Title: [2009.10.30] AKB48's 1st Musical "Infinity"

AKB48's first musical is on its way!

The main cast:
Sayaka and Takamina OR Sae and Yukirin (depending on date)
+10 other AKB48 members who are to be announced later.

The musical will be based on AKB48's songs.

They will perform 14 stages at G-rosso from 30th October to 8th November.

Price for tickets is 5500yen.

Is there a vampire boom going around right now I wonder. Maria is a guaranteed song definitely, but any thoughts about the rest?

Speaking about the countryside, isn't there a takamina based song about a country girl? (sorry about my fuzzy AKB reference)

Love, partners and lesbianism are pretty well covered themes in AKB world, so there is a huge library there. But vampires?

I think that's "Kikyou" from A4. It could be likely that it'll be included as well. (I had to look it up haha, I always skip it).

As for other songs.. I have no idea what they will come up with  :nervous

I didn't see the whole vampire thing coming. Seems very unlike them, but it's a nice excuse to have them biting each other's necks  :lol:

The vampire boom currently is annoying >_>(I love vampires  but everything coming out in this 'boom' is stupid, I think this'll be fine though)

My guess for songs is 'Kinjirareta futari' as it's about a forbidden love(and if that's not there then oshibe and meshibe will be...I just see this one as more likely)
And if it is there I'll love it even more with french speaking parts <3

At first I think this was a silly project. Aside from it falling into this ultra fail emo vampire concept that has swept the entertainment world lately, it felt like a cheap shot at making some cash using lezbo overtones. But..

The shadow on the wall made me think Yuki had a pigtail XD I agree that a feminine Takamina is odd too. But then I don't think they make her the tomboy in this case; making her wear huge platforms like she did in Mendol won't work as well if the feminine one is as tall as Yuki, for instance. :lol:
But Sae+Sayaka looking BADASS. :thumbup

I watched the 13:30 show with Sae and Yukirin as the main.
When I got there, the musical had already started.
Lucky I got there just before the thugs started picking on Yukirin. So I just got to see Sae use his wicked vampire-psyche powers on 'em to save the damsel. :lol:

For songs, Sae did Blue Rose and Yuki did 109 with some of the girls. Both songs I already liked. :wub:
How they made a beach scene into a vampire story just baffles me. :P
The maid songs were great.
Sae and Yukirin's solos near the end were also really good.
And cos I haven't seen real plays before, seeing the transformation of the stage was fun.

The play itself was easy enough to understand even with my 0% japanese language understanding. I enjoyed it.

The songs were a little weird placed between spots, singing all hyper just after waking up from bed feels... supernatural. yet, entertaining at the same time. :P

I think it really would've been better if a few more AKB members were in it though. Maybe not the most popular ones, but a few that even basic fans like me could recognise. For the existing group, I could only recognise 1-2 of the remaining cast.
With the success of this though, I hope they can put more resources into the next musical. And more goods for the musical.

When it ended, that was when I found out it was Sae and Yukirin's last showing of Infinity. I didn't know that beforehand, so it was kinda suprising when they said it.
I also didn't know they had stuff after the musical, so I was caught off guard when we had to line up. I, of course used the safest route and went to the longest line. I was assured after seeing the guy in front of me use his mobile and seeing his phone-pic was Yukirin. :lol:

So Sae and Yuki came out from the back and started gaving out extra pics for their line (Yuki's was her schoolgirl pic).
I know it's kinda breaking rules to talk and stop the line, but since I might not have such a chance ever I wouldn't mind breaking the rules a little.
After I got the pic from Yuki. I told her I was from HK, and I got her suprised look. :w00t: That was priceless. :inlove:
I also said that I really liked Temo Demo no Namida while the staff was pushing me off (glad I got that off my chest). She said "Thank You". And "Bye Bye!" while waving goodbye with that cute shiny smile she has. awww~ :wub:

I'm sure a lot of the audience are also Anime Otaku, so there had to be a beach scene.  :lol:

I hope the DVD release is done like Himawarigumi and has both casts.

Hurray for double-posting? :P

I just watched the Sae-Yuki version. I was expecting to watch a video with some very light lezzing out, random musical numbers, and horrendous acting, but I actually walked away quite surprised. I know nothing about musicals but this one seemed pretty well put together. One thing I did notice was the dialog was very simple and straight forward. I don't know much Japanese but even my "skills" had zero problem picking it up. It was kinda refreshing in that regard. :lol: Still, the story was somewhat interesting and a lot of the acting was surprisingly good. Sae's performance was best and absolutely amazing. She put out so much emotion and even though I've noticed her improvement over the years, her vocals in this blew me right out of the water. Yuki's performance was also pretty good, but there were a lot of moments where she went to her default "I'm not sure what to do here so I'll smile really big :D" face. The supporting cast was pretty awesome. Those guys were pretty good. :thumbup The AKB girls also did really good. They tended to overact a bit but that is what they were there for, pretty much. The musical numbers were terrific. The original music for the play felt really powerful and... well, musical-like. :P The AKB numbers were also great. It was so cool to see girls like Haachan, Yonechan, Ucchi, Nakayan and the rest getting to be front girls for a change. They did an awesome job! Also, lol at Haachan's bone falling out after Hone Hone Waltz. :lol:

So yeah, Infinity is totally awesome, and not just for the kissing scenes. Check it out. :thumbsup

I'll wait for my copy to arrive to watch it. Just want to point out to sae fans that Sayaka version also exists  :P2

Well, even when the story is the same, the characters' personalities change depending on the version, so both are worth watching.

I finally saw it as well! SaeYuki version, of course  :halo:

It took me a while to get into it. The Aitakatta performance at the beginning didn't really help to create an exiting atmosphere. Especially at first the setting was kinda bland too. In some cases, a clean setting works really well, for example when Yuki was in bed. The lighting was really well done imo.

Let's start with the supporting cast. It's cool to see that they used some new girls and underdogs to participate in this project. Having said that, I feel that Natsuki and Nakatsuka are a bit of a mis-match. Maybe it's the age difference, but I wasn't really feeling them. They did their best, so it's probably just me. I also feel that Katayama and Chisato got shafted a bit. Sure, they were there, but they did not get to say or do that much. Some of the girls truly impressed me. In particular Wasamin. She's pretty young but her acting, as well as her vocals were great. The second girl who deserves special props is Nakayan. She made her way back info my fandom. Great vocals. Speaking of great vocals, that one guy from the professional actors has an amazing voice!

In all honesty, as non-biased as I can be, Yuki owned the musical. I was a bit worried about whether she could act at all, because she kinda failed at it when she did that seiyuu work on Nemousu. She pulled it off very well. Granted, her role is probably less challenging than Sae's, but I still believed her. I absolutely love Yuki's vocals. Some songs suited her better than others, but overall she was great. Especially the ballad after Kimi wa Pegasus was amazing. I also dug 'Yuki Bell ga Naru' at the end.

I can give Sae nothing but props. It must be incredibly hard to pull of solo versions of Blue Rose and Maria, but she stood her ground. the highlight was when she sang Kimi wa Pegasus. I could heel her pain, she really gave it her all during that performance. epic.

Speaking of the songs, I really liked some of the transitions between the acting and the songs. For example the way they went straight into Blue Rose was nicely done. On the other hand, some of the songs kinda ruined the mood, but I guess a musical must have a mix between various types of songs.

I can't really think of a good ending sentence, but it is definitely worth a watch.

edit: I'm curious about the Sayaka/Takamina version. I think Sayaka must be awesome in the solo versions of these songs and I wonder if Takamina can look as typically girly as Yuki did...

Well considering that Takamina is a female, I would say so. I know it's a running gag here to allude that she isn't, but I guess the joke is lost on me. She holds her own fine. I've watched the Sayaka-Takamina version about halfway through and it's pretty solid. Sayaka has a great voice for this kind of singing and it's no surprise that she has already signed onto another musical.

Still, I'm glad to see a positive review of the SaeYuki version. :thumbup So far all I've read in here is bull from people who decided it was the inferior program without even watching it. :P

I watched both versions, dun want to say that much coz I prefer writing in my blog, but both versions have their pros and cons. Sayaka is a pro when it comes to singing and she's got this amazing pose on stage. But even though when it was her idea to kiss for real, I think the SayaTaka kisses were not as romantic as the SaeYuki pair's.

Sae's voice is so weak compared to Sayaka, but that weakness made of her character totally "hugable." I would have get rid of that wig, though. The SaeYuki pair wasn't as pro as the other pair but it was more natural.

Of course I liked the SayakaTaka version more but it's not Sae's fault. It's just that I'm not very fond of Yuki.

This musical made me think Sayaka has been losing her time and wasting her talent in AKB, she should have joined Takarazuka Revue. But it's too late for that now. And I wouldn't have been able to meet her if she were a Takarazuka.... :bleed eyes:
