I went to the event in nyc but didn't get in. I had to watch outside from the windows. A huge turn out for her.

The closest I got to her was when she exited the front doors after the event ended, all the people waiting outside went completely insane. I got a video of the top of her head.

This was the "mob" around Utada after she left her Sephora NYC event.
She's somewhere in there, I swear!

Honestly Utada, I love you.... so please learn how to do proper interviews. Seriously, in like all the interviews I've heard her done in America, she's not humble at all about her popularity ("Utada Interview Pt. 1"). She may be quiet, but the way she talks about it... it's like she knows that she's popular... I dunno. The only interview where she was humble about her popularity was in "宇多田ヒカル Utada at Endonline com 1/3 (for HQ)".
I really liked "Reuters News : Utada Hikaru" interview.

Argh, I wanna show Hikki some love and actually buy 'This Is The One' but there's no Euro release date, and if Exodus was anything to go by, there never will be. Guess I'll get it elsewhere and buy it should it ever come out.

So finally got round to obtaining This Is The One and I like it a lot. There are tracks that stand out immediately, others that may require a couple of playthroughs to appreciate more. I thought Come Back To Me was alright, but hearing it more I can't help but replay the song in my head again and again. My favourite tracks:

Merry Christmas Mr Laurence (FYI): Epic beat where East meets West, much like Exodus 04.

Apple and Cinnamon

This One (Crying Like A Child: The chorus immediately reminded me of Umbrella. I'm sure I'm not the only one XD

Automatic Part II: Expectations were pretty high, but rather than say, an English version of the original, it's another good song to dance too. Has the quirkiest lyrics in the album IMO.

For those planning on going to the in-store appearances,
they've all been postponed due to illness.

from utada.com:
Quote
UTADA POSTPONES U.S. PROMOTION FOR ALBUM RELEASE
Renowned international singer  and songwriter, Utada, who is set to release her new album This Is The  One on May 12th (the Island Def Jam Music Group), has been forced to postpone her promotions to launch the album along with a series of in-store appearances.  The 26 year-old artist, who had planned to arrive today May 11th to promote and drive the album release, has been diagnosed with an acute case of left relapsing peritonsillitis.

Utada, who is Japan's best selling artist ever, was set to make highly anticipated in-store appearances in New York City, Los  Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, and Honolulu to promote the May 12th album.  Upon consultation with doctors and a brief hospitalization, she's been advised not to travel or use her voice for at least two weeks.  A full recovery is expected.

According to the artist’s representative, “Utada was very much looking forward to sharing her new album with her U.S fans and is very disappointed that her illness has forced her to postpone these promotional activities.  She looks forward to rescheduling them as soon as she can."

Fans are encouraged to check www.utada.com for more information.

Thanks for letting us know about the tour daigong!

Though I could see her locally here in LA, I'm going to SF to see her at the fillmore with a japanese friend of mine who lives up there. Good excuse to visit the person I saw mm with this summer.

(Hate how the fees add 40% to the ticket cost!)

Fuck...I think San Francisco is sold out already. :banghead: And I was just in Japantown across the street from the Fillmore last Sunday too. Seems like I've been learning of important things way too late lately.
