Sephiroth in VII. I had quite high-level characters though, perhaps the game adjusts the difficulty as such for the end boss?

Vayne's tough, but there's marks out there to find that are much tougher. I'll give you one name: Pylraster. And be afraid.
my FFXIII demo arrived this morning, and I'm loving it, though, it is only about an hour long.
Of course the9 card game was freaking addicting! as well the story in it.
I know a lot of people that enjoyed 8, despite it being the apparent "black sheep."
Square Enix has finally clarified that Final Fantasy XIII will launch simultaneously on PS3 and 360 in the West.
"We don't have the actual month down yet, but in Japan it's scheduled for a winter release, and in Europe and North American territories it's spring 2010," producer Yoshinori Kitase told VG247 at gamescom.
"For Europe and North American, the PS3 and 360 versions are going to be released simultaneously."
Kitase added that European localisation used to take a year, but should now be "considerably shorter". The European launch of FFXIII, therefore, will be "as close to the North American release as possible".
Square Enix began development on the Western, Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII in April. However, the PS3 code is complete, and - as Kitase mentioned - goes on sale in Japan this winter.
This aroused suspicion that Western PS3 fans are being made to wait for FFXIII simply because of a simultaneous multi-platform-release deal.

FF8 is the shizz
At the Tokyo Game Show 2006, Square Enix showed a trailer of a director's cut of the film, titled Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete for release on the Blu-ray Disc format. New scenes will be added to the film. The film also benefits from high-definition video and audio that the Blu-ray format offers. In Japan, it came with a playable demo of Final Fantasy XIII. The cut had formerly been expected to be released in mid 2007, but Square Enix announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2007 that they would postpone the product until 2008.[12]
At the 2008 Square Enix DKΣ3713 Party, it was announced that Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete would be released in March 2009 in Japan,[13] but it was delayed soon after and was released on April 16, 2009. A separate bundle was sold that included a demo of Final Fantasy XIII. Both editions included the first HD trailers of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII. The film features a 20-minute long extra movie on the disc, which is an anime version of the "Case of Denzel" chapter featured in the On the Way to a Smile short story.[13] Advent Children Complete was released in North America on June 2, 2009[14] and on July 27, 2009 in Europe. However, both the North American and the European versions do not come with the playable demo of Final Fantasy XIII. Instead, it comes with a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII.
It contains a considerable amount of new footage that the original version lacks, as well as roughly a thousand revised scenes. This adds a total of 26 minutes to the film, some of the new scenes inlcude a more in depth look at the Geostigma, Denzel and Kadaj's origins, as well as an extended fight between Cloud and Sephiroth.
The Japanese release of this edition features a new ending track from Kyosuke Himuro called "Safe and Sound," with additional lyrics from My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way. The track replaces Himuro's previous track "Calling" from the original cut of the film. However, in the North American release, the song "Calling" remains, and "Safe and Sound" is absent.
The film was released in Japanese in three bundles. One included a limited edition 160GB "Cloud Black" PS3 bundle with the Final Fantasy XIII demo, another was the film with the demo, and the last was be the stand-alone film. The film also includes an OVA based on On the Way to a Smile: Case of Denzel, along with never-before-seen trailers for Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII. Nomura also said that Complete may be the last installment of the Compilation for some time, but he and Nozue have other ideas and are contemplating another film project.
Currently, gamers who purchase a PlayStation 3 80GB system through Gamestop.com or in store, will also receive a Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete Blu-ray movie bonus.

^ I've seen a lot of comments like that but I don't understand the reasoning. I don't really know what Versus is about other than it's a seperate story and a little more action orientated. Why is it so hyped?
i just hope FFXIII main character is not like Vahn fromm FFXII, well Vahn is useful in battle but in story he's not very useful :P2
I'll import it and play it how it is etc. (first japanese FF game, yaaay!!!)

My Dissida disc has broke somewhat :( When I try to play as Cloud it freezes and shuts down. Yet I can play against him ok. And he was one of my favourite characters to play as too :( :(
Reviewer 1 - 10/10Not done by me
Beautiful graphics and superb story. These aspects can be enjoyed without feeling as though they're being forced upon you. Combined with this, the extreme sense of satisfaction from the gameplay, is a direct result of a system that's evolved and reached perfection.
With no vice to really speak of, at this time, this game stands at the RPG forefront of a superb combination of story and gameplay who's value can undoubtedly be experienced by all.
Reviewer 2 - 9/10
There's a few niggling issues like battle damage being difficult to see, and the screen being cluttered, but the amount of enjoyment this game offers more than makes up for it. You'll be drawn into the world with visual, aural, and story aspects. I have a bit of resistance calling this an "RPG-like RPG" however.
Reviewer 3 - 10/10
Extravagant and dense (referring to the amount of content?). A lot of points to keep your eyes open for and is very movie-like. Very beautiful movies are included in a story full of events, to the point where it's difficult to determine where to put the controller down at the beginning. With the amount of character growth, gathering and crafting available in the game, there's enough enjoyable content for you to last for a while with just this one game.
Reviewer 4 - 10/10
Including the beauty of the visual side of things, the total quality is very high. The script is strictly dandy and irritating (whatever the hell that means). Character typecasting is unavoidable and while there should be "your own (character's own?) story", this does not exist. However, the sense of satisfaction gained from playing the game is extremely good, and is something I've never experienced before. __________________.
One guy only thought it was 90% good and people are pissed?
Do they ground their kids when they get 39/40 on a test?
The game looks great... I want it so badly! T_T
But I want to wait and see, if the language of the vestern versions can be changed to japanese...
I hate english voices, doesn't matter if it is good or not... :smhid
Wow. The bottom guy actually looks like a male. I think that's a first for Final Fantasy games in last decade. :P
And the amount of comments I've read of, "Oh I'm not getting this anymore cause there's too many effeminate looking guys in the game" is seriously pathetic. FF's guys have always looked like that, and it's not even a FF thing, it's a Japan thing. So either put up with it or just don't play.

It's been stripped out of the game sadly. Originally it was considered as an option, but they wanted the PS3 and 360 versions to be identical and the 360 didn't have space for two language tracks.
Very annoying.
It may be available later as downloadable content though.

FF XIV beta sign-ups (for the PC). :)
I can understand if you want to import Birth by Sleep instead (which I personally don't like, but I know a lot of people do) but Yu-Gi-Oh ???
Don't get me wrong, I like the show, I even went as far as to download and watch the whole thing back in the days when I didn't speak a word of japanese, but between FFXIII, Birth By Sleep and Yu-Gi-Oh dvds ? I'd go with the first two any day.
I like the whole Kingdom Hearts game series, so it is a MUST have for me, to get this game :D And I'm really hyped now for that!
Well... I know, I wouldn't understand any of the japanese dialoges in FF XIII but the game didn't get my interests so far. I think, I'll wait and test the game out before I decide to buy it!
I'm wondering about the FFXIV beta, well, I signed up for it 2 days ago, though, my system may not be as good as most. Guess what I do have is that I have been playing FFXI for over 5 years, lol.
Thanks for the info. I am willing to give FFXIV a chance, so if you don't mind a newb on your back, we could play it together when it's released, because I'm horrible to meet people playing MMOs. Probably because I play it a lot less than most people.I don't mind, and I have heard alot of people I know in FFXI are going to play too. When I started FFXI, well, me and my brother played on same account, but, he soon quit, but, meh, account is still in his name, and I don't know anyone IRL who play.
The most people I knew were because I got together with my cousins or a friend, and they made friendship with other people.

btw, I did own the PS, but not currently, only PS2, PSP and PS3...
Wait, woah, woah. Reading back Asmo's post, FFVIII is on the US PSN store? Any word of a Euro release then? I mean, I tried to get FFVII on the PSP but couldn't get it downloaded as my wireless tends to reset itself at random occassions. But with FFVIII on the PSN store, I'm more tempted to play it again XD Hearing FFVIII's world map music on Dissidia makes me very nostalgic.
As I know, FF VIII should be out in January 2010 on the Euro PSN...
I can't wait for it anymore!

For those lucky lucky people who have a copy, would it be possible to post their (spoiler free) impressions of the game as they go through? I haven't read comments on other sites for fear of being told spoilers, but I know I can trust you guys! :)
The whole game is completely linear until halfway through [approximately 20 hours].
There are hardly any towns.
The party is always fixed. The whole game just repeats the movie-battle sequence over and over [In fact the progression is closer to movie-run-battle-run-movie-boss-movie-run-battle…].
There are rather a lot of movies.
Moving around is like a long marathon.
The whole game system is just a clone of FF10.
You can’t flee battles [You can’t avoid most battles either as there is no sneaking past enemies, including weak ones].
Your party is completely healed after each battle.
If the main character in your party dies it is game over [There are only ever 3 characters in battle, often less, and often fixed].
The best tactic is almost always endlessly attacking. There is next to no strategy or skill involved.
The summons’ transformation scenes are a joke [i.e. Odin turning into a horse
The story is rubbish…
Shopping is only done at “online” shops on save points, with no proper shops to be found.
However, this doesn’t matter as you hardly ever get any money [and you can never buy anything more powerful than what you already looted].
There have been next to no changes from the demo.
The status screen displays no real information.
There are only 8 items usable in combat [For that matter, there are hardly any weapons or accessories, and the “crafting” system mostly consists of spending drops to upgrade their 2 stats].
There are no levels.
Here's a (spoiler free) look at FFXIII which lists criticisms mentioned earlier and addresses them to let you know it's not as bad as you fear (http://gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2009/12/29/feature-things-you-should-know-about-final-fantasy-xiii.aspx)
It's a positive article, and I'm intrigued to learn that setting the AI for your characters plays a huge part in battles, perhaps more so than ever as it's game over when your main character dies and that impressions are that this could be the hardest FF game yet. So the party healing after each battle is not as bad as anticipated. It even says the summon monsters transforming into vehicles has it's benefits, something which I was pretty dubious about.
I caved and listened to the Chocobo theme tune for FFXIII and it sounds like one of the best:
Chocobo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDwAN90MKTo#ws)
Sounds like something from Cowboy Bebop. And it's awesome.
I think RPGs like FF need to be linear to a certain degree to be successful in its storytelling. For pacing those special moments.
But what the hell do I know. hahaha~
Do the enemies scale based on your level?
(e.g. like in Oblivion where getting more powerful just means the enemies get more powerful too)
For those who've played this far ahead in Dissidia, does anyone know what the 2 new play plans (grind lover and treasure hunter) provide? I put grind lover in and it gives me a black chocobo, but it doesn't appear that there is a reward after so many battles like you got with the 3 play plans you start off with. Is there any benefit in having them (which I assume there has to be)
A HK reviewer gave FFXIII a 4/10 (http://www.destructoid.com/final-fantasy-xiii-the-biggest-swindle-in-history--160046.phtml)
How you give the story, described in his own words as 'an epic tear jerker', a 2/10 I dunno. And laughed at the graphics too, 9/10 'full marks here' o_0
And even the magazine issued a disclaimer saying the reviewer was a non-gamer. So why publish it?!
The black chocobo supposedly gives extra exp per battle. I haven't actually paid attention so I don't know for sure. Most of my characters are max level by now so I can't tell you for sure either. ^^; But if I'm not wrong it does give you triple exp on some battles sometimes. I never actually took note though...
director Motomu Toriyama declared that the "Final Fantasy XIII overseas version is finally completed. I am sorry for the long wait. At present members of the development team in Japan are on a New Year holiday while waiting an approval of the master disc." He offered no updates on the game's two spin-offs, Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PlayStation 3) and Final Fantasy Agito XIII (PSP).
With the English-language version nearly gold, it appears that Final Fantasy XIII will indeed hit its March 9 launch date in Europe and North America. Though it was only released for the PS3 in Japan, the role-playing game will be available simultaneously on Sony's console and the Xbox 360 in the West. In the US and Canada, it has been rated T for Teen by the ESRB for a variety of reasons, including the inclusion of "holographic dancers clad in bikini tops, skimpy leotards, and backless chaps."
Available now for pre-order at the price of € 80 ($110), the retailer says the pack includes a soundtrack, art book, prequel story, comic book and collection of art cards.
While the game is advertised on a European retail site, you'd expect the US edition to be similar, if not identical. If you're looking for pictures, sorry, there are no pics available.
how many hours did it take you to play through?
(sorry, I haven't looked at your review, in case you mention it there)
No sexy pink Lightning design printed on the faceplate like the PS3 Special Edition has though.
Damn.. the game is nearly out in every store....
This is such a weird experience for me, because even though I like rpgs, I've never really been into FF before. I've played a lot of them, but only really enjoyed 9 and X-2 (of the ones I've tried). X-2 is the only FF game I've been able to complete 8D Haha.
My favourite characters are Vanille, Fang, and Lightning (in that order). Yeah, I guess I'm all about the girls.
The idea is not bad.. to make a game with Yuffie as the main character! =D
But what kind of story would fit to Yuffie?
Also I tried using Libra but nothing seems to happen? I see a visual effect over an enemy but does it happen without me knowing or am I meant to expect the game pausing and giving me a list of information on a certain enemy like in past FF games?
Considering how much I disliked XI I doubt it will disappoint. I played XI but more than the excessive grinding, and lack of tutorials, the menus were the real gamebreaker for me.Agree but by that time FFXIV would already rule XI fan.
If SE addresses it, it should be a much improved game!
Awesome! But rather than having Yaguchi doing voice overs, I'd rather have Ai-chan singing the main theme for a Final Fantasy game, maybe the sequel to FFXIII Toriyama is already talking about (only interested at the moment), or VersusXIII.
I got killed by Odin in less than 10 seconds. By the 10 time it seems, I was able to beat him.
Remake FF7 plz
I'd like a nice remake of FF6 for DS. It's my favourite Final Fantasy and DS version would give a possibility to update the graphics but keep the free world map and all of the story. Whereas on a fancier console they'd get so into updating graphics that they'd have to let go of the vast story and world, and that would suck major balls...
Quick question, should I bother upgrading weapons at this stage? I'd personally want to max the hell out of each and every weapon/accessory I get but the components I have are pretty low and I'm not really sure which ones I'd want to upgrade.
Ok so, ones with a screw icon are used for upgrading, others are used to sell and rake in the gil. Gotcha. Thanks winner!! :D
FFIX seems likely to head to the PSN (http://kotaku.com/5503940/final-fantasy-ix-looking-likely-for-psn). I think I'll pass. Or will I? XD
FFIX seems likely to head to the PSN (http://kotaku.com/5503940/final-fantasy-ix-looking-likely-for-psn). I think I'll pass. Or will I? XD
For me FFIX is the worst of them and by far. Unlikeable characters, crappy story and motivations, fighting and upgrade system aren't all bad but far from the best in the series, nothing in the world really draws you in. Don't get me wrong, it is not a BAD game, but I'd say it's mediocre or at least passable.
I've tried to replay it numerous times to see if maybe I went in with too much expectation since I previously had only played FFVIII and FFVIII, but unfortunately no, the problem is the game. The CGs are great, even today, but still a lot of reasons to play another game.
I could tell you guys many PS1 or PSP RPGs to play instead of FFIX, and I consider myself a big fan of the series. It is with a pain in my heart that I tell somebody NOT to play a Final Fantasy game.
Think I'll stick with Commando/Ravager by default and then switch to Sentinel when things get hairy. Does that sound about right?
@Tuffty
I think the story will give you some good explanations on that before it ends. :twothumbs
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be launched on Windows PCs worldwide on September 30 -- well, provided you've obtained the game, installed it and then clicked on the launch shortcut. This step comes after you've made a choice between two different versions of the anticipated MMORPG: a standard edition, which will retail for $49.99, and a $74.99 Collector's Edition.
The latter edition will enable early access to the game on September 22nd ("subject to initial server capacity," Square Enix warns) and will include a making-of DVD, a Final Fantasy XIV-branded security token, an art book, special cover art by Yoshitaka Amano, a "fully-personalized Right of Passage Certificate" and a stat-boosting Onion Helm item for pre-orders (Standard Edition pre-orders get ze "Garlond Goggles," they do nothing in real life). Both versions offer 30 days of gameplay upon purchase, with one playable character and one non-playable character playing the undignified role of item retainer. Should you choose to continue exploring the world of Eorzea, Eorfee will be $12.99 per month.
Oh, and just a reminder that PS3 is one of several consoles that won't be able to play Final Fantasy XIV in 2010 -- since Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV will only arrive on Sony's system in "early" March 2011. Pricing for that version will be announced at a later time.

In the past, the city-states battled tirelessly, vying for domination and hegemony. Death-mongering beast tribes pillaged the land unchecked, leaving only destruction in their wake. Unseen enemies lurked beyond the borders, striking at the slightest provocation or show of weakness. The history of Eorzea is a tapestry woven of war and strife, stained with the blood of those gone before, and the tears and ash of fallen endeavor.Features
And yet the love the gods bear this unforgiving land endures, now as always. What is the allure of this seemingly forsaken place? With what hope and to what end do would-be inhabitants journey here to live out their days?
The answer lies with that which gives form to Hydaelyn and all myriad creation in it — crystals. The cornerstone of all things, it is these crystallized manifestations of the aether that beckon the people to come, risking all in the undertaking.
And so it is that adventures too have harkened the call — to bear witness to the epic set to unfold in this land. This Eorzea.
Conceived and produced by notable FINAL FANTASY developers — Produced by Hiromichi Tanaka (FINAL FANTASY I, II, III, XI) and directed by Nobuaki Komoto (FINAL FANTASY IX, XI), with art direction by Akihiko Yoshida (Vagrant Story®, FINAL FANTASY XII) and musical score by Nobuo Uematsu (FINAL FANTASY series)
In-depth character creation — Choose a race and clan before going on to customize your avatar's face, hairstyle, skin color and more, with subtle adjustments allowing for limitless possibilities
The Armoury System — With defining emphasis on the game's weapons and tools, the Armoury System is a unique class system that influences both character development and an individual's style of play. With it, players have the flexibility and freedom to fight, craft and gather whenever and however they so choose. Simply equipping an item will automatically cause the character to take on the class associated with it
Aetheryte transportation — Traverse the realm of Eorzea instantly using this seemingly supernatural teleportation system
Solo or party play — Adventure alone or in the company of others as you undertake quests and engage in battles on your travels through Eorzea

Final Fantasy XIII was hardly a failure, selling a whopping 5 million copies plus. "But when it comes to the customers' reaction to the quality of the game, some value it highly and some are not very happy with it," Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada told website Gamasutra.
"I think this is a product that was able to meet the expectations for those who know Final Fantasy," Wada added. "There are all kinds of games around in the market today. Should Final Fantasy become a new type of the game or should Final Fantasy not become a new type of game? The customers have different opinions. It's very difficult to determine which way it should go."
WOW that's really a great answer to my question!! Well I don't have a PSP so I guess I'd have to go for the PS1 version if I want to play it. :D Not that I know where to find it LOLAwww, FFT...
I'm very intrigued by what was described as a dark story in this game :D
EDIT: Wow it's kinda expensive on ebay incl. shipping. I'll put it on my list of games to buy when I'm rich (...have a job)
Word leaked out earlier in the week from V Jump about a new mobile Final Fantasy game. Square Enix followed up today with official announcement.
Fully titled Final Fantasy Legends: Hikari to Yami no Senshi ("Warriors of Light and Darkness"), the all original title is being developed by the staff that brought us 2008's Final Fantasy IX The After.
Like The After, Legends features 2D sprite visuals. The game will also feature many of the other elements one would expect of a classic FF game, including a traditional story surrounding crystals, light and darkness, and character growth via a job change system.
Regarding the job system in particular, Square Enix says the distribution model of the game's scenarios will shine a spotlight on the jobs. It did not provide further details.
Final Fantasy Legends will be available on mobile portal Final Fantasy Mobile starting in September for iMode users and later this Winter for EZweb users. The game's prologue will be free. Subsequent chapters will run 300 to 500 points (about ¥315 to ¥525).
"FINAL FANTASY XIV", the new MMORPG from Square Enix (Windows, Playstation3) will start it's BETA testing on July 10. The Windows version is set to be released on September 30 (PS3 version is slated for release in March 2011). Specifications required for play will be announced. We won't talk much about FFXIV until those PC requirements are published, but the news this time is a presentation of information on the 18 classes that are planned for the official time of release. This article presents these classes separately with both pictures and descriptions.
According to Square Enix, you won't be able to play all of these 18 classes in the BETA test, though they'll all be available at the official release. That is to say that in the beta test, the current playable classes are said to be Harvester of the Gatherers group of classes, and the Woodworker, Weaver, and Tanner of the Crafters group of classes. The remaining classes being Fisherman of the Gatherers group, and Goldsmith, Armourer, Culinarian, and Alchemist of the Crafters group.
What's more, additional classes are set to be added in on and after the official release. Check out the presentations of the 18 classes here to get an idea of what kind of classes you can expect.
A review of FFXIV's class system
FFXIV has a class system called Armoury system. You can easily change classes depending on the player character's alteration of weapons and tools. The weapons and tools can be divided into four general groups; weapons, magical items, gathering tools, and manufacturing tools. These tools function with the different fighter, sorcerer, gatherer, and crafter groups. Please look at the following text or 4Gamer's articles here (http://www.4gamer.net/games/092/G009287/20100409014/) and here (http://www.4gamer.net/games/092/G009287/20100310072/) for a summary of these groups.
Fighter Group Classes
格闘士[Pugilist]
"The punisher with no hands"
A fighter who's followed the traditional art of self defence.
The trained fists are already lethal weapons, but by equipping weapons known as "touki" the destructive power of those fists can be more than doubled.
In order to honour the Pugilist's feelings as a proud close combat fighter, how you approach your enemy in order to get close is essential. There are also Pugilists who carry chakram for the purpose of using them to divert the opponents attention before attacking.
剣術士[Gladiator]
"The defender skilful in both offense and defense"
From daggers to long sabres, from double edged blades to curved single edged blades, the Gladiator is a fighter who use a wide selection of one-handed blades as his main weapon.
The gladiator uses his skills to adapt to various situations. If he's carrying a shield he'll change into a heavy soldier protecting his friends. If he's got one hand free, he'll focus on offense and be a regular warrior. He is flexible and can change his role on the battleground. His wide killing, striking, and throwing tactics is characteristic to the Gladiator.
斧術士[Marauder]
"The terrifying destroyer"
The Marauder is a fighter whose main weapon is the "battle axe" which he uses to destroy enemy pirate ships or for heavy attacks on its landing party.
You get a strong impression that it's a traditional pirate weapon, but there are still many Marauders who are famous for violently fighting their way through city wars, or from the grasp of powerful goblins.
The gladiator takes pride in his huge axe capable of destroying enemy shields, and make enemies faint from the impact, but the throwing axe Fransisca is also an important weapon for dealing with tough pirates aboard ships.
弓術士[Archer]
"The hurricane attacker"
The Archer is a fighter whose main weapon is the bow and arrow, which is excellent for sniping from long distances or from high angles.
Being able to pick the right spot to shoot from, and the right kind of arrow for the right kind of enemy are important tactical decisions.
In Eoruzea, hearsay is spread about the superior Elzen archers, and the weakpoints of the Miqo'te archers. There are also Archers who, helped by their excellent eyesight, makes stone throwing their strong point.
槍術士[Lancer]
"The transformation striker"
The Lancer is a fighter who has made the long spear his main weapon. The long spear has a long reach, and skilfully stabs the enemy.
In addition to stabbing, the Lancer can choose between a variety of offences depending on the kind of spear used.
Influenced by the Ala Mhigo, proud of their strong prospering, there is a tendency to compete to have the longest spear handle. Nowadays the various spear shapes are mixed together.
Usually the Lancer also carry throwing javelins for long distance battles.
Sorcerer Group Classes
幻術士[Conjurer]
"The magnificent spiritualist"
Called "illusion technique", the Conjurer is a sorcerer who can use strong magic to effect attributes. He can think up creations that are full of overwhelming environs, and he can figure out various elements of attributes.
He carries a magical staff made from wood, relaying on that he can change elements by magic.
Their temple is in Gridania's eminent old cavern, said to be where the whispers of the forest's trees gather.
呪術士[Thaumaturge]
"The stern fantasist"
Called "incantation", the Thaumaturge is a sorcerer who manipulates strong magic of a destructive nature. He goes into the true nature of overwhelming things and can manipulate a persons inner hidden power.
The Thaumaturge carries a magical sceptre with a rosary attached. Using that he can change the spirit by magic.
Urdaha's two large worshipping chambers are incantation temples, the temples protect the countless priests who study their arts there.
Final Fantasy XIII spin-off games Versus and Agito won't be released for ages, Tetsuya Nomura has revealed.
The Japanese RPG legend has sprayed Twitter with an information explosion, and revealed that "there are a number of unannounced titles" to be revealed before the two games are released.
Unveiled in 2006, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is a PlayStation 3 exclusive action role-playing game that's part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII compilation.
Also unveiled in 2006, Final Fantasy Agito XIII is a PlayStation Portable exclusive that is without a confirmed Western release.
"Versus has had many difficulties," Nomura said on Twitter (translated by Andriasang)
"And past method of production have been completely inapplicable, but these are the difficulties of birth, so we are working hard. We have a lot to announce, but because we're going in order, I can't say too much yet."
By order, Nomura means promoting games in the order of their release.
Nomura said Square is casting voice actors for Versus and Agito as we speak. PSP Parasite Eve game The 3rd Birthday's recording "will end shortly". Then it's on to Agito.
Nomura confirmed Versus and Agito will skip the German show gamescom, due to run next week. "There are a number of unannounced titles. These will come before Agito and Versus. Some have finished voice recording. Announcements will take place in Japan."

"Anyone that thinks I wouldn't get my hair cut like Lightning from Final Fantasy xiii doesn't know me"
I got my chocobo! And finally starting to see how you get gil. Either dig up gold nuggets or fight Cactuar's from a Cactuar or Chocobo plush doll and sell them off right?
Square Enix has denied reports that the Ultimate Hits International edition of Final Fantasy XIII, which will bring the game to Japanese 360s for the first time, features new content.
"There is no new episode content," a Square Enix spokesperson told Eurogamer.
"Early reports may be confused by a pre-order item accompanying first editions of the release called Final Fantasy XIII: Corridor of Memory, a book of original stories set within Final Fantasy XIII."
Final Fantasy XIII has not gotten any downloadable content — to the chagrin of players. DLC gives a title a longer life and sometimes provides a more robust gaming experience. Downloadable content is something to look forward to.
On December 17, 2009, Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama wrote this on the game's official website: "The world of Final Fantasy XIII is starting from here on out." He then added if players held on to their copies of the game, "good things" were possibility on the horizon.
It seemed as though Toriyama was hinting at future downloadable content for the game.
In a recent interview with a Japanese game magazine, Toriyama apparently said, "We had plans for DLC, but those plans disappeared. Apologies!"
I'd like to see Rinoa in the next Dissidia. That'd be awesome!
Plus that stupid dog will come back too if she does :bleed eyes:
... they probably all hate us now Ayako D:
What's wrong with Angelo?! HE CAN MAKE YOU INVINCIBLE! I couldn't have beaten Omega Weapon without him!
I had such the hots for Rinoa back in the day. You can see her in the lineup in the sequel too, they could play off the brief Rinoa/Seifer romance in FFVIII as part of their rivalry in this game. And in her EX mode she could turn into a sorceress (lol spoilers). Her EX attack can involve Angelo or her Angel Wing which greatly increases her magic attack and has that multi hit meteor spell that looks perfectly suitable as a final flashy move.
I mean are they intentionally trying to be dicks to the fans? :panic:
Wonder if you're talking about the same cave I talked about. But that one was so tiny it was sad:

darn, I still haven't got back to playing Crisis Core. XD
It's not a bad thing either. I normally take a few months, sometimes lapsing years to actually finish one of 'em (coughFFVIIIcough). :nervous
Could you ever see Cloud partner up with Sephiroth? Or Terra with Kefka? :nervous
^ What about the Duel Colosseum? Could have got some sweet loot for it too!
More Final Fantasy XIII Direct Sequel Rumors (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103997-Final-Fantasy-XIII-Producer-Wants-a-Sequel)
As much as I like Lightning as a character, not sure if I want a sequel (have to finish FF13 first anyway XD)
Considering FF13's Paradigm Shift = X-2's dressspheres and Gestalt Mode = Floral Fallal/Machina Maw/Full Throttle, these 2 may actually be the closest relatives in the series.
I had no idea what to do with the grids and stuff, was there even a tutorial? Can't remember.
I like Chapter 9, it's a good place to grind for those chips that sell for a lot of money, meaning you get a nice stack of gil to purchase some more components that go towards levelling up your equipment. Though from experience, Chapter 11 is probably the best place if you want to stack up on that kind of stuff, so I think it's ok to just carry on as usual.
Yes you do change party members eventually XD I was surprised that even at that point, with Snow in the team, you still couldn't switch members. Like the developers just wants you to play as Lightning/Fang/Hope even though it bears no real consequence to the story. I think you can switch in the next chapter.
I'm actually looking forward to hear your thoughts on the next chapter Ayako. I'm not saying anything, but I wonder if you will encounter the same difficulty I had when I came upon it. All I'll say is this. Be prepared! XD
^Yeah. You're really close. :twothumbs
You also have something else to look forward to the same time its unlocked. It might widen your options with character choice. I'll let you find that out yourself.
At the 2008 gaming expo in Los Angeles, Square Enix dropped a bombshell: Final Fantasy XIII, previously believed to be a PS3 exclusive, was headed for the Xbox 360. Could the same be in store for Final Fantasy Versus XIII?
Final Fantasy Versus XIII designer Tetsuya Nomura has stated repeatedly that Versus XIII is a PS3 exclusive. Previously, it was revealed that Square Enix was "looking into" a multi-platform Final Fantasy Versus XIII release. Square Enix Yoichi Wada later tweeted, "What was said at the investors meeting was only that until the official announcement is made everything about all titles is pending."
Today, Square Enix posted a job listing for a Final Fantasy Versus XIII "Battle Planner". Listed in the job requirements are the following requirements: experience developing a 3D action game, knowledge and experience in both level and battle design and "development experience on a PS3, or Xbox 360 package title".
The inclusion of "or Xbox 360 package title" is leading to speculation online that Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be a multi-platform title just like Final Fantasy XIII.
When Square Enix revealed that FFXIII would be released on the Xbox 360, the company stated that it would be a PS3 exclusive in Japan. The game will finally be released on the Xbox 360 in Japan this December.
The inclusion of "or Xbox 360 package title" is leading to speculation online that Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be a multi-platform title just like Final Fantasy XIII.
I don't say anything about the english dub of FF XIII, no! I feel only awkward, when I'm listening and watching a dub, because I knew the japanese one! XD
It would be only better, if they would leave the in Versus the selectable of the JP language ;_;
Me as a JP Anime-Fan would very appreciate it...
Ultimately, the dream would be to have both, I absolutely agree. Like I said, we can live in hope right?! :prayers:
Also, more Tifa! :w00t:
(http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/6020/sspreview2115psev1102pf.jpg) (http://img524.imageshack.us/i/sspreview2115psev1102pf.jpg/) (http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/9697/sspreview2116tifafixjpg.jpg) (http://img178.imageshack.us/i/sspreview2116tifafixjpg.jpg/)
haha XD I know I felt exactly the same way as you did! My advice would be to stick with each character's main roles, like how Lightning always was a COM/RAV/MED beforehand and Snow was a COM/RAV/SEN. The benefits you get from advancing along these roles are way more beneficial to you than if you go along their newly opened up roles, and they cost a lot less CP too. The roles each character has opened up give you only a small increase to your stats and for crazy amounts of CP. Once you've maxed out each character's main role, then you can do the other ones. And keep getting stronger! Though I don't know why I would, cause I would never choose Vanille as a COM or Hope as a SEN XD
Like I said Ayako, keep your strength up cause you'll encounter something where you will absolutely need to have some strong characters. I'd like to hear how you do cause I personally think it's a great sequence.
Well I beat the fal'Cie in the tower, which wasn't too bad at all but then! Man. I took on the mission that opens up afterwards, which is the Undying Cie'th and he wiped out the whole party in two hits :o The hell? This will be fun. :nervous
Found and fought against the Giant Cactaur on FFXIII. I uh, think I'll have to give him a miss for now XD
I'M CAPTAIN BASCHE OF DALMASCA!
... I'M CAPTAIN BASCHE!
I picked up FF13 again today, I'm at the end(?) of Ch.11 (we're probably at the same spot Tuffty)
But I went back and did some leveling up instead of fighting a certain someone XD
^ Raines hard? I think I beat him on my second try (can't remember what party members I used though)
I didn't find Raines hard either. I did him first try.
Nobou Uematsu will always be rightfully regarded for making some of the best tracks for any FF game, but that's not to take away from Masashi Hamauzu's work on FFXIII, a soundtrack which I'm enjoying immensely as I play through the game:
Final Fantasy XIII Original Soundtrack - 1.02 - FINAL FANTASY XIII - The Promise (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axHX1lPtapU#)
Final Fantasy XIII Original Soundtrack - 2.01 - Blinded By Light (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLuXcTqntgQ#)

Also I think the impossible has happened, I read some FangXVanille ff's and now I'm developing a crush on Vanille, hell NOOO! XD
Vanille is ok, her character is a bit more complex than the happy go lucky childish girl anime stereotype that many other people label her as. As awkward and out of place the noises she makes are in any given scene, the Englisa VA only did what was asked of her. A friend of mine pointed out that Fang/Vanille is essentially Xena/Gabrielle and now I can't look at either Fang or Vanille without thinking that XD
WOWSER, the intro movie for Chapter 12, wish the game had a cinema feature like FFX.
Oh Gigantuar, how I despise you! :banghead:
awww... but using Death is comparable to cheating. ;) I'll be trying it on adamantoise.
Took down the 2nd Neochu (the mark one, not the 'titan trial' one) and got the egg.
Is he the absolutely enormous creature that you can see walking around from the central expanse? I'd say you have to fight it, you can't not just put him in there and tease us like that!
Turns out, my 4 year old nephew managed to unlock the Limit Break achivement before me :nervous I'm so proud
While I don't regret buying the Limited Edition of FFXIII at all, the packaging could be a lot better. It's practically fallen apart on me, and I have no bottom half to keep it all in, so I have to put everything in upside down, which doesn't help seeing as the top wants to open up anyway, it's not good at keeping things in.
Gigantuar is the big Cactuar you have to fight in one mission.
He is a level B monster, the only leve B monster I have left, but he is freaking hard, harder than any leve A monster I fought til now. I tried everything I could come up with, but the farthest I get with him is one tenth of his lifebar, can't even stagger him, I always die before, grrr.
Wow, wait! So you already have the Genji Glove? Because I heard that's the only way to get this achievement because it removes the 99999,9 damage limit.
Looks like the awesome gaming skillz are in your family genes! XD
What did you do to it? Mine is still as good as new!
But that's because I have it stored away in my game shelf and have the regular case out all the time.
Oh right. Yeh he's going to be an absolute pain for me, I can tell.
So, tell all the monsters, that are using death on you, they are cheaters, too? XDYup. those dirty cheating monsters. At least doom gives you a few seconds to pray. ;)
Maxed all roles and finished all the missions in the weekend.
My set up was Sazh as party leader with Procyons and Survivalist Catalog; Light with Lionheart and Speed Sash; Fang with Taming Pole and Speed Sash; ideally everyone should be Auto-Hasted; start with Aggression, and use Cold Blood over and over until you stagger him, from there Light and Fang should take care of him. If one of your party gets killed, hit retry
Maybe she just wanted to give FangXVanille some quality time alone XD
Scary! I'd panic too! And I spend so much time upgrading weapons too  A new game?! :o See as much as I like FFXIII I can't see myself replaying it so soon and have to go through all that tutorial stuff again!
So what's the deal, is Gigantaur the only monster you have left to beat? Do you need to get past it to open up more missions? I've talked to my friend who has cleared Gigantaur and he offered me the following advice, not sure how effective it is:
http://img440.imageshack.us/i/fanglessie.jpg/ (http://img440.imageshack.us/i/fanglessie.jpg/)][IMG]http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/7157/fanglessie.jpg
Laguna!!!! :w00t:
I want to know, if the game triggers any kind of event if Laguna meets his son....
A new version of SNES RPG classic Final Fantasy IV is heading to the PSP, incorporating recent WiiWare expansion The After Years as well as the 1991 original.
Andriasang reports that Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection will boast revamped visuals and a brand new chapter linking the original RPG with its latter-day spin-off.
There are no further details right now, other than a mooted Spring 2011 release date in Japan, but we're onto Square Enix for more information.
Even the most casual Final Fantasy fan should be fairly well-versed in Final Fantasy IV's charms, but The After Years is something of a curio. It started out life as a Japan-only mobile game before coming to Western shores in July 2009 on WiiWare.
It's set 17 years after the events of Final Fantasy IV and follows the adventures of Ceodore, the son of the original game's hero Cecil.
Ryan: I didn't realise this was an issue, but recently it's bubbled up on the internet that people don't know how to say chocobos.
Brad: Oh yeh, who was saying it like che-ko-bos in the office?!
Ryan: Well I've got emails asking how to pronounce it!
Vinny: Do they ever say it in the games?
Brad: I think...maybe might have been said in FFX? Around FFX anyway.
Ryan: Here's my favourite line in FFX, "Hey look there's a fucking Chocobo!"

^ Nice! Haven't seen the Complete one myself, but I've heard it improves the story in a lot of ways, making it a better film.
Woah Orphan's Cradle is an amazing environment :o Very epic. And I can go back to Gran Pulse too! Should maybe do a few more missions while I'm at it! :) There's one of those Undying Cieth ones in the caverns but it's in some inaccessible area, there's no way to reach it and no switch to manipulate the environment or anything. Anyone got a good enough memory to help me out? :nervous
^ Nice! Haven't seen the Complete one myself, but I've heard it improves the story in a lot of ways, making it a better film.
Love that moment.
@Tuffty
Not sure either.
Think you're talking about one of the earlier ones I met when playing. Where you need to jump over Atomos at a bridge to get to.
So if you have a bridge with a gap and don't know what Atomos is. Then you can't get to it yet till you progress more in the story... probably... bad memory! :P
I didn't realise it at the time cause I was laughing pretty loud, but immediately after Ryan says that line, Vinny just jumps in with "Yeah, look at him fuck!"
Prishe, the non-playable character from Final Fantasy XI, is in PSP section game Dissidia 012[duodecim] Final Fantasy, Square Enix has announced.
Prishe is a young Elvaan who played a starring role in the Chains of Promathia expansion to the MMORPG. She swears a lot, apparently, and is similar to FFVII's Tifa in terms of fighting style.
Also included is Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy V, who joins the Chaos side.
Confirmation comes from a Square Enix press event in Tokyo, where a demo called Dissidia012 Prologus was announced. It's described as bigger than a normal demo, but will cost money – 300 yen to download to a PSP.
If you buy the Prologus you'll get FFVII's Aerith as a support-only character in the game.
The demo is out today in Japan.
I so want to watch the XIII-2 trailer but apparently it's got massive spoilers for the end of XIII :nervous I'm deeply curious about it after hearing the developers come out and say they'll look to address complaints levelled against XIII. Who honestly knows what that game could end up being?
I thought, Yuna's second outfit would be her X-2 outfit but wrong! XD
Her second outfit will be her wedding dress from X!
They certainly were! You even had a Tonberry as a summon monster!
How are you getting on with FFXIII Ayako?
There's a whole lot more to Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy than just fighting as your favorite Final Fantasy characters. For the PSP sequel, Square Enix has added a bunch of new modes that will expand the play experience even further. Weekly Famitsu and Famitsu.com have details on three of these: Party Battle, MogWeb, and Original Quests.
ORIGINAL QUESTS
The new Original Quest mode lets you create customized quests. You can give your creations a name and add multiple battles and between-battle events.
Battles can be chosen to be round-based or elimination style. You can specify precise conditions for victory -- things like "win within 3 minutes," for instance. You can also create original rules, making it easier to build up your EX gauge and increasing critical hit rates, for instance. These original rules, incidentally, can be applied outside of the Original Quest mode.
For events, you can set the background, background music, and even choose character icons for dialogue boxes. Some of the icons shown in Famitsu look like the original Final Fantasy sprite art. The magazine suggests attempting to recreate scenarios from the original source material.
You have access to a Test Play button from the edit screen, so seeing how well your creation works should be easy.
MOGWEB
MogWeb is tied into quest creation in that it can be used to download and upload quests. You can search for user uploaded quests by popularity or arrival order. You can also choose to exchange quests with a particular friend by first exchanging the 12 digit friend code that's visible at the bottom of the MogWeb interface screen. By publishing your friend code online, other players will be able to search for your quests and download them.
The MogWeb interface also shows options for "Net Surechigai" (tag mode) and "My Page." The former allows you to do tag mode style data exchanges via the internet -- useful for those who probably won't be passing by other players any time soon. You can do up to four exchanges per day.
The Original Quest mode creation interface has an "Edit Lock" option. I'm assuming this allows you to lock off your creation from being edited by players who download it through MogWeb.
PARTY BATTLE
Party Battle is a free battle mode where you form a five member party and face off against another five member party. You can set each of your characters with a job, which changes their abilities. These types of party battles will also appear in the game's story mode at times.
In an interview with Famitsu this week (posted at Famitsu.com as well), director Mitsunori Takahashi said that Party Battle was implemented with the goal of allowing players to create their dream party combinations. You can even give your creation a name, he noted. Your "Friend Card" player data card can have this party attached to it.
Awesome!!!! :w00t:so do I...
Can't wait anymore for the game!
- 6 Art Prints
- Downloadable costumes for Tifa and Squall
- Voucher for 50% off FFI in the PSN Store
If they put Sora or Riku in Dissidia I think your head might explode Ayako! XD
I don't really have a preference, when I started out with Dissidia I tackled the story mode in terms of difficulty, so Cecil and Cloud came first and finishing it off with Warrior of Light. Not sure if I'll do the same here now I know how the mechanics work. Might just start off with my fav character (Squall) and see if he's changed in anyway.
Final Fantasy spin-off PlayStation Portable series Dissidia ends in its current form with the launch of Duodecim on 25th March.
"There is no next," creator Tetsuya Nomura told Japanese magazine Dengeki PlayStation (reported by Andriasang).
"We're thinking about ending this pattern of Dissidia here. There also won't be a UT [Universal Tuning, the name for the international re-release of the original Dissidia] version. The overseas version is being released at nearly the same time and has the same tuning, so we're not thinking about a release [of a UT version]."
For Dissidia fans, however, there may still be hope. "For the Dissidia series, there's the possibility of it appearing in another form," Nomura said. "However, we feel that we've done all we can with the battle base.
"We had the staff work for years on one-on-one battles, so I'd like to let them do another genre. I feel we've done all we can with this pattern of Dissidia.
"However, it is exciting to see past characters revived in 3D. So, if given the chance, we'd like to do something as Dissidia. However, I don't think it will be this Dissidia."
^ Maybe Ai-chan makes someday her own story with the Quest Maker and shares her Friends Code with all of her Fans all over the world?! :D
That would be so awesome!
Or even playing online against her and not know about it! XD
Or even playing online against her and not know about it! XD
Gosh!!! That would be crazy!!!! XD And then after you see, that you beated Ai-chan, thinking: I beated now really MM's Takahashi Ai?! THE Takahashi Ai?! :shocked Holy crap! XD
But that would never happen... I'm sure, that she is a really good fighter in Dissidia...
Or even playing online against her and not know about it! XD

Or you don't realise it's her until she mentions playing against this friendly foreign player when writing her blog and how she had a great time and wishes she could play against this mystery player again. I wish! :shy1:
•Unique Scenario: Lightning, the protagonist of the popular FINAL FANTASY XIII, will be introduced to the DISSIDIA series for the first time. Players can journey through a unique scenario featuring Lightning that will recount the events leading to DISSIDIA 012[duodecim].
•Carry-over items from DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY to DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY: Players can continue their journey and have the advantage of carrying over in-game items acquired in DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY for use in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.
•Unlock a new character: By purchasing DISSIDIA duodecim prologus, players will also receive the immensely popular Aerith from FINAL FANTASY VII for use as an assist character in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.
"Immediately players can import a save file from the original and carry over all its unlocked content"
"The main quest is where elite players will sense an obvious improvement. The chess boards have been scrapped, instead integrating most major story threads into one scenario, comple with an expansive world map adapted from the original Final Fantasy...Progression unlocks even more story content in the form of Reports, bite-sized chunks of mini-tales involving various member of the Dissidia cast"
"The problem lies in the amount of recycled content."
"The main scenario is still worth pursuing for veterans of this action-RPG offshoot. However for a franchise usually so keen on reinventing itself, this plays it very safe"
You have two options: "Stronger New Game" and "Level Reset." The former carries over your character levels, abilities, accessory slots, AP, player icons and partial PP catalogue. The latter does not carry over character level, ability or AP. You also get some bonus items for importing.
flying monster? There's a LOT in that game XD But I just basically keep my buffer casting buffs whilst debuffing the enemy.

My favourite is still Crisis Core. The ending is so touching ;A;
any news on the gameplay of 13-2?
Dunno what I should say about it... Serah going to be the main heroine in the game?
Oh I sense the fail coming like in X-2! -_-
I was hoping it'd be more like the other FF's. where u have a world map u can freely explore i guess.any news on the gameplay of 13-2?
It will be the same as 13. SO don't worry about that.
Evidently, Theatrhythm will feature characters from all 13 main entries in the Final Fantasy series. Before you scream something at your monitor about how this is butchering the Final Fantasy canon, take a deep, calming breath, as Squeenix has you covered. Each cast will have its own set of three stages, which you can tackle via a party of four characters of your choosing. Those different stage sets will each have their own differing gameplay mechanics as well, though exactly how they're different has not yet been explained.
The exact nature of the rhythm-based gameplay is still a bit of a mystery, though Square Enix has noted that a number of major songs from the numbered entries in the franchise will be included in the game, such as:
"Clash on the Big Bridge" (Final Fantasy V)
"One Winged Angel" (Final Fantasy VII)
"At Zanarkand" (Final Fantasy X)
"The Sunleth Waterscape" (Final Fantasy XIII).
The Main Final Fantasy Theme
Lastly, we have the game's storyline, which, as translated by Andriasang, is absurd.
Apparently, the space between the gods Chaos and Cosmos is known as "Rhythm." "Rhythm" gives birth to the crystal which controls music, and fills the world with sound. However, the forces of chaos have disrupted the peace, and the crystal has begin to lose its shine. To restore the crystal's shine, the music wave "Rizpo" must be increased. And so, the warriors, guided by the crystal, begin their journey of music.
Square Enix's long-awaited Final Fantasy Versus XIII still hasn't entered full production, more than five years after it was first announced.
Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura told Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (translated by Andriasang) that development on the PS3 game was still limited to a "core" section of workers, though that group was now prepping the project for full production.
Due to "trying out a lot of new challenges, the development staff is still focused on the core members," Nomura explained.
- Operation Empire Escape (difficulty level: normal) – the first mission you can choose, a battle with Byakko troops.
- Giudecca Battle (difficulty level: hard) – reach the destination and take out the Soryu army. It’s recommended to use Shiva here.
- Operation Rush the Big Bridge (difficulty level: very hard) – reach the destination and take out Empire units. You’ll find several pieces of magic armor here. Again, summons are recommended.
- Operation Breakthrough the Heart of the Enemy (difficulty level: impossible) – a clash with the Empire army in a forest. Players are advised to level up their characters and enhance their equipment before taking on this stage.
Famitsu says players will be able to use the following characters and commands in the demo. (T – triangle, C – circle, S – square, X – cross)

I still haven't defeated that Neochu to get that yet. I want to but I just can't kill it ><
Take my advice, spam Death on that mofo. Yes it's cheap, but then so is that Neochu, so it balances out. I got really lucky and managed to kill it with Death on my 2nd try. The little furballs were then a piece of cake afterwards.
Huh. I guess they're not really spoilers if SE let the reveal be known to a magazine, but I know why you'd want to give a warning first.
Final Fantasy XIII Team Hints at Sequel
Elsewhere in the interview, Kitase revealed that the team that made Final Fantasy XIII is at work on their next project. According to Kitase, Square Enix has a policy of each team making a game at a pace of one title every two years, so the wait for this title will presumably not be too long.
Asked if they're looking into releasing download content, producer Yoshinori Kitase asked a PR person "Is it okay if I say?" but was denied permission, so he instead said that they're actively looking into it.
Asked if we'll get a limited edition, Kitase said they're "really actively looking into it."
If you have your XIII save data, you'll get some bonuses in XIII-2.
As previously announced, XIII-2 has a monster raising component. Your characters are built up using a new growth system like the Crystarium system from the original. Your monsters have their own growth system which is similar to this.
You'll find over 150 monster types in the game. They all have unique inputs for performing their special skills, so those who aren't too good with action games can select a monster with simple controls.
In XIII, you could only ride Chocobos in the Gran Pulse world. In XIII-2, you can ride them anywhere. However, you won't have access to Chocobos at the start of the game. You'll gain access at a point where it starts to be difficult to move around with ease.
The game will have a red Chocobo. Toriyama says that this will be a unique Chocobo amongst the series' Chocobos.
That Moogle Serah uses as a weapon and as a means of grabbing items items is from Lightning's world. He's come to help Serah.
The "Fragments" shown in last week'S screenshots of the game's time travel interface are part of a quest system. You get them from NPCs and can attempt to clear the related quest. You'll start to encounter these fragments right from the game's first chapter.
Asked about the game's length, Toriyama explained that just looking at the story volume, it's a bit shorter than XIII. However, there are all sorts of additional play elements this time, including the time travel, the fragments, and lots of mini games.
It was already announced that most of the characters from XIII will appear in XIII-2. We'll get an introduction to some of those characters at TGS. Some of the characters will be playable (not necessarily at TGS, but playable in the game).
Serah and Snow are not yet married, and Snow apparently has a good reason for this. In the final version of the game, we'll get the full word on the current status of their relationship.
Development on XIII-2 is currently at 90%. The game has been in development for a little over one and a half years, according to Kitase.
Also, could there be a FF13-3?QuoteFinal Fantasy XIII Team Hints at Sequel

The Xbox 360 version of upcoming Japanese role-playing game Final Fantasy 13-2 comes on one disc, Square Enix has confirmed.
The Xbox 360 version Final Fantasy 13 came on three discs, forcing disc swapping.
Director Motomu Toriyama told Japanese magazine Famitsu (translated by Andriasang) that 13-2 actually has the same amount of volume as 13.
So how has Square Enix squeezed the game onto one Xbox 360 disc? Because the event scenes are real time, Toriyama said. This has the added bonus of event scenes showing your armour changes.
As expected, the PlayStation 3 version of FF13-2 comes on a single Blu-ray disc.
Meanwhile, Famitsu revealed new details on the hotly anticipated game.
13-2 will have quick time events, but apparently if you mess them up you won't suffer a huge penalty. Clearing them grants only subtle benefits.
This time around the Crystarium growth chart does not limit the progress of characters. So, you can make yourself super powerful from the start.
And you can now switch your currently controlled character during battle. Battles do not end when your party leader dies, either.
Final Fantasy head honcho Tetsuya Nomura has moved to reassure fans that spin-off Versus 13 is alive and well despite its Tokyo Game Show no show.
Nomura told Famitsu (translated by Andriasang) that gamers can expect a Final Fantasy like you've never seen before. Bosh.
Nomura recently did a walkthrough of the full world map and checked the game's dungeons and side paths in towns. He was impressed with how expansive everything was.
He revealed the game makes use of the recently announced Luminous next generation engine - for the lighting. For the action portion of the game a Versus 13 specific engine is used.
Explaining this decision, Nomura said Versus 13's lighting is being redone, and the team is using Luminous Engine for this purpose. Versus aims for photo-realism, apparently, so it places greater importance on lighting.
Information on Versus 13, a PlayStation 3 exclusive, has been scarce since its announcement.
In July Nomura said Versus 13 still hadn't entered full production - more than five years after it was first announced.
Square Enix has revealed what extras US gamers can pick up with a Final Fantasy XIII-2 pre-order.
Hand GameStop your cash and you'll get an alternate costume for Serah, visible throughout the game.
Go with Amazon and you'll get access to a unique coliseum boss battle against Omega, who will then join your party.
Or choose Best Buy and you'll get a hardback novella called Final Fantasy XIII: Episode 1 which ties together the events of XIII and XIII-2.
Details of European pre-orders are yet to be announced but this list should provide some idea of what to expect.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is getting paid download content. But two questions remain: how much, and how much?
Regarding the first how much, producer Yoshinori Kitase told Dengeki PlayStation this week that the game will have a large amount of DLC. As a rough schedule, he said to expect one to two updates every month, each containing multiple items.
As for the other how much, Kitase said that they're not able to speak about the contents' price yet. He promised a good balance between price and the quality that customers will accept.
Square Enix has already announced a few pieces of DLC so far, including costumes, weapons and enemies. Kitase said to expect the content to be more involved than just downloading an item or weapon. The content will also be mixed in with play elements, where you have to defeat a monster in order to get an item, for instance.
Kitase confirmed that the game's downloadable costumes and weapons will show up in event scenes. They're currently making the necessary adjustments to get this working.
Outside of the interview with Kitase and director Motomu Toriyama, the Dengeki story provided a detailed look at the game's "Summon Raid" and "Syncro Drive Gauge" systems.
Summon Raid (I'm not sure if this is the actual English name) involves capturing monsters for use in battle. Here's the general flow of this system:
During battle, some percentage of your foes will turn to crystal. The percentage is dependent on the monster.
You can set your Summon Raid with up to three monsters. The monsters have specific roles.
During battle, as you switch Paradigms, the monsters will automatically swap in and out in accordance with their roles.
Synchro Drive Gauge is a special move system for your monster allies. When you have a monster taking part in battle, it builds up its Synchro Guage. When this builds up all the way, the monster will unleash a powerful special move. These may have quick timer events.
It didn’t take them long to reveal what we’ll be getting. Today Square released several graphics detailing the different editions Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be released in. The limited and special editions have been named as the Limited Collectors and Crystal Editions, and now we can tell you what you can expect to recieve with them. Both editions have been confirmed for North America and Europe.

Please SE just announce Type-0 for an EU/US release already! It's gotten 39/40 from Famitsu and has chocobo breeding! Bunch of details and screenshots here (http://www.rpgamer.com/news/Q4-2011/102611a.html)
Impress Watch also explains how the equipment system works. Each character has four different slots to equip items and a maximum load they can carry. You can split these points up any way you like for defensive gear or stat boosting accessories, but can’t exceed the limit. Monsters have decorative items that change how they look in battle. Players can by weapons, armor, items, and monster training goods from Chocolina, a merchant who has the ability to travel through time too. Monsters can grow by purchasing items. Noel and Serah use the Crystarium system, but there is only one path. Players decide which roles to upgrade as they move along the grid.
Impress Watch also commented on the differences between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. In their opinion, there is almost no difference and 90% of the scenes use real time rendering instead of pre-rendered video. Final Fantasy XIII-2 comes out on December 15 in Japan and January 31, 2012 in North America.
This weapon is named after an angel who represents spirits and death. It is believed to possess the power to change the owner's destiny, and your Chain Bonus is upgraded when equipped. Serah alone has the ability to wield this legendary weapon. The player can obtain this weapon from Chocolina merchants, from Episode 2 onwards in the main game for 80 Microsoft Points via Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360. Only Serah has the ability to wield this legendary weapon. The downloadable content launches on 7th February 2012 - four days after the release of the game - and costs 80 MS Points.
^ There is a demo??, there is a demo! downloading! And now the demo is available for Europe!
But.. not valid for your region
Btw, what is the deal with Wild Artefacts? They apparently open crystal gates but I haven't seen one yet? Do they open up places necessary to the story or are they optional places to go to?
How are you finding the game so far coachie? Better than XIII?
We must change the future to save the past!

While we're on the subject of XIII-2, I really can't stand those clock puzzles
They're completely redoing FFXIV over after the uh...'lackluster' release. Supposedly the number of updates they've put into it since then has actually made it enjoyable to play now but it sounds like there will be enough updates coming in Version 2.0 to make it sound like a whole new game. Graphics, game mechanics, environments, they're all being given a rework over to address the issues lots of people had at launch and it actually sounds rather cool. Say what you will about a FF MMO, but these screenshots show at the very least, it's graphically very impressive. (http://www.ffworld.com/?rub=news&page=voir&id=2285)
But Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada said on Twitter today (via Andriasang) that the rumour was "false".
"There's someone making a false rumour that Versus was cancelled," he said. "Haha... just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended. If you saw the presentation of the city, it'd knock you off your feet - lol."
Yeah! I actually have to take a look at the guides (and usually I'm like never looking at them since I feel like it's cheating..) to find some damn fragments... and right now I'm stuck with one Oerba puzzle. So annoying.
XIII-2 has some crazy difficulty spikes.
Square Enix look like they’re building up to a pretty major announcement at their Final Fantasy Gallery event in Japan, with the opening day already revealing a boxed set that contains every single numbered Final Fantasy game so far.
According to website Andriasang the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box will be available only through the Square Enix eShop and will weigh a hefty five kilograms. The box will also feature a brand new illustration by series regular Yoshitaka Amano. This is its full list of games:
Final Fantasy (PS one, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy II (PS one, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy III (PSP, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy IV (PS one, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy V (PS one, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy VI (PS one, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy VII International (PS one, 4 discs)
Final Fantasy VIII (PS one, 4 discs)
Final Fantasy IX (PS one, 4 discs)
Final Fantasy X (PlayStation 2, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy XI Vana Del Collection 2 (PlayStation 2, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy XII (PlayStation 2, 1 disc)
Final Fantasy XIII (PlayStation 3, 1 disc)
Apart from Final Fantasy X-2 and XIII-2 that is an impressively complete list, but the box also contains the following:
Special anniversary video disc
Crystal ArtWorks -- an anniversary visual art collection
A two-disc anniversary music selection CD
Final Fantasy XIV Mogu Mogu earring item code
Mini-replica of Amano Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary visual and stand
The box set will be released in Japan on December 18 (the exact date the very first game was released in Japan back in 1987) and will cost ¥35,000 – which is about £280.
Sony Japan president Hiroshi Kawano was on hand to point out that the forthcoming release of Final Fantasy III on PSP means that all the mainline games are now all available on one PlayStation format or another, finally making the Ultimate Box possible.
Kawano wasn’t the only big nob in attendance though, with Microsoft business chief Takashi Sensui also making an appearance and Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata providing a video message extoling Final Fantasy’s virtues.
Square Enix CEO was also on hand to assure fans that the Final Fantasy series is far from over, and that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still being made.

Jamie Colliver spent six months of his free time painstakingly recreating the revered JRPG using the malleable LBP2 tool set. The work spans 20 levels and covers all conversations, soundtracks, characters, bosses and enemies. Even the battle system has been recreated.
^ wow, that's sounds hard.
I found the Endboss almost too easy, when the three dragons appeard I really thought this is it, I'm done for.
He never managed to kill me, but my group was already very high leveled (maybe even maxed out, I can't remember) so it was a piece of cake.
Can't even remember that he used status effects.
I did him on the first try, something that rarely happens to me in a game, it was almost disaapointing.
I thought I was overlevelled! First try?! :o Guess I'm going to have to farm out some more then.
Famitsu has more information about Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
The magazine introduced Lumina who looks like Serah, but with a little bit of a gothic lolita style. Lumina appears to know where Lightning is headed. Sometimes Lumina helps Lightning, but other times Lumina gets in Lightning’s way. Lumina kind of views Lightning like a toy.
Lightning will have new abilities and magic spells in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. It seems like there is some kind of guard and evasion system in the game too. Players will be able to take side quests posted on a bulletin board and clearing these might extend the time the world survives.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII gives Lightning a new costume. Don’t like it? You can change her look by obtaining different “wear.” There are three kinds of wear in a set and you can equip wear in battle. Two costumes were revealed too. The Dark Muse outfit gives Lighting a camouflage jacket, knife, and a lattice style shield. The Lonely Soul in a Sandstorm costume is kind of like samurai armor.

A one-time ally of Lightning, Snow was engaged to her sister, Serah. Now he is the world’s last remaining l’Cie, cursed with a terrible power.
Though devastated by his failure to protect Serah, he has served as the Patron of Yusnaan for five long centuries. He protects the city and its people even as the rest of the world falls apart.
“We all come into the world alone, and that’s the way we’ve gotta leave it.”

Which we may see revealed at E3 next week. I would put money down on saying that Versus XIII is now becoming XV for next gen consoles.

- A video was shown detailing how Lightning’s model for Lightning Returns was built from scratch. They used 18 textures for her model, and it was compared next to her XIII model. In general, her LR model looks noticeably better than before. They also said that unlike in XIII and XIII-2, the same model will be used for both in-game and cutscene events. They showed some new outfits and decorations as well.
- For Lightning Returns, they want to depict Lightning’s human side even more through her emotional struggles.
- The Lightning saga was expanded to a trilogy because it was part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythos which was huge.
- In terms of gameplay, there are 13 days left in the world but you start the game with only 7 days left. You can then extend the time through completing quests.
- There will be around 80-100 outfits available for Lightning in-game. They are fully customizable, including the colors. Create your own Lightning.
- Previous outfits for Lightning from XIII and XIII-2 will be available if you have save datas from both games.
- There are no eidolons this time around because of Etro’s death.
- In terms of DLC content, they’re not thinking on extra episodes/bosses. They want the game to be 100% complete when you buy it. DLC outfits are in consideration if there’s a big demand. No DLCs after launch.
- Lightning was shown in Yuna’s outfit. They didn’t confirm if it will be available in-game or through DLC.
Now we know, what if it was a real, life-sized weapon.Every hero needs a villain. :)

I liked FFXIII-2 better than XIII (I'm a sucker for games featuring time travel) but the ending is terrible.
