Memorable Game Overs
« on: September 04, 2014, 12:42:27 AM »

This topic is to discuss some of your memorable game over title screens, deaths or sequences. It could be because of the art, the music, or anything about it that particularly sticks with you.

To get the ball rolling, I liked Metroid Prime. It's pretty simple, but also pretty depressing, hated it when it happened to me:

Dead Space 2 has particularly gory death scenes, but to me, none were as hard to watch as the puker death

Persona 4 is great too, the piano is what makes it.

Recently on Skyrim I was exploring a tomb and ended up in a tricky spot with one of those floor pressure panels that activate a trap, as well as awakening draugrs, my follower Rumarin and a conjured flame atronarch. The trap was for the spike wall (this one http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:SR-trap-Spike_Wall_Trap.jpg) that I had just managed to pass safely, but the panel activating it and everyone else were behind me, now starting to fight. GUESS WHO GOT WHAMMED BY THE DAMN SPIKE WALL THREE TIMES because EVERYONE was running over the damn panel!! Yup that was death times, and I hadn't saved inside the tomb once, either. But I still love my husband Rumarin.

EDIT: Not sure what you were looking for, but I thought it was a funny death!

The topic can include memorable video game deaths or something you liked about the actual Game Over screen. Either or is good! :D

Tenchu : Wrath Of Assassins was pretty good

Catherine

If it wasn't bad enough to get a game over, you're also told that love is over.

Technically there aren't any game overs in Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.

Here are two "fails" that I found hilarious:

^ The music in that Ghost Trick vid really makes me want to play the game!

Only memorable to me, because it took so damn long until you could reload and that made me furious and hate that cat with a passion!
I was basically fuming, angrily pressing random controller buttons XD

Same goes for the game over screen of the first one.

When I was really young the Zelda II ending always made me sad because of the RETURN OF GANON. Like "okay, you failed and now the world's in darkness again. Way to go."

(There's fast flashing in the video so be warned!!!)

And also Final Fight
