Probably one of my fave groups. Talented dudes who write their own lyrics and produce some of their own tracks.
Anyways, in case none of ya heard, they're making their way into Japan next year. But the quirky thing about it, is that they'll be on an underground japanese label, releasing english songs...
Either way, I can't wait.
2nd Mini-album should be out November, but with the success of the current one, they might promote it longer...because President YG is stingy and greedy like that. Oh, and there's supposed to be a Tae Yang solo single but I'm guessing that's postponed as well.

Big Bang is awesome, I'm impressed with the amount of success they've achieve after only being around for just a year. Their songs are catchy as hell and I love the songs where they sampled from Western artists and made it their own ("This Love" from Maroon 5's "This Love", "Forever with You" from Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together")
My fangirl sister told me about their upcoming debut in Japan next year and their album is going to be in English. Some of them were given new names for their Japanese stage names. Here's a teaser of the English version of VIP, doesn't sound too different much hehe

So here some news for Big Bang fans~! If you liked the special stage collab Big Bang did with Wonder Girls you're in for a real treat~! :heart: A new music based dorama is in the works for them, and supposedly there's going to be couples forming~! Filming has rapped and now it's in the editing process ^^ They said there's going to be a medley of their two hit songs (I'm gonna guess Geotijimal/Lies and Tell me) but I don't know if it's going to be the opening, or if it's part of a performance thing their characters do. But I can't wait to see it~! If filming's already done, it should be coming out fairly soon ^^

They did a second special stage with WG but this time...it wasn't that great. I was hoping BB to perform Last Farewell and WG Ee Babo but no :( they did the same again but Tell me was really messy...at least BB was there to save the show with Koh Jid Mal XD

Both T.O.P and G-dragon is in hostpital because they are too exhausted and T.O.P have to stay at the hostpital a bit longer and he will not preform at MBC "Music Festival. :cry: I don't like YG at all right now, they make the guys do to much at one time, now they have a concert and alot of "award show/music festival" things. :angry: :cry:

I downloaded the album days ago and zomg they have the sexiest english ever LOL. I'm still not sure how they are gonna do with their debut because GD is still in the hospital, TOP's tooth fell out (i hope they already solved that ROFL) and he's still kinda...lol. Oh well.
The mini is oficially out on 4th so let's see how they do on the charts. Also, the guys are going to use english names for the debut, just GD and TOP have the same names:

So, they're using their old nicknames~ G-dragon is still G-dragon and T.O.P is still T.O.P :P Seems that YG doesn't wants to use the japanese language at all ROFL.

I checked Oricon's page but it doesn't appears. Idk, its still the same as the past few days....

They're a relatively unkown group on an independant label in Japan, so I don't think you should get your hopes up in terms of oricon chart rankings. There are a bunch of already established indie groups in Japan who still don't make the charts.
You're best bet is to try your luck in the Oricon Indies Chart which only does weekly rankings. But looking at the artists in that chart, they're unlikely to get anywhere there either.
Edit: Just listened to it, pretty good. "How Gee" is a kick ass breakbeat, great for b-boying too. I've always liked "Lie". The album is pretty much a bunch of hip-hop/r&b styles, but nothing really stands out. And it seems like they don't really have their own sound down yet, but as they're still a new group, that's expected. With better marketing, there would be no reason for them to do conciderably bad. I'm not familiar with their Korean releases so I'm not sure how those are but from what I read it's not much different from the Japanese/Englsh versions. But overall it's a solid Japanese debut, but it was released completely wrong. Having it as a indie release was a mistake. They should've have gone all out with a PV and everything with CM's and posters in shops. Only time will tell how well it will do.

How Gee is pretty nice, but I really hope YG sees this as a failuire and they end their Japanese career, because they have a huge fandom in Korea but not in Japan. I didn't really liked the idea of the Japanese debut, because geeeezzz, there's too many Koreans trying in the Japanese market now and YG doesn't seems to do well with the promotion of they artists in Japan, I asume that by seeing how they promoted Se7en in Japan, it wasn't that succeful like they expected.
Anyways, I hope they get a 2nd Volume this year! Almost a year since their 1st Volume, I need more than a mini-album XD VICTORY SOLO PLZ.

^I highly doubt YG will see this as a failure. They went to an indie label for a reason, and they didn't do a bunch of marketing or promotion, so I doubt they expected this to do really well. I think they wanted to test the waters. Besides, every group that is doing well in Korea is going to be looking to branching out in other Asian markets. The Korean music scene just isn't a very good money maker. 50,000 is considered amazing if a group can sell that much. And albums don't give much return on investment if they sell so few. Most musicians make their money appearing on shows, in cf's, or in campaign ads in Korea.
I think Big Bang will continue to try and test the waters out in different markets. Honestly I hope they do~ Maybe they'll try for an American debut in a few years since their English is actually pretty decents, especially in comparison to Rain o.O (Which I love as well, but really his English is awful XD).

^I didn't say it because of the lack of promotion, I say it becaus the guys are very tired. The reason why most of them were/are in the hospital is because of their promotion in Korea, is way enough for their bodies and trying new things Japan makes it worse. BB sells good, they have sold like 591,742 cd's (I counted that from the sales that are appearing in their wiki page), counting their 3 singles, the 1st album, the concert album and the two minis. Always sold 70,735 and Hot Issue has sold 41,416 to date so, it seems pretty good. Their first album sold like, 110,000 so I hope their second volume sells more than that. For now, I hope they get a rest because if they not, soon all the members will be in the hospital :lol: They rly need to sleep! TOP sleeps like 2-3 hours! I hope they get a rest and then start to work on their second volume~ :)

I heard on Big Bang's Soompi Forums that they got the 35th spot on Oricon charts. i dunno know if this is good or bad, but considering they had little to none promotion, i'm guessing good? If it is, then glad they had a nice japanese debut....
I dunno if they really are serious about debuting in Japan, though ... especially choosing with an English-song album instead of a japanese one... i think they're really just "testing out the japanese waters" as stated on one articles. it just that Japan is like the 2nd or 3rd biggest music market in the world and since japan is so close to korea and with the recent Hallyu wave...they're doing it to get exposure to the international market first.... which isn't really a bad marketing strategy if USA or UK is their main target. with the English album, they'll get exposure thru Japan into the West... which would eventually help them accomplish their goals, if USA and the west is their main objective in the first place.
If they were serious about japan, wouldn't u think they'll signed with a major label and actually start promoting their albums before it released or sumthing? but since T.O.P is injured and that they are tired from the recent performances that would explain why they aren't active yet promotion-wise. and maybe signing with a major label isn't that easy?
just something to point out.
And no, i'm not an anti-fan, if that's what ur thinking, but I wouldn't say that i'm a huge BB fan, but i do like some of their music.
I like mostly their r&b and pop-ish hip-hop beats. i'm not really a big fan of hardcore rap/hiphop. just upbeat, fun and sometimes slow, smooth beats in general.

In the end, Whatever Big Bang and YG is planning, wish them success. they're a talented group. if they really do want to pursue a success career in Japan, i'm sure they'll find success.... although i had no idea how Japan perceive hip-hop music since j-pop and j-rock have been dominating on the charts for a long time...

^Hip-hop is well and alive among the youth of Japan. Just seeing as there's some hints of Japan's Hip-Hop culture in the west shows that it's pretty strong(though it seems mostly in fashion and lifestyle than music). It just doesn't seem to have as much of a diehard fanbase as j-pop and j-rock.
^^also I say it was a mistake to have them release the album in this way was as it shows how little faith they have in the artists success in Japan. Really, I think the best choice would have been to not try and crossover at all right now as they are doing so much in Korea as it is. If they are planning on bringing them to the US or something, It's not gonna happen... Asian entertainers almost never have success in the states. Especially if it's going to be Big Bang, they really have nothing to offer the western market as of now. Just look at what happened to Rain and Utada, and they were some of the best Japan and Korea had to offer and they were at the prime of their careers.

I agree that the guys should have waited a bit so they wouldn't be so overworked, but it was bound to happen eventually. And it seems by nature GD is sort of a workaholic and perfectionist, so I think he's always going to be working hard to improve the group. I hope they get much needed rest though.
As for why they didn't sign with a major record label, my speculation is that they wanted to still have creative control over their sound and what music they produce. If they went with a company like AVEX, they give their artists very little control and overwork them to death if they're popular. So perhaps YG and BB were looking for a company that would allow them to do the music they wanted, and wouldn't exploit them. So with that in mind it's usually better for the artists to go with a smaller company.
As for their numbers selling in Korea, I'm more than aware of how well they're doing XD I was just trying to make a point of how bad the Korean music market is now.
SITS: On the topic of Rain though, he hasn't failed because he hasn't even released anything in the US musically as of yet, so it's too fast to say he's failed. He's coming out in the Speed Racer movie this summer, and is currently working hard on his English Album. He's getting a lot of language training as well. He's been in US Time and US People, recognized for various things, so I think with media backing him, he should do well. It might be a slow start, but I think he can do it.

My friend got me some ads from their Japanese promotion. She found them on a CD store where she tends to buy her CDs in Hon-Atsugi station. So that means they did promoted but not a huge deal. Well, that kinda makes me feel better :lol: Though it wasn't a great promotion...XD

Aparently, they're going to promote their mini album next month! The article from all kpop:
Next month, the group will start promotions for their Japanese album that was released earlier this month. Planned Promotions include solo concerts in March and possibly fan events to put their name out on the market. This seems like a poorly devised plan as their album has had no promotions until this point, possibly a little too much a little too late.
:lol: since they'll have concerts, let's hope the CD gets decent sales :)

I've said it before and bottom line is:
TOP, G-dragon, Taeyang are all not gay. They might play on both teams tho. Seungri and the other gay dude are gay. No doubt about it. XD
Now if these guys really wanna ungay themselves they should get some nice beards to go with their fly looks. You can't be a dawg without a proper beard. Tho I wonder if them boys are old enuff to even grow one? Nevertheless, it goes without saying that they actually have some talent and decent looks, and songs stuck to your head like falling confetti. Oh and TOP's solo song is fucking awesome, they should do more stuff like that.

In their upcoming nationwide tour, which begins this coming 12th, Big Bang will reveal a video parodying Japanese popular anime, “Hana Yori Dango”.
“Hana Yori Dango”, an anime that has gained popularity from all over the world, starred Taiwanese group F4 in a drama version [*T/N: called "Meteor Garden"] and was so successful it went on to a second season. Currently, there is a Korean version of the drama “Hana Yori Dango” in the workings.
Big Bang, who received a hot response from their fans for their MBC “Coffee Prince” parody during their concert at the end of last year, were thinking of what event they should do for the nationwide tour this year, when they decided to parody “Meteor Garden”, which most fans are very familiar with.
Male lead Tsukasa will be acted by TOP; Rui, friend of Tsukasa and always supporting of him, will be acted by G-Dragon; and Akira and Sojiro will be played by Seungri and Taeyang respectively. The female lead Tsukushi will be played by Daesung and is expected to give great laughter to the fans.
Big Bang said, “Because we are not pretty boys, we thought it would be fun to act out the roles of pretty boys. At first, it was very awkward, but because of Daesung, who’s playing the female role, we were able to film with laughter and fun the entire filming.”
“Hana Yori Dango”, acted out by Big Bang, will be first revealed on the 12th at the Busan concert.
Big Bang’s nationwide tour “2008 Global Warning Tour” is set to begin on the 12th in Busan, and continue to Kwangju on the 27th, WonJu on May 11th, Daegu on May 24th, and Seoul on Jun 21st and 22nd.

It's a REALLY good album *_* I'm in love :wub: TaeYang's Japanese is really good :D and the chorus of Mad About You (IT'S BABO :heart:) is all in Japanese :heart: :heart: and the rest in English. All of them sounds really good, but this seems more like a TaeYang, TOP and GD album, because it's not many lines for SeungRi or DaeSung, but yeah~ almost all of their songs have more TOP, GD and TaeYang.

The english singing is always a bit weird, but the rapping is pretty good. And the production quality is really crappy compared to their other releases. Still prefer their first Japanese release. This one seems a bit "weak," but I guess it's to sell more to the fangirls, who couldn't probably care less about music production. >_>

TOP has been cast to play a killer in the highly anticipated and upcoming drama Iris. The final cast has yet to be complete, so there has been no filming done as of yet, but it's expected to cost about $20,000,000 to produce. It's expected to air sometime in 2009, so it won't be out for awhile.
I'm really excited that he has another drama role :D Because I love to see him as much as I can~!!! But I'm kinda sad because I really thought he'd make a really good Tsukasa~ But now that he has the other role, I think it's less likely for him to be casted in the upcoming korean version of HYD :(

I actually think this is their best release so far. It actually sounds like something and not just different songs copied from other artists. It's the first time I listened to them and didn't think "This song sounds like *insert American artist's name here*," other than when I listened to Lies. I thought they finally sound like Big Bang. Overall, I found it very cheesy, especially Lady and Oh My Friend, but they have always been a cheesy group. :lol: They have been listening to J-pop though :lol: I thought the whole album was lined with Johnny's stuff, and the last track was like one of those typical Pop-rock anthems j-pop is full of. It was my first time listening to one of their releases without skipping any tracks, though I was tempted on a couple, but they eventually got me tapping my feet.
No I don't go through every track analyzing them, my brain does it automatically. >_>

5 fans injured while filming for Big Bang’s new MV
5 fans were injured during the filming for Big Bang’s new MV, and were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The filming took place at a site in WangSipRi station in Seoul SeongDongGoo on 8th October. Many fans were present for the filming of the MV to see the Big Bang members, 5 were injured when they tried to push their way nearer to the site , including one who injured her ankle - they were sent to the neighbourhood hospital for treatment.
It was said that the venue of the filming was crowded at that time, and only about 20 plus body guards were employed at the site without any other manpower from the police or paramedics employed on site, the accident happened.
It was fortunate the fans did not suffer from any major injuries

YG Entertainment president Yang Hyun Seok revealed the plans for idol group Big Bang for the rest of 2008.
He said on 14th October, “In October itself, Big Bang will be active in Japan. And then they will go back to Korea for their fans in November.”

The performance was pretty awesome though, I liked the mix of the different songs and Hyori's vocals gave everything a slightly different feel. Thought the kiss woulda worked better if he either kissed her a little longer, or acted less cocky before he gave her that peck. :lol:

I'm gonna say it was coz of the audio of the vid I watched (which was pretty bad) but I really didn't like the addition of Hyori, her voice sounded out of place :( Don't get me wrong, I love her & I love Big Bang, but it just sounded messy... Again, I'ma blame the audio so it probably was awesome :lol:
Totally disappointed by the kiss too... I wanted to feel envious of Hyori but it was too fast for me to care XD

Big Bang TOP’s 1st part appearance on SBS Family Outing has given the show a new highest viewership.
TNS Media Korea (a company which tabulates viewerships) reported that SBS Family Outing achieved viewership of 26.0% on 8th February when it was aired puting the show’s viewership at #1 position for the week.
This is a 3.0% point increase in viewership for the show from last week.
For the same week, ‘Happy Sunday’ has achieved 18.6% falling 1.9% point from last week. In just one week, the program had fallen below the 20% mark to stand at #2 position. Of ‘Happy Sunday’, ‘SaeBaKwe’ corner roped in 10.1% of the viewership while ‘We Got Married’ corner roped in 11.3% of the viewership. The ‘Gold Miss’ section roped in 9.4%.
Meanwhile, on this episode of Family Outing, TOP had appeared as a guest to the show. His simple and pure reactions to the show which were unseen when he performs on the stage as a rapper had been especially laugh-intriguing for the viewers. There was, in particular, one scene where he had been so afraid of catching an Angler fish and had resorted to hypnotising it to catch it.

Damn, I swear I'm not looking forward to the traffic in Korea. I mean, I've seen it in Philippines and its pretty bad there, but I wonder how come the Kpop stars have been in so many accidents recently. This time Big Bang's Daesung got hit up coming from a taping of Family Outing. Looks like the vehicle he was in skidded out of control from the water on the road from heavy rain, and bumped into another vehicle in front of it.
YG Entertainment expressed, "We have made contact but everything is still under investigation. But it's a relief that there were no casualties although it's believed that Daesung has injured his arm. His manager sustained leg injuries in the crash while Daesung's stylist has been transferred to a bigger hospital for treatment after severe bleeding. The car was pretty much smashed up after the crash."
According to YG Entertainment, "Big Bang's Daesung has suffered a nose fracture and this was the same part that he had injured when he was little. There's also some alignment problem with Daesung's spinal cord although that will clear up by itself in about 4 weeks time. Other that that, Daesung also suffered superficial injuries on his face and arms. His arm which was reported to be injured earlier on, was a non-issue after check-up."

I actually like this song- as the begining (like what was already heard in the teaser) had ended I started to feel a little dissapointed- but overall I really like this song and the mv!!
I find the beginning of the chorus the most memorable and the solo dance he did near the end really made me laguh XD
Though- I do wish the MV was full colour like the teaser was... but black and white also worked well

Korean idols Big Bang may be making a comeback to the local music scene in October or November, according to their agency YG Entertainment on Friday.
An official from YG told 10Asia over the phone, "There are plans for the boys to release a new album but it is tentative -- it will depend on the progress of the album."
The last full-length album that the group released in the country was "REMEMBER," which featured their title track "Red Sunset," a remake of veteran singer Lee Moon-sae’s song, two years ago.
The five-member boy band, discovered and trained by major talenthouse YG Entertainment, is known as one of the biggest names in the Korean pop industry. They have released various hits such as "Dirty Cash," "With U," "Lies" and "Haru Haru."
Each member has branched out into individual projects with T.O.P starring in the war epic "71 Into the Fire" alongside Hallyu star Kwon Sang-woo and Cha Seung-won as well as appearing on the small screen for KBS drama “I Am Sam” and releasing his first solo album in June.
Member Daesung was a regular on the weekend variety program "Family Outing Season 1" with top Korean MC Yoo Jae-suk, while G-Dragon, Taeyang and Seungri focused on their solo music careers releasing albums and songs that have fared well on numerous online and offline music charts.
The group also successfully crossed over to the Japanese pop market in June of last year and went on to winning several awards at the MTV World Stage Video Music Awards Japan in this May.
They took the stage at the Summer Sonic Festival 2010 featuring the biggest names in the music industry, performing their Japanese hits "How Gee," "Number 1," "Tell Me Goodbye," "Koe Wo Kikasete (Let Me Hear Your Voice)," "Gara Gara Go!!" and new tunes “Hands Up” and “Beautiful Hangover” which will be released on August 25.

So GD and TOP are releasing an album together; does anyone know what that has to say for BB comeback as a group? (If the rumours that spread about a comeback in Oct./Nov. was reeally because of GD&TOP plans, and not BB as a group, and if this will delay a possible BB comeback, etc.) GD and TOP are my fav. members, but I miss BB, I want them all back together, lol. :-P

Regarding Big Bang’s completely self-composed album, Yang Hyun Suk stated, “As it is Big Bang’s first comeback after a long hiatus, their new album will contain only songs with all five of the members. No solo tracks, no duets. This is Big Bang’s present to all of the fans that have been waiting for them. They’ve been working on this album for a long time and we’d like for everyone to anticipate it.”
Regarding the new unit group and Seungri’s comeback, he stated, “The songs contained in G-Dragon and T.O.P’s unit group album and Seungri’s comeback release are all songs that were once considered for Big Bang’s album. Once Big Bang decided on including only songs that featured all five of them, they decided to release the rest of the songs separately through a unit group and Seungri’s solo in December and January. As for G-Dragon and T.O.P, they already had many songs that they produced together so all they had to do was add a few more in order to complete an official album.”
Yang furthered the explanation behind G-Dragon and T.O.P’s unit group by revealing, “Since the unit group’s songs were originally meant for Big Bang’s new album, fans can consider the unit’s release as basically a Big Bang comeback. Due to this, Big Bang will be able to enjoy a longer promotion period. This is definitely for the fans that have waited for Big Bang through their long hiatus. Big Bang will be promoting in Korea this year for as long and as actively as possible.”

since its really hard to get etc, and the laws are strict. Having it in your system is considered pocession (i work in korea and we have to go through tests before employment) and its serious if u are caught with it in ur system. They said they let him off easy since hes a college student and he didnt get blacklisted off the main broadcasting channels due to doubel standards.
Dont get me wrong I really like big bang, but this is clearly double standards and not a good example

i feel like YG get alot of "exceptions" because they are them.
like if CL is found partying like crazy, they're like oh it's cool because she's CL.
and if GD states he smokes, it's all chill because he's GD.
but if other girl groups (non-2NE1) are caught partying hard, it's thought of as scandalous.
and if others are found to be smoking, like B2ST's Junhyung, alot of people criticize them strongly.
YGE has this air that as them, they have the liberty to do as they want just because they are them.

I know that this is an old topic.
I had a chat with my friend last year about smokin pot since she told me that she tried it once and it was good. She is not a smoker (so the first time she tried to smoke, she tried that weed ) but she's able to tell the difference between cigarettes and pot. I asked her how can i tell the difference between cigar and weed, and she just said that i would be able to tell the difference from the smell because it's so obvious and since i am my self (used to) smokes.
When i first read the news my reaction is 'boooo lame news'
crownJ get charged for smoking pot, and now GD. Smoking pot is not a big deal. Therefore, i am just neutral about this news. But when i read the next article on how "someone" offered him a cigar. and he "didn't know" that it was a weed. and the police found a trace in his hair a month after. even with all his reasoning, i still feel neutral about the issue. But when i read the comments from yg stan. oh god :banghead: can i just shot them on the spot? They sound like they want to prove that GD is an innocent angel and some are even saying that GD is a cool bad boy :shocked

New music video/song is pretty cool. Interesting that its set in NYC, and features a white girl as well. Big Bang keeps getting better and better imo, they don't just coast on their popularity, they're constantly trying to improve themselves, as are other YG acts. That being said... Taeyang needs to get rid of that bandana.

I've been wondering 'wtf were they thinking' about Big Bang's latest hairstyles. Well, my question has been answered and it's hilarious!:
G-Dragon, whose unbalanced hairstyle was at the center of much attention, replied that he drew his inspiration from seaweed. Dancing king Taeyang answered that he got his inspiration from a radish.
T.O.P commented that his electric blue hair was inspired by ice cream, while Daesung said that his platinum blond hair was inspired by a white horse. Seungri wrapped up the inspiration parade by saying that he got the inspiration for his short hairstyle from a chestnut.

Big Bang's been slowing releasing dates/locations for their World Tour on this facebook app thingy, which you can see once you "like" their Facebook page. Two days ago it was just the Japanese dates, last night they had Malaysia and the Phillippines listed. This morning Indonesia and Taiwan showed up. I'm keeping a really close eye on this page... hoping for a Texas date myself... though I really doubt it =(

BIGBANG will donate part of its profits from its ongoing world tour to UNICEF Korea.
Yang Min Suk, a YG Entertainment representative, and UNICEF Korea secretary-general Ryu Jong Soo signed on the agreement at the UNICEF Korea headquarters on June 14, that BIGBANG would donate part of the profits from their Alive Tour 2012 to UNICEF.
The donated proceeds from Alive Tour 2012 ticket sales will go towards UNICEF’s vaccination program. About 600,000 children are estimated to be able to receive vaccinations through this agreement. That means each ticket purchased being able to provide a vaccination for a child in Africa.
In addition, UNICEF and YG Entertainment will be sold special limited collaboration gifts at the concerts and profits from the sales will also go to UNICEF.
BIGBANG’s leader G-Dragon said, “With the love we’re receiving from different countries through this world tour, we wanted to return that love to all parts of the world and so we decided to support UNICEF. We hope that this donation will provide vaccinations for many children, so they can grow healthy without illnesses.”

I kid, I kid...I'm really interested in seeing what the reaction is like. There HAS TO BE a huge double standard for things like this. I would imagine people (fans) would just dismiss it and say it wasn't him or just claim they slept together and she's just trying to ruin his image. I've already seen a few [fangirl] reactions and they range from "SO HOT." to indignation towards the girl's character for being loose and/or "not being worth kissing". My man Seungri was just getting it in. Why she so mad? Must be her fault. As one person so eloquently put it: "Ungrateful bitch,she should have just enjoyed it."--a real quote with what I hope is a slight dose of troll.
Can you IMAGINE what the reactions would be like if it was a female in this situation? If a guy posted a picture and said "Man, I didn't even give her a towel :fap" :lol:. In all fairness, though, that's a double-standard that exists in practically every culture, but it's amusing to consider how the same people would react to similar situations with slight differences :P
Not that I think the girl here is entirely "innocent" or whatever, sex is just sex so nobody's gonna get condemned for that, but there's obvious malicious intent in putting this out there, and that's lame as hell. She participated too. I would imagine she was a bit of a groupie...what was she expecting, tender love and care? I don't consider this a big deal by any stretch, but considering the rather conservative nature of everything surrounding k-pop I guess it's a big deal? Hmmm maybe I'm misunderstanding some posts but I don't see how the reactions of fans to T-ara's "scandal" can be compared to those on this issue :? I do agree there's a double standard regarding sex scandals, there's no doubt. But as for T-ara's controversy, remember how disappointed we all felt when we 'found out' about the bullying? I think that's what exploded their mess, that people were so disappointed in how they openly seemed to bully Hwayoung. Yes, now we think differently because we have no reason to continue thinking the worst. But originally it was a huge blow to the image we have of them as good, kind human beings. In Seungri's case, it was just consensual sex with an unsatisfied woman (if it even happened, because all that the pic evidences is that he sleeps lol). His scandal doesn't involve any abuse to anyone and doesn't make him seem like a horrible person. Yes, fans who desire him will be jealous as hell, and some will disappointed that his idol image is tarnished. But fact is that Big Bang doesn't have the sweet boy image that other male groups have. They've had tons of scandals and they eventually successfully return to the top. Fans know of their past and maybe some current relationships and don't hold it against them unlike what happens with other male idols. I have no idea how this one will turn out, but if the comments I've seen around are any indication, fans aren't really super bothered by this. Most posts defend that he's a human being with a right to a sex life and who didn't harm anyone, which is a fact, since the woman basically just complained that he wasn't a sweet lover, oh well LOL.

I was just trolling but I was basically emphasizing the moving on from one scandal to the next scandal. Seungri's the newest one while T-ara's was last month and don't forget before that was the Nickhun DUI. And while all 3 are very different there seems to be a double standard as to peoples' reactions to them. Nickhun's probably has the most legal issues that could've resulted in jailtime or community service yet his scandal was seemingly shrugged off. T-ara's bullying, while very disappointing was never confirmed nor denied so we are left to believe what we want to believe, and for most a lot believe the worst. Now Seungri's case, while there was no crime involved, there are some photographic "evidence" to show that there was some involvement and all the details (no matter how TMI) are up to us whether to believe. Yet, despite that everyone seems to shrug this off as well. So yeah...I hope everything turns out ok, it sucks that it happen but people will keep talking about it (or dismiss it) until the next scandal comes up.

Yeah, I think any T-ara references were probably due to the fact that they were the current big scandal in Kpop, and seeing how we're fans of T-ara, we're optimistic about being able to hand off the negative attention to a different group :lol:
Any other references, to my understanding, were just general observations about the slight hypocrisy involved when people who so easily assumed the worst for the T-ara (and continued to assume the worst even as the story developed) would be quick to dismiss Seungri's scandal primarily because they are fans. I'm sure there are people out there who accused T-ara supporters of believing everything the company says and being delusional who will swear by the first excuse they hear for this scandal and conclude that there is no clear evidence of wrongdoing, so there is no scandal and it's one big [edit: apparently my phone ate this part of my sentence while I was typing and looking at it today, I have no idea what I was going to say here...? :lol:].
There are many who adopted a "guilty unless proven innocent" mentality with T-ara who will be quick to consider Seungri "innocent until proven guilty" and deny everything. Of course, it's a hard case for me to argue, considering that I myself don't think he did anything particularly WRONG, and the two cases are indeed different, but I'm more so just making observations on people's reactions and reasoning.

Yeah, k-pop sure has a variety of scandals :lol: All the japanese idol scandals I remember had to do only with dating or smoking. That was it. K-pop scandals are so much more complicated it seems XD
I too hope, for the sake of all you dedicated T-ara fans, that their scandal disappears soon enough if they truly are not bullies and all that. No one deserves to have their hard work go to waste just for petty misunderstandings.
I'm not surprised at all that Nichkhun's case was sorta shrugged off by fans, considering that it was an accident and he then disappeared from the public eye to minimize damage lol And as unfair as it may be, I bet the T-ara scandal helped take attention away from him. But all in all, I gotta go back to the same point as in Seungri's case, that in the eyes of fans their "scandals" may not be the type of thing that completely changes your image of the person. Yeah, Nichkhun was irresponsible for drinking and driving. But it doesn't make him suddenly seem like this evil person that fooled us all with his innocent image. It's just unfortunate that he acted so stupidly that night and he'll have to pay the legal consequences for that. Seungri was also stupid knowing the possible consequences of his actions. But again, doing stuff with a girl or not being sweet in bed doesn't indicate he's a bad person nor necessarily change the image BB fans had of him. I think the T-ara scandal got out of control, compared to all others, because (1) the tweets made by themselves made them look like bitches (even if it was a misunderstanding, you know that's how it looked), (2) Hwayoung's tweets also made it look like she was indeed a victim and (3) CCM's lies and countless idiotic actions. It might have all been a HUGE misunderstanding, but you know it had such an impact on their image that even some of you guys were thinking you may not be able to support them anymore. Luckily, things started looking better and the hope and faith in them was renewed for you all, but unfortunately not for everyone out there. But yeah, all in all, the T-ara thing is such a complicated emotional issue >_< I hope the early come back works out well for them, but i wonder if waiting would've been better, to give a chance for ppl to forget about the issue. Well, hopefully Seungri will be for T-ara what T-ara was for Nichkhun XD

The thing is, a lot of the people still hating on T-ara are not/never were fans. Initially, like you said, T-ara fans were probably worried that the group members were not the kind of people we thought they were. If anyone was conflicted with who to believe, it was probably because both sides (Hwayoung vs the others) were part of the same group that we loved. It's usually easier to empathize with the victim, so a lot of fans not only felt negatively towards T-ara, but more importantly they felt bad for Hwayoung. Eventually, though, because we are fans, we try to assume the best and are likely fickle as hell when it comes to being convinced they did no wrong. Non-fans though, they don't care. They won't understand why we'd assume they were innocent and they would still view everything negatively.
I completely understand what you're saying though, I know enough about Big Bang to know this isn't some kind of huge 180 degree shift in what people thought Seungri was like XD. What I'm saying, though, is that basically haters gonna hate. The same way T-ara fans might say "actually they seemed pretty close when you watch more footage, I don't think Hwayoung was bullied" and non-fans will say "YEAH RIGHT BULLSHIT THEY'RE ALL BITCHES", Big Bang fans will defend their group--and regardless of whether or not it's actually a huge departure from what people thought they were like, people are either denying it or defending it, because others that don't know Big Bang or don't care are going to use this to try to bring them down. For Big Bang fans it's not a big deal, just like how for T-ara fans the bullying scandal is no longer a big deal. It's not really a comparison of the two scandals or the kind of damage the scandal does to the group, it's more just upset T-ara fans assuming some Big Bang fans were condemning T-ara and going "OH, So when YOUR group is in a problem you just brush it off and say that's just what they're like or that it's a lie and not a big deal, but when we try to defend T-ara you say we're delusional, gullible, and support bitches?!" Because, let's not forget, the primary purpose of any group affiliation in kpop is to shit on every other group to defend the honor of your own :lol:
That said, this scandal doesn't seem like a big deal at all and I wouldn't be surprised if we've heard the last of it and no one even cares anymore :lol: It'd probably take more than a guy having sex (OH GOD NO ANYTHING BUT THAT!) to get all that negative attention away from T-ara XD

^ LOL with all that, at least it makes the situation seem more funny than gross, as I originally saw it when I read the nasty unwanted details. I'm so happy I'm not him, I mean, even his family will know about this. Pictures really overemphasize things and makes it seem more of a big deal than it probably is... In the pics they make you think he's "canoodling" "like lovers", as they put it in the sensationalist article. But to me the video just looks like a bunch of friends hanging out, partying, and probably drinking, which often causes girls to become all lovey dovey with their male friends lol The video just shows the girl looking tipsy and getting all cuddly with him. That doesn't really say much to me as a lot of people act like that after a night out partying lol

YG Entertainment has released an official statement regarding Big Bang‘s Seungri and his relationship to Anna Kubo, who he was recently photographed with in Hong Kong.
The agency stated: “It’s not a scandal,” dismissing rumors of a relationship between Seungri and the Japanese model and actress. The two ‘The Files of Young Kindaichi: Hong Kong Kowloon Treasure Murder Case‘ co-stars were seen acting intimate at a gathering after a late-night filming session for the Japanese drama.
There are now reports saying that Anna Kubo kissed Seungri when he had his head turned, and that the Big Bang member was simply sending off the drunk actress in a taxi.
YG further stated, “Nothing amounting to a scandal has occurred.”
