The Heavy Rotation performance with the orchestra was kinda cool. I don't think the music suits and orchestral arrangement as it takes some of the speed and fun out of the song but it's still interesting hearing the combination.

Saw Stella, Rena, Jessica V., Ayana and Sonya at the AKB48 Singapore Cafe earlier today.

Still very awkward with interviews, mostly because the MC had to juggle between the girls speaking 3 different languages and I guess they're still not used to getting close to fans like that. Rena is really pretty, but she's shy and quiet. I suppose what they say about her only being comfortable with people she knows a bit more is true. Of the other girls, Ayana left the deepest impression, along with Jessica. Ayana's Japanese is actually pretty decent, to the point where she spoke Japanese instead of English/Indonesian (which is funny, to be honest, because she looks the most Indonesian out of them). Jessica's English is superb and she can field questions very well. All in all, worth the money I spent to get a cab to the venue.

I also wrote a short experience post on my trip to Jakarta to see AKB and JKT, should you be so inclined to know!

I'm very jealous of you getting to go.

And getting to see them at the Singapore cafe must have been pretty damn awesome too. Out of those girls, Ayana is my favourite right now and I note that you say that she left the deepest impression. Was that just because of her linguistic skills or was she really good in front of the fans too? When I'm watching clips of her at times she seems like she might be quite shy although there are other times when she seems more confident.

It was actually quite an eyeopener to be there, it's the first time I've had the experience like that. I initially wanted to go just to get a feel of what it's like to travel to see AKB48, but in the end I was glad JKT48 was there as well. If they ever do a proper stage, I hope to get to be there to see it. At first like many I was a little skeptical, and while I still don't think they're quite a fit in Japan, they definitely have potential in their home country. Whether it can last or not is a whole nother ball game, though. And the bonus is I can understand them (well I understand Japanese too, but it's pretty cool lol)!

To be honest most of them were pretty shy, I think it's mostly because of inexperience. While they certainly have experience being in front of cameras and such, I'm sure being close up to fans for extended periods of time is something they're still pretty new to. With Ayana, she's quiet but speaks with confidence. The other girls were constantly consulting the other girls when they were answering, but Ayana mostly thought up her own answers. Although that led to some awkward silences, haha.
