Rei Okamoto / 岡本玲

Rei Okamoto (Japanese: 岡本玲 Okamoto Rei, born June 18, 1991 in Wakayama) is a Japanese model, actress. She made her debut when she became a fashion model for the junior fashion magazine nicola. She auditioned for the magazine and won their Grand Prix prize in 2003, became a nicomo (nicola model) and was placed with Aragaki Yui on the cover of the February 2003 issue. She was an active model under exclusive contract for the magazine and was also part of the magazine's one-shot musical unit, nicomono.
In 2006, Okamoto transferred from the Senkusha affiliation office to Evergreen Entertainment, which is her current office. She began to get minor roles in dramas, including her first drama, "Seito Shokun!" Okamoto graduated from nicola in spring 2008 in order to focus on her upcoming career in the entertainment industry, with music being a high priority. The lyrics she pens for her music are credited to her forename, Rei. In addition, the guitar that she plays for her music (and that can be seen on the covers of her singles) is a Gibson SG designed by Okamoto herself.

I'm not sure if I like her music yet. On the one hand it has all the right ingredients, but in a world that's so flooded with great artists she doesn't really stand out. In some parts she sounds like Tom Delonge from Blink 182 :lol: I think I'll enjoy her music much more in the summer.
edit: so, I listened to her album a couple of times. It's ok. My favs are Railroad Star and Teenage Days. Her guitar is really cool imo.. even if it is just a different pickguard on a regular SG, it works and looks cool.

For some reason, I think doing these UTB videos and bikini photo shoots makes her lose credibility as a rock star. Same with Avril Lavigne doing that Maxim shoot.

Hey thanks for the newly uploaded YJ magazine scans Daigong, Rei-chan looks really great in those picture. I used to dread her new short bob haircut as I preferred her having long hair, but its gradually growing on me and just like what McDonald says, I'm lovin' it!! :cow: :cow:

Not a definitive answer, but she appears to be concentrating on acting and guesting on variety and comedy shows. She is a mighty fine rocker though, so hope she does some more music.

Can't wait for her 2nd photobook to be released, will definitely be grabbing it. And thanks for that Shukan Young Jump magazine scan uploads there Assman! She has always been my fav actress/artiste all around ever since I started listening to her songs. Jun to Ai drama which she had a role in it just finished airing its last episode last Friday, it was a good 9 months watching Rei-chan and Natsuna in it! Hope she will having more new j-drama projects again soon.
