Name.........................Hitomi Yaida / 矢井田瞳
Nickname............Yaiko
Born.............................1978.07.28
From...........................Toyonaka, Osaka, Japan
Homepage (http://www.aozorarecords.com/yaiko/)

Yaida first became well known in 2000, when her first EP "Howling" was released on Aozora records, an independent label pre-dominantly distributing to only the Osaka area of Kansai, and reportedly sold in excess of 10,000 copies. Widespread airplay on Osaka's local radio stations and word-of-mouth resulted in both Yaida and Aozora records becoming the focus of a bidding war between the larger record companies for both recording and distribution contracts, the final Japanese distributing rights being sold to Toshiba-EMI with Aozora retaining artist control and independent label status.

I don't know if I'll go..

I'd love to see her again, but my wife's not a big fan, and to be honest, I'm not really digging her last few releases... Just too god damn poppy... She has one of the strongest voices around, and she's singing shit like Otsuka Ai... Why Yaiko, why?!?!?!? You are better than that!!

Also a little pissed she's be finishing the tour in Tokyo... She always finished in Osaka before..  ;)

The only version of this clip I had, had only the left channel and was distorted to hell, so spent about an hour last night replacing it with one from a CD..  Usually that would be straight forward, but the CD version is 50secs longer..  :bleed eyes:

Thanks for the info, :) wanted to add to this thread but didn't have anything new. Right behind hitomi, Yaiko is my fave artist from Japan, :thumbsup wish she was more popular outside of Japan, don't know why she isn't, guess because she's too talented and doesn't need to rely on looks or gimmicks? :( This has to be one of the best songs ever from Japan or really anywhere, one of the songs that really got me into the world of J-Pop/Rock. :yep:

Singer-songwriter Yaida Hitomi’s 20th single, “Machigai Darake no Diary“, has been chosen as the theme song for the upcoming drama, “Bitter Sugar“, which stars actress Ryo. This will be Yaida’s first time in four years to be in charge of a theme song for a drama.

Yaida wrote “Machigai Darake no Diary” with a ‘positive outlook’, and it’s said to be a tune that will push the backs of the ‘around-40′ generation, giving them energy the more they listen to it.

Ryo expressed her thoughts on the song, saying, “No matter how old I get, I need courage to step into something new. However, I need to trust my intuition more, and think after I take that step. It’s a wonderful song that will support me in those kind of situations.”

Yaida herself commented, “I aimed for sounds and lyrics that makes you think, ‘Okay! I’ll do my best today!’, even though there are many things going on in your life. I will be satisfied if people get into the mood by clapping their hands and singing along to it.”

“Machigai Darake no Diary” is set for release on November 30th, and “Bitter Sugar” will air starting October 18th.

Hitomi has a new single coming out in 2 days, MACHIGAI DARAKE NO DIARY, other song is called KOI NO MAHOUBIN. There's a regular edition and a special edition with the PV for the single, here's the cover for that, available for $18.04(!!) at CDJapan. :nervous
