A collaboration with a rival group is the only thing I could think of that would upset fans. I personally wouldn't mind. I think it would be a great opportunity for them.

Through some digging, I think it's apparently a collaboration with Morisanchuu? I just keep seeing MoriMusume being referenced everywhere lol.

Hello. I am Manamin. I hang around IRC and almost never post on forums. However, I found this hilarious so I have been trying to post it everywhere I feel appropriate.

Morning Musume '14 had a mini live and handshake at Abeno Q's mall in Osaka today. I was too late to pick up a CD and get a handshake ticket, but squeezing into all the non-reserved space to watch the live (or in my case listen - I couldn't see much!) is free. My Japanese is not 100% perfect, but I am pretty confident of my understanding of what I've written here. ^^;

At the end, they all said individual goodbyes as usual. They went in reverse seniority order, Sakura --> Sayumi.

Ayumi's turn comes up, and she points out that Morning Musume has added the '14 now and '14 CAN be read (in Japanese) as I-SHI, so this is totally her year, please support her! Cheers and lols, right? Clever girl.

Continue, continue.... Ikuta. Crazy girl. Talks for a while and then is like "Hey so '19 is I-ku, right? It's my year UNTIL then!

Please support me in 2019 and even beyond!!" I wasn't able to hear/see but I have the feeling Ayumi said or gave her a "why you steal my joke?!" kind of look or said something, because the next thing I heard was Ikuta being like "BUT IT'S IKU!"

Clever Fuku-chan goes next, and SHE ends her speech by being like "Well, you KNOW. '29 can be read Fu-ku, so you should totally be supporting ME" Ikuta is aghast, Fuku wins.

OR DOES SHE?

Sayu's turn.
Sayu ends HERs by pointing out that (I think?) '37 can be read MI-CHI.... so really, it's actually all about her.

Morning Musume '14 is nuts. Hilarious and awesome. But nuts.

I used a giant excel spreadsheet for all the computations, I got all my dates and sales figures from wikipedia:

The average 1^st week sales of MM: 116,238
peak 1^st week sales at 600,860 with Koi No Dance Site
weakest 1^st week sales at 28,082 with Mikan

The average 1^st week ranking: 2
Hitting #1 in the 1^st week 15 times.
The lowest they've ever gone in the 1^stweek sales ranking is 6, which happened thrice.

Additional, non-weekly ranking statistics:

55 singles = 61 A-side , 65 coupling tracks, 62 instrumental tracks.

The average number of singles Morning Musume Members participate in: 10
Michishige Sayumi set a record with 37 singles she has been a member.
Oda Sakura and Fukuda Asuka have both in 4 singles. In Sakura's case, all singles she has taken part in hit #1 in the 1^st week.

The average age people debut as a member of Morning Musume: 14
Nakazawa Yuko still holds the record for the oldest person to debut in the group: 24 years old
Only Yuko, Takahashi Ai and Sayu have remained in the group through that age.
Kudo Haruka is the youngest person to have ever joined the group: 11 years old.
