[CHI] Kay Tse
« on: August 04, 2009, 06:08:02 AM »
Kay Tse 謝安琪

Kay Tse is a Hong Kong Cantopop singer. She was a newcomer to the music industry in 2005, and is known for her versatile vocal range and expertise in various music genres, especially in jazz.

Due to the huge success of album <Binary>, Tse won many awards in January 2009. Media praised her as "Grass-Root Queen", increasing her influence in HK music. Joey Yung, Miriam Yeung, Denise Ho, and Kay Tse are currently deemed as the 4 key HK female singers. In daigong's opinion, you can wittle that list down to Denise (indie, experiemental, writese own songs) and Kay (sheer talent alone).

WTF she hasn't acted....there's an error here somewhere.

She dropped an album this year...and a successful concert to boot.

Kay Tse - Yelling (2009-03-19)

Quote from: Yesasia
The most awarded Hong Kong singer in 2008, Canto-pop sensation Kay Tse seeks to defend the crown this year with a slew of new projects. After starring in her first movie Love Connected and providing Cantonese dubbing for the anime hit Ponyo on the Cliff, Kay is set to hold her first solo concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum in May, and release her new album titled Yelling before that. The new album contains 10 songs, including her first chart-topping hit in 2009, "Zhu Yingtai", the second plug "Song of the Year", the concert theme song "Yelling", and the Mandarin version of her 2008 mega hit song "The Street of Wedding Invitation", re-titled "Farewell Party".

Quote
After the smash hit "The Street of Wedding Invitations" last year, can Kay Tse retain her hold on the Song of the Year Award once more? It's certain that 2009 has been a fruitful year for the reigning Canto-pop queen so far, owing mostly to her best-selling album Yelling, which yielded two chart-topping singles "Zhu Yingtai" and "Song of the Year", and her first ever solo concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum. But the best is saved for last as Kay plays her musical trump card at the end of the year, giving us her brand new album titled Slowness, for which she flew all the way to Iceland to shoot the cover and music video. Heading the track list is the main plug "Alive", and other numbers on the album include "Grace Period", "Memoirs of a Geisha", the RTHK sitcom Rooms to Let theme song "The Last Supper", and the catchy CM song "Body, Hair and Skin" for a drugstore chain.
