Colorado got to within a run in the 7th when Matt Holiday knocked a three-run homer off Okajima.  Top eighth: Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia collect RBI doubles and that was that.  Boston 10, Colorado 5.

Even Matsuzaka got a hit and two RBI in the third...  Ouch!

Whoa. Yeah. Dude was an Outfielder in H.S. NICE!

Watching the process of a sweep (JPH!P Jinx??!) but man. Talk about surgical. More comments later after I pick up my jaw.

Breaking news. A-Rod opts out.

He's going to go down as the most greedy player of all-time. More booing ahead.

How's that Scott Boras?  Upstaging the World Series and FOX took the friggin' bait.  Dummies.

He's an evil genius.  A-Rod WILL get his big buck$.  God Bless AmeriKKKa.

Oh yeah, there WAS a game last night.  How 'bout them Sawx?!  No miracles left for God's Team.  For once, the best team in baseball won the World Series.

he's a bit of a knucklehead,
but the way fans have been treating him, why would he want to stay?

Three saves in four games.  Sox win second title in four years.

There's the face of a winner...  You GOTTA love these pix of Papelbon!

One thing about A-Rod that's been mentioned a lot on Yankee blogs: he's been waiting soooo long to stick it to the Yankee organization (front office management and teammates) AND their fans for what he went through in 2006.  From this day forth, it's just big buck$ and counting stats on the golden path to Cooperstown.  His licence plates will read: F*CK-U-NY.

And more tidbits:

-- Joe Girardi offered the Yankee manager job.  Terms under negotiation.

-- Joe Torre may replace Grady Little as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Little has one more year left on his contract but sheesh lookit the mess of a clubhouse in Chavez Ravine.  I'm skeptical that Torre can make a difference in LA -- a shakedown in upper management would also do some good.  LA press can also be sharp and ruthless.

-- Don Mattingly, passed over for the Yankee job, may hang out with Torre in LA.  Donnie Baseball in Dodger Blue...  strange days, indeed.

yeah, if Torre comes to the Dodgers then most likely so will Mattingly.... strange indeed, but i like it

it also wouldn't hurt if he can bring A-Rod  :P

If/when Torre/Mattingly invade Chavez Ravine then the rookie/veteran rift will be sealed in a way that will favor the older, established players.  Juan Pierre and Jeff Kent can breathe more easily now.

I'd hate to be a Dodger fan right now...  On the other hand, they ARE clear front runners in the chase to sign A-Rod.  Dodgers and Angels.  Is the stadium in Anaheim a better home run park than Dodger Stadium?  Boras had better have the answer.  Or is the question irrelevant?  I guess so long as there's a nutty GM out there who would pay him $30-35 million a year.  I wonder what Boras's take is...

don't know which is the better HR park but i think he'd have a better chance of reaching the world series in Anahiem
...A-Rod in the line-up with Vlad Guerrero  :O

Angels owner Artie Moreno has also said in the past that he's not afraid to spend the bucks to win a championship.  Perhaps their new GM will be able to work out a megadeal with Scott Boras -- co-ownership deal, no doubt.

Angels Stadium is, to my knowledge, not a pitchers park, unlike Dodger Stadium.  A-Rod had best stay away from AT&T Park in SF and hope that the Cubs get their ownership issues settled.  Wrigley Field is the place to be if he wants to reach 800 jacks!

Good luck to Torre and the Dodgers.  They'll need it.

Seems to me that LA's problem wasn't its manager, but upper management that didn't want to field a team of younger players from its farm system.  I'm not sure Torre will be supportive of the kids; he'd rather play the older, "proven" vets.

Did anyone else catch this story?  I guess you don't figure baseball owners to be up to snuff with their critical baseball analysis, settling for rich cheerleader status...

But sheesh, yeah the Rockies woulda won six out of ten if they extended the series to Thanksgiving.  Siddown and shaddap!  And spend some more money on your team.

Boston's Dustin Pedroia won ROY in the American League and Ryan Braun narrowly edged out Troy Tulowitzki in the National League balloting.

You never know but I'm getting a 1978 N.L. vibe here when Ozzie Smith finished behind Bob Horner in the balloting.  Smith became "The Wizard," had a Hall of Fame career and a postseason hero.  Horner...  well he hit four home runs in a single game, a long time ago...

Remarkable if true.  A-Rod woulda made New York happier if he stood up for Joe Torre: "He goes, I go!"
