Title: Rediscovering H!P songs
Post by: shirenuファクトリー on September 22, 2009, 10:39:43 AM
HAY GUYSE

Got any H!P songs that you've suddenly started liking years after you've first heard them?
One day you just listen to them and go like "hey, this is actually quite a fun song  "

I think I've got Egg concerts to thank for making me like certain songs more that I never really noticed before. The setlists are so random :D For example:
Aya Matsuura - I KNOW (I love doing the 'OH YEAH' arm movements! Awesome live song)
Maki Goto - Te wo Nigitte Arukitai (suddenly I find it really cute and fun!)

I also remember that I once fell in love with ZYX - Shiroi Tokyo after I saw it as one of the opening songs at a H!P concert. Same thing with Melon Kinenbi's This is Unmei XD

As much as I love 3 of the first 4 songs on Maki's second album, I never listened to it much. A few days ago I took it with me when I went out and enjoyed, especially "Scramble". I did kinda like it before, but I liked it a lot more when I listened to it recently.

^ COOL!

After watching the June H!P Egg concert, I have a new found love for the Country Musume classic "Hajimete no Happy Birthday"!

Late last night when my library was on random, "The Peace!" came on and I was surprised I still knew most of the lyrics. I ended up listening to the rest of the album. It was my favorite album before, but I forgot just how much I enjoy listening to it.

Got another one to add. I listened to "Aisha Loan de" once and didn't like it. I was listening to the 3rd album in the shower just now and liked it this time around. I don't what it was I didn't like, but ever since that time I have avoided the song.

^Most of the 3rd-Love Paradise- album was like that for me. I liked the hits, but a lot of the other songs I didn't care for until, one day, they just clicked. I still think the spoken-word stuff is pretty awful, but I like the actual songs much more than I did at first.

Another one for me is "Do It! Now." For the longest time I'd hear the intro and immediately skip it. The one day I decided to listen all the way through, and now I love it.

Not so much the discovering the songs as the arrangements.
Damn, there's just so much stuff going on in Mikan, all designed to be uplifting. Crazy bass line, glissandos on different instruments all over the place, etc.
The Kirarin songs are also amazing when it comes to arrangements. I still almost get chills when I hear Happy Happy Sunday's instrumental.

...glissandos...
As my eyes saw that when I was scolling down, I took it as "glass dildos."

Maki Goto - Like a Game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtzfla-UOng&feature=related#normal)

Please, please, please let this get performed at an H!P concert in the future. It's too epic not to! For that matter, I'm on a "rediscover Goto's music" kick right now, and there's so much stuff right in line with the EmoMusume image. Use that stuff!

Ah I used to think Like A Game was the hottest stuff ever! I agree, I wish it will be used again in concert. It's a fierce song!!

What I find funny sometimes is that, for how much I WISH is such an upbeat song but when sung at the graduations it always is a serious moment.  Then, reading the translation i scratch my head, and say to myself, it shouldn't be sad at all but i always come to the point of tearing up.

Damn graduations...

Freaking everything in the Buono Hybrid Punch concert!  :panic: Kpop has been swallowing my life lately, but I'm appreciating more and more the good ol' Jpop melodies since Kpop tends to beat its hooks to death and forget what a good chord progression can do for ya.

Also The Greatest H!P B-Side evar.

Sure the new MM version has Takagaki belting and Junlin's sultry voices rock, but I fell in love with this performance as soon as I saw it and will be trying to convert someone to H!Pism with it soon. :3

^ That song reminds me of Canary Club's Kappore EE Janai Ka  ...Just because both are disco

^  XD That reminded me of an aerobics class. "And up, and down, and up, and down, and left, and right."  It also reminded me of that disco SweetS song.

Trying to convert a SNSD fan to H!Pism is really making me rediscover so many songs because I have to try and view them from a non-fan's perspective. Except I just end up appreciating all of the little details about each perf even more, the kind of details a non-fan wouldn't notice.  It looks like it'll be variety clips that'll do the trick after all because this person don't much like Jpop even though she still likes SNSD's bubblegum offerings?  :sweatdrop: Whatever.

The latest rediscovered goodnes:

Oh my fuck, Berryz did Show! Show! Show! before SNSD even debuted and years before Showx3 was even conceived of as a song.  XD

Berryz Koubou 2007 Sakura Mankai ~Part 9~ Sakura wa Rakusa (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbSTKGnSaM0#)

I started off as a Berryz fan and now I'm starting to remember why I loved them so much from the start. Their discography is so damn solid up through 2008. And I don't think I've ever been fully disappointed by a Berryz concert, whereas I've been pretty meh to C-ute's despite their tap-dancing broom throwing awesomeness.

And continuing with the SNSD-H!P comparison, Yuujou Junjou oh Seishun kicks Himnae to the curb. :3

I can't really remember this happening recently-- Except maybe today my girlfriend started half singing half saying "DA. KI. SHI. ME. TE. DAKISHIMETEEEEEH~~" in a deep jokey voice and was doing some of the arm movements-- and it brought back memories of last year when it became my favourite song for a while > w <

And with some oldish songs (old compared to when I started listening to them): Mr. Moonlight, The PEACE, Shabondama, etc- They'll remind me of my time falling for Yossie and Hello!Project... and with the 3 that I named- I copied out the lyrics in Hiragana to practice writing and learning the letters > w <;; so I have most of the lyrics burned into my mind when I hear them!! <3

Chokotto Love & La La La Shiawase no Uta.
Both were far too saccharine for me when I heard them before.  But, like all those drinkers of diet soda say... you can get used to the oversweet taste, if you give it a chance!

First time I heard Sakuragumi's "Hare Ame Nochi Suki" I was largely unimpressed. It was a little too soft to really grab me right away and didn't have the foreign mystique that "Sakura Mankai" has (which was the first song I ever heard from the Sakura/Otome splinter groups). But the other day I listened to kuro's H!P Music Blox radio show and he played the Natsumi Abe solo version of the song, and for some reason I was really digging it. Today I looked up the original on YouTube and just played it over and over again. The vocal melody and percussive rhythms of the chorus just clicked with me, as did the bass, piano and guitars through the whole song, especially in the intro/outro and the post-chorus breakdowns. Plus it's pretty cool to see the two Ais carry a song featuring so many other people on it.

This "acoustic" remix is pretty cool too (though I still prefer the original):
[MM Remix] Hare Ame Nochi Suki (Acoustic Guitar Mix) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxH7k8ftKWU#)

There's also a "rock remix" out there but I didn't like it at all. :P

^ Haha XD
I'm the opposite~
Back in the day when I first started listening to jpop (which by pure coincidence only consisted of H!P but it took me a while to figure out I was seeing the same faces in different groups :lol:;; ) I heard the Rock remix of Hare Ame Nochi Suki and absolutely loved it- especially Yossie being in it and the FAST dance.... I was really disapointed when I downloaded it only to find it was a balad and when I asked about the rock version on forums they told me it was unnoficial and not on a CD OAO;;

Hare Ame Nochi Suki (Rock version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2ehLFjKR8E#)

Went and looked that up ; u ;
brought back memories for me~

Same with Soku Dakishimete Shura ;   u   ; ,  never got round to tracking that down- It was one of my favourites by c-ute but for some reason the song made me uneasy OAO LOL - It might of been due to feeling very loyal to berryz koubou and not wanting to move onto what I concidered at the time to be their rivals ;  3 ;

I loved Karate Man's song the first time I heard it on Rhythm Tengoku, both the original and Ayaka's versions, but only today did I find the Canary Club lives of it. Does that count as rediscovery?

I actually planned on posting this two years ago during the 2010 Christmas season but got distracted!

So yeah, Aya Matsuura's "100kai no Kiss"...
Aya Matsuura 松浦 亜弥 - 100 Kai No KISS / 2001-11 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDNraEEMyH0#ws)

At this point, I have no idea why I passed on it when I first heard it...all I know is that it didn't really do anything for me initially. But the mellow funky rhythm and sweet holiday/romance-flavored melody eventually won me over and stands as one of my favorite Ayaya songs.

I can't say I'm really "rediscovering" them -- as I didn't really pay attention to them the first time 'round -- but lately I've been playing C-ute's "Kiss me Aishiteru" and "Forever Love" on near-endless repeat, along with "Ai no Dangan" by Berryz.

One song that I am rediscovering, though, is "Kimi wa Jitensha Watashi wa Densha de Kitaku." It was the first song that sort of made me notice C-ute, but that was when they did the "30 videos in 30 days" gimmick, so I got tired of the song really quickly. Now that over a year has passed, I can go back to it now and appreciate it more. :)

I've recently gained new love for "Kono chikyuu no heiwa wo honki de negatterun da yo" because I realized how much fun it would be to sing at karaoke >_< (A valid reason to start thinking of a song differently imo)

Also, I was reading some advice for trying to get in the right mood before a job interview (haha) and one of them was to think of an uplifting song which would help with getting all ^_^, and so the first song I intuitively started to hum was... Seishun Collection o-o The chorus... This song has not been a favourite for me, but this moment I realized that the song does have its perks... It's not the most ground-breaking piece of music, no, but it is uplifting in a simple, lovely way. So yes  Now I have a song to think of when all hope feels lost. HA HA

Also, the other day I was listening to all my music on shuffle and bumped into Ongaku Gatas "Koi uranai doori ni wa naranai wa". This song I loved the moment I first heard it, but then sort of forgot about it because it's never performed anymore. SO... Can we please get like, a 9ki performance of this song?? I'd love to hear them putting all their might into it. It's a really cool song.
