The new AKB48 single will be different, because the fans choose the girls who will participate in the single by voting (through a ticket of FC). The 21 highest scoring girls will get a spot!

Actually, rumor has it that the undergirls will get a pv as well. In that case, it's probably better to be in 22-30, because you'll get more lines and more screen time! If that's true --> yay Sasshi and Rena!
Apparently the b-side will be a sexy song, so Meetan will fit right in as well.
edit: just pre-ordered! This will actually be my first AKB48 single :lol: If even I (cheap ass) starts pre-ordering their stuff, they'll be up to 200K in no time :w00t:

I really like it. Sure, it does sound a bit like an anime theme and it doesn't sound very special.. but I don't care :lol: There's guitars, energy, interesting vocal bits.. it's all I want.

Heard it a few days ago and wasn't very impressed...but I never have been since they signed with King Records and I've always come round to like the song eventually so I expect the same to happen here. I'm just happy to see Amina in there more than anything as I thought she didn't have a chance of making it.

Sad about the lack of erepyon though, I thought she ranked higher than a bunch of girls that got more exposure :(

Love this PV! Oshima is a great actress imo. Too bad it wasn't until near the ending they put in some very quick shots of Kasai, Amina, Rie, Jurina and Sayaka. I didn't see Mocchi at all :( Still, can't complain. Love-tan is pretty funny in this PV. There's something strange about Mayuyu, somehow it looks painful when she opens her mouth and has to articulate.

^ I think they only discovered during editing that happened, and had no way of returning to the location to re-shoot.
Maybe someone with a lot of patience can edit it frame by frame :)

AKB48 outsells SMAP on first day

As evidence of their growing popularity, the latest single by idol group AKB48 ranked #1 on the daily charts, outperforming even SMAP's newest song. According to Oricon, AKB48's "Iiwake Maybe" had estimated sales of more than 57,000 copies in its first day, compared to less than 31,000 copies for SMAP's "Sotto Kyutto / Superstar." Both were released on August 26.
Before this, AKB48 had never reached #1 on the daily or weekly charts. At this rate, "Iiwake Maybe" is on track to become their first chart-topper when the weekly sales numbers are published next week. SMAP, on the other hand, has already put out 21 number-one singles, including their last 10 releases before "Sotto Kyutto." Meanwhile, popular anime series "K-On!" occupied the #3 to #5 slots with three new character singles. Last month, the show managed to become the first anime series to reach #1 with a character album.

SMAP: - 30,901 + 30,819 + 16,407 + 9,599 = 87,726
AKB48: - 57,456 + 13,840 + 7,063 + 3,738 = 82,097
Ah well, I would've been epic to beat SMAP, but I guess we can't complain :)
I hope the single will reach 100K. 10Nen Sakura has a first week sale of 66,226 and ended with a total around 104k, so I guess it should be possible.

It's the only site I can order from which has a bonus, so I'm happy. I agree it's a bit plain, but otherwise I may end up with a pic of 3 girls I'm not that interested in.
Btw, just watched the dvd. I totally cried during that documentary footage :nervous. I could feel the tension and relief. That #1 announcement was quite the anti-climax. Everyone in the world knew who would get it :lol:

After all the hoopla and conspiracy theories of not including handshake event based CDs, I'll say 90,000+ is a good number.

I can't remember if I said this here or not but I think the high-ups wanted to see how well they could sell with just one event(the yomiuri land one) and it looks pretty good to me :D
I just hope the next song is darker for a change in pace(and having a happy b-side maybe?)

I'm not quite sure what they're talking about, probably me just trying to work out why they've done less events this time.
That or they've misunderstood the fact that from september 1st only the first 3000CD copies sold at events held outside official oricon outlets(hmv etc) will count towards the chart and the fact that this is now real and in place?
