誕生１０周年を迎え、記念イベントが数多く準備されている、全国コンサートツアー「ＳＥＸＹ８ビート」を３月１７日、神奈川・ハーモニーホール座間からスタート、５月６日さいたまスーパーアリーナーの最終日を持って吉澤が卒業する、２月１４日には３２枚目のシングル、３月２１日には８枚目のアルバムを発売する。１０月７日、８日の両日には、パシフィック横浜展示ホールで世界温暖化防止イベントを行う。

So it seems Egao YES Nude is the last Hitomi single, as the newspapers pointed out. And this, her last album. It will be probably titled Sexy 8 Beat or simply Sexy 8. Now I want to see the setlist before pre-ordering. Boy, Aika comes and gets the bless! I hope her voice has been trained enough. It was kind of expectable to have an album with both Hitomi and Aika, but I thought it would come around the middle of the tour. Well, I will be looking forward.

Haha. Don't worry: I made it up. But expect something like this if it keeps on the wave of Rainbow7 and FuyuFuyu7.5, which would be a total disgrace, at least for me (Except of MY ASIA that is good) It can be Yossie's last or Morning Musume's last or J-Pop's last album that I won't pre-order until I listen to some previews and I'm not disappointed. Shuffled songs add negative points to my final decision, so with or without shuffles, the songs better be a big hell of awesome.

Since this is yossi last mm album, let's hope she have some solo song in it to start off her solo career. and she probably dedicated to her late brother as well.

I also hope to see a solo of Yoshizawa in this album. It could be a hint for her future works.. or just a solo graduation song :)

This album is already looking to be better than the last couple, what with 'Sexy Boy', 'Ambitious' and 'Egao Yes Nude'. If they put 'Aruiteru' on this, I hope it gets hardcore remixed, which is fair since it was already on the minialbum. A 'Morning Curry' remix would be appealing as well. JKM7orwhatever only if it has completely redone new and cute lyrics. Let's hope they can make this one flow as impressively as some of their earlier albums.

2007年はモーニング娘。10周年記念の年! そしてこのアルバムの全国ツアー"コンサートツアー2007春～SEXY 8 ビート～"が2007年3月17日 神奈川を皮切りに、5月6日 さいたまスーパーアリーナまでの全22本がスタート! また、リーダー吉澤はこのアルバムツアーを最後にモーニング娘。を卒業することが決まっており、ファンにとっても記念の1枚。 初回限定盤のDVDには、2007年1月4日 中野サンプラザで開催の「ハロー! プロジェクト 2007 冬～ワンダフルハーツ乙女Gocoro～」のライブ映像より、2曲収録予定。

I know it's bad to hope to much. but I#m really hoping it's more 4/5th album than 6/7th. The album tracks on 7th weren't....that good. 6th did have some good ones(like original chokkan, before it was worn out) or sukiyaki etc.
But 4th had otoko tomodachi, Ii Koto Aru Kinen no Shunkan, honki de atsui, nanni mo..etc

The kanji in the scan is different from the kanji for Housekibako.

You're right, the scan has it as 宝の箱 while Housekibako has it as 宝石箱 So the Shige / Koha song is not "Jewel Box" but "Treasure Box"

I am really looking forward to Eri and Aika's duet! Yossie's solo is really a big surprise...a very nice one too =) I am a tad bit disappointed because I was hoping for more Aichan and Miki...if they can have a duet together, it would be the best tracklist!

I love Sayumi, myself, but even I have admitted how her singing is lacking. There's some things you just can't lie about. However, I have been noticing some improvement lately. She sounds way better than she normally does in this song. I'm so proud!

genki+ is the only interesting song of the bunch so far. From the preview the arrangement and retro instrumentals sound great, the harmony bits and pre-chorus are awesome, but the actual chorus and dual vocal verses are not up to par with the rest of the song. Shame it falls on the vocals, they could've continued that layering trend all through.

Not a bad song though. Got that Yasashii Koe ga bit stuck in my head. Great instrumental. Wish they would get it all right sometime though.

Ha. That's a soft way to say it. Without being too rude, let's say the song is bad. Big shame, as Hitomi is my favorite. If she gets a single, I hope they can spend more than five minutes in the composition and arrangement. That said, and having half album previews, I'm only excited for Genki+ and S.Paradise. Ok, so I just started watching the DVD, and... IT'S AN EGAO YES NUDE CLOSE-UP!!!! w00t! Hottnessss! Ok, then we have close-up performances of Ambitious and Do it! Now, from the Otome Gocoro concert. They only show the upper body. I guess they're saving the wide angles for the DVD.

Listened to it twice now...I am underwhelmed. It's not terrible, it just doesn't live up to my expectations after R7. I agree with MoonsaultV1 about their voices, and the new songs are mostly boring with one or two exceptions. Seeing them performed live might change my mind (it's happened in the past :P ), but right now I'm only hearing disappointment.

I was about to say the production sounds like shit then I realized it's encoded in 128kbps... I'll wait till I listen to it in better quality before I make a final evaluation but I guess I could post my first impressions for each song:
Genki+ is a pretty nice song. The arrangement gets a little tired halfway through, but it's overall pretty nice. I really like what they did with the intro and outro, and it actually got me a little excited... then it went to the normal song... It's very similar to SEXY BOY...
The singles don't really sound much different from the originals but I seem to like aruiteru more... but it shouldn't have been the 2nd track... it sounded so misplaced after genki+, Egao YES Nude would have been a better choice.
Mirai no Taiyou was nothing special and it didn't really catch my attention, but it felt very old school momusu which I guess was a good thing.
Haru Beautiful Everyday was one of my favorites, but I wasn't really feeling Aika's singing, maybe after her voice matures a little. Eri's singing really reminded me of Aibon though, I loved it.
Sono Deai no Tame ni was an okay song I guess. A little boring and I'm not really a fan of Yossi's singing.
Shanamuni Paradise was a pretty good song, had an avex feel to it. But it really didn't stick for some reason, maybe with more listens.
Takara no Bako was horrible... What did they do to the super cute shit that we loved? -___-
BE Positive was alright and is your average H!P album ender. Aruiteru would have been perfect in this spot I think.
Overall it's an alright album, but it felt really short. I think I like it better than their last 3 albums.

Great album, every song has its "thing" that draws you to it. I'm not very good at disecting and analyzing something that is meant to be enjoyed, so I can't use words other than "I like it" or "I don't like it", and since I am not an expert songwriter, I don't even see the point of going to analize it really, I just enjoy it (some songs more than others, but that's normal)....:D

yep i definitely agree with ya there, reyfer...like for instance...Haru Beautiful Everyday...i don't like songs like that normally...but it grabbed me...maybe some kind of nostalgic thing or something, but it stuck with me and its one of my fave tracks haha.

Don't have much time on analysing each song, so I'll just comment on highlights:
Genki+ is the perfect, more than perfect opening for a meccha anime. Or even a sentai. The first mental image I had was that Robots Festival :lol:
Shamuni Paradise is so Chu! Natsu Party, so idol type. Even Miki adapted her voice to that song XD. Could have been a debut song for Hinoi Team @____@
Unfortunately (?), Haru Beautiful Everyday didn't come in the .zip I downloaded, I can't comment about it. But overall, it's a good album, it gets 3 stars (out of 5 lol) from me. The pinku song didn't kill it, unlike Rainbow 7. Props to everyone, Morning Musume is giving me again the image of a group.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised with this album..
1. I like it much better than Rainbow 7
2. I hated egao yes nude, so I hoped the rest of the album would have a different vibe and imo it does.
After a few more listens I think I'll be able to pick some favorites.

The second day in the daily rankings sees a drop to 6th place.
It is internet pre-orders and fans buying the album on the first day that causes the high first day rank and a fall in ranks is to be expected. In the weekly ranking the album may yet be in the top 5 because the sales on the first day are (much) higher than on subsequent days.

I LOVE Shanimuni Paradise! That one & Genki+ are the only ones that made it into my iPod. (;):p) Hmm, what else to write... BE Positive is a nice song and all but not enough jumpy for my style, but I think if I just give it a few more chances it will fall into my iPod within time, almost same goes for Mirai no Taiyou.
Anyone know why Aruiteru is called Aruiteru (ALBUM EDIT)? It's not a mix and for what I can hear it's not re-recorded with mitsui... Any ideas?

Personally, I like this album more than Rainbow 7. That album was all a little over produced, and none of the songs really appealed to me, other than the singles. This one isn't overly better. But it has one thing Rainbow 7 will never have.

I would really like to see you writing songs for four different groups, 10 solo acts, and your own band, and keeping each with its own personality. After you do that for two or three albums, you can tell Tsunku to step aside.

This is my brief review of Sexy 8 Beat. It is really worth to buy!
Genki+ - This song is obviously the best song in this album. The first track of an album usually represents one of its best songs.
In that case, this song really deserves to be the first track in this superb album. It shows elegance, very well harmonization and most importantly "genkiness" spirit.
I could imagine a very attractive dance by momusu when they try to sing this song in a performance/concert someday (very likely in Yossie's graduation concert).
No wonder if I found that most of momusu fans in various forums rated this song very highly.
In my opinion, this song is even better than most of momusu's previous singles.
I personally rate this song as one of momusu's best songs I've ever listened to. It is a very addicting song...
Aruiteru (Album Edit) - This version is slightly different from single version. It has no fade in the ending of the song.
Well, besides of the fact that I've already listened to this song for several months I still enjoy it very much. This song also deserves to be included in this album.
Mirai no Tayou - Many fans said that this song was cute. I feel the same way too as it is actually an easy listening pleasant song.
It might not be the best but it's not bad though...
Egao Yes Nude (Album Mix) - This version has only a little difference from the original single. There are echoes in the beginning and also few whispers in some parts of the song.
It can be a very addicting song if you've listened to it several times...
Haru Beautiful Everyday - I think this is the cutest song in this album. I really like it.
This song is a must-to-listen song for every Eririn fans out there, as there is only a very rare occasion we can listen to Eririn's voice this much in a song.
Aika's voice is only so-so...
Sexy Boy ~Soyokaze ni Yorisotte~
- I think this song is too old to be included in this album. This was a very addicting song at the time it was released(beginning of 2006).
Ambitious! ~Yashinteki de Ii Jan~ - This song is also the original song from the single.
Sono Deai no Tame ni - This song is a kind of farewell song from Yossie since this could be her last solo song as a momusu member.
This song is only so-so but I think every Yossie's fan must like it.
Shanimuni Paradise - This song consists a very good combination of Momusu's top singers: Mikitty, Takitty, Reina, and the last is Mame!
Tsunku thought Mame's voice has improved so much that he gave more important role to Mame recently. This song is really a happy funny song.
Takara no Hako - In my opinion, this is the best Shige-Koha pinku song so far. Although they're actually not suitable for this ballad song (they're more likely fit in funny or happy songs),
However, I still like the melody and arrangement of this song.
Be Positive! - This happy ending song is not bad at all. It just needs some time to get you addicted to it ^^
I highly recommend this nearly perfect album. This album must have higher sales than Rainbow Seven based on the fact that many fans are so satisfied with the quality of this superb album.

Here's my review, after only two listens though so I'm pretty brutal.
Genki+ - From the first few seconds this seems like it’s gonna be some ultra trance song or something, I was relived to find that wasn’t quite true, but it does set the mood for the rest of the album which has more of a dance beat to it than the previous albums.
Although I quite enjoyed the song it soon dawned on me that this isn’t what Morning Musume are all about, they’re taking their self seriously? That shouldn’t be happening. Of course there have been the odd tracks in the past which haven’t been completely stupid, but they’ve come at the right time or been a part of the infamous shuffle groups. Kicking of the album with this song set my fears in place as it looks as though the fun days of old may be fading.
Maybe I’m being a bit of a purist here, but I don’t like the way things seem to be going here, after all it was the ridiculous nature that eventually got me into this band, the pure cheese dripping from every seam (yuck) that was so appealing. It’s good for bands to try new things but this seemed like a bad move, even though the song is by no means bad.
Aruiteru(ALBUM EDIT) – Well this actually sounds the same as the single version to be honest but okay. It’s slightly annoying that they released this on their last mini-album and they’re deciding to put it on here too, makes them seem a little desperate.
Anyway the song itself is another more serious one but it actually somehow manages to stay in the boundaries of what I’d call “true” Momosu, which is good to see. But maybe that’s because it’s a cover version of a Sharam Q song, which would mean this was written a while before any of the others, meaning I can’t really judge what the rest of the album will be like based on this song. It’s a bit too 80’s in parts for my liking but again it isn’t bad, just far from being one of the best either. I’ve got to persevere though, basically every Momosu album has one bad track as the first or second song, and this has only had two decent ones, so things aren’t looking too bad.
Mirai no Taiyou – This isn’t what I want to be hearing, this sounds more like Baby Vox or DDD, something like that. The thing that set Momosu apart from other idol groups was the fact that they were very different from any other around, but this makes them just seem like part of a crowd.
This is the typical JPop song I’ve grown to hate and so I simply can’t bring myself to like this song (ah well at least the band song came one track too late). When looking at previous songs such as “Mr Moonlight Ai no Big Band” and “Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari” it showed what Momosu were all about: incredible diversity and the ability to make stupid songs that actually were good. This is just your everyday JPop song, which for these guys is a major step backwards.
Egao YES Nude(ALBUM MIX) – Well a ridiculously named song if nothing else, and again this sounds the same as the single release. I’ll admit this song has grown on me slightly, but only slightly, and considering I hated it when it first came out that isn’t so good. There just doesn’t seem to be anything going for this song really, it’s just bland, and yet again it’s a step into the stereotypical JPop world which they really shouldn’t be doing. I can’t find much more to write about this song, it’s that average and bland, except that hearing the odd word in English is cringe worthy.
Haru Beautiful Everyday – Well thinks seem to have picked up a little here, the one band who’s managed to pull off the typical JPop style well is Every Little Thing and this song sounds quite similar to one of the slower songs they might do but it’s not quit a ballad. Has quite a catchy tune, but really the hook lines in what Momosu is what is so important, so it can’t be considered great, but it certainly wouldn’t look out of place on one of the older albums either and I certainly wouldn’t find myself skipping it.
After the last album: Rainbow 7, and its inconsistent nature then maybe this album is picking up from there, get some shit songs out of the way and get on to the good stuff? God I hope so anyway. My main concern being that at this point there doesn’t seem to be anything particularly original about any of the songs, something which certainly can’t be said about some of the earlier albums.
SEXY BOY ~Soyokaze ni Yorisotte~ - These names just get worse, at least when they were bad back in the day they made me laugh, not make me shudder. The song itself…well I’m not sure. It seems like it’s trying to be a genuinely good song, why I ask you? If this was a bit more light-hearted then it may have worked, but as it is it’s trying to be serious again and they just can’t pull it off so well.
You can se my song descriptions getting shorter as this goes along, that’s because it’s getting increasingly difficult to say anything about them. All I can say in this one is that the guitar work is pretty funky and the singing actually is quite good too, but like I said this needed to be much more easy-going than it is.
Ambitious! Yashinteki de Ii Jan – I’d head this one a while ago and back then I wasn’t too impressed at all, now though it just seems lie any other song on the album. The bass and guitar accompany each other very well actually in this one and the solo lines are done well. Again though it’s a song that fails with the hook which is what the primary focus should be for a band like this. Not a bad one, but again another average song, I wouldn’t really say bland as at times the background music is actually very good.
Sono Deai no Tame ni – Good to see them sticking another slow song in, shame it sounds like the introduction to a Koda Kumi song. There really isn’t much to say about this one at all, it isn’t quite as bad as a Koda Kumi song but it isn’t fantastic…kinda fits with the theme of the album really…
Shanimuni Paradise – Again, they disappoint me again! Another song that could have been so much better if they hadn’t tried to be serious about it! This one seems like it really could have actually had potential as it’s a decent song anyway, it’s definitely something new for Momosu as this probably has the most of a dance beat out of all the songs on the album and it’s one of the best songs on there, if not the best.
Thankfully this song is a bit more ridiculous than most of the other on here so it doesn’t come across so bad. It’s good to see that a decent song can come out of this new style Momosu seem to have adopted, my only worry is that (even in these early stages) this new style will restrict them from ever making the kind of songs they did in the past.
Housekibako – Not bad, this sounds very much like it could have come straight off Ai no Dairokkan, which is no bad thing. Again this is one I probably wouldn’t find myself skipping if it had been on one of the earlier albums which is a very good sign, this isn’t really in the style I’m used to, but it’s very good to see them moving to a new style and me actually enjoying it.
Not sure who’s taking the main role in this song but it reminds me a lot of Kago Ai (ex-member) which again, is certainly no bad thing. I’ll have to remember to find out who it is and listen out for them more.
BE Positive! – The cheese just got knocked up a notch for this one, if I didn’t know it was Tsunku singing at the start I have no doubt I’d hate it, but hearing him say “Be Positive” in his Engrish is pretty amusing. Still not up to the pure stupidness factor of the likes of “Happy Summer Wedding” but then, what is? I have to say one thing though, cheese doesn’t mean good, this is probably one of the weakest tracks on the album and that isn’t what you want as the last track. I was hoping that the last track would instil some hope about the next album being a good one, but now I couldn’t care less.
Well that’s it in a nutshell, I think it’s pretty obvious to see I’m not the biggest fan of this album but to be honest it did have a lot to live up to. I’m most disappointed to see such a dramatic style change as I don’t think they’ve managed to pull it off so well, for fans being introduced to the band via this album it may not seem so bad, but after familiarising myself with the other albums this really does seem like a step backwards and it just puts them a little closer to being any other generic JPop band.
Well hope you enjoyed reading that (if you bothered), I doubt it though. But anyway that’s about it.

I never said that at all.
I respect anyone's opinion who will respect mine, and from your earlier post, it's apparent you were mocking anyone who's taking time to write out what they think about each song. If you enjoyed the album, that's good for you, but as I said before, don't be an ass to the people who didn't. Other people enjoyed the things I didn't, yet I say nothing to them, because hey if what I said doesn't sway their opinion I have no reason to try to change it.

To clear things up a little
Some of that is just me and my vocabulary... what I said could've probably been said in a nicer way that I don't even know. I just naturally speak pretty harshly and curse a lot... half of my posts probably have atleast one curse word in it... When I say "don't be an ass" it's more in a lighthearted way and I say it when I think someone is about to cross the line.
When I say asshole is when I don't like the person. But the major asshole comment was not directly about you and was a general comment. I don't think you're an asshole.
I have no idea where it became so personal... and it originally wasn't really supposed to be... I guess I'm just under a lot of stress recently from a whole bunch of crap that the smallest things could tick me off...

“Egao YES Nude” went the sexy route and even the album title is SEXY 8 BEAT, so I thought the album would be full of sexy songs, but it betrayed my expectations—I mean that in a good way (laugh).
TAKAHASHI: Right? (laughs) It’s not just sexy. I think that’s what makes it very Morning Musume.
MICHISHIGE: It’s an album that will energize you.
I’m sure you did the recording in the middle of your busy schedule doing other work besides this album, so how was that?
TANAKA: I don’t know if I’ve gotten used to it or not, but I think I’ve become quicker at learning the songs. I remember working hard during Rainbow 7 to learn the songs, but I think this time I might have been able to allot good enough time to learn each song one by one.
MICHISHIGE: I can totally relate.

Which song left the deepest impression?
TANAKA: For me, it’s “Shanimuni Paradise,” which the four of us sing. The word “summer vacation” pops up a lot in the lyrics, and I sang it while thinking of the fun summer vacations I spent when I was little, and I got in a really good mood on my own (laughs). The recording was fun too.
MICHISHIGE: I like “Takara no Hako.” It’s under the name of Shigepink and Kohappink, and up until now, Shigepink and Kohappink have been quite cutesy and upbeat. Well, this is calm. That’s why I was really surprised. I guess it’s about time to graduate from the cutesy upbeat stuff (laughs).
Graduate!?
MICHISHIGE: I’m already 18, so maybe it’s the end with this song (laughs). Maybe it’s even time to put an end to the cutesy upbeat image of Shigepink and Kohappink.
Hahaha. But you never know, you might get to do another cutesy upbeat song on the next one.
MICHISHIGE: I’ll work hard at being cutesy and upbeat then so don’t worry (laughs).
TAKAHASHI: Even we thought, “Whose song is this?” I like “Genki+.” It’s a very energetic song, and it’s also vigorous and suspicious-sounding. I thought it was very Morning Musume-like, and I remember thinking I wanted to hurry up and sing this. There’s also a tour featuring this album, and I’d really like to strongly pull off this song. This song has a lot of lyrics that repeat a lot, so it sounds like a spell.
When you think about how Yoshizawa Hitomi-chan is graduating, Hitomi-chan’s solo song, “Sono Deai no Tame,” makes you cry.
TAKAHASHI: Yes. They let me harmonize on this song, and it really hit me and I got sad.
MICHISHIGE: This is the first and last time the nine of us will release something, and the tour is the same way, so I think it will become a tour that Morning Musume can only do right now. We’d like a lot of people to come see us.

The harmonizing in sono deai no tame is really the highlight of the song. It's kinda sad though that it's supposed to be featuring Yossi >_>

In fact I love this whole album!! I completely and utterly prefer it over 6th and 7th albums!!
I was kinda disspapointed with rainbow 7s album tracks, but this album has all great album tracks!!!
So glad it arrived befroe i go on holiday!

Haru beautiful everyday is still my favourite song on that album.
Waking up to that song early in the morning to Eri's voice is just amazingly refreshing.

With a 100th rank in the Oricon Album chart and 1,626 copies sold in the third week, the total sold for SEXY 8 BEAT is now 30,218. Which is at least more than the mini-album 7.5 Fuyu Fuyu Morning Musume. Mini!....

It's sad to hear of the decline in sales yet again but I can't say I'm surprised considering the new direction the band has took/is taking.

I'm not gonna bother writing another review of what I thought (at least not now) but this album has grown on me a LOT, this is gettinga lot of playtime right now and I'm satrting to apprecaite the new direction MM is taking.
