Nogizaka46 chooses first 36 members, concerts to begin this year
Nogizaka46, the “official rival group” to AKB48, has chosen its first 36 members. The final round of auditions were held over the weekend of August 20-21 at Sony Music Entertainment’s Nogizaka Building, with 56 girls in the running for the 36 spots.
Nogizaka46 was created by AKB48′s producer Akimoto Yasushi, in collaboration with Sony Music Entertainment. Akimoto has billed the group as a rival to the popular AKB48, and the number 46 was chosen with the meaning of “Even with fewer members than AKB48, we won’t lose.”
A total of 38,934 young women around the country applied for the Nogizaka46 auditions. Out of the 56 remaining in the final round, Akimoto selected a group of 36, with an average age of just over 16 years old. Akimoto also announced the 16 provisional “senbatsu” members, which came as a surprise to the girls as well.

Akimoto also revealed that the group will begin holding concerts before the end of this year. The concerts will have a first half and a second half, separated by a break. During the break, the audience will vote on which members will perform during the second half. Akimoto commented that it will “feel like holding a senbatsu election every day.”
As previously announced, the group will also have their own variety show on television starting in October.

why pimpin the rivals inside the akb headquarters? ... anyways having the same producing both groups seems like a great piece of publicity

To be perfectly honest?
They kinda look like tarento rejects. Sort of like how AKB48 was before, except more polished, but not polished enough. I'm not really relishing the opportunity to learn about more girls, but we'll see how it is. The center kinda looks like Mariyannu.

Nogizaka46 variety show to start in October
On Monday, the official website of idol group Nogizaka46 revealed some details about their variety show, which will begin airing next month. The show will be titled “Nogizakatte, Doko?” (“Where’s Nogizaka?”) and will be broadcast on the 6 main stations of the TX Network: TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Setouchi, TV Hokkaido, and TVQ Kyushu Hoso.
The show is said to focus on showcasing the personalities and strengths of the group’s members, including singing, dancing, acting, and intense effort.
Episodes will air weekly on Mondays at midnight, starting on October 2nd.
Nogizaka46 was officially formed last month by Akimoto Yasushi and Sony Music Entertainment as the “official rival group of AKB48.” The group currently consists of 36 members.

AKB48's 'Rival' Idol Group Nogizaka46 Sings Magi Ending

Another adaptation of Arabian Nights-inspired manga, in addition to TV anime, to be revealed
This year's 41st issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is announcing on Wednesday that Nogizaka46, AKB48's "official rival" idol group, will perform the ending theme song for the Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. anime. The visual-kei rock band SID (Black Butler, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) had previously revealed that it will contribute the opening theme song "V.I.P."
AKB48's own producer Yasushi Akimoto created Nogizaka46 with Sony Music Entertainment last year. The group is named after Sony Music Entertainment's Nogizaka Building, the site of the group's final audition. The "46" in the name represents the group's rivalry with AKB48, along with the motto: "Even with fewer members than AKB48, we won't lose."
The Weekly Shonen Sunday issue is also presenting a new piece of key visual art for the anime, as well as a teaser that the next issue will announce another adaptation of Shinobu Ohtaka's original manga. The issue will also feature character designs of the main and supporting cast alongside staff comments regarding each character.
The manga re-imagines tales from the classic story One Thousand and One Nights (also known as Arabian Nights). Shinobu Ohtaka, the creator of Sumomomo Momomo, has been serializing the manga since 2009, and Shogakukan is publishing the 14th compiled book volume this month.
Director Koji Masunari (Read or Die, Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW) is helming the anime adaptation at A-1 Pictures. Toshifumi Akai (Kokoro Connect, Sound of the Sky) is designing the characters and Hiroyuki Yoshino (Accel World, Guilty Crown, My-HiME) is handling the scripts. Shiro Sagisu (Evangelion, Bleach) is scoring the soundtrack.
This 90th anniversary project from Shogakukan will premiere on October 7 and run every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. on MBS, TBS, and their network of affiliates.

^Yeah, the episodes from this season usually included Maeda Ami, Oota Aika, Sato Sumire and/or Miyazaki Miho.
Topics have a very wide range, including anime, fashion, English language lessons, etc. etc.
Sadly the show never really to make in into my weekly rotation, but it's cool to see Mikapon and N46 getting some more exposure again.

Yup, it's mainly centered on subjects affecting/interesting teenagers, so subjects can be pretty broad.
Social topics, current trends, relationships with family/friends. And they do a lot of top ten ranking polls. :nervous
They sometimes also get members to join some outlandish competitions. Like a recent oshiri-sumo championship. :lol:

Nogizaka46 to hold their first independent live in Tokyo
It’s been revealed that Nogizaka46 will be holding a one-man live on December 27th at Zepp Tokyo.

It’s been revealed that Nogizaka46 will be recruiting 2nd generation members!
Nogizaka46 is currently made up of 33 members who passed the 1st generation audition back in August of 2011. The 2nd generation members who pass the upcoming audition will start their activities as research students and will become official members according to the result of their lessons.
To qualify, applicants must be a female from 13-years-old to 22-years-old as of March 31, 2013. Applicants may apply by mail or web until January 15th. More details can be found on Nogizaka46’s official website.

Regarding Yubi Bouenkyou, it is a coupling song for their latest single, Seifuku no Mannequin (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=33959.0).
It is available in all versions, which include A, B, C, regular, & Anime edition. Yubi Bouenkyou is also the ending theme for an anime called Magi, hence the existence of the Anime edition.
btw, my initial interest in Nogizaka was also raised by Minami. Interesting to see so many with common taste! :lol:

Look at these pics now, I am still really intrigued at how Nogizaka's three members most popular members (responsible for 66.6% of total handshake blocks sold!) happens to be around the same age. Maiyan & Sayurin are only born exactly one week apart too! Misamisa is really popular also, & its a shame she always shafted despite being more popular than many senbatsu regular.

Nogizaka Romance DVD sets will be on sale! The way SME is going to sell it is quite peculiar tho.
From my understanding of it, the DVD sets will be on sale during the handshake events. Each set will have 5 DVDs, each DVD will have one episode! Each episode is roughly five minutes btw. Additionally, it seems like the episodes that will be contained in each set is going to be random!!! There are a total of 102 episodes available also, with the two episodes featuring graduate Iwase Yumiko not included. Each person is allowed to purchase a maximum of 5 sets. Each set will cost ¥ 1,500 including tax.

So what do you think of this sale format? Personally I don't like how each DVD contain only one episode. The price is not really expensive to be fair tho. However, the thing I don't understand is the random episodes per set decision. It will make it that much harder to collect the episodes one desire or to complete the set, even if there are fans trading with each other. Once again to be fair I guess its make some sense to do it this way if its only going to be sold at handshake events. All in all tho I am not a fan of this selling format.

Hashimoto Nanami will be playing the female lead in upcoming night time drama Bad Boys J!!!
Nanamin will be playing 由本久美, reported the girlfriend of the protagonist in the manga original. Nakajima Kento (中島健人) from Sezy Zone will be the male lead.
Additionally, several more Nogizaka members will also play roles in this drama! These members include Matsumura Sayuri, Akimoto Manatsu, Ito Marika, Ito Nene, Sakurai Reika, Takayama Kazumi, Wakatsuki Yumi, & Noujou Ami. Additionally, Itano Tomomi will play a role in this drama too!

Looking back, "official model" seems to be a better translation of the word "専属" instead of "exclusive model." Official captures the meaning better, since based on what I know, being chosen to be an official model is very significant, it means you are deems worthy to be a face of a magazine. Whether this will be exclusivity I can't be exactly sure, but Mariko is also an official model for a magazine, & I don't think her magazine appearance are restricted due to it. I might be wrong tho.

Directly translating the title, it would mean "The world's loneliest lover", very interesting to see who will sing it!

Starting April 8t, Nanamin will be featured as a regular in a new segment on NTV's morning program, ZIP!.
Nanamin's new segment, Senryū Girl, will be broadcast 6:20 in the morning, Monday to Friday. Senryū Girl will be about the everyday happening of working salary women, with Nanamin playing a role of an OL (Office Lady), introducing the audience to the variety of things that happen at work. The featured actor/actresses may alter for each different day, with Nanamin currently slotted for April the 8th (Monday), 10th (Wednesday), & 12th (Friday).

As a morning show, I do believe it is situated at a better time slot than Maiyan's programs. Also, as many fandoms relies on morning news programs for info on their respective groups/idols/musicians, so I do believe this offer better exposure too! All in all a great opportunity for Nanamin!

The Megashaki official site (http://megashaki.housefoods.jp/giganogizaka/) have been updated with a new produce called Gigashaki! As you can see above, the top trio of Maiyan, Sayurin, & Nanamin are presented in the commercial for Gigashaki (which is a segment after the original Megashaki commercial)!
In addition to the actual commercial, the official site also uploaded three videos of the top trio discussing various topics, & two videos where they gone around the commercial's shooting studio getting people to drink Gigashaki lol. Of interest is two of the 3 discussion videos, where they talked about other Ngzk members! So below here is a a summary translation for those two particular videos! \(^o^)/

For the first discussion, the top trio were invited to discuss who should be Miss Gigashaki~ \(^o^)/
Maiyan started off by suggesting Ikoma, saying how she always seems very genki (energetic). I think they talked about her hair being messy so it fit the image too? This one I'm not sure sadly lol.
Nanamin next suggested Maimai~ According to Nanamin, Maimai is a very rigorous person, & that for whatever activities she will always be up one & a half hours before the it. By the time of the activity Maimai is fully prepared. To this Sayurin exclaimed that she thinks being up half an hour before the event is more than enough, & was rather surprised that Maimai prepare one & a half hour in advance. Considering how well-prepared Maimai always is for anything, Nanamin thinks she is a candidate with the appropriate image to be Miss Gigashaki!
Lastly Sayurin suggested that Hinapyon for Miss Gigashaki! For those of you that are unaware, Hinapyon refers to Kawago Hina, she have never made it to senbatsu thus far. I'll talk more about this in the after-thoughts.
Anyways, Hinapyon is truly amazingu! Despite being only 16 y.o., they say Hinapyon is very reliable; she have very good temper & don't get emotional, no matter what the circumstances are. The three also agree that Hinapyon is really good at expressing herself (think MC), & say how she will never refuse being asked out by any members. Also, according to Nanamin, she only sleeps two hours per day (!?), but does not show any signs of being tired or anything & is otherwise completely normal! This last point was very surprising to Maiyan btw lol. All in all, the three showered Hinapyon with praise, saying how she is very mature for her young age!
With all that being said (the talked about Hinapyon for over a good half of the video methink), the top trio unanimously agree that Hinapyon should be Miss Gigashaki! After the decision was made, Sayurin also commented on how even the Gigashaki bottle look somewhat like Hinapyon too lol. They also talked a bit about Hinapyon's magic (she is referred to as Mahou Shoujo, Magic Girl), but specifically what they said here I do not know lol. Anyways with all that concluded the three proceeded to call Hinapyon on phone to congratulate her on being selected Miss Gigashaki~ \(^o^)/

For the third video, the top trio discussed who they think most need to drink Gigashaki!
Nanamin started off by suggesting Ikuchan, saying how she always seems very tired when attending lessons (by lessons she was most likely referring to Ngzk's singing & dancing lessons.) Nanamin said while Ikuchan attended lessons, she also have to tend to her busy schooling (& let us not forget her piano lessons), so that Nanamin feels that Ikuchan really need to take a sip.
Sayurin followed up by suggesting Hinachima. This refers to Higuchi Hina btw, not Kawago. Sayurin sure like to recommend members named Hina lol. Hinachima have unfortunately yet to enter senbatsu too, like Hinapyon.
Hinachima is pretty much like Ikuchan according to Sayurin. She attends to every lessons, but also have schooling to mind too. She always look very tired like Ikuchan, & Nanamin commented on how they often see the two working on their homework in the resting area.
Lastly Maiyan suggested that Hoshimina should take a sip (Sayurin was like "nante nante nante nanate?", meaning "why?" x4 lol), but for very different reasons. In contrast to the above two being exhausted & therefore should take a sip, Maiyan wants Minami to drink Gigashaki because she want to see her put more effort into working lol. Compared to the above-mentioned two, the top trio realized they never saw her working on her homework. They also noted how she often have time to eat snacks at night, but yet failed to update her blog regularly. All in all, despite being very kawaii, the three agree they want to see a harder-working Minami & proclaimed her the member most needing to drink Gigashaki~
Some personal thoughts~
Hinapyon seemed very capable of expressing herself in what little that was seen of her, most notably from her NogiKoko appearance where she MC-ed while riding on a water-roller-coaster thingy. Her most recent appearance in the latest Doko episode (ep.92, 2013.07.14) also garnered a lot of praise by Japanese fans, complimenting her for being interesting & memorable. All things considered maybe she have leadership potential if not for her young age lol. Methink she have a lot of untapped potential.
That being said I'm sure many unders have untapped potential too, Hinachima being another for examples. Hopefully they can get their chance at senbatsu very soon. It is also interesting to note that for both discussions Sayurin nominated a regular-under for the questions. This might not mean much, but it might mean Sayurin have good relationships, or at least cares for, those regular-unders. I don't know about you, but I'm glad to have noticed this. ^___^

Ikoma Rina and Shiraishi Mai (Nogizaka46) will be starring in the movie Bad Boys J.

The film is a sequel of the drama of the same title which was aired between April and June on NTV (日本テレビ). Nogizaka46 members Hashimoto Nanami, Matsumura Sayuri, Akimoto Manatsu, Ito Marika, Ito Nene, and AKB48′s Itano Tomomi appeared in the drama.
Shiraishi Mai is going to play the role of the girlfriend of Shigeoka Daiki (Johnny’s Jr).
Ikoma Rina, who made a surprise appearance in the last episode of the series, will play a part-time employee falling in love with Iwamoto Hikaru (Snow Man).
Bad Boys J will be released in theaters on November 9 in Japan.

Senpuuki was either not performed or cut off, either way a bit sad. But still a great performance nonetheless! Someone yelled "Yukina doko?!" after the girls were leaving before the encore lol. I was surprised by how the it seems like most of the audience know the Nogizaka no Uta choreographer! I know its on their official site, but still surprised at the amount of ppl that seems to know it. Very enjoyable I must say! I love Kodoku na Lover's choreo! Have to say this again, I'm so happy Minami Sasuga is gone & Warner is Ngzk's new choreographer~ everyone get a chance to move to the front too! ^_^

Nogizaka46 has been appointed as the executive committee of 'Rakuten Super SALE'.
Nogizaka46 was a guest participant in 'Rakuten Group Day Customer Appreciation 2013' during the 'Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles vs. Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters' game on July 9. They attracted attention for their performance of "Girl's Rule" and Shiraishi Mai's opening pitch.

Nogizaka46 to release their 1st photo book
Nogizaka46 will be releasing their 1st photo book 'Nogizaka Ha' on October 22.
For this photo book, 32 of Nogizaka46's 1st generation members visited a seaside school in Chiba. They challenged themselves to things like milking cows at a ranch and making curry in the outdoors. It also features photos of the girls getting out of bed and at the hot springs as well as their very first swimsuit photos.
Nogizaka46 producer Akimoto Yasushi commented, "It will become an important photo book to show the beginning of Nogizaka46." Member Shiraishi Mai said, "I think the highlight of this photo book is that it features a lot of the member's natural expressions." Matsumura Sayuri added, "In the beginning, we were very embarrassed during our first swim shoot, but as we played together, it became fun. In the end, we were able to relax."

Seems like Nogizaka is really all the rage in Japan right now. Was in Tokyo recently and there were posters of em everywhere for their new single. I actually bought it while I was there, not having heard it before, but when I got home and popped it in my stereo I realized it was the song that was playing everywhere in stores, cafes and such. Only competition being that song from Frozen.

本日4月13日、千葉・幕張メッセにて乃木坂46の8thシングル「気づいたら片想い」発売記念全国握手会イベントが開催された。
先週4月5日の京都に続いて実施された本日のイベントには約1万2000人ものファンが集まり、最新シングル「気づいたら片想い」の大ヒットをメンバーと一緒にお祝いした。ミニライブはまず「気づいたら片想い」からスタート。フロアは色とりどりのペンライトで埋め尽くされ、オープニングから会場内は熱気に包まれる。続いてアンダーメンバーが「生まれたままで」を披露し、観客の盛り上がりを加速させた。
2曲終えたところでメンバーがステージに集まり、ファンに挨拶。キャプテンの桜井玲香は大勢の観客を前に「すごい人でビックリしています。会場が毎回大きくなっていてお客さんも増えていて。今日は今までで一番多い気がします。本当にありがとうございます」と感想を述べた。また本日は握手会終了後にアンダーメンバーによるライブが予定されていることに触れ、斉藤優里が「さっきまでずっと立ち位置の確認をしてました」、伊藤万理華が「こんなにたくさんお客さんがいるなら、ライブにもいっぱい来てほしいと思います」とそれぞれライブの意気込みを口にした。
そしてステージには白石麻衣と橋本奈々未が残り、ユニット曲「孤独兄弟」をパフォーマンス。さらに生田絵梨花をはじめとするメンバーが「ダンケシェーン」で会場の熱気をヒートアップさせ、アリーナライブさながらの盛り上がりを見せる。ミニライブの合間には研究生9名がファンに挨拶し、それぞれ「握手会のレーンで待ってます！」とアピールした。研究生と入れ替わるように選抜メンバーがステージに再登場すると、桜井が4月11日オンエアのテレビ朝日系「ミュージックステーション」に初出演した話題をメンバーに振る。西野七瀬は「いつもテレビの前で観てた番組だったので、いつか出たいなとはみんなで思っていて。今回出ることができてすごくうれしかったし、生放送やしめちゃくちゃ緊張もしたんですけど、皆さんがテレビの前で見守ってくださってるかなっていう気持ちで出し切ることもできました。次のシングルのときも出れるようにがんばらなくちゃなって思いました。本当に記念になりました」とコメント。松村沙友理は「みんなーっ、タモリさんとしゃべったよーっ！」と観客を煽ってから、「MCの部分は残念ながら松村の大食いの話だったんですけども、『乃木坂は大食いの子がおるんやね』っていうイメージを持ってくれたら……って、それあかんな？（笑）」と話して観客の笑いを誘った。
ミニライブもいよいよ終盤に。「吐息のメソッド」「ロマンスのスタート」の2曲でライブは終了するかに見えたが、最後に桜井が「ここで皆さんにちょっとサプライズというか。今日はある方が来てくださっています！ 今後私たちと一緒に乃木坂46として活動していくことになりました、松井玲奈さんです！」と言ってSKE48と乃木坂46を兼任することになった“交換留学生”の松井玲奈がステージに登場。乃木坂46のメンバーと同じ衣装を身にまとった松井は、「皆さん、はじめまして。こうしてご挨拶することが遅れてしまって本当に申し訳ないなって気持ちだったんですけど、今日は裏でずっとメンバーのライブする姿を見ていて、すごくファンの方々が熱い応援をしているなっていうのを感じて、本当に今上り調子でグイグイ上に向かっている乃木坂に私が入ることで何かプラスになることがあったらいいなっていう。今まで乃木坂のメンバーやファンの皆さんが作り上げてきたものを壊すことなく、一緒にがんばっていくことができたらいいなと考えています」と乃木坂46のファンに向けて所信表明をした。さらに「そしてですね、もうすぐ行われる『16人のプリンシパル』のほうに私も挑戦させていただけたらうれしいなと思っています。どの程度一緒にやることができるかまだわからないんですけども、乃木坂に参加するということは『16人のプリンシパル』にも出演するべきと私も考えているので、出演した際にはぜひ応援よろしくお願いします！」と、5月30日から東京・赤坂ACTシアターでスタートする乃木坂46の劇場公演第3弾「16人のプリンシパル trois（トロワ）」に参加することもあわせて発表された。
松井が挨拶を終えると会場はファンの大歓声に包まれ、桜井が「せっかく今日は来ていただいたので、ここで私たちの最新シングルである『気づいたら片想い』を、松井さんと一緒にパフォーマンスしたいと思います」と発言。松井を含む乃木坂46として初めて「気づいたら片想い」が披露されると、客席からは松井に対する好意的な声援が送られた。こうして1時間近くにわたるミニライブは無事終了。松井は最後に「緊張したの一言だったんですけど、これで乃木坂に一歩入ることができたのかなと思うので、今日を境にどんどん仲間になっていきたいと思います」と笑顔で感想を述べ、ステージを降りた。
ミニライブ後には囲み取材が行われ、松井のほか生駒里奈、桜井玲香、白石麻衣、西野七瀬、橋本奈々未、堀未央奈の7名が出席。乃木坂46としての初ステージを終えた松井は「熱気がSKE48とは違うなと感じていて。一体感や盛り上がり方がグループによってこんなにも違うんだなと感じることができたし、兼任や交換留学というのはグループ間の違うところを学ぶということが大前提にあると思うので、まずはその1つを感じることができたのでよかったなと思っています」と、感想を語った。また記者から「今日の松井のパフォーマンスをどう思ったか？」と突然質問された白石は一瞬動揺しつつも、「制服がすごく似合っていて、カワイイなと。SKE48さんってダンスもすごくキレキレでカッコいいので、そういうところも見習いつつ一緒にがんばっていきたい」と笑顔で答えた。
また松井はこの日初めて乃木坂46の円陣を体験し、そのスピードについていけなかったことを告白。すると記者から「この場でやって見せてください」とリクエストされメンバー7人で実演してみたものの、やはりそのスピードについていけず、思わず笑ってしまう一幕もあった。
そしてステージ上で宣言した「16人のプリンシパル trois」出演については、「プリンシパルが始まった当初からすごく面白いなと思っていて。16人を選んで舞台をやるっていうのはすごく新しいことだと思うし、私自身舞台に立つのが夢だったので、今回初舞台が乃木坂のプリンシパルっていうことで一生懸命がんばって選ばれるように、稽古をがんばっていきたい」と発言。これを受けて生駒は「プリンシパルって本当にわからないんですよ。いつもの人気メンバーが選ばれない日もあるし。去年がそうだったので、今回もどうなるかわからないんですけど、その日その日で変わっていくのがプリンシパルの魅力なので、そういうところを皆さんに見てもらえたら」、橋本は「SKE48さんのファンの方も今回来てくださるのかなと思うので、地道にSKEさんのファンの方にもアピールしていこうかな」と意気込みを口にした。そして最後に松井が「私が乃木坂46に参加することでプラスになることが1つでも多くなるようにがんばっていきたいと思っています。ファンの方たちが乃木坂のことをすごく支えていることが今日参加してとてもよくわかったので、その気持ちを大切にしたい」と締めくくり、会見は終了した。

5月30日から6月15日にかけて東京・赤坂ACTシアターで行われる乃木坂46の劇場公演「16人のプリンシパル trois（トロワ）」の特設ページにて、メンバープロフィールが公開された。
このプロフィールでは、メンバー手書きによる「16人のプリンシパル trois」への意気込みのほか、過去2回の「16人のプリンシパル」での思い出を紹介。ここで初めて明かされるエピソードも数多く含まれており、ファン必見の内容となっている。
なおプロフィールは本日5月12日から16日にかけて、連日更新予定。本日は秋元真夏、生田絵梨花、生駒里奈、市來玲奈、伊藤寧々、伊藤万理華、井上小百合の7人分が公開されている。

Handshake Report
5/18 Port Messe Nagoya
(Decided to do a rewrite, because I ended up writing one in Chinese for a FB fan group and that one turned out to be much better than these posts. The new report will be sorted by interesting-ness rather than slots.)
This is my first time at a handshake-only event in Japan (did AKB 2shot on 5/17 but not much to write about other than what I already said on twitter), so I made a point to see as many members as I can win without overcrowding the schedule for each slot.
I met: Kitano Hinako (oshi), Fukagawa Mai, Matsumura Sayuri, Akimoto Manatsu, Ikoma Rina, Wakatsuki Yumi, Ito Marika, Eto Misa, Hori Miona, Nakamoto Himeka, Sakurai Reina, Ikuta Erika, Higuchi Hina and Ito Karin. I got 1-2 tickets for most of them because I really only wanted to see them in person but have nothing to say, got 3 for Maimai and 12 for Kiichan.
I opened every handshake with "I really wanted to meet you so I flew all the way from HK" and it elicited pretty good reactions from all of them. Most of them replied with the standard "omg thank you so much" but they were all smiles the entire time and overall it was a very pleasant experience.

So I'll start with Sayuringo, Hori, Ikuta, Ikoma and Wakasama (1 ticket each)
- There's not much to say about Sayuringo/Ikuta encounters because it's really really standard "thank you for coming" and then I was shoved out. Ikuta was very business-like but it was the final slot of the day and I think she just wanted to get it over with.
- Hori was more or less the same but she got extra brownie points because she dressed up as Sheeta from Castle in the Sky.
- Ikoma is really cute in person, very sincere and down to earth but not much to add because only had one ticket and was shoved out pretty soon.
- Wakatsuki was in girly outfit with her hair hanging down but still cannot shake off the "Wakasama" ikemen persona.

Next up is Manattan, Captain, and Misa (2 tix for Cap and 1 tix each for Manattan/Misa
- Manatsu's handshake is every bit like the hype, very gf-like. I held her right hand with my hands and her left hand was rubbing the back of my right hand the entire time. Asked for the famous zukkyun and was rewarded handsomely.
- Captain was in a good mood the whole day because she had her birthday event after 3rd slot. I went to see her during the final slot but she was still very bubbly. She jumped with joy when I told her I'm from overseas and said she'll def try to come to HK.
- Misamisa is really really pretty in person but she's a bit on the thin side. Complimented my Japanese as soon as I said I was from overseas. Congratulated her on making senbatsu and then was shoved out.

Now onto Marikka, Himetan and Higuchi
- Marikka's face is so round that I just wanted to pinch it! Told her that Seven no Teen is a massive hit on twitter, and that her 3rd single bonus vid in Korea was great and I hope she makes another in Hong Kong.
- Himetan was REALLY cute in person with ribbons and a cute dress. Same voice/demeanor as seen on TV. Of course was hit by Himetan Beam.
- Higuchi is also super pretty in person, in a very traditional-Japanese-woman kind of way. The smile and the voice is to die for, her rank went up a lot after I met her.

Now onto Fukagawa Mai (Slot 1 2tix, Slot 2 1 tix)
- I had wanted to start my day with Kiichan but I was really nervous. So I decided to go to Maimai's lane first because I heard her handshakes are really soothing - and it really was! She was very personable and patient and responded like friends catching up on old times. She also swung her arms sideways back and forth during the handshake, and I wondered whether she could keep up with this all day. But it did calm me down a lot. For slot 2 I told her that I'd be back to see her in August, and she had this huge smile on her face then made me promise...of course!

Then Ito Karin (2 tix)
- This was actually my 2nd most anticipated meeting, because I had been paying attention to her since 2nd gen debut (she has high cheekbones and I'm a huge fan of that, my wife has this facial feature too). The fact that she used to be a wota added more points. She was really fun to talk to and very straight-forward with her responses. She thought it was incredible/bordering inconceivable that I am from overseas. Def going to get her tickets for August.

Finally Kitano Hinako, the main reason why I went to this event (3 slots, 4 tickets each, stacked not looped)
She is too cute. Words cannot describe and pictures do not do her justice at all.
1st slot - told her I am from overseas and that she has a following in both Chinese/English-speaking fandom, as her blog gets translated into both languages. She seemed very surprised to hear that but other than "wow" "really?" "thanks" she did not say much. However the smiles were rewarding enough!
2nd slot - told her that I am in love with her smile and I think it's the best in all of 46. Also told her that despite not making it to 9th senbatsu, I will always support her wherever she is and she just needs to be herself, learning things at her own pace. She spoke a bit more and seemed to relax a bit.
3rd slot - I felt like she kind of recognized me (or I'm just full of myself lol). I told her that I am really happy to have finally met her in person because I've been her fan since debut. Asked her for the rawr pose and got a really cute one! Also told her that I already got her handshake tickets for August. To my surprise she actually talked and asked me to comment on her blog, then asked for my name! Now I don't really care if she did it as a way to get more fans or we had actually make some sort of connection, the gesture alone is enough to make me feel like a million bucks after the handshake. Repetition does pay off!

Observations, Things to Note, Suggestions
Feels like Nogizaka in general is pretty good at these, certainly less horror stories than AKB. There was also the fact that I had some real salty responses from the 2shot event on 5/17, so maybe that experience made Nogizaka responses seem godly. Basically they kept up their smiles the whole time, and some went as far as holding onto my hands and talking even after I was shoved out of the booth, where they had to kinda bend themselves around the partition to keep talking to me.
Obviously, though, this experience is very personal and it's guaranteed that your mileage will vary. The thing to remember, though, is that if you're a first-timer and you only have 1-2 tickets, don't expect the members to be too responsive. They don't know you, and it's likely that they won't see you again, and you don't really know too much about them, so it's likely that the conversation will stay at "thank you for coming to see me" level. The consolation is that at least they will appear to be cordial and you won't walk away disappointed because of a salty response. If you want to at least have some kind of convo, then you basically have to go multiple times, and read up on news/blogs as information from those are great conversation topics. Brushing up on Japanese will definitely help.

Concluding Thoughts
In my short time as a 48/46 fan I've come to like mid-tier/under/kks more so than senbatsu, because a) less controversies (ie antis) b) it's fun to watch them work their way up and c) their photos are cheaper (1 set of Naachan is maybe 3-4 sets of Karin, or 2.5 sets of Kiichan). I have always wondered how these members differ from senbatsu members in terms of responding to fans - I had always assumed that these non-senbatsu members would put more efforts than senbatsu to gain fans, and I felt that really is the case after this event. It's not that senbatsu members don't care, but rather the non-senbatsu were far more responsive and you could feel that they really want to make a connection with their fans (esp the repeaters). Of course one could always say that they're just doing it to gain more fans and that deep down they really don't care that much, but who knows for sure? As for me, if I can walk out of these events feeling like a million bucks, then they're doing something right.

The group started a nationwide handshake meeting tour on November 3rd in Yokohama where they announced that their first album will be coming out on January 7th but there's no title for it yet. Also the group made another announcement that they'll be playing three X-Mas concerts at the Tokyo Ariake Coliseum from December 12th to the 14th.

Nogizaka46 Members Star in Theater Adaptation of “Joshiraku” Manga Series

Nogizaka46 are hitting the stage to star in a play based on the popular Joshiraku Manga series which had also spawned an animated series.
Japanese girl group Nogizaka46 are set to star in Joshiraku a series created by writer Kouji Kumeta and illustrator Yasu. The story follows the lives of five young rakugo performers, a Japanese style of one-man show where a performer recites a story often featuring a large array of characters, whose casting from the pop idol group was subjected to an open vote only weeks ago.
The roles of the girls; Marii Buratei, Kigurumi Haroukitei, Tetora Bouhatei, Gankyou Kurubiyutei, and Kukuru Anrakutei, were triple-casted from Nogizaka46 in order to accommodate as much of the ensemble as possible. Joshiraku is set to run at the AiiA Theater Tokyo from June 18 – 28.

Nogizaka46 member Ikuta Erika (生田絵梨花) will be the leading actress of manga magazine "nakayosi" 60th anniversary musical "Prinicess Knight", "Princess Knight" is adapted from classic manga "Ribon no Kishi" by Osamu Tezuka.
Nogizaka46 member Ikuta Erika (生田絵梨花) will cast the leading character "Sapphire" and another Nogizaka46 member Sakurai Reika (桜井玲香) will cast the character "Hecate".
Ribon no Kishi is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Osamu Tezuka. This manga follows the adventures of Princess Sapphire, a girl who pretends to be a male prince to prevent the criminal Duke Duralumin from inheriting the throne of the reign of Silverland. It was serialized in Kodansha's nakayoshi from 1963 to 1966.
The musical is scheduled on Akasaka ACT Theater, Tokyo from 12 to 17 November 2015, and on Theater BRAVA!, Osaka from 3 to 6 December 2015.

8 Nogizaka46 members to star in a stage play

Stage play "Subete no Inu wa Tengoku e Iku" (English: "Every Dog Goes to Heaven") starring 8 members of Nogizaka46 will be presented at AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo starting October 1.
"Subete no Inu wa Tengoku e Iku" was originally presented in 2001 by NYLON100℃. It's a serious comedy that has a "western" motif. This time, the play will be remade by Tsusumi Yasuyuki (Platinum Papers) starring Nogizaka46 members Ikoma Rina, Ito Marika, Inoue Sayuri, Saito Yuri, Sakurai Reika, Shinuichi Mai, Matsumura Sayuri, and Wakatsuki Yumi. They will co-star with 6 actresses including Kochi Machiko, Torii Miyuki, and Nekoze Tsubaki.
"Subete no Inu wa Tengoku e Iku" will run from October 1 to 12 at AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo.

Ikuta Erika to release her gravure in January 2016
It is announced Nogizaka46 member Ikuta Erika (生田絵梨花) will released her first gravure "Tenchou" (Japanese: 転調, it means changing keys) at 21 January 2016, it will be her swimwear debut too, the publisher will be Shueisha.
The gravure was shoot in Germany which is Ikuta Erika's birthplace, it has been 13 years she went back to Germany since she moved to Japan, and the gravure's release date will be day before her birthday.
The gravure "Tenchou" was photographed by Hosoi Kojiro, A4 size, 128 page.

The 2nd Nogizaka46's Photobook (TBA) will be released in 5 August 2016, it is their 2nd all-members photobook since Nogizaka Ha (乃木坂派) in 2013.
The publisher will be Shufu-To-Seikatsusha, and it will hold an event for photobook purchaser in Fukuya book store, Shinjuku Subnade branch on release day
