Cubbie fans can celebrate having a player with a .350+ OBP at the top of the order!

And they can start by pronouncing his name correctly: http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/story/2007/12/12/52731/507

I wish broadcasters would get to work on: TAH-KAHsh SIGH-toe.

Aaron Rowand signed with the Giants today: five years, $60-something million.  Pretty risky move but I guess the Giants are so desperate.  They shoulda resigned Barry~!

AP reported Fukudome signed for four (4) years, $48 million.  Hope Alfonso lets him bat leadoff.

Tadahito signed with the Padres as a free agent.

I thought I read a pitcher named Hiroki Kuroda was signing with the Dodgers for three years but that was premature and he is still weighing his options.

Here's the PDF: http://assets.espn.go.com/media/pdf/071213/mitchell_report.pdf

Wow. So that's what a big league player's personal checks look like.

It seems that if it's a player you've heard of, they're probably on the list.

I never got into baseball since the player's strike kept the Blue Jays from getting a three-peat. This certainly doesn't make me regret that.

Whoa, Eric Gagne? I like how Mitchell listed a ton of Yankees. Mo Vaughn, pssh. Brian Roberts.

I wonder why Roger Clemens has people shocked and awed. Canseco outed him in his book too.

Probably because even people who don't follow baseball recognize the name. ;)

Gary Huckabay of Baseball Prospectus blasts the scheduled steroid hearings in Congress.  I completely agree.

Enough steroid crap already.  About six weeks until pitchers and catchers report!

Baseball HOF: Goose Gossage gets in with 86 percent of the vote.  Jim Rice misses with 72.2 (75 percent required).

I woulda voted for Goose, Bert Blylveven, Tim Raines, maybe Alan Trammell...  NOT for Rice, Dawson or Lee Smith.

BBWAA members are strange animals.

I await final confirmation later this evening.
