It's all giving me throw-backs to a few years ago when I had my J-pop show on a radio station in my hometown. The group of people there was hilarious, and they were amazingly fun to be around!!

First off, here a little intro about me, I had maybe 1-2 years experience jock talking and streaming music (jpop & kpop) on another online asian radio, but apperantly that radio shut down. I havent dj in maybe a year now, but I think i still got my groove. My schedule is strict but i take w/e slot is avaliable within my time frame.. which is usually after 7PM EST everyday except for the weekends.. i work weekends haha.

It'd be an urban show playing english and jp songs that inspire me such as:

hiphop
R&B
House
Soul samples
Instrumentals
my music
whatever's on my mp3 player. The occasional pop and/or rock track could pop up.

I sorta have themes i wanna do, much like Hip Hop Hizzy.
If i do one, it'd be on a weeknight, maybe bi-weekly for now. The 11pm EST on MONDAY spot looks mighty fine, actually.

One question i do have, am i able to do this on a Mac?

I've been listening to jphip radio for quite a while, even before I started posting on here, and just noticed that there isn't much techno/house/dance music played. And I might be wrong on this but I don't think there's a show dedicated to it neither.

So if anybody would be interested in listening to Japanese techno-pop (or whatever you want to call it), I'd like to start a show for it. I am by no means an expert in the genre, but I'd think it'd be fun to share the songs I have.

I'm so glad to see that the station is still going. But....not enough oldies? :smhid

It's weird I started thinking about my show about a month ago, and I really missed it. So it eventually (because I forgot again, then remembered...I'm too young for Alzheimer's) it lead me back to check out the site.

I'm kind of toying around with the idea of kick starting it all over again, now that my idols are back in the news for all the wrong reasons (OMG Nori-P!). Well, and the fact that I now have around 400 classic idol and oldies JPop CD's. That's a lot of tuneage to keep to myself.

But I'm nervous to take the leap again after all this time...so I need some support. Does anyone still want to hear idols from the 60s, 70s, and 80s?

I was thinking of a different format where there would also be a short portion for me to talk about former idols making news, or share my knowledge or idol facts.

For those who weren't around back then or don't remember me, I'm a 9-year collector of vintage idol music and memorabilia. This includes the above mentioned CD collection, close to 300 vinyl albums and singles, posters, photobooks, videos, toys, and concert paraphernalia. My favorite group is obvious, but I'm also a big fan of the belated Honda Minako and the lovely Shizuka Kudo (but not her silly husband). I have evolved since 2006 and now also listen to all sorts of oldies, not just the idol variety. I have music in my collection that I guarantee you've never heard before!

I do have some experience playing to the public and having my stuff on the air. I'm on a mac and have read on some difficulty on broadcasting from a mac. I already hijacked (wink wink) nicecast. Is that all I need? I do have some more questions so I guess somebody can pm me so it won't take up much public space. Unless it's ok for me to unload the questions on here.

And hey, feel free to dive right into the IRC convo - I've seen you there already hehe so get to know the other DJs. I know I'm hesitant, cuz we had trouble of DJs just disappearing in the past lol

Style would be EDM (Electronic Dance Music). Varied in style. Sway between Breaks, Trance, House, Techno, DnB, Dubstep...all of it. It'd be DJ mixed by me. 45 Minutes or full hour. The last 15 is unmixed and random. It can be new tracks I'm digging or classics (Journey, Foreigner, The Beatles, Floyd etc etc). Some non EDM stuff. Even some Jpop. Don't know if ya'll have a show like that already or not but I'd love to give it a shot.

I perfectly understand you being hesitant. That's why I realize that I gotta earn my stripes first.
