Reports: Raptors in talks with Pacers to deal Ford for O'Neal

The Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors have held discussions about a possible trade involving Jermaine O'Neal and T.J. Ford, according to reports in the Indianapolis Star and the Toronto Star.

The Raptors -- eager to move an unhappy Ford and make Jose Calderon their starting point guard -- also would include center Rasho Nesterovic and possibly their first-round pick in Thursday's draft, both newspapers reported.

Shaq raps on New York stage, takes shots at Kobe

Four years, two teams and a championship later, Shaquille O'Neal is still ripping Kobe Bryant.

Video on TMZ.com shows the Phoenix Suns center doing a freestyle rap in a nightclub on Sunday night in which he puts down his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate.

"You know how I be," Shaq rapped. "Last week Kobe couldn't do without me."

Thought Shaq had some class, but this just makes ya shake your head and sigh.

That was a funny as hell video. It's probably gonna get blown up more than it is, it was just a freestyle, I doubt he meant to diss Kobe anyway. They closed the hatchet a long time ago, so I bet nothing's gonna happen except repeated plays of it

Suns ready to make a move?

Sources say the Phoenix Suns appear poised to make a draft day deal.

They are talking with Toronto about sending Boris Diaw to the Raptors for T.J. Ford and the 17th pick in Thursday's draft. Ford, who would back up Steve Nash, played for new Suns coach Terry Porter in Milwaukee from 2003 to 2005.

The Suns are also considering a trade with Portland in which they would send Leandro Barbosa to the Blazers for Martell Webster and the 13th pick of this year's draft.

Only one, if any, of those trades will happen.

Elsewhere, some say Atlanta doesn't want to go above $11 million per year to sign restricted free agent Josh Smith. If that's the case, look for Smith to end up in Philadelphia.

The Sixers would love to get Elton Brand, but word is that he doesn't want to take a pay cut from the $16 million-plus he's due next season -- except to go to Miami.

So with Brand pretty much out of the question, Philly will look at Smith and Antawn Jamison. The Sixers can start either one at $11 million with 8 percent annual increases.

Smith, by the way, would fit perfectly in Philly's up-tempo, run-and-jump system. But I think Atlanta must match whatever offer he gets. If they don't re-sign him, they'll lose all the momentum they gained by taking Boston to seven games, not to mention a great budding young talent.

Miami is trying desperately to find a way to get Brand, whose first choice is the Heat, but a sign-and-trade for Shawn Marion is probably the only way to get it done. Hard to see that happening.

If the Miami Heat's recent activities are any indication, they are not going to select Kansas State forward Michael Beasley with the No. 2 pick in Thursday's NBA draft.

With the first selection, the Chicago Bulls are leaning strongly toward drafting Memphis point guard Derrick Rose. While the Bulls say they won't announce their decision until draft night, Bulls GM John Paxson admits that Chicago is "probably leaning a certain way."

T.J Ford, Nesterkovic, 17th draft pick, AND a player to be announced later for Jermaine O'Neal went through. Can't be finalized until July 1, but its a done deal.

The majority of Raptor fans hated on Ford A LOT. There was a statistic where if Ford had less than 10 pts, the Raps would win. They both produced the same numbers, so i don't really see what people were all the hating took place.

Hopefully O Neal will recover. Thats pretty good now, O Neal and Bosh. We finally have star power at the Center position (alas, Hakeem the Dream didn't deliver when he was here)

The Wizards have been talking with several teams about trading down in the draft. Talks with the Pistons last night ended up going nowhere. The latest has them talking about a swap with the Rockets that would send No. 18 to Houston and No. 25 to Washington.

Hours before the NBA draft,the New Jersey Nets and Milwaukee Bucks completed a trade that may suit both team's long-term needs.

In a deal first reported by ESPN.com's Marc Stein, New Jersey sends forward Richard Jefferson to Milwaukee for forwards Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons. No draft picks are involved in the trade.

The swap creates an estimated $10-plus million in long-term savings for the Nets as they continue to re-shape their team after trading another mainstay -- point guard Jason Kidd -- to Dallas in February.

I'm pretty sure he did, when he traded Antoine Walker, Marko Jaric, Greg Buckner and the rights to No. 3 pick O.J. Mayo to Memphis for Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal, Jason Collins and the rights to No. 5 pick Kevin Love.

With the NBA draft now come and gone, fans who were disappointed by their team's picks (or lack thereof) can now look forward to Tuesday, July 1, for their team to try to add pieces to the puzzle.

Since we wrote our last free-agent update in February, the free-agent market has shifted considerably. A number of NBA veterans who had the option of opting out of their contracts chose not to, leaving a very weak crop of unrestricted free agents. Combine that with only a handful of teams with potential cap room and you have what could be a pretty lackluster summer.

The name, colors, and the uniforms, they're safe.

But the other stuff? That's trickier.

The evidence suggests the Oklahoma City TBDs are hanging onto a fair amount of Sonic history.
