My brain finally thought of something that can be used as a series for Mayuki. Yehey! :D
It Started With A Bet
Prologue
I am Kashiwagi Yuki. One of the richest and prettiest girl in our school. I had a lot of boyfriends and girlfriends. Yeah, you read it right, I had girlfriends. When I get tired of boys I attack the girls next just for more fun.
I never felt that crap called love in my past relationships and I don't believe that thing exists. Just look at my great parents, they keep on working and never took a time to know me. Making money is more important than giving love to their own child. Another reason why I believe that there is no such thing as love is because my parents ignores each other and fought a lot. They only talk when they argue.
But my view about love changed all because of a bet my friends started. I started to feel what love is but I had chosen to protect myself than to continue to be with her... and that was the worst decision I had ever made. I hurt and lost her. Just when I thought I will never see her again she came back into my life. But she changed. Very different from the Mayu that I used to know and love. She became the past me.

Chapter 1
It was another day at the Eykeibe Middle School. The three third year students Aki, Asuka, and Yuki were chatting at the cafeteria.
“Ne Yuki, where is your current boyfriend? I haven't seen him all day.” Asuka asked.
“We broke up yesterday.” Yuki said and took a bite of her food.
“Eh?! But he is so handsome. Can I have him?” Aki said.
“Sure.”
“But I want him too.” Asuka whined.
“Sorry Mocchi but I got the permission first. You can get him after I'm done.”
“Make it fast Akicha.”
“Oh look! There goes the gloomy nerd Watanabe.” Aki said while eyeing on the girl who was walking outside looking a little paranoid.
“That girl is so weird.” Asuka said.
“Who is Watanabe?” Yuki interrupted them. The two girls looked at Yuki with surprise.
“The girl who has her hair parted in the middle with big glasses.” Asuka said.
“And don't forget, she always looks down and she sits at the back corner near the window.” Aki added.
“Ah..” Yuki said but still got no idea who Watanabe is.
“She does have a very low presence that must be why until now you don't remember her name. But she is known for her brains. She got into the overall top 10 in our year level.” Aki said.
“That right.... Ne Yuki, are you bored with your life now?” Asuka asked.
“Yeah. I'm getting bored. Those guys and girls are too easy to get and I get the same reactions whenever I'm caught having an 'affair'.” Yuki said in a bored manner.
“I thought of something that is fun for you.” Asuka said mischievously.
“Ooh I think I know what you're planning.” Aki said.
“That sounds interesting. Spill it Mocchi.” Yuki stopped eating her lunch and focused on Asuka.
“Are you up for a bet?” Asuka said.
Yuki scoffed “You know I will never refuse a bet no matter what mood I have.”
“Since my idea only brings too much excitement for you I might as well make it equally delicious for the three of us.” Asuka said.
“This is starting to get very exciting. Say it Mocchi.” Aki said.
“Okay, here goes the bet. You will make Watanabe helplessly fall in love with you and after that, dump her in front of many students. If you can't do it then you will pose as a nude model for Ohori, the creepy perverted photographer, and the pictures will be spread to the whole school. The time limit is a week before graduation.”
“The punishment is so harsh. Yuki you got two months and a half left.” Aki commented.
“Those won't scare me. I accept it.” Yuki smirked.

The week Yuki accepted the bet she started to observe Mayu to know what kind of approach she will use. Even though getting a boyfriend or girlfriend is easy. Making an introvert girl, who ignores popular people, fall in love with a popular girl needs a little effort.
Yuki first mission: 'Coincidently' meet Mayu and leave a gentle impression.
A popular playgirl suddenly approaching a nerd will arose suspicion to the prey making the prey strengthen her defense mechanism. The approach must not look that Yuki is planning to do something.
*Tuesday*
Right now Yuki is at the library waiting for her prey to arrive. 'There she is.' Yuki thought as she saw Mayu walking around the library looking for book. Fortunately for Yuki, the book Mayu was looking for is at a place where Mayu can't reach. Yuki slowly approached the poor girl who was trying so hard to get the book.
Yuki, the taller between the two, took the book and gave it to Mayu. ”Here.” Yuki said.
Mayu hesitantly took the book from Yuki's hands and looked at the ground. “T-thank you..”
'This girl is really awkward.' Yuki thought. “You should ask someone to get the book the next time you can't reach it or use a stool. Bye.” With that, Yuki left Mayu. 'Now I need to plan another coincident meeting with her and then I can start a real conversation.'
*Wednesday*
“Nyan.” The kitten purred as Yuki softly patted the kitten. 'Good thing I found this little kitten loitering around alone. I can use this. Watanabe will now witness a typical scene in shoujo manga.' Yuki thought and started to laugh by herself.
Yuki moved the kitten to the river bank where her victim can see her 'kindness' clearly. “Okay, now I'm settled I even bought milk and box for this kitten. Only Watanabe is missing. She should be here soon it's almost 7 am.” Yuki mumbled to herself. Classes actually start on 8 am but Mayu goes to school early and proceeds to the forgotten garden of the Botany club that disbanded few years ago. Yuki never went inside the dead garden because the way in going there feels creepy.
'She's coming!' Yuki started to play with the kitten and made a loud noise. She raised the kitten to the air, patted it and gave the milk when Mayu was about to passed by.
“Here you go. Drink this delicious milk you cutie. I'm sorry that I can't take you home. My... The people whom I live with hates animals.” Yuki said the last part sadly and partially forgot Mayu.
“I guess I'll accompany you for a while.” Yuki said to the kitten. “Because we are the same. Our parents don’t care about us.”
“Nyan!” The kitten finished drinking its milk and settled at Yuki's lap.
“You are quite a good cat. When I found you you were so aggressive that you almost scratched my beautiful face but became sweet when I gave you a biscuit” Yuki chuckled.
“I hope the one who will adopt you is a very kind person. What am I saying? Of course only kind people will take a stray cat to their home.”
“Nyan~” The kitten said in agreement.
“Wow. You're smart too.”
It was almost time for class so Yuki wrote something on the box and left the kitten.

“Yuki are you making a progress?” Aki asked.
“It has been a week. You usually get a bf or gf around this time.” Asuka said.
“I want to take it slow besides the end of the bet is best entertainment.” Yuki answer coolly.
The three were chatting as usual until an announcement broke it. “Kashiwagi Yuki-san from Class 3-D, please see Akimoto-sensei in the Faculty Room immediately. I repeat. Kashiwagi Yuki-san from Class 3-D, please see Akimoto-sensei in the Faculty Room immediately.”
“Someone is in trouble.” Aki teased.
“What did you do girl?” Asuka asked.
Yuki stood up and said “It's no big deal.”
*At the Faculty Room*
“Sensei, you called for me?” The old man wearing glasses stopped checking papers and looked at Yuki.
“Yes. Kashiwagi-san I'll go straight to the point.”
“Go ahead. The faster you go to the main point the faster this will end.” Yuki said with no enthusiasm.
“You will have a tutor.”
“What?! I don't need one!”
“You are not serious in your studies and handed your test papers with dumb answers. As your adviser I will do what is right for my students.” Akimoto-sensei said with authority.
Yuki was just silent and Akimoto-sensei took this as a sign to continue. “Your final exam as a third year student is almost coming. Do you want to repeat a year?”
“You are so rude Sensei. Why are you assuming I will fail the next one again and besides my parents doesn't like me to have a tutor.” 'More like they don't care.'
“I was able to talk to your parents through phone and they agreed so you will have a tutor whether you like it or not.”
“Tsk.”
“They also wanted someone who is one of the overall top 10.”
“Top 10?”
“Yes and there is only one of them who is not super busy since almost all of the smartest has an extracurricular activity or are in the student council. I'm still trying to convince her to tutor you.”
“Who is it?”
“Watanabe Mayu.”
“Eh?” 'Now I remember... Akicha did say Watanabe is smart.'
“She's really stubborn. She keeps on refusing me. Wish me luck to convince her. You can go now.” Yuki walked slowly to the door trying to process the information she just received.
'If she will tutor me then I will have a very big opportunity to make her helplessly fall in love with me. The deeper she falls the more enjoyment I get. Hehehe. Good luck Akimoto-sensei. Lady Luck is on my side. Getting close to Watanabe is starting to get easy.' Yuki thought evilly.
Classes are over and it's time for the students to go to their respective clubs. As for Yuki, she belongs to the Go Home Club. She was about to go to the Convenience Store to buy some stuff but halted when she remembered the kitten she played with this morning.
Finding the kitten nowhere from the place she left along with the box. “Somebody adopted her...” Yuki said sadly and released a sigh. “Oh well.” Yuki went back to her original plan and went home at night.

*The Next Day After School*
“Kashiwagi Yuki-san from Class 3-D, please see Akimoto-sensei in the Faculty Room immediately. I repeat. Kashiwagi Yuki-san from Class 3-D, please see Akimoto-sensei in the Faculty Room immediately.”
“You are called again.” Aki said.
“Yeah.” Yuki smiled.
“Is it good news? Why are you happy?” Asuka asked.
“For me, it is. See you girls tomorrow” Yuki coolly went her way to the Faculty Room and found Akimoto-sensei talking to Mayu. 'I knew it. Great job Sensei.' Yuki thought.
“Kashiwagi-san she will be your tutor. This is Watanabe Mayu-san from class 3-A.” The Sensei introduced the two.
Mayu was trying hard to look at Yuki but failed as she kept on looking at the ground right after seeing the gorgeous girl. “Yoroshiku ne, Watanabe-san.” Yuki reached out her hand. Mayu did the same and whispered “Yoroshiku.” but didn't bother to look at Yuki.
“Okay. That settles everything and Kashiwagi-san if I hear from Watanabe-san that you are skipping your tutorials, your parents will cut off your credit card.” Yuki's eyes turned sad as she heard the news. 'They think money can manipulate me.'
“A typical punishment. What is the schedule?” Yuki said.
“Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-5:00 pm and Saturday 1-2 pm. You can choose any place where you want to study.” The Sensei replied.
“Today is Thursday. Are we starting today?” Yuki asked.
“If you want you can start now or wait on Saturday. No more questions? You girls may go now.” The two girls went out from the Faculty Room and talked.
“Where should we study?” Yuki asked Mayu who was still looking at the ground.
“Library. I got some stuff to do so we will start on Saturday.” Mayu was about to go away but Yuki managed to grab her arm.
“Hold on. Let's exchange email first in case something happens.” Yuki took out her cellphone and stared at Mayu. “Your email?”
“I don't have a cellphone.”
“Eh?! Seriously?!” Yuki said in disbelief while Mayu nodded.
“Okay... Which part of the library?” Yuki asked.
“At the History section.” 'She chose a very secluded place.' Yuki thought.
“Alright. See you there.” Yuki started walking away and smirked. 'Prepare yourself Watanabe because in these months you will only be thinking of me non-stop.'

It Started With A Bet
Chapter 2
Two girls in their casual clothes are sitting facing each other at the school library.
“.....”
“.....”
Yuki broke the awkward silence. “Shall we start now?”
“Hai.” Mayu took out a notebook from her bag. “Which subject are you having trouble the most?” Mayu half whispered.
“All.” Yuki lied. ‘The longer time we spend together, the faster and harder she falls for me.’
“We will start with Math first. Please answer this.” Mayu handed Yuki a questionnaire.
“Hm. What is this for?”
“To know how ba-to k-know your skills in that subject.” ‘Was she about to say how bad I am in this subject? She's quite rude. I used to ace my subjects during elementary and honestly I don't need this but for the bet...’ Yuki thought and sighed.
*After a few minutes.*
“Finish. Here.” Yuki handed the half-hearted answered questionnaire. Mayu frowned while looking at Yuki's answers.
“What do you think?” ‘Hehe. I'm sure I don't have a single right answer.’
“For now, please answer these papers.” Mayu gave Yuki another questionnaire and Yuki didn't answer it seriously.
*After an hour*
Yuki looked at Mayu's troubled face with amusement.
“We need to do a lot of work...” Mayu said.
“Really? Why don't we also meet up on Monday, Wednesday and Friday?”
“I can't. Part-time job.” ‘She has a part time job? I wonder what kind of job it is. She never lingers her eyes on somebody for more than 5 seconds. She hasn't even looked at my eyes directly today!’
“What if I pay you too?”
“This tutorial is part of my scholarship. This became one of my responsibilities. They will give me allowance with this.”
“Why don't we extend the time instead?”
“I can't extend the time on weekdays. Only Saturday is good to extend the time but the added hour will be implemented next week.” Mayu said.
“Yes ma'am.” Yuki said playfully.
“About math it will be better if start memorizing the formulas.” Mayu showed the paper she gave to Yuki a while ago with corrections. Mayu explained how to do it right while Yuki was getting irritated because of how far they sat. It's completely different to the scenarios she imagined.
“Wait.” Yuki said.
“What's wrong? Am I too fast?” Mayu asked and looked at Yuki for the first time that day.
“I don't really understand it. Maybe I should sit beside you.” Yuki stood up and sat beside Mayu. Yuki noticed Mayu became uncomfortable but ignored it.
“What was that again?” Yuki pretended.
“Th-this should be d-done like this...” Mayu started to explain and stuttered without fail.

Yuki didn't really do much to make Mayu like her in the first day but at the 4th meeting, she started to become overly friendly and had a big progress in her ‘project’.
Mayu was checking Yuki's paper when Yuki suddenly talk. “You have been improving lately.”
“I don't think so. Your scores increase too slow base on your worksheets.” Mayu replied without taking a glance at Yuki.
“Not that. Lately you are not stuttering that much anymore and you can already look at my eyes directly unlike before. You made me feel like I'm a monster.” Yuki said in a hurt tone.
“.... I'm sorry.” Mayu's guilt was evident.
“It's okay. By the way I have a present for you.” Yuki rummaged her bag looking for a certain box.
“Here.” Yuki presented the gift with a big smile.
“Why?” Mayu asked.
“I will tell you after you open it.” Yuki said excitedly. Mayu tore the paper wrap and found out it was a cellphone.
“I-I can't accept this. It's too e-expensive.” Mayu gave the box back to Yuki but Yuki gave it to Mayu again.
“I found out that you are an orphan and you work hard to have money to eat. I'm not giving this to you because of pity but because I admire your strength. Also, this is my way of showing my appreciation to you for teaching me so please accept it.”
“I really can't accept this.” Mayu shook her head and stubbornly tried to give the box to Yuki.
“I'm not trying to brag but I'm rich. This amount is nothing and I'd rather spend money for something good rather than just spending it for myself with useless stuff. You deserve this. So... Please accept it because I'm not getting it back.” Yuki explain and got Mayu touched with her intention.
“T-thank you very much.” Mayu bowed.
Yuki smiled at her success. “Let me teach you how to use it.” Yuki opened the box and gave the pink cellphone to Mayu. “First, you need to make your email account. You need to think about it carefully because you will be using it forever.”
“Forever?” Mayu was already frowning and Yuki giggled at Mayu's seriousness in thinking of a good email account name.
“I'll help. Let's think together!” Yuki prepared a paper and a pen to list down appropriate email addresses for Mayu.
After 30 minutes, Yuki managed to think of an address that Mayu approves. “You are quite picky.” Yuki complained.
“How can I not be when the addresses you thought of are embarrassing to use.” Mayu retorted back.
Yuki reviewed the embarrassing addresses she made. There were stuff like smartestpersonever@xxxxx.com; theworldrevolvesatthepalmofmyhands@xxxxx.com; closetcutegirl@xxxxx.com; beautifuleyes@xxxxx.com; besteyebrows@xxxxx.com; giantglasses@xxxxx.com; and some other embarrassing email address to use.
“I just want your email address to act as an encouragement for you.”
“It does the opposite instead.” Mayu face palmed.
“Just forget about it. At least you approve one.” Yuki said that but was still upset.
“This looks the most decent and not annoying.” Mayu said while she typed her email address.
“It's plain. The email watanabemayu0326@xxxxx.com is too normal.” Mayu rolled her eyes hearing Yuki whine.
“It's finish!” Mayu gleamed and Yuki excitedly took out her phone.
“I will save your address at my phone. By the way, we have the same model.” Yuki showed her green flip phone and immediately added Mayu to her contacts and sent a message.
“You got mail!” Mayu jumped on her seat because the phone suddenly talked without warning.

Mayu smiled reading Yuki's message and turned to Yuki, who was smiling brightly at Mayu.
“You can just reply later. I put my feelings on that so you better do the same.” Yuki said. The two looked at each other’s eyes for a while until Mayu broke it and looked away.
‘She's being shy again. I'm really amazing. I am the only one who got this close to Watanabe and I will become closer to her after this. Hehehe.’ Yuki thought.
“Can I call you Mayu now?” That caught Mayu's guard down.
“Eh?... Ah! U-un!”
“Mayu, you can also call me Yuki because we are friends.” Shock was still on Mayu's face.
‘It's the first time someone called me Mayu aside from my relatives and Ka...Yu-Yuki said we are fr-friends.’ Mayu thought.
Yuki can't help but smirk on her mind after she saw Mayu's happy face. ‘I am really doing great.’ Yuki proudly thought.
“Thank you.” Mayu showed her shiniest smile that made Yuki's heart skip a beat and stare at Mayu. ‘Her smile is... What are you thinking Yuki?!’ Yuki brushed off her thought.
“N-no problem.” It was Yuki who broke their eye contact for the first time. “By the way, do you know how to save a number?” Yuki pointed at the phone with her eyes concentrated with it.
Instead of replying, Mayu pressed some buttons and successfully saved Yuki's contact in her new phone. “I thought cellphones are complicated to use. It's pretty easy.” Yuki only nodded and was still haven't gotten over the smile that Mayu gave to her.
“Let's not study today. You can go if you want.” Yuki was shocked hearing that.
“Wait!” Yuki accidentally raised her voice.
“You want to study?” Mayu asked.
“Actually no, but can we hang-out somewhere today instead?”
“Eh?” Mayu doesn't know what to say. Nobody has ever invited her to hang-out before.
“Please. Let's have fun. Just the two of us.” Yuki pleaded while showing her puppy eyes. ‘Kawaii.’ Mayu thought. She gave in and nodded as a response.
“Yes! Can you wait for me at the nearest combini? I have something to do first.” Yuki said but in her thoughts she is saying completely different. ‘I don't want to be seen together with her. It's embarrassing.’ Yuki thought.
“Sure.” With that Yuki left to do what said she was supposed to do and Mayu made her way to the convenience store which is actually far. It would take you 20 minutes by walk to reach there.
*After 40 minutes*
Yuki arrived at the combini and saw Mayu reading a manga magazine at the magazine corner.
Yuki walked softly and tapped Mayu's shoulder. “Sorry for making you wait.” Yuki said.
“It's alright.” Mayu placed the magazine back to its place. They went out to the combini and walked around looking for a place to eat. Unfortunately for Mayu, Yuki chose the place where Mayu works.
“Why don't you want to eat here?” Yuki asked Mayu.
“Well because...” Mayu was interrupted by the door of the restaurant suddenly opened revealing an old man.
“Nabe-san your shift today starts at 5 pm, am I right?” The old man asked and didn't even greet a good afternoon to the two girls.
“Hai. I was just walking around with her.” Mayu pointed at Yuki.
“I see. I thought you forgot your schedule. I have something to do. I will be going now.” The old man left the two.
“Your boss looks strict and depressing.” Yuki whispered.
“I heard that he have many problems piling up.”
“What kind of problems?”
“No idea.” Mayu shrugged it and walked away from the said restaurant.
“Wait. You don't want to eat here?” Yuki caught up with Mayu.
“It's awkward eating at the place where you work.” Mayu replied and looked at the ground.
“Fine. Oh! Are you a waitress there?”
“That's impossible for me and besides I'm just a dishwasher.” Mayu said in discourage tone.
‘Really, this girl got no confidence in socializing at all.’ Yuki thought and slapped Mayu's back. “Come on! Don't be like that. I'm sure someday you will be able to talk to people without getting awkward.”
“....” Mayu didn't reply and continued walking. Yuki felt that the conversation won't go anywhere so she didn't press further anymore.
The two found a ramen shop and decided to eat there.
Mayu put her hands together along with a chopstick and said “Itadaki-“
“Wait!” Yuki shouted and it caught the attention of Mayu and other people.
“Eh? What's wrong?” A confused Mayu asked.
Yuki sweat dropped at her over reaction and coughs a little to hide her embarrassment. “Let's take a picture as a remembrance.”
“It's fine. I can always remember this moment. I have a very sharp memory.” Mayu sounded like she doesn't want to get shot by a camera.
“I'm not the same as you so I need a photo.” Yuki brought out her phone and faced the camera at Mayu who has covered her face with her hands.
“Mayu-chan, move your hands away.”
“Please don't do this to me Yuki-san.”
“What's wrong with taking a picture? Come on Mayu-chan move your hands.”
“I'm shy.” Mayu said. Yuki tried to reach Mayu's hands but she couldn't reach it so she sat beside Mayu and put Mayu's hands away.
“Let's take it together. Will it somehow make you feel more comfortable in taking a picture?” Yuki tried to be gentle as possible so that Mayu will give in. Mayu was hesitant but finally agreed.
Yuki sat closer to Mayu and held her phone high. “Say cheese.” Yuki looked at the outcome and almost laugh at Mayu's forced smile. “Mayu-chan you should have said cheese so that I can capture your decent smile.”
“I'm sorry. I'm not used to this.” Mayu bowed.
“Well you got to get used to it because you will face this phone plenty of times in the future.”
“?!” This time Yuki couldn't stop herself and laughed after she saw Mayu's scared face.
Mayu finally noticed that Yuki was making fun of her so she ignored Yuki's laugh and proceeded to what she was supposed to do before Yuki interrupted her. “Itadakimasu.” Yuki stopped laughing when she saw Mayu was already eating. “Hey, wait for me.” Yuki said and went back to her seat to start eating.
*After 25 minutes*
“Yukiii-san you alreeaady gave tooo much for mee. I can at least paay for mmmy part.” Mayu struggled to keep the bill in her hands.
“Leet me pay for usss Mayu-chan.” But Yuki was stronger and got the bill from Mayu. “Yatta!”
“Ah!”
“Hehe. If you want me to let you pay for your part then let me take a good picture of you right now.” Yuki mischievously showed the bill and opened her cellphone.
“I really don't have any other option aside from that, do I?” Mayu said helplessly.
“You only got two choices. Either I pay for everything or let me take a picture of you then I will let you pay.”
Mayu sighed in defeat. “I will pay.”
“Yes! Prepare your smile and I don't want a fake one.” Yuki placed the bill down and gets her phone in position. “Say cheese.”
“Cheese.” Mayu surprisingly also said cheese that made Yuki smile. Yuki's smile got bigger when she saw how she captured Mayu's cuteness in her phone although Mayu’s big glasses were in the way.
Yuki placed her money first before giving the bill to Mayu. After that the two went to their respective home.

‘I'm really tired. I acted too cheerful today.’ Yuki walked tiredly and cringed as she reached her house. She can hear faint sounds of her parents fighting.... Again. Yuki sighed heavily knowing that she won't be able to sleep comfortably today.
Yuki didn't even bother to say Tadaima when she got inside the house because even if she said it, it will not stop the meaningless fight of her parents. She just passed by them, changed into her pajamas, and done other necessities before sleeping. She received a mail just when she was about to close her eyes.

Thank you for this! I've been really waiting for an update.
Now I'm starting to really feel bad for Mayu. She seems so pleased about the friendship that Yukirin has offered her. At least Yuki seems to be affected by Mayu even if she still thinks that it is still a game.

@anakpanti: Sorry for making you wait. :nervous Mayu is too inexperience with people that's why she easily gets caught by Yuki. Mayu's head is too busying studying so she can't observe people. For now, to Yuki Mayu is just a distraction from her parents but Mayu is slowly getting in to Yuki. :P

Chapter 3
Yuki has been anxious since last night. Ever since she gave Mayu a phone, the two had always exchanged mails every night. But last night Mayu didn't reply and Yuki wondered if she did something stupid to the other girl for it to ignore all the almost hundred messages she had sent. Yuki searched for Mayu during breaks but the girl was nowhere to be seen.
‘What did I do? Please just reply once! Mayuuu!!’ Yuki was irritated and ruffled her hair roughly.
“Kashiwagi! Pay attention to class!” The teacher said and Yuki only nodded with a bitter smile. It's not because she is liking Mayu that's why she's been worried for the other girl. She stalled too much time in making friends with Mayu. It's about time she lets Mayu know about love.
Time was very slow for Yuki that day. The voices of the teachers won't register in her mind no matter what. As soon as the teacher dismissed the class, Yuki immediately dashed out of the classroom. She slowed down when she reached the library to take deep breathes so that it's not obvious that she rushed. She peeked at their usual table only to found out Mayu was still not there. Yuki sat down and out of habit; she tapped her right foot hastily.
Yuki jerked when she heard footsteps coming. Thinking it was finally Mayu, Yuki stood up from her seat.
“MA-!...yu.” Yuki was disappointed to see the volunteer student who was bringing a pile of history books. The student was obviously confused at Yuki's startling call and cautiously placed the books to its proper place. A while after the student left, Mayu arrived.
“Mayu! Why are you not replying?” Mayu flinched hearing Yuki's question. “Did I do something wrong? If yes then tell me and I will fix it right away.”
“Yuki-san, you see.. Uh... Ano..Eto. Actually.. I left my phone at work in my locker last night. I'm very sorry!” Mayu bowed.
It took a while for Yuki to process what Mayu said. “Does that mean you don't hate me?”
Mayu raised her head a little to look at Yuki. “Shouldn't I be the one asking something like that? Besides, you didn't do anything wrong.”
“You did piss me off a bit for not replying but I'm more worried. I thought I did something or you might have been kidnapped.” Yuki's voice was full of concern that Mayu felt happy that Yuki is worried about her. Mayu straighten her back.
“As an apology we will not study today. You can go home if you want while I go back at my workplace and get the phone.”
‘I can't afford to lose a time with her!’ Yuki thought. “But finals are 3 weeks away from now and I'm still not confident that I will pass. Let's just study and after that I will accompany you to your workplace.” Yuki said hoping Mayu would agree.
“I'm fine with studying but you don't need to accompany me there. I'm fine by myself.”
“I just want to see the phone in one piece and seeing it right away with my two eyes will relieve me.”
“Okay. If you say so.” Mayu agreed and then tutored Yuki.
Just like the last time they went out, Yuki told Mayu to go ahead to the same convenience store because she got some stuff to do. Mayu obeyed and waited for Yuki at the same magazine corner. Yuki arrived just a few minutes after Mayu and the two proceeded to Mayu's workplace.
“Why did you forget the phone? Surely it didn't slip into your mind that we exchange mails every night. I'm sure something happened.” Yuki said.
Mayu sighed heavily. “The boss visited us yesterday in a drunken state. He caused trouble and kicked the customers out. The guys took care of him and they let us girls go home for the rest of the day. I was quite scared seeing Boss like that that I forgot to take out the phone from my work clothes.”
“He didn't hurt you right? If he did then he will face the wrath of Kashiwagi Yuki.” Yuki raised her fists and punched the air like a boxer.
Mayu giggled at Yuki's actions. “You look silly Yuki-chan. And he didn't do anything to me.”
‘Her giggle is quite cute. It's very far from her gloomy look.’ Yuki thought.
“That's good to hear. Mayu-chan, can we stop to the mall after this?”
“Sure.” Mayu truly doesn't want to go because she finds the mall an annoying place with too many people and the sun is setting too but since she was little guilty for leaving the phone she just complied.
Yuki was glad Mayu forgot her phone. They didn't get to exchange mails last night but she got to spend more physical time with Mayu in exchange. After all, it is different when you talk face to face unlike mails. Mails don’t fully convey what you feel.
Their walk was quiet. Mayu was still shy to strike a conversation first and Yuki was too busy thinking what they will do at the mall later. Yuki was thinking too much that she didn't realized they had already arrived at their destination. Mayu had to hold Yuki's shoulders to stop walking since Yuki can't seem to hear Mayu's voice.
“Yuki-chan we're here.” Yuki finally snapped out and realized they passed by Mayu's work place.
“Uh.. Sorry. I was thinking of something.” Yuki scratched her head and the two went closer to the store. “It's closed.” Yuki looked at Mayu.
“I didn't hear anything about that. Let's go to the back door.” Mayu lead the way. The door opened just when Mayu was about to turn the door knob.
“Watanabe-san?” A guy in casual clothes asked.
“Hello Fukuyama-san.”
“Hi.”
“Fukuyama-san, why is the store closed?” Mayu asked.
Fukuyama sighed tiredly. “Boss came here drunk and did the same thing yesterday but he is more aggressive and noisy today. He harassed a customer and now that customer is at the police station to file a case against boss.”
“Where are the others?”
“They all went home and left me here. Anyway, Watanabe-san why are you here? You don't have a shift today right?”
“Yes, I left my phone at the locker.”
“You can get in but..” Fukuyama looked at Yuki for a bit and gaze back at Mayu. “Your friend can't. Boss might get angry if he saw a stranger in his working area. Please understand.”
“Okay.” Mayu nodded.
“Well, I need to go to the pharmacy to get boss some medicine. So if you finish your business there and I still haven't arrived you can lock the door.” Fukuyama said; showed the key and went away.
“You heard him Yuki-chan. Please wait here.” Yuki wanted to say that she wants to go in too but Mayu went inside fast and closed the door.
Yuki waited there for almost 15 minutes. For the nth time today, Yuki got impatient and worried. Yuki couldn't take it anymore so she decided to come in. As she got closer to the door she hesitated and went back to her position.
“STOP! YUKI HEL-mmph! YUKI!!!” Mayu's scream startled Yuki. Knowing that Mayu is in danger, Yuki grabbed the metal baseball bat that has been accompanying her outside and went inside. Yuki's blood boiled as she saw Mayu pinned to the wall, her mouth was covered by a hand, and Mayu's neck was devoured by an old man.
Mayu was already crying with eyes closed and it made Yuki angrier to the old man. The old man was too busy molesting Mayu that he didn't notice Yuki, who was releasing a black aura, was positioning herself. Yuki gave all of her strength to the baseball bat and strike the old man's head. The impact was too big that the collision of the old man's head and the baseball bat made a loud sound and the man collapsed.
Yuki knew that the man was unconscious but she wanted to beat him more. She wasn't satisfied with the one hit K.O. She wanted to kill that man for doing such thing but Mayu was watching. She can't let Mayu see another ugly scene.
Yuki turned her attention to Mayu who was hugging her trembling knees and tears are still flowing out from her eyes. Yuki approached Mayu slowly.
“Mayu, it's okay. You are safe now. That pervert won't hurt you anymore.” Yuki gently said. Mayu looked at Yuki and hugged her savior.
“I'm *hic* scared.” Mayu whispered. Seeing Mayu like this, Yuki tighten the hug protectively.
“That filthy guy will pay. I told you before. Anyone who hurts you will feel my wrath. I will protect you no matter what.” Yuki's strong words awed Mayu. Nobody has ever said something like that her. This was very new to her and she loved to feeling of being protected especially by Yuki whom she spends most of her time with the most. Mayu doesn't want to let go of their hug. She wanted to stay longer in Yuki's protective warm arms but somebody arrived.
“What happened here?!” Fukuyama looked at his surroundings. His boss was lying on the cold floor. Mayu and Yuki were sitting on the floor while hugging but what caught his attention the most was Mayu. It was the first time he saw an expression from the usual poker face Mayu with an occasional cyborg smile.
“That bastard tried to rape Mayu!” Yuki angrily said and instantly released a black aura which scared Fukuyama.
“What?! Oh my... Wait a minute. Boss did say he wanted to make his wife jealous. Maybe this is his way?”
“He is even worse than I thought. How could he hurt my innocent friend for his own benefit? He will surely rot in prison!” Yuki's anger wasn't showing any signs of going low so Fukuyama tried to say something good.
“You can file a case against him.” Fukuyama pointed something above. “Look. The CCTV camera is on so you have a strong weapon.”
“Then get the copy now while I call the police!” Yuki commanded.
Fukuyama straighten up like a soldier facing their commander. “Yes Ma'am!” Fukuyama was about to go to the security room but they all froze when they heard the police siren.
“Did you already call a while ago?” Fukuyama asked Yuki.
“No. I'm still looking for their number.”
“Then that means...” Fukuyama trailed off.
They heard the sirens from the front door and the back door was suddenly opened by the police with a female civilian.
“Excuse me. We are looking for the owner of this establishment, Saotome Denji” The policeman asked. The three pointed to the man sleeping on the floor.
“Uh.. We are here to arrest him for sexual harassment. What happen to him?”
“He tried to rape my friend and we have a CCTV video to prove it!” Yuki said.
“That pervert. After he harassed me he harasses another girl.” The woman said who was harassed earlier by the old guy.
“That adds another offense for him. Can you give me the video now?” The policeman asked Fukuyama.
“Sure.” Fukuyama rushed and gets the copy.
They all went to the police station where another case was filed against the old man. Mayu was given a stress debriefing by the policewoman and to Yuki's relief, it actually worked on Mayu as the girl was no longer trembling and has now calm down. The old man is going to be imprison for 6 years.
Yuki walked Mayu home since it was already dark.
“I know a relative who needs part-timers. Her shop is near too.” Yuki said.
“Really?”
“Yup. I will tell her to accept you. “
“You don't have to do that. You can just say you have a friend who wants to apply. I can take interviews. I have gotten used to those so I'm sure I won't fail.” Mayu confidently said. "Even though I am shy and always looking at the ground when talking to other people, I can surprisingly do fine in interviews.”
“That's good to hear.” Yuki said.
“I can go by myself from here.” Mayu said.
“But I want to see you in front of your door to be sure.” Yuki said. Yuki really wanted to know where Mayu lives for future use.
“I live there.” Mayu pointed at the condominium. “Just for you I will let you walk me to my door.” Mayu added.
“I heard this place is actually expensive.” Yuki wondered. She thought Mayu was poor.
Mayu read Yuki's thoughts. “My uncle pays for it. I don't want to trouble him more so I told him I don't need an allowance and that I will pay for the food, electricity, and education.”
“And he agreed?” Yuki can't believe Mayu's uncle simply do that to a middle school student who is an orphan.
“It was not easy to make him give in. We had a long fight before he finally agreed to me. I was more stubborn than him.” Mayu laughed a little while remembering her fight with her uncle.
“Why do you want to even pay for your tuition?” The two went inside the elevator.
“Like I said I don't want to trouble him more and besides I know I can get a scholarship.”
“Why don't you be confident like that all the time?” Yuki asked.
“I don't know.” Mayu whispered while going out from the elevator but Yuki still heard it.
“This is my door.” Yuki saw a name Watanabe on the door.
“Yuki.” Yuki looked back at Mayu. “Thank you everything. You are such a great friend.” Mayu smiled sincerely. Yuki stared at Mayu for a while before saying something.
“What if I'm not doing all of this because of friendship.” Mayu frowned a little at Yuki's statement.
“What do you mean?”
“What if I'm doing this because I see you more than a friend.”
Mayu scoffed. “That scenario is even unrealistic. You will never look at me like that.”
“I will. No, I did and I still do.”
Mayu wasn't sure anymore if they are even at the same page. “Can you explain what you just said?”
Yuki took a deep breath before looking at Mayu with seriousness.
“I love you.”

The atmosfer is not enough to make mayu fall,it is true yuki help her and protect her from that bastard,but still not enough to move mayu heart.

Chapter 4
Silence enveloped between the two. Yuki's face was serious but Mayu felt that those 3 words lack something. She can't exactly pinpoint what it is because it's the first time she encounter a situation like this. Although her heart skipped a beat, the feeling of unbelief and suspicion was more powerful.
“I'm sorry but I know this is not the right time to confess because of what happened to you earlier but the thought of losing you scared me.” Yuki said. “I wanted to tell you what my feelings for you are. It's alright with me if you don't give an answer now. I understand it very well but... I want to tell that from now on I will try my best to win your heart.”
Mayu really can't believe what's going on. She is nothing compared to Yuki's past boyfriends or girlfriends. She is a nerd, not sociable, not cute or pretty, and out of sync with what teenagers do nowadays. She doesn't get why someone would get attracted to her unless they are planning to do something bad to her.
‘Yuki wouldn't do something bad to me, right?’ Mayu thought. Yuki has been a very good person to Mayu. “Uh.. Ano...” Mayu was obviously uncomfortable with the situation so Yuki decided take it easy for now and let the girl rest.
“Let's talk about it some other time. Just have a good rest tonight. You had a rough day and I'm sorry for making it rougher. See at school Mayu.” Yuki smiled and slowly walked away from Mayu.
Yuki was finally relieved. Now Mayu knows then Mayu might change her vision to Yuki since Mayu has been obviously looking at Yuki as a friend. It's time to go all out for the bet. Aside from winning the bet she also hoped that with this Mayu will forget about her bad experience this afternoon.

*The Next Day*
Since the two are not meeting up today for tutorial, Yuki woke up very early to be able to walk with Mayu to school. That is the only other time she can be with Mayu without being seen by other students.
“Ah! Mayu-chan ohayo!” Yuki greeted enthusiastically upon seeing Mayu.
“Y-yuki-chan!?” Mayu was surprised to see Yuki. She only saw Yuki this early once but after that she had never encountered her during this time of the day.
“Let's go to school together.”
“S-sure?”Yuki ignored Mayu's hesitant reply and linked their arms.
“!?” Yet again Mayu was surprised by Yuki's sudden closeness to her.
“Mayu-chan I already told my cousin about you and she said I should take you to her shop later.”
“Cousin?”
“Yeah. My relative who needs part-timers at the moment. She only has one employee at the moment since she just started her business so she badly needs workers. You are free later right?” Yuki said.
“Un...” Mayu doesn't seem to be getting used to the physical contact with Yuki. Every time Yuki would look at Mayu; Mayu will always look at the opposite direction.
“I just want to let you know that from now on I will wake up very early just to spend more time with you.” Yuki completely changed their topic and caught Mayu off guard.
“Uh...” Mayu wondered when she will get used to this. Yuki has been invading her space and she doesn't like it but she can't just refuse her because Yuki had saved her. A simple tutorial won't be a good thing to give to her savior. Yuki also helped her in finding a job.
“Mayu-chan are you still there?”
Mayu snapped out from her thoughts and unconsciously raised her free hand. “Hai. Present!”
Yuki laughed at Mayu's absentmindedness. “Classes will start after 55 minutes. Take it easy. Are you excited for classes to start?”
‘If it means to get some space away from you then why not.’ Mayu thought. “I love learning.” Mayu said.
“That explains why you are so smart. I wish I love learning just like you... I hope you will come to love me too.” Yuki whispered the last part but Mayu still heard it. After that the two hadn't said anything until they arrived at the school's vicinity.
“Yuki-chan you go inside first. I have something to do. See you after school.” Yuki wasn't able to reply back as Mayu immediately disappeared before her eyes.
“Is she going to the Botany club's garden? Should I follow her?...... Nah, I will wait for her to invite me there. I'm not interested anyway.” Yuki said to herself.
“Who are you talking to Kashiwagi-san?” A guy asked from Yuki's back.
“Whoa! Akimoto-sensei! I was just.. ugh. Saying my thoughts out loud...” Yuki admitted.
“Oh.” Akimoto-sensei looked at Yuki like she was the weirdest person in the world. “Anyway, are things going well in your tutorial? I didn't hear any complaints from Watanabe-san.” Akimoto-sensei this time looked at Yuki with suspicion.
“Everything is fine. I attended the tutorial without fail and I'm not bullying or blackmailing her or anything.”
“I didn't mention about you bullying or blackmailing her or anything.”
‘Duh, you are obviously suspicious of me.’ Yuki thought.
“I truly don't want Watanabe-san to be your tutor but that child needs to talk to people too.” Akimoto said.
“Sensei do you know something about Mayu's parents?” Yuki asked eagerly.
“Not really. All I know is that they died in a car accident that was set-up by a jealous business partner. Watanabe-san was fortunately not with them that time. She lost her parents when she was 2 years old, I guess.”
“2 years old..” Yuki mumbled. This was the first time she heard about how Mayu's parents died. The people whom she asked info about Mayu also didn't know how and when Mayu became an orphan.
“I don't know if this has a connection to Watanabe-san too but please stop playing with the feelings of other people or else you will regret it forever.” Akimoto said before walking away.
Yuki scoffed as Akimoto's figure was out of sight. “This is youth. You do everything that is fun for you to do. It just so happens I love playing with people and seeing their hurtful face from heartbreak.” Yuki, for the second time that day, said to herself.

Classes have ended and at the same time Mayu got a mail from Yuki that they will meet in the usual convenience store. Upon arriving Mayu saw Yuki outside the store.
“I'm sorry. Have you waited long?” Mayu asked.
“No, I just got here too. A few minutes earlier than you." Yuki replied and stand beside Mayu. "Let's go?”
“U-un.” Mayu was relieved that Yuki didn't cling to her just like this morning. Yuki thought it might be dangerous to cling on Mayu right now since many students might see them and would question her taste in girls.
Yuki kept the conversation alive and going while Mayu mostly accidentally replied that can make the conversations reach dead end. Yuki has been trying hard and she felt really exhausted just talking to Mayu. Yuki got lively again when they are nearing to their destination.
“Mayu-chan, my cousin's shop is right over there.” Yuki dragged Mayu inside a small pastry shop.
As they went inside they saw a long brown haired girl managing the cashier and Yuki continued to drag Mayu to towards the cashier. “Kojiharu, this is the friend I was talking about.”
“Ah, Yuki-chan you did came.”
“I want to help. Please hire her Cuz.”
“What I need now is someone who can give a hand at the kitchen. Can you bake?” Haruna asked Mayu.
“Um, I don't have any experience in baking but I'm willing to learn.” Mayu said with determination. Haruna smiled seeing Mayu's fighting spirit.
“Don't worry Kojiharu. She is a fast learner.” Yuki chimed in.
“Okay, I will trust you this time Yuki-chan. Since I don't have customers at the moment please take care of the cashier for me while I figure out if.. Uh.. Watanabe-san?”
“Yes, I'm Watanabe Mayu.” Mayu confirmed.
“By the way, I'm Kojima Haruna. And I will give Watanabe-san a test at the kitchen.”
Yuki saluted at Haruna. “Yes Ma'am. Good luck Mayu-chan!” Yuki gave Mayu a wink which made Mayu blush.
*At the Kitchen*
“Do you know how to crack a raw egg?” Mayu thought how idiotic Haruna's question was. “Yes, of course” Breaking an egg is easy for Mayu since she lives alone so there are times when she cooks if she has lots of free time and not lazy.
Haruna gave Mayu an egg, a utility bowl, and a fork. “Then demonstrate it.” Haruna told Mayu. The egg was cracked in a decent way which Haruna didn't expect from Yuki's friend. “You can surprisingly do it properly.” Haruna mumbled but Mayu didn't let that slip.
“What do you mean Kojima-san?” Mayu curiously asked.
“Yuki-chan is an idiot when it comes to the kitchen and you know what they say. Birds of the same feather flock together. So I thought you are an idiot in the kitchen too. But you are far way better to help me than Yuki-chan.”
“Really? Is she really that bad in the kitchen?” Mayu was amused to the new bit of information about Yuki.
“Yes she is. She is really hopeless in baking and cooking. It would really make you face palm at her idiocy. She couldn't understand a simple instruction and does something unbelievable. Her common sense fades away as she enters the kitchen.”
“Wow.”
“Is it not obvious from her looks?”
“A little from her image..” Mayu said.
“We're not here to talk about my stupid cousin who can't cook. Okay!” Haruna put her hands together to make a loud sound. “Next is the final test. I want you to follow these steps.” Haruna gave Mayu a paper with procedure to be done. “If you have any questions regarding the procedure, please feel free to ask.” Haruna smiled accommodatingly and then sat at a chair where she can see Mayu work.
Mayu quietly followed the instructions and had asked Haruna only once when she was hesitant on what to do. After placing the cake pan inside the oven, Haruna asked Mayu to go out of the kitchen with her.
“Ah! How was it Kojiharu? She passed the test right?” Yuki, who was munching a cake, asked as soon as she saw the two come out from the kitchen.
“I haven't even told Watanabe-san my verdict so why should I tell you first..” Haruna coldly said. “And why are you eating my products instead of keeping an eye on them? These are not free for a relative you know.” Haruna snatched the plate that Yuki was holding.
“Okay fine. I will pay for it.” Yuki rolled her eyes before placing her money in the counter. “There. Can I have my cake back?”
Haruna gave the cake with a big smile. “Of course.”
“Stingy.” Yuki grumbled but enough for Haruna to hear but Haruna ignored her.
“Watanabe-san.” Haruna said.
“Hai.” Mayu straighten up.
“You're hired. If you don't mind, can you start tomorrow?”
“Thank you very much! I will surely come here tomorrow.” Mayu bowed 90° full to show her gratitude.
“That's great Mayu-chan! Here. Have a piece of my cake.” Yuki readily sliced a piece from her cake and held her fork nearer to Mayu.
“Eh?” ‘Didn't she used that fork a while ago?! Wait... We are friends and normal friends do this without discomfort. But she said she loves me not as a friend. Is this her way to make me-‘ Mayu panicked. She was thinking too much that Yuki wondered why it took her too long to respond.
“Mayu-chan, do you dislike cakes or maybe you don't trust Kojiharu's skills?”
“Eh? Does my cakes don't look appetizing? The appearance should not fool you. I guarantee that they are delicious.” Haruna said.
“No no no. It's not like that, I just.. Uh, forget it.” ‘What am I thinking?’ Mayu hesitantly ate the piece of cake that was waiting for her. Yuki smirked for a second which didn't miss Mayu's eyes.
“It's delicious Kojima-san.”
“Hehe. I know. I'm the best after all.” Haruna proudly said. “Oh, since you might be a great help in the kitchen I will let you borrow a book about baking for beginners. I will get it now.” Haruna left the two and went to her office.
Mayu intended to steal just one glance at Yuki but she ended up staring at her. Yuki ate another piece of the cake and for some reason it was done in a sexy way. ‘Is it me or she's really tasting the fork?’ Mayu fixed her glasses in attempt to distract herself from the beauty in front of her.
“Ah. It's really sweet. I love it. Do you want another bite Mayu-chan?”
“No, I'm fine.” Mayu blushed at the thought of getting another indirect kiss with Yuki.
“You sure?”
“Yeah. I'm not craving for cakes right now so no.”
There was a long silence before Yuki sighed. “You noticed huh.”
“What?”
“That I'm trying to get more indirect kisses.”
‘Seriously?!’ Mayu blushed again at Yuki's revelation.
“Ne Mayu, exams are just a few weeks away right?”
‘Why did she change the subject? And she called me just Mayu. This feels serious.’ Mayu thought. “Yes. Are you not confident to pass?”
“No, I know I will pass it but do you think I can make it to the overall top 10?” Yuki asked.
‘Top 10? Yuki-chan is not that smart based from the tutorials. She is quite slow so getting inside the top 10 is impossible unless she tries 20 times harder.’ Mayu thought and told Yuki the truth. “No you can't.”
“Ouch. You're too frank.” Yuki touched her heart pretending that it hurts.
“I just don't want to get your hopes up if your way and view in studying won't change. You won't even get into the top 20 so I bet you won't ever get into the top 10. I'm very sure.”
“You bet? Then let's have a bet!” Yuki declared.
“Fine. What are the conditions?”
“If I get inside the overall top 10 then you will accept my confession and go out with me.”
Mayu was surprised to the condition. “What? Isn't that too much for a reward?”
“Are you afraid that I might win?” Yuki mockingly said.
“Wha-.. I'm sure you will not win. I accept the bet wholeheartedly.” Unknown to Mayu, she had completely fall to Yuki's trap.
‘I will surely win. I was just acting dumb in the tutorials.’ Yuki thought.
“What would I get if I win?” Mayu asked.
“Then I will stop having boyfriends and girlfriends until I graduate from high school.”
‘Her punishment lasts for 3 years and it seems harsh since I heard that she can only last 3 months without relationships.’ Mayu thought. “Okay, we will go with that.”
“Make more examples during the tutorial ne Mayu-chan.” Yuki happily said.
“Why should I help you win?” Mayu unbelievably asked.
“You have to tutor me or else I will tell Akimoto-sensei that you became lazy in teaching me.”
“Geh.” Mayu remembered that it's her obligation to teach Yuki and make sure she passes the exams with flying colors.
“Sorry for making you wait. This book had found a very good hiding place.” Haruna arrived and noticed Mayu's depressing aura. “What happen Watanabe-san?”
“It's nothing Kojima-san. I just felt Yuki-chan tricked me.” Haruna then turned her attention to Yuki who was happily eating the cake she bought.

About Mayu's wealth. If you are talking about her family, yes they are wealthy. But if you are talking about Mayu who tries hard to live by herself without her family's wealth and her uncle's little help, she is between middle and lower class.

Chapter 5
Yuki never failed to walk to school with Mayu everyday and since Mayu decided to work at Haruna's shop everyday because her condo is just near the shop. Yuki has also started to walk Mayu home. Mayu was usually given a work in the kitchen while Yuki was often forced to help in the cashier with sweets as a payment.
Today Haruna got an order to make a layered cake for a birthday party. Mayu was helping Haruna to make the layers of cake in the kitchen.
“Kojiharu-san?” Mayu is now calling Haruna Kojiharu-san because the other part-timer, which Mayu only saw once, annoyed her to call her boss at such familiarity. Haruna didn't dislike the idea and also helped in annoying Mayu to call her with her nickname.
“Yes?”
“I've been wondering... How come I only saw Takahashi-san here once?” Mayu asked as she never saw the small girl ever since.
“She has classes in the university from afternoon until the evening so she only works here in the morning.”
“I see.” But there was something else Mayu was curious about ever since she saw the small girl. “Kojiharu-san?”
“Yes?”
“How long have you known each other?” Mayu asked as she poured a batch of mixture in the cake pan.
“Ever since our university had a cake contest. I was a third year that time while Takamina was a first year.”
“So Takamina-san is 2 years younger..”
“Actually we are the same age.”
“Eh?”
“Takamina shifted from her first course after her second year.”
“Really?” Haruna only nodded and was focused on the cake. “Kojiharu-san?”
“Yes?” Haruna replied without any hint of annoyance. They were busy making some important cake yet Mayu kept on asking something unrelated to baking.
“Is she courting you?”
“Ah!” Haruna was surprised by Mayu's question and almost dropped the electric hand mixer. “What made you ask that?”
“Etou.. She was always looking at you and she had always tried to do something impressive but..” Mayu did not want to finish her sentence because she doesn't want to badmouth others but Haruna finished her sentence.
“She always fails and ends up looking funny.”
“Uh.”
“She is courting me and it started a year ago.” Haruna said sadly.
“You had known each other for a long time. Why are you not yet answering her?” Mayu wondered. Yuki was doing the same thing for her but she is not yet sure of Yuki's attitude and they had just recently really knew each other personally. Mayu was also not sure of her feelings. Meanwhile Haruna and Minami had known each other since college and now Haruna is already working. Haruna must have figured out her feelings. What is stopping her from answering Minami?
“Let's just say there is something lacking of what I feel for Takamina.”
“What is it?”
“I don't know.” Haruna said but Mayu felt that the older girl was lying. Mayu stopped her questioning as she felt that she was already prying too much with her boss' relationship when it's just only her first week in the shop.
“Is there something else bothering you Mayu-san?”
“I don't really understand those things. Love stuff.”
“How about your parents?” Haruna unknowingly made Mayu remember a lonely past.
“My parents died when I was around 2 years old so I...” Haruna immediately apologized for her careless question in which Mayu forgave. “Anyway, what I don't really understand is how will you know you like or love someone? I never liked someone romantically as far as I can remember.”
“You are still young. Even I haven't fell in love with someone during middle school. But since its feelings when you're in love is what you're asking. Hm, how should I put it?” Haruna turned the electric mixer off and tried to think clearly.
“From what I had experience, every time I'm near to that person I started to get nervous and my heart beats very fast but there are times when I feel very contented and comfortable with her. Just a simple physical contact can drive me crazy and think about it the whole night. She makes me want to hold and touch her more. My eyes will always look for her. Not seeing her for the whole day can make my day depressing. She is my sunshine after all.” Haruna finished. The sparkling in Haruna's eyes was not missed by Mayu and she could tell that Haruna seems to love someone but it's definitely not Minami because Haruna made it sound like the person she loves is far from her.
“Mayu, once you feel that you're in love please do find a way to get it or else you will regret it.” Haruna said in a serious but painful tone, clearly speaking from experience.
“Hai.” Mayu said.
“Great. Oh, how many layers are still left?” Haruna change the subject with ease and they continued to focus on making the cake.

Yuki's POV
This week has been busy. Kojiharu's shop is getting more orders everyday. I guess it's because Valentine’s Day is today. I even saw Takamina yesterday. She skipped her classes just to help us. I really wanted help in the kitchen but they ordered me to stay at the counter. Geez, couldn't they just at least trust me a little in handling those mixing stuff.
“Yuki-chan, you can go ahead.” I snapped from my thoughts and looked at Mayu who was beside me. I successfully walked her to school today too.
“Ok.” I replied. This always happen everyday too. After arriving at school we always part ways at the entrance and then she would go to that garden. I really wonder of what could she be doing there and it's freezing outside! These gloves I'm wearing were useless because my hands are still cold. I remembered when I was a first year that garden looks very abandoned with withered plants. It also looks haunted to me. Maybe Mayu loves horror and she made it into a cemetery where she buries the people whose brain she had eaten!
*Smack*
Ow.. I say I pretty much smacked myself hard. I didn't get any sleep yesterday. Kojiharu was with me the whole night trying to teach me how to make chocolates for someone who is namely Mayu. Of course I didn't tell her who I will give the chocolates to. Well in the end Kojiharu ended up making it by herself because the kitchen became really dirty from the mess I made and I made a lot of failed chocolates. We spent more hours in cleaning rather than baking. Creating food is really bothersome.
Since it's too early I might as well take a nap at the classroom. My eyes felt heavy and I really tried hard to keep talking to Mayu a while ago. All my energy has been drained.
“Great..” My shoe locker is filled with letters. The guys must have noticed that I'm still single for a long time and now they're attacking. I can't play with them now. Mayu takes such a long time to crack. It feels that my confession didn't have that much effect on her and she has also started to get comfortable walking with me. She's still treating me as a friend.
As much as I want to make my brain work and find another strategy to get Mayu's heart, I'm too sleepy. This bet has been really exhausting me. I'm starting to doubt if I can win against Mocchi. Until now I'm still friend zoned by Mayu. This rarely happens to me. I guess I did the wrong strategy.
I'm starting to become negative. This won't do. “Come on Yuki! Nobody can resist you. Fight!” I must have looked like an idiot. Suddenly shouting early in the morning. Good thing it's too early that students would still want to sleep in their soft comfy bed in this cold weather. I really wish that my bed is here too. Never mind the classroom. I will go to the infirmary instead.

“Classes are finally finished. Now I can go to Mayu but before that.” I took out some band aids from my bag and stick them to my hands. “Got to show her how ‘much’ I had worked hard.” I calmly made my way to the library. I usually arrived there first and today Mayu was surprisingly there already.
“Mayu-chan, what topic will we discuss today.” I enthusiastically asked as I sat down beside her and placed my bag at the table.
“What happened to your hands?” Mayu worryingly asked. Heh. Okay Yuki. It's time to do some more acting in the whole duration of this tutorial. I have to act shy and nervous so that when I gave to her the chocolates Kojiharu made I will be able to give a more adorable image. I'm sure she will find it touching too.
“T-this is.. Nothing. I was just being careless and got burns and some cuts.” I said making sure that I sounded shy.
“I didn't notice those this morning.” Mayu mumbled.
“Silly. I was wearing gloves this morning so how will you see it?”
“You're right.” Mayu looked at my hands again. “That's quite a lot of band aids. Can you write without feeling any pain?” I can totally feel her concern towards me. I feel a little bad for putting too many band aids but wait... Maybe I can still make more use of this fake injury.
“Actually, it hurts a little but the pain is bearable.”
“I will be your hand today.” Mayu declared.
“Eh? I'm really fine. You don't have to do that.”
“I don't want your wounds to get worse and to prolong its stay so for you I will write anything you want to write. You are banned to use your hands, understand?” She is really a caring person. She's making me feel weird right now. Am I happy? If yes, maybe because she is showing more concern to me. That must be it. It's not because all my life everybody lets me do what I want and never cares of whatever I did whether it's good or bad.
“Yes ma'am.”
Mayu was truthful to her words. When she gave me the activity sheet she was the one who wrote my answers while I dictate it to her. She didn't say anything while filling my papers. Since I'm sitting at her right I couldn't see well what she's writing so I used this as an excuse to scoot closer to her.
“Wait. I want to change my answer in number 14 but I'm not sure.” I said while slowly moving my head closer to Mayu. Mayu confusingly looked at my direction since my answer to that number was surely right. Mayu was clueless to my moves and was surprised with our very close distance. Our faces were too near and Mayu seems like she froze.
It made me realize that this is the first time I was this near to her. I only now noticed the small mole under her right lower eyelid. I haven't got the chance to look at her beautiful eyes properly because her big eyeglasses are in the way. Her silk skin becomes nothing because of her big ugly glasses. Her hairstyle also makes her less pretty. If only she didn't part it in the middle with the two small bangs hanging at the edge of her glasses.
And her lips. Why is it glowing now? Or has it always been glowing? I move even closer to Mayu. I want to taste her lips. I'm curious to her taste. I don't care if she would slap me. She knew I don't intend to be her friend forever anyway. I closed my eyes anticipating for our lips to touch.
“Mnph.....” This is strange. What I'm kissing is definitely not a lip of a human. I slowly opened my eyes and saw a blushing Mayu in a fair distance away from me and my lips were in contact with her ballpen.
“I'm sorry. I got carried away.” I apologized. I'm really embarrassed with my failed attempt to kiss Mayu. I felt my face getting warmer despite the cold air produced by the aircon and the weather. My heart is also pumping more blood than the usual.
“W-what was it th-that you wanted to change?” It's been a while since Mayu stuttered. Hearing it now in this situation makes her stuttering cute.
“I was thinking... To uh. Nevermind. I think there is no need to change in my answer.” I really want to change my right answer into wrong so that Mayu will have more things to correct to me later but I lost the courage to say it. I'm feeling very nervous right now. I don't know why and my heart rate is not yet stable.
I think I'm doing a good job in being shy and nervous but the problem was that I was not acting. I don't know what happened to me today. Maybe it's still because of the lack of sleep... But I missed the morning subjects because I overslept at the infirmary... I don't want to think anymore!
“Yuki-chan are alright? You had this problematic face for a while now.” Mayu said. We are now heading to Kojiharu's shop.
“I'm fine.” I'm not fine! I was supposed to give the chocolates to her after the tutorial but my nervousness was still with me. Even now I'm still nervous. What is going on with my feelings today?! Why am I so nervous? The chocolate I'm bringing right now is purely made by Kojiharu yet why? Is it because this is the first time I will a chocolate to someone? But I feel that it's not because of that. I need to get over this and the only way is to give the chocolate to Mayu.
“Mayu-chan!” I accidentally shouted despite her just being next to me.
“Yes?!” Mayu was startled.
“Happy Valentine’s Day! Please accept this!” I presented to her the chocolates and I bowed down too.
“Eh? Ah. Thank you.” I felt the box slowly out from my grip. I got another chance to see Mayu blushing.
This is strange. The nervousness is still here with me. I give up. I'm going home! “Mayu-chan I have some stuff to do at home so I can't walk you home. See you tomorrow.” I didn't bother to listen to Mayu's respond. I'm too embarrassed so I dashed in going home.
End of Yuki's POV

Mayu entered the shop with disbelief. Yuki had done a lot of surprising stuff today and she was acting strange too.
“Mayu-san, Yuki is not with you?” Haruna asked Mayu.
“She said she had to do something at home.”
Haruna gave a smirk. “That kid must have given the chocolate to the one she likes.”
“You knew about it?”
“She asked for my help yesterday after she walked you home. I tried to teach her but she failed miserably. You see that box?” Haruna pointed to a box filled with strange shaped chocolates. “Those are made by Yuki. I suggest you shouldn't eat those. They are dangerous.” Haruna warned because Mayu looked like she wanted to try Yuki's creations.
“My teachings were useless. I ended up making the chocolate that she was about to give. That kid is really hopeless in the kitchen. Whoever it is that receives her chocolate is very lucky that he didn't get to eat Yuki’s real handmade chocolates.” Haruna said before entering the kitchen.
“Then the one Yuki-chan gave to me was not made by her but by Kojiharu-san.” Mayu open the box which truly contained Yuki's handmade chocolates.
“Guh! Why is this chocolate too bitter? And this one is sour. This is too sweet.” Mayu commented as she tasted Yuki's creations. “You are truly hopeless in the kitchen Yuki-chan. But at least I tasted your hard work.” Mayu blushed remembering Yuki being extremely adorable today, fidgeting in her chair while Mayu was teaching her. “I will not let your injuries go to waste. I will eat all these… chocolates.” Mayu gulped hard.
“What should I give to Yuki-chan on White Day?” Mayu smiled at the thought.

Chapter 5 Part 2
‘It's so cold... Ugh.. But the sun is so strong.. Huh? Why is the sun more piercing today?’ Yuki took a glance at her clock groggily.
“What?! It's 7:45 already?!” Yuki cursed herself. She actually slept around 3:00 am because for some reason Mayu was bugging her. Yuki quickly picked her phone and discovered a mail sent by Mayu earlier. Yuki can't help but get worried about the mail she got and called Mayu.
“*Cough cough* Yuki-chan.” A weak voice answered.
“Mayu-chan? I'm sorry I overslept. Are you alright? Do you want me to visit you right now?” Yuki asked worryingly.
“I'm going to be fine so you don't need to come here now. Besides you're going to be late.” A few strong coughs followed which really made Yuki worried.
“Do you want me to bring anything for you after school? I will buy anything for you.”
“You don't need to bring anything. I don't want to be rude but you don't need to come here later either.”
“There's no way I'm leaving you in that state! I'm coming there later whether you like it or not.”
“*Cough cough cough* Yuki-chan I'm tired so I don't to argue with you. Do whatever you want. Bye.” Mayu hanged the phone.
“I just missed one time in walking her home and she got a stomachache and cough. I better pass by Kojiharu's shop later to know what Mayu did yesterday.” Yuki said to herself and prepared for school. Since Mayu was not with her Yuki slacked off and arrived at school very late.
After school Yuki visited Haruna before buying things that can improve Mayu's health. “Ne, Kojiharu, did you know Mayu's condition?”
The taller girl nodded and sighed. “I warned her not to eat those.”
“Eat what?”
“Your so-called handmade chocolates made Mayu-san sick!” Haruna accusingly pointed at Yuki.
Yuki's eyes bulged from the news she got. “What?! She ate those?!”
“She brought home all of your failed chocolates and even ate some during her working hours.”
“Seriously..” Yuki was amazed. She tasted her works and she knew how bad those are. It seems that adding peculiar ingredients behind Haruna's back while they were making the chocolates was not a good idea.
“Mayu-san has such a strange taste but I guess her stomach didn't agree with her tongue. Poor little thing.” Haruna said.
“But it's impossible that she really ate all, right? Even I can't eat them all despite I'm the one who made those.”
“Probably but I saw her eating a lot of those yesterday. She ate almost 1/2 of those from the container. She can surprisingly take your cooking Yuki.”

“I was really still nervous yesterday despite giving Kojiharu's chocolate to Mayu and now I know why. Because Mayu did get to eat my real handmade chocolates and it's my fault why she got sick. But I still can't believe she ate a lot of those. I want to confirm it and it's one of my reasons to go to Mayu's place now. I got to show her that I care for her too. This is another opportunity to increase her love points! Fight Yuki!” Yuki said to herself.
Yuki pressed the doorbell and waited for Mayu to open the door. “You really did come.” A raspy voice said.
“Are you feeling better?” Yuki asked but deep inside she can't help to criticize Mayu's pajamas. Mayu looks older with it and her hair and glasses didn't help at all. (AN: I don't know how to describe clothes that much but what I'm imagining Mayu is wearing Usa Shijimi's pajamas.) Only Mayu's skin was an indicator that the person in front of Yuki is young.
“My stomach is getting *cough cough cough* better. No worries.” Mayu said and led Yuki inside her condo while coughing a lot. ‘I'm glad her stomachache is getting better but her cough sounded worse than this morning.’ Yuki thought.
“I bought things that can ease your stomach and throat.” Yuki showed to Mayu the grocery bag that she brought.
“Thank you.”
“Don't mention it. Where is your kitchen? I will serve a drink to you.” Yuki noticed Mayu flinched a little. ‘Eating my creations must have scared her of what I can do in the kitchen.’ “Don't worry. Kojiharu made this juice for you. I will only be touching the glasses. I won't cook anything.”
“Uh.. Just go straight and then turn left.” Mayu said and sat on the couch in the living room.
Yuki came back to her with Kojiharu's juice and handed the glass. “Here.” Yuki sat beside Mayu.
“Thanks.” Mayu's face turned sour as she took a sip but didn’t utter a single complains even after finishing drinking the sour juice.
“How was it?”
“It's really sour but my throat feels better.”
“That's good to hear.” Silence followed but with a little interruption by Mayu's cough. Mayu was waiting for Yuki to talk first because she seems that she wanted to say something but as soon as Yuki opens her mouth to say something she closes it right away.
“What's up?” Mayu broke the silence. Mayu was really curious what's going with Yuki in the past few minutes.
“Mayu-chan about the chocolate I gave you yesterday..”
“I ate it yesterday. It was delicious.” Mayu smiled.
“That.. That was really made by Kojiharu.” Yuki hesitantly said. She was not sure if Mayu already knew about it.
“I know.”
‘She knew after all.’ Yuki looked at Mayu curiously. “Kojiharu told me you ate the chocolates made by me. She also said you brought it home and a while ago, in the kitchen, I saw the container where I placed my chocolates. There were only 5 left from the almost fifty that I made.” Yuki then asked the question that has bothered her since she talked to Haruna that day. “Do you have a sense of taste?”
“That's quite rude to ask.” Mayu laughed a little.
“But the chocolates I made were horrible. I can't even stand eating 4 pieces of those. How come you were able to eat that much? Not to mention you caught a cough too. Eating chocolates is not that good for you, am I right?”
“I can eat some chocolates but I have a limit and when I exceeded it eventually a cough will develop.”
“Then why did you eat a lot? I even gave you the one that was specifically not made by me yet you still... And now you're sick."”
“Those were supposed to be mine, right?” Yuki nodded as a response. “This is the first time a person other a relative gave me a homemade food. I admit the chocolates made by you were not that delicious but knowing that you tried making it for me makes my every bite of your chocolates bearable. Eating it makes my heart happy. The taste doesn’t matter because it's the thought that counts.” Mayu smiled shyly at Yuki.
“You are happy with my gift?” Yuki asked.
“Yes. Very happy.” Mayu smiled again but there is warmth in her eyes. Yuki's heart, unexpectedly for her, skipped a beat. Yuki gave something really made by her to someone once but both were not received well by the receivers and Yuki's heart ended up broken.
The first one was when she was in grade 5. Yuki noticed that as her family grows richer in money the farther her parents drifted from each other. They do talk but Yuki felt they were forcing themselves to be civil to another. As a good kid that time she wanted her parents to go back of what they used to be, a contented family. One day Yuki got an idea from an anime she saw and executed it.
She made omelet rice for dinner. Yuki innocently presented the unpleasing dinner to her own parents. Her parents were very hungry and tired that time. When they tasted Yuki's omelet they got angry because it was too salty for them to take. They didn't reprimand her but as soon as they went to the kitchen to cook for their own they were shocked of what happened to the kitchen.
The frying pan was emitting smoke and it's covered with black back to back. It was the same for the turner and other cooking utensils that Yuki used. There was also a wall painted in black. Yuki obviously burned a lot of things and places in the kitchen. Since Yuki burnt a lot of things they reprimanded and gave her a lecture for 2 hours, grounded her for a month, and banned her from kitchen until she reaches high school. Yuki was hurt of what happened and swore not to cook for anyone unless it is very necessary. After that they always eat delivered foods or prepared bentos from the convenience store.
Yuki's first experience in giving homemade food was not a good memory at all that's why she doubted in giving Mayu chocolates but Haruna saved her. Even so it was Haruna who let Mayu taste her real chocolates. Instead of Mayu being mad at her for failing a lot she got a touching remark instead. It was same remark that she had wanted to hear from her parents that time. Yuki felt great hearing from Mayu that even if her cooking is bad Mayu still feels happy every time she eats Yuki's cooking.
Yuki was too busy thinking that it surprised her when Mayu held her hands.
“?!”
Mayu closely inspected Yuki's hands. “Your hands look great. Were the band aids from yesterday just for a show?”
‘Crap! I forgot putting it!’ Yuki thought panicky.
“Your ‘injuries’ were one of the” Mayu let go of Yuki's hand and coughed unintentionally. “*cough cough cough* Ugh.... It's one of the reasons why I ate a lot you know.” Mayu added.
“I'm sorry.” Yuki guiltily apologized. “I'm really sorry that I lied and for making you sick through my horrible chocolates.”
“I forgive you lying but you don't need to apologize for the chocolates. I was not supposed to know that you gave me Kojiharu's chocolates. I decided to eat your chocolates on my own accord after knowing everything.” Mayu assured Yuki.
After that Mayu was tired so Yuki left to let Mayu rest comfortably. Mayu guided her to door to say goodbye properly.
“Yuki-chan, thank you for the chocolates.” Mayu once again smiled warmly at Yuki. Yuki can feel the sincerity from those eyes. Also for some reason her heart pounded fast and her faced started to blush.
“Don't mention it. I caused you trouble in the end.” Yuki said but she was not finished yet. “Th-thank you Ma-mayu-chan.. For eating them...” Yuki shyly said. It was just a simple thank you but it was hard for Yuki to say it. It's been a long time since she showed her gratitude with honesty and she's addressing it to Mayu too. She felt weird and she didn't like this feeling of uneasiness either.
Mayu's smile only got bigger after hearing Yuki's cute thank you while Yuki's face turned redder and her heart rate speed up as she stares at Mayu's smile.
“You're welcome.” Mayu said. Yuki take her eyes away from Mayu. The longer she looked at the shorter girl the more irregular her heart beat becomes. Yuki said her goodbye without looking at Mayu and dashed as fast as she can away from Mayu's condo as soon as she was out from the building.

UH MAYUYU --SHE SO INOCENT,MAYU also NOT gooD experience what love is about,but i believe she had a family (her uncle) that treat her in good way and love her. thats why she became a good kids,(ok im tired to try)

The problem is come when one of them deny it.it will end up good and bad at the same time
For yuki is good to her to know the true love is and bad cause we know what she gonna do in the end,but i do believe it end up be more good result for yuki,after those on prologue im sure yuki became a good person
As for mayu is good that she talk and shared thing with someone else,she start to socialized and be friends with haruna,thank to yuki.but im worried because of yuki too,she will though love in a wrong way than it should be,

Hello readers. :sweat:
I will not be updating any of my fanfics this month because I need to work hard for my finals. There are some subjects that I'm worried with and I want to pass all with satisfying grades. I want to become a second year(I hope I will be a second year next semester) without regrets from my first year grades.
Please do wait for the next update patiently. I will make sure to make up for my absence as a writer as soon as finals ends. Probably around early or mid-April I can update ISWAB but I need to update ISWAB twice before My Girly Boyfriend(RikuYuko) next. About my other fanfic Close To You, I already warn about it's slow update so I might really not update that for the next 2 months but I will try my best to come up with something for that fanfic.
As much as possible please refrain from bumping in my threads and ask me to update.
You guys don't mind if I won't post this on my other Mayuki ongoing fanfic right? The people who are reading are pretty much the same anyway. :)
I hope you guys are still here once I got back from my battles with the mountain of texts to study, difficult projects, bothersome teachers, and headaching test papers. :cry: Wish me luck. :prayers:

Chapter 6
Mayu had gotten better a few days after Yuki's visit at Mayu's condo. Things were the usual; walking to school together, tutorial after school, going to Haruna's shop, and walking Mayu home. That was the schedule Yuki had adopted ever since she confessed to Mayu. Of course she never failed to do those, except on the days Mayu was sick, and she was proud of it. But then the day when Yuki herself skipped walking to school with Mayu came.
Mayu got worried that maybe Yuki got sick but Yuki mailed her and it said she overslept. Mayu believed it. Yuki came to school with a depressing aura. The people can feel the unpleasant mood of Kashiwagi-san and they tried not to bother the girl as much as they can. Mayu heard the news of Yuki's aura that day and she was curious so she passed by Yuki's classroom. The news was true. Mayu saw a depressed Yuki sitting beside the window with melancholic eyes watching outside. Instead of talking to Yuki during lunch break Mayu did her usual routine and decided to just wait after school for them to talk.
After school at the library Mayu was shocked to see Yuki. Mayu had always been the first one who arrives at the library and Yuki will always come in next with a cheerful smile. But this time Yuki was spacing out and didn't notice Mayu's presence beside her.
“Yuki-chan?” Mayu nudged Yuki's shoulder to snap the other girl from her thoughts.
“Eh? Ah. Mayu-chan?” Yuki stared at Mayu blankly for a while and then smiled a strained smile. “Oh! Ma-mayu-chan um.. I had trouble figuring out the new math lesson.” Yuki frantically looked for her math notebook inside her bag which was beside Mayu.
“?” Yuki stopped her movements as Mayu took hold of her hand, which was looking for the notebook, and put it away from her bag.
“We will not study today.” Mayu said.
“Why? Don't tell me this is your way for me not to win our bet?”
“Why would I let you win easily? But it's not because of that. You look tired.” Mayu can see closely the eye bags beneath Yuki's eyes.
Yuki brought out her brightest smile to Mayu. “Tired? No I'm not. See?”
“You smile is not lively. I can see it from your eyes. It is better for you to go home and rest.”
“I don't want to go home!” Yuki unconsciously shouted but Mayu didn't mind it. Yuki covered her mouth upon realizing that she just shouted at Mayu. “Mayu-chan I.. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to raise my voice.”
“It's alright.” Mayu said but it didn't made Yuki feel good. She was still guilty.
“Do you want to sleep here instead?” Mayu said.
“Eh?” Yuki was startled by sudden shift of the mood.
“You look like you didn't get enough sleep so do you want to sleep?” Yuki was tempted to say yes because she really didn't get that much sleep but she wanted to stay awake to talk more with Mayu.
“I'm not in the mood to teach so.. Um if you want to go somewhere else you can go and if you want to sleep you can go to the infirmary or...” Mayu looked away from Yuki and used her smallest voice. “You can sleep on my lap...” Mayu cursed herself immediately mentally for offering her lap. She just realized how embarrassing it is. She hoped Yuki didn't hear it but it seems that Yuki heard it. Mayu saw that Yuki was looking at her dumbfounded.
“What was that?” Yuki asked. She was not sure if she heard it right. ‘Did Mayu just offer her lap to me?’ Yuki thought unbelievingly.
“It was nothing. Forget about it.” Mayu nervously said and pretended to be interested in the book lying near her. Not wanting to waste the opportunity, Yuki talked before Mayu might completely deject the offer given to her.
“I would love to sleep... On your lap if you will allow me.” Mayu instantly blush on Yuki's reply and smile. And it's not the same smile that Yuki gave to her earlier. It was the smile that Mayu had been often seeing from Yuki lately. A sincere smile that reached Yuki's eyes.
“F-fine. I-if you insist.” Yuki giggled of Mayu acting a little tsundere on her.
“Thanks.” Yuki was truthfully thankful.
“W-won't you mind sl-sleeping here? Just use the other chairs to support half of your body.” Mayu stuttered at first but recovered.
“I'm fine anywhere as long as I get you as my pillow.” Yuki said which made Mayu blush once again.
As soon as Yuki's head was on Mayu's lap all the negative feelings that she has been feeling since yesterday was gone in an instant. The pain in her heart went away as Mayu patted her head lulling her to fall asleep faster. But the feeling of gentleness and secureness doesn't want to make Yuki fall asleep mentally even if her body was telling her to sleep. Yuki wants to stay wake as much as possible because this moment was too rare and she rarely feels secure with somebody else. Also, she can't seem to get enough of Mayu's touch.
Noticing that Yuki was struggling to sleep with her eyeball moving around so much beneath the skin, Mayu hummed a lullaby to make her job easier. It only made Yuki not want to sleep more. Hearing Mayu's soothing voice did make her sleepier but this moment was precious to waste just because she fell asleep.
Mayu stopped her patting and humming that it made Yuki to open her eyes.
“I'm doing all of this to make you sleep yet you're still fighting to be awake. What do you want to happen?”
“I don't want to sleep because I don't think you will give me another chance to experience this.” Yuki said the truth.
“But if I do?”
“Eh?!” Yuki raise her body from Mayu's lap. “You will if I ask?”
“No.”
“I knew it. May I know why?”
“Because you will abuse it.” Mayu straightforwardly answered without hesitation.
“You didn't even blink your eyes.” Yuki pouted. “You're so mean. I'm not like that.” Yuki didn't face Mayu and sulked, drawing circles in the chair.
“I will only offer it if I can see that you really need it.” Mayu finally said.
“I guess that's better than nothing.” Yuki mumbled and went back to Mayu's lap. “I promise I will not fight my drowsiness so please do it again.”
“You better be. Seeing you depress is...” Mayu didn't continue her words.
“Seeing me depress is?”
“Forget about it.” Mayu covered Yuki's eyes with her hand and started humming. Mayu was just humming and continued to rest her hand to cover Yuki's eyes. It made Yuki a little disappointed. She wanted to be patted again so she transferred the hand that was covering her eyes to her head. Mayu got what Yuki was trying to say to she started patting the sleepy girl. Soon after Yuki fell asleep. Mayu went with her at the dreamland after half an hour.
*After a few hours*
“Good afternoon students. The library will be closing in 10 minutes. Please start preparing your things. I repeat. The library will be closing in 10 minutes. Please start preparing your things. Thank you.” The PA inside the library woke Mayu up.
“Oh no! I'm late for my part time job. Yuki-chan get up. We need to go.” Mayu nudged the girl who was still lying on her lap.
“Can we stay like this a little longer?” Yuki groggily said.
“No we can't but I have to mail Kojiharu-san.” Mayu searched for her phone and found one unread mail that was sent hours ago.

Mayu-san I heard something happened
to Yuki's family. They are undergoing a

‘A family problem? So that's why she is gloomy today.’ Mayu thought.
“Kojiharu-san gave me a day off today.” Mayu said as she put away her phone and looked at Yuki who was still sleeping.
“That's great. Since that's the case can we stay like this forever?”
“We can't. The library is closing in 10 minutes.”
“.......”
“.......”
“.......”
Yuki never moved in her place and slept soundly. Having no choice, Mayu gathered her courage and tickled Yuki.
“Kyaa! Mayu-chan stop!” Yuki squealed and wriggled in her place and tried to stop Mayu's hands. “Okay! Okay! I'm up!” Yuki was now sitting very far away from Mayu while catching her breath.
“Good. You're fully awake.”
“I can't believe you just did that.” Yuki said. Mayu is the type of person who avoids skin contact as much as possible and always asks permission whenever she does something even though she doesn't need consent. Mayu is a cautious shy person so the attack surprised Yuki.
“You're different today. It feels like you're opening more to me.” Yuki said.
“I am? You're different today too.” Mayu looked at Yuki with concern. “You are not energetic today rather you are depressed and stressed.” Mayu added.
“I guess the exams are starting to get me...” Yuki lied.
‘She won't admit to me that she has a problem. Well I'm not going to force her. But I want to at least make her smile, a real smile.’
“Let's go.” Mayu said and wore her coat.
“Eh? Are we going home already?” Yuki rushed to wear her coat because Mayu was already walking fast away from the table.
Mayu stopped in her tracks and said without looking back at Yuki. “No. I'm taking you somewhere.”
This was another thing that surprised Yuki. It was always Yuki who forces Mayu to go out with her somewhere whenever they finished early in the tutorial and Yuki is always the one who suggest places to go then drag Mayu to the place. Mayu indeed had done a lot of unusual things today but Yuki is not complaining. She actually likes it. Mayu was looking at her more than usual. But there was this foreign feeling that's inside her that she can't describe well. It was a strange feeling, a strange feeling that comes over her whenever Mayu does something unexpected. Maybe she's having such strange feeling because Mayu is doing new things to her.
“Where are you taking me?” Yuki asked as they walked going to their shoe locker. Fortunately for Yuki, there were no students loitering around the hallways and saw her with Mayu. The Go Home Club members must have been in their respectful houses right now doing useless things while the rest of the other clubs are still doing their activities indoors. Mayu was also walking ahead her so from afar it looks like the nerdy girl and Kashiwagi-san are coincidently going to the same direction.
“The place where I always go every morning.” Mayu answered.
‘To the garden? This is another first time. Now I will know what she has been doing in that place under this cold condition.’ Yuki thought. “That sounds interesting.” Yuki said. ‘She is showing a lot of sides of herself to me today.’
The two made their way to the ‘believed dead garden’ which was in a small forest at the vicinity of the school. It was cold outside with the snow covering the land and it was thick enough. Yuki wondered what could possibly be in the dead garden. Its winter after all which means no plants especially flowers is alive in the super cold season. What would Mayu show to her in there? What was Mayu doing in there every day morning?
“We're almost there.” Mayu said. Not long Yuki sighted a big wall.
'Behind that must be the dead garden.' Yuki thought.
“We're here. Welcome to the garden Yuki-chan.” Mayu said as she opened the door to the garden.
Yuki went in first and she gapped at the beauty that she saw. The land was perfectly coated with white which made the colors of the flowers strong and emphasized. The different classes of pink and purple flowers were very attractive. It gave life to the seemingly dead layer of snow. There were also these green bushes with red berries on it making things livelier.
“Wow. There are so many of them. I didn't know that there are flowers that can bloom in winter.” Yuki said and went closer to the flowers.
“Really? You didn't know that?” Mayu said.
“This is the first time I see it like this. They are beautiful.” Yuki pointed to the batch of small bell-like flowers. “What are these Mayu-chan?” Yuki asked like a child who sees a flower for the first time.
“That is actually a shrub that bears flowers. Evergreen Japanese Shrub.” Mayu answered. Yuki enthusiastically asked about each type of flower that was blooming and Mayu gladly answered.
Mayu never wanted anyone to see this garden that she revived because this is the place where she spent most of her time to relax herself. Mayu loves quiet places too so it would bother her if there are other annoying people in her garden. Mayu was astounded to herself why she felt happy that she showed to Yuki the garden. She surprisingly felt great sharing her knowledge about those flowers that she tenderly took care during the past few months.
Unknown to Mayu, she has been staring at Yuki, who was smelling the flowers in crouching position, while smiling for who knows how long and it made the other girl cautious and embarrassed with the way Mayu looked at her. It was a gentle gaze that she never received from the usual emotionless Mayu.
“Mayu-chan is there something wrong?”
“Huh?”
“You've been smiling and staring at me quite some time now. Is there something that's stuck in my uniform or dirt on my face?” Yuki inspected herself to find the cause of Mayu's smile but found none. “There is something on my face, right?” Yuki asked as she touched her own face but still didn't find anything weird.
“Yes. There is something on your face.” Mayu replied and stepped closer to Yuki.
“Eh? Do you have a mirror? I can't tell.” Yuki frantically touched her face. This time Mayu crouched down like Yuki. “Can you take it away from my face?” Yuki
added.
“I don't want to.” Mayu replied.
“Please get it. I don't want to look silly... Especially in front of you.” Yuki said shyly and averted her eyes away from Mayu. ‘Nice one Yuki! I'm sure Watanabe finds it cute.’ Yuki praised herself mentally.
“But I don't want to take away your radiance.” Mayu said. She threw away all her shyness just to tell Yuki the truth. Deep in her she wanted to run away after saying such thing to Yuki but Yuki's reaction was pleasant to see.
“!?” Despite the cold weather Yuki felt her face heating up and her heart started to beat fast. ‘Why? I hear a lot of people saying something good things about me especially my ex-boyfriends but I never felt like this.’
“Your face is red. Are you cold? Maybe we should go home already. We stayed too long outside.” Mayu stood up because her shyness was starting to come back to her but before she was about to walk Yuki grabbed her hand.
“I don't want to go home.” Yuki weakly said. Mayu didn't saw Yuki's face because the other girl turned her head down but she knew Yuki's mood went back to a sad one.
Mayu tightly held Yuki's hand and forced the taller girl to stand making Yuki face Mayu. Seeing Yuki's teary eyes made Mayu more determine to comfort Yuki. Mayu pulled Yuki into her arms and embraced her.
“Don't keep them to yourself. Let it all out on me without doubts because I will be always here for you.”
Not wanting to cry in front of Mayu, Yuki held the urge but Yuki's tear glands betrayed her as she heard Mayu's words the tears started to continuously flow out from her eyes. Mayu gently patted Yuki's back as her neck and shoulder got drenched from Yuki's tears.
As for Yuki, she didn't understand why she can cry this easily in someone's arms. Crying is one of the things she avoided to do. It makes her look weak and she hates to look weak. Yet she felt good being weak in front of Mayu. Crying was never been this comfortable and refreshing for her.
After Yuki's tears have stopped falling she stayed a little longer in Mayu's arms. “Are you alright now?” Mayu asked filled with concern.
“Not really but I'm feeling better.” Yuki answered. Mayu retracted herself from Yuki and gently wiped off the tears from Yuki's face as if Yuki was as fragile as a glass.
“Want to drink something hot?” Mayu asked. Yuki, who was blushing from Mayu's contact, nodded.
The two went to the nearest vending machine outside the school and sat in the nearby bench. Not saying any word, the two quietly drank the hot drinks they bought in the machine.
“I knew this would happen someday.” Yuki broke the silence.
“Huh?”
“My parents are filing for a divorce.” Yuki gazed at her cup with so much loneliness. “Our family was never a happy one in the first place. Their marriage was arranged for the sake of merging the business companies of their parents.”
“.....” Mayu just stayed silent and held Yuki's free hand giving it a small squeeze to tell Yuki she's there for her, telling Yuki to talk more because she's listening.
“I guess this is the best for them. They fight every time they saw each other and both are having an affair. Also, I'm so tired listening to their useless brawls almost every day.”
“I'm so tired of having sleepless nights because my head repeats the hurtful words they throw at each other.”
Yuki leaned on Mayu's shoulder and a tear fell down. “I'm so tired living as their daughter whom they always ignore. I'm tired of being treated that I don't exist in this world. I'm so tired of being a stranger in my own home.” Yuki cried once again letting all her pain flow out from her.
“Be strong Yuki. You can pass this obstacle. You're not alone.” Mayu encouraged Yuki while comforting the crying girl. “One day they will realize how stupid they are for ignoring such a great daughter.”
“Mayu...” ‘I became a bad daughter if only you knew.’ Yuki hugged Mayu tightly inhaling the sweet smell of Mayu. ‘It is nice to be comforted’, that was what Yuki experience that day.
The night was still young but was later than the time they usually go home from Kojiharu's shop. Even though Yuki doesn't to go home she needs to or else she will be sleeping outside.
“I will walk you home this time.” Mayu said.
“No, I will-“
“I will walk you home today.” Mayu said determinedly making Yuki awed with this kind of Mayu.
“If you insist.”
Mayu was true to her words and walked Yuki home. Their pace was the same but Mayu can see from her peripheral that Yuki was worried. For the 3rd time that day Mayu held Yuki's hands to ease the taller girl. Not just a simple holding hands though, Mayu intertwined their hands securely.
The time felt long but short at the same time. Yuki wanted to hold a little long Mayu's hand but unfortunately they have arrived at her place.
“Here we are. Good thing my parents are not yet here. It's embarrassing to let you see how broken my family is.” Yuki tried to laugh it off but deep inside it hurts.
“......”
“Mayu.” Caught off guard by being called by her first name without the chan, Mayu didn't saw Yuki's kiss coming.
“!!!?” The kiss was only in the cheek but it was enough to make Mayu blush.
“Thank you. You made me feel better and great by letting me cry and hearing my pain. And I'm glad to see your other sides and know more about you. I felt special because I know you only showed those to me especially the garden.” Yuki paused before continuing.
“I feel like I'm falling harder for you.” Seeing Mayu's stunned reaction, Yuki said a small good night then went inside her place feeling confused where those words ‘falling harder’ came from.
From her mind?

Chapter 7 Part 1
Today is the start of the final exams and the results will determine the outcome of who won the bet Mayu and Yuki agreed upon. Yuki confidently entered the classroom. She got a good early sleep but she is sure she studied more than enough to get high scores and get into the overall top 10 in their batch.
“Why are you so happy today Yuki?” A problematic Aki asked.
“It's nothing really. The weather is just great.” Yuki replied with a dazzling smile that irritated the two girls she was talking to.
“The weather made you happy? Did you forget that we will have continuous long exams today?” Asuka said.
“Of course not and I'm ready to take them anytime now.” Yuki replied. The two girls just looked at Yuki with a weird stare. As far as they know Yuki is also stupid in academics like them so for Yuki to say something like that is not the Yuki they know.
“Mocchi did you study? I didn't because I was too busy with my boyfriend!”
“We're on the same boat Akicha.” Finding the similarity in each other comforting, Aki and Asuka hugged each other in despair.
“The test will start a little later so instead of crying you guys should take this opportunity to study.” Yuki advised the two.
“It's too late. We will flunk this test for sure.” Aki and Asuka said at the same time. Yuki sighed heavily because of the two hopeless idiots. But the smile on her face was brought back by remembering what happened earlier with Mayu.
*One Hour Ago*
“Mayu-chan can I go with you to the garden today?”
“Eh? Okay..”
“Yatta!”
Feeling happy, Yuki linked arms with Mayu without any shame and cautiousness as they entered the school grounds. Yuki felt Mayu's discomfort but disregarded it. It's too cold outside anyway so Mayu should be glad with the additional warmth. As soon as they arrived Yuki released Mayu and went closer to the flowers. While admiring them an idea came up to Yuki.
“Ne Mayu-chan.” Yuki was now in front of Mayu.
“Yes?”
“Do you remember our bet?”
Mayu's face hardened upon remembering. “Yes.”
“The tests will start today and the results will be given this Thursday.” Yuki said.
“I know and I hope you didn't forget what you are supposed to do if you lose.” Mayu said.
“Of course but I will win this Mayu-chan.”
“Why are you so confident? You're not planning to cheat, aren't you?”
“No way. I will be answering the tests honestly I guarantee you that.” Yuki's confident face suddenly because shy. “Um.. But I need more luck and motivation so...”
“!?” Without any warning Yuki captured Mayu's lips which caused Mayu to widen her eyes and kept it open as Yuki lips rested on Mayu's. Even though Yuki also collided with Mayu's glasses it didn't stop her from kissing Mayu.
‘Ow. Her glasses are in the way but the hit is worth it because her lips are so soft. I couldn't wait to feel and taste more when we become together. Oh and I need to remember to watch out from her glasses.’ Yuki thought. When Yuki pulled away Mayu took a few seconds to digest what just happened leaving Yuki excited what would Mayu's late reaction would be.
“Wh-why d-did you do th-that!?” A flustered panicking Mayu asked and distanced herself right away from Yuki as soon as she recovered.
Yuki averted her eyes from Mayu, touched her own lips and shyly said. “Ehehe. I just wanted to have more motivation and a good luck kiss.”
“Eh!?”
‘That must be her first kiss. I'm glad I'm the one who took it.’ Yuki smiled brilliantly while looking at Mayu's expression. The usual emotionless girl was in front of her showing Yuki a great amusing reaction from the kiss.
“Well I will be going now. I really want to spend more time with you before the test starts but I need to review a little.” Yuki gave another kiss but this time on the cheek. “See you later my soon-to-be girlfriend.” Yuki whispered on Mayu's ear which made Mayu blush again.
*End of Flashback*
Aki and Asuka have been staring at Yuki who has been grinning like an idiot by herself for a while now while occasionally touching her lips.
“What happened to her?” Asuka asked.
“She's probably broken already.” Aki tried to give an answer.
“Because she didn't study too?”
“That makes the most sense why she's been looking like an idiot there.”
“Glad to know Yuki didn't study too.” Aki nodded in agreement and the two didn't bother Yuki after that for they think that it was Yuki's way to escape from reality.

Yuki's POV
The day began as usual, meeting Mayu early in the morning to walk together in going to school. Our walk was peaceful unlike the usual ones. I decided to be quiet today because Mayu's hours as single are now counted. The grades will be given today to determine who will graduate this coming March. But I don't care about that. My concern is the top 10 of our batch. I only have a month left for the last day of the bet Akicha, Mocchi, and I agreed on. I took up the long way to get Mayu's heart.
“Oi! The list of the top ten 10 is now posted at the 3rd year bulletin board! Let's go!” A guy shouted from the outside of the classroom. Of course I went out from the room after hearing that.
“Okay, here it goes.” I said to myself as I arrived to my destination. I had to push some people just to get in front of the results to look for my name.
Top 1 is... Not me but wow her score is 498! She missed 2 points. Top 2 is still not me but wow her score is 497! She's very close to top 1. Top 3 is Mayu! Amazing. Her score is 496. She's really smart. Top 4 is still not me but his score is 495. While top 5 got 494. This is crazy! Their scores are too close from each other! I'm starting to get worried. Top 6 is still not me. Her score is 493. Top 7 with 491. Top 8 with 490. Top 9 with 488. Lastly, top 10. My only hope! With the score of 486 top 10 is....
Huh?....
It's not me....
“You lost our bet.” A voice said from my back. I turned my head only to find Mayu smiling.

With the score of 486 top 10 is....
Huh?....
It's not me....
“You lost our bet.” A voice said from my back. I turned my head only to find Mayu smiling.
This is impossible! I was very sure with my answers! I need to see Akimoto-sensei!
“I will talk to Akimoto-sensei.” I said to Mayu. I want to know my rank this instant.
“You will only get more frustrated if you talk to him.” Mayu said but I ignored her and headed to the faculty room.
I can't believe I lost to our bet. I never lose my bets so I'm really mad right now. But I need to keep my cool or else I will end up shouting at Akimoto-sensei. I finally reached the faculty room and went inside only to be greeted by a smiling Akimoto-sensei. Why are the other people so happy today while I'm in a bad mood?
“Kashiwagi-san I was about to call you through the P.A. but I guess I don't need to anymore.”
“I need to talk to you Sensei.”
“Oh but before you tell me your concern let me congratulate you.“
“Eh?”
“Watanabe-san really worked hard and I saw the splendid outcome of her performance. You insanely improved your grades Kashiwagi-san. Congratulations for being the overall top 11 with the score of 485.” Akimoto-sensei happily broke the news to me.
I'm loss of words to say. My score is 485. Just one point behind the top 10. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING! I LOST BECAUSE I'M ONE POINT BEHIND!
“Sensei can I see my papers!? Maybe there are corrections. I might have right answers that were wrongly corrected!”
“Your respective teachers to the subjects will give your test papers later. If you have some questions then do so after you get it.”
“But I want to see my papers now!”
“I'm sorry but you need to wait so please be patient and follow the rules.”
“.....” I can't help but let out a sigh tiredly. “Hai. Please excuse me.” I told Sensei and took my leave.
Class started and I was able to see my papers and tried to find corrections but to no luck I found none. I couldn't find any flaws at all! Damn, I couldn't fool the teachers to consider my answers too. They are too strict! I only need one point! Why are they so greedy!?
Although I got a lot of praises, which I used to get a lot during elementary years, today from the teachers and classmates I'm still very upset with my ranking. I don't have a choice. I will ignore the bet Mayu and I made and start to be aggressive with my moves on her.
Just when I was thinking about her I received a mail from her to see each other at the rooftop. She's probably going to slap to my face that I lost....
Who am I kidding? That's impossible. Mayu is not like that. I know that deep inside she's happy right now but she will try to cheer me up because I lost. Mayu is a kind person after all. She showed that to me a lot of times during the tutorial and her part-time job but the kindest act she has ever done to me was cheering me up because of the upcoming divorce of my parents.
Remembering what happened that day always made me smile even if I was weeping that time. Strange, isn't it? I wonder why it always makes me happy. I admit I don't understand myself these days. I have been often feeling strange too but only around Mayu.
I arrived to my destination. I took a deep breath before turning the knob. I have been in this school for the past three years but I have only gone to the rooftop once. This will be my second time coming here. I finally stepped outside and saw how much the place has change since the last time I was here. In the past there were just benches but now there are already plants and trees. I wouldn't be surprised if Mayu actually likes this place. She seems to love nature.
The sun is about to set. Today has been busy. After the regular school schedule, we third years were forced to practice for the graduation ceremony. It took a very long time to finish the rehearsal today so we were dismissed later than usual.
I walked around the rooftop and realized that it's actually big. I walked further and saw Mayu standing at the farthest part of the rooftop watching the sunset. Another thing that wouldn't surprise me anymore. Mayu loves staying at the corners or somewhere very quiet, far from people but the place has beauty in it.
I stand beside her without saying anything and joined her watching the sunset. She took a small glance at me but went back to admiring the scenery. The setting was very peaceful, calm, relaxing, and I can't believe I will say this but the place is romantic too. I regretted not visiting the rooftop throughout my school year here. The sunset is too beautiful. You'll forget about the reality and get mesmerized how beautifully orange the sky is. It’s very very relaxing here.
“It's beautiful, isn't it?” Mayu said while looking at the sky while I nodded in reply. “I would love to always spend my lunch break here but couples often visit this place so I rarely come here. I'm glad the rooftop is empty today.” Mayu continued.
I looked at Mayu planning to only steal a glance but somehow my eyes can't return back to the sunset anymore. My eyes don’t want me to look away from her. It feels like looking at her is much better than the sunset. She is more beautiful than th- Wh-what the hell am I thinking!? Which part of her is be-beautiful? She looks like a big nerd! Calm yourself Yuki!
“The sunset can't seem to cheer you up that much huh and you're glaring at me too.” Mayu said turning her head to me.
“Eh? I'm not glaring at you. I swear!” I'm actually happy because I was right about her cheering me up and I know the sun has got nothing to do with my happiness... Maybe a little. And lastly, I was definitely not glaring at her. “I was just staring....” I said to myself and was gladly not heard by Mayu.
“You still looked troubled.” Mayu whispered.
“......” How can I not be troubled that I lost a bet for the first time?
“I was amazed that your grade drastically improved. From one of the failing students you suddenly became the overall top 11.” Mayu paused a little then she faced me. “I can't just ignore your great effort so, uh.. I'll give you a chance.” She continued.
“Really!?” A wave of hope appeared before me. Yosh! Don't mess it up this time Yuki!
“Really. Listen carefully.”
“Hai!” I eagerly waited for her words.
“Not dating with anyone until you graduate in high school remains but..”
“But?” What could she be planning? And why is her face red? Is blushing because of the sun or because what she'll say is embarrassing or maybe because the sun made me more beautiful than usual and her heart is now beating very fast?
“But.. Um.. Ano... I'm an exception to that.....” Mayu said slowly and her voice getting smaller.
Exception!? She's an exception to that rule!? Does that mean!?
“You agree to be my girlfriend?” I said in disbelief.
Mayu nodded towards the sun but she then turned her gaze towards me all of a sudden with her panicky voice “B-but only a w-week okay!”
“Eh? Why?” I whined for show. Only a week. If that's the case then I got to start thinking where I'll dump her before she dumps me and the bet will finally end with me winning.
Huh? This is weird. How come I'm starting not to feel well? My heart feels uneasy all of a sudden..
“Th-think about the bet ca-carefully. You technically lost and I shouldn't be d-d-dating you but here I am giving you a ch-chance.” Hm.. She's right and stuttering. Well, this must be very embarrassing for her to say. Seeing her like this is so cute-Teh! What are saying Yuki!?
My feelings changes so fast these days, really. At one point I'm happy then I become uneasy then later on I can go back to being happy. What in the world is going on inside me?
“Yuki-chan?” Mayu hesitantly called out my name. Not hearing any response from me must have made her more nervous. Action speaks louder than words so I pulled her to my arms and embraced her. She tried to struggle but it only made me hug her tighter until she finally stopped.
“Thank you Mayu-chan. Even though it's only a week this is very important to me. I will always treasure our times together as friends or not. But this time let me show to you how much you mean to me in a different way.” That's right, this week is very important to me. If I don't succeed I will end up embarrassing myself to the whole school. I need to sway Mayu's heart more and then I will get the reaction that I love to see when I dump her.
“......” Damn, the feeling of uneasiness is coming back again. Am I feeling guilty? But I have always done this and I never felt guilty or pain seeing people get hurt because of me. Something is really weird with me.
“!?” Mayu unexpectedly hugged me back. “Mayu..” I whispered her name.
“Ssssh. I-if you want to co-c-continue h-holding me then y-you better be quiet.” Mayu said as she buried her face on my shoulder.
The feeling of confusion came to me accompanied by the fast beating of my heart. Confused as to why I'm feeling this way at the moment. The feeling to not let go and stay like this with Mayu forever.
I can't possibly!? No! This is not possible! There is no such thing called love!

How Yuki would end it before their times running out is the most awaiting moment. Even it must be freaking hurt, it can't be helped because it's the turning point.

Chapter 8
It's been the 6th day since Mayu and Yuki started going out. The next day would be the last day for them to be lovers as what Mayu said. In the past few days they are always together alone. Yuki stopped eating with Asuka and Aki for that period of time and had always been with Mayu but hiding in the eyes of the people.
“Girls it's been awhile since we went shopping.” Yuki said catching the attention of her friends.
“Well now that you've mentioned it.” Aki said. “It has been a long time.” Asuka continued.
“How about we go tomorrow? Let's meet up after school at the fountain.” Yuki said.
“Why meet up? We can go together from here.”
“Yeah. We're on the same class anyway.”
“I have something to do so can you wait for me there?” Yuki said.
“Fine. Many people pass there since it's leading to the school gate. We can boy hunt while waiting for Yuki, Mocchi!”
“You're so smart sometimes Akicha.”
“Yey!” The two high five in high spirits while Yuki was not looking so good.
‘I'll end the bet tomorrow for sure. I need to dump her..’ This thought has been occupying Yuki's head in the past few days and at the same time it has been making her feel anxious whenever she tries to make some lines how to hurt Mayu in front of many students. But her anxiousness won't stop her from fulfilling the bet. There's no way she would allow herself to be photographed naked by the school's infamous perverted photographer Ohori and let the pictures spread throughout the school.

*The Next Day After School*
“Good afternoon Yuki-chan.” Mayu said as she sat next to Yuki.
“.......”
“Yuki-chan are you alright?” Mayu asked the absentminded girl who ignored her greeting. The two were at the usual spot in the library. Even if the finals was finished Mayu still studies and Yuki will always be there beside her to watch her girlfriend and try to steal some kisses from time to time to ‘recharge’ Mayu, who said she doesn't need those to keep up studying.
“Yuki-chan?” Mayu tapped Yuki's shoulders this time which seems to be effective as the girl jerked a little and was surprised to see Mayu beside her.
“Ah, Mayu-chan!”
“Is there something bothering you?” Mayu asked with concern filled her eyes which made Yuki's heart beat fast knowing that Mayu's concern was sincere.
“I.. Uh...”
“Problems with your parents again?”
“No. It's not them. I haven't been minding them lately.” What Yuki said was true. Her parents were fighting loudly as always but she was able to sleep properly. Rather than thinking of her parents, a certain nerd was filling her mind and dreams every day and night.
“Then what's bothering you?”
“...... Mayu-chan can you skip studying today and let's go to Kojiharu's store early?” Yuki said in attempt to change the subject and execute her plan to lure Mayu out and dump her where Aki and Asuka were waiting for her.
Mayu, on the other hand, assumed that Yuki wasn't ready to tell her so she brushed it off. Instead, she took Yuki's hand and placed a hard cold metal.
It was a small silver ring.
“Eh? What's this?” Yuki asked in complete surprise while inspecting the small silver ring.
“A pinky ring.” Mayu simply answered.
“Eh? Why?”
“Because it's White Day.” Mayu said while looking straight away from Yuki.
“White.. Day?” Yuki then gasped in surprise upon remembering the date. Also, she didn't expect to get something in return from her horrible chocolates that made Mayu sick.
“Thank you.” Mayu said. “For the chocolates.” Yuki felt guilty all of a sudden. She made those chocolates for fun that's why she sneaked a lot of weird combinations in the chocolate while Kojiharu was not looking. Yuki was not expecting gratitude like this, a pinky ring.
“You're too kind Mayu. You're not supposed to thank someone who made you sick. And a silver pinky ring. Isn't this expensive?” Yuki asked knowing well that Mayu's wage at Kojiharu's place is just enough to satisfy Mayu's daily needs.
“It's not expensive but not that cheap either. Just right.” Mayu replied and then turned her back against Yuki pretending to pack up her already-arranged things. “Besides, you took care of me while I was sick so you deserve it.” Mayu whispered to herself but Yuki's ears are very sensitive so she heard it.
“Mayu..” Yuki embrace Mayu from behind, startling the embarrassed girl. “Thank you.”
Yuki was indeed happy and grateful in receiving something from Mayu. Truthfully, Yuki doesn't really fancy jewelries. This is not the first time she received a jewelry from a boyfriend or girlfriend. In fact, she was given many but this is the first time she was happy to receive a jewelry. She knew where those gifts came from her past relations. It was from the money of the parents and it didn't gave Yuki any sentimental feelings. But from Mayu, Yuki knew Mayu worked hard for it that's why she appreciates it a lot. Mayu's feelings were inside the ring.
Mayu had a lot of second thoughts on what to give Yuki on White Day. As the day grew nearer the harder for her to make a decision. But her feelings were growing for the taller girl too. It was on a last minute yesterday that she had a clear-cut decision to give Yuki a pinky ring.
Today is the last day that they will be in a romantic relationship.
That fact helped a lot in making Mayu's mind clear of what she wants to give and do. And she needs all the courage that she can get to tell Yuki what's in her heart lately. That's why Mayu didn't buy only one but two pinky rings.
“Mayu-chan what are you clutching in your hand?” Yuki asked noticing Mayu's hand has been close for quite a while.
“Well...” Yuki broke the hug to give Mayu some space to talk.
“It's a pinky ring.” Mayu said showing to Yuki another silver pinky ring only that it is smaller than what she gave to Yuki.
“Eh?” Yuki was surprised to see another one. Just how much did Mayu exactly saved to be able to buy rings. Mayu couldn't even eat in a fast food chain because of her budget. She can only eat and cook with whatever she bought on a midnight sale with a large price down. It would be silly of Mayu to spend money on Yuki if she bought it because they are lovers when they are going to end that kind of relationship today. Unless Mayu is...
“I decide when we will end this since I won.” Mayu started and eyed the ring she gave to Yuki. It somehow gave Mayu the courage she needs as was feeling brave. She took the ring and held Yuki's left hand with care. “And it will be not today.” Mayu said giving Yuki a strong gaze that is filled with strong emotions.
Yuki was speechless. Not only because of what Mayu was saying but because Mayu was acting very different. Mayu looked so confident and determined. It's not the shy and the gaze avoider Mayu she knew. Seeing Mayu being like this made Yuki's heart pound harder than ever.
But Mayu's gaze was so strong that Yuki wanted to hide but at the same time not to because this is a rare chance to see Mayu's eyes like that. Yet Yuki was spared. Mayu turned her eyes back to the hand and ring she was holding. Yuki watched Mayu as she slowly slipped the ring on Yuki's pinkie.
“Mayu.” Yuki whispered. That's all that she could say. Her mind couldn't think of anything else but Mayu.
“Will you please put it on me?” Mayu asked Yuki while reaching out the smaller pinky ring to her. Yuki nodded and happily oblige. After slipping the ring on Mayu the two stared at each other's eyes.
“Yuki-chan.”
“Hm?”
“I love you.” Mayu said with a smile.
“I.. I love you too.” Yuki replied back naturally without any second thoughts. Yuki let her emotions control her and attacked those lips that uttered the words that made her heart and mind go crazy. A tear fell from Yuki's eye as Mayu kissed back for the first time. The kiss was filled with passion. It was not fast and slow. The two took their time and savored every second of the kiss. Not letting go and not holding back to release those feelings they kept inside.
*Beeeeep beeeeep beeeeep*
Mayu broke the kiss as she felt Yuki's phone vibrating. “Yuki-chan your phone.”
Yuki cursed in her head of who disturbed her moment with Mayu. But Yuki froze instantly seeing who messaged her.

‘The bet! I forgot about it!’ Yuki thought unbelievingly.
“Yuki-chan?” Mayu called out Yuki in concern. “Is everything alright?”
‘No! I was supposed to dump you right now but look at what happened! I.. I... Screw this!’ Yuki thought in annoyance.
“Everything's fine. Yup. Nothing to worry about. I just need to reply this one.” Yuki said untruthfully. She mailed Asuka an apology and just go because something came up and can't join them for shopping. After sending it Yuki turned her phone off.
‘Good thing I didn't tell them I was planning to end the bet today because I can't seem to do it. Not when I..’ Yuki took a short glance at Mayu who was looking at her worriedly.
‘Love her.’ Yuki thought sadly. How will she win the bet if she had developed feelings for Mayu? This is such an unfortunate for her. What tomorrow will come for Yuki if her feelings grow deeper?
“Yuki-chan.” Mayu caressed Yuki's cheek lovingly. “I'm always here for you no matter what. I promise.”
‘No Mayu. You will not. Not when I have to break you. You will hate me for sure if you really love me.’ Yuki thought otherwise.
But those thoughts went away as soon as Mayu closed their gaps willingly for the first time. Yuki let herself get drown from Mayu's love forgetting those complications she is facing. Only Mayu occupied her heart and mind. Nothing else.

Chapter 8 Part 2
Yuki's POV
“Thank you for your purchase.” I said with a smile as I passed a paper bag to the customer.
“Thank you.” The guy happily took the paper bag from my grasp. He ordered a personalized cake for his girlfriend. He must be thrilled to give it to her.
Speaking of girlfriend. Ah! What should I do? Only two days more until the bet's deadline and I haven't broken up with Mayu in front of people. Here I am slacking off and enjoying my time with her.
*Ring Ring Ring*
My phone rang and I answered it. “Hey Yuki~ It's Mocchi.” I paled a little hearing the happy voice of the caller.
“W-what's up?”
“There's a party at my boyfriend's house in two days and of course you're invited~” Mocchi said cheerfully.
“Great.” I answered half-heartedly. I'm in a mood for a party at all.
“Bring the nerd with you. I suggest you end the bet on that party. The guest needs entertainment.” I unconsciously clenched my hand. “Can I expect that Yukirin~? I don't want your naked photo being spread around the school but a bet is a bet.” Mocchi with a serious voice somewhat threatening me.
“I was thinking of doing it today but dumping her in a party sounds more fun.” I spontaneously lied and held my phone tighter.
“Ooh. Sorry to delay it for a bit. Party is on this Friday 7pm. Can't wait for you to dump the nerd. Bye Yuki~”
“B-bye.” I responded weakly. “What should I do?” I said to myself. I bowed my head feeling so lost. Should I let her go or not? Can I sacrifice myself for her?
“Yuki?” Mayu called out my name and found her beside me with new batches of cupcakes. “Are you alright?”
“I-I'm fine.” I answered but Mayu doesn't seem to be convinced as she stares at me. “I'm a little tired.”
“I'll ask Kojiharu-san to let you go. It's already late too.” Mayu said as she placed the cupcakes in their respective places.
Mayu convinced Kojiharu to let me off early today together with Mayu. Instead of me walking her home it was the opposite. We were going to my house first. Our walk was quiet after I talked about the part. Mayu was hesitant to go. I'm feeling relief that she doesn’t want to but that would leave me in a dangerous position. Mayu held my hand firmly making me feel guilty of my motives to be with her. If she knew for sure she will hate me forever.
“We're here.” Mayu said and faced me. “See you tomorrow.” Mayu gave me a short kiss before letting go of my hand.
“See you tomorrow.” I responded back. She smiled and turned away from me to go. I watched her back getting far and far. Somehow images from my recent nightmare flashed in my head. Me running towards Mayu but no matter how much I ran she is still far. Mayu became unreachable. I don't want that!
Before I know it I dash towards her and hugged her from her back. “Don't leave.” I ended up saying in a whisper.
“Yuki?”
“Don't leave me.” I said again clearer and hugged her tighter. “Don't leave me alone.”
“!?” Mayu gently break away from my hug. “Don't cry. I won't leave you.”
I’m crying? Since when did I?
Mayu slowly wipe the tears off my face. Her kind eyes made me fall deeper for her. “Your parents are not around?” I nodded in response.
“I can sleepover if you don't mind.” Mayu said caressing my cheek as I let myself lull into her touch.
“Please. Please stay with me tonight.”
Mayu kept her words and slept over. I watched her sleeping face under the moonlight. Her big ugly glasses were out of the way. Her beautiful face was exposed to me fully. If only she'll wear contacts and change her hairstyle then everyone will not call her a nerd. But it only means her beauty is not only for me. This kind of Mayu is better. I'll rather be selfish and keep her to myself.
I can't resist it anymore. I need to kiss her.
I relented myself and kissed the clueless Mayu in her sleep. But one was not enough. I dive in again to steal more and each time I go in my kiss last longer than the previous.
Finally feeling the assault, Mayu woke up and surprised to see me on top of her. “Yuki?”
“Mayu, I love you.” I said before I kissed her again and it felt better because she was responding. It was a slow but needy kiss. We broke it after a while. “I love you too Yuki.” Mayu said after the kiss. I felt so happy but I want to be happier. Tonight, just tonight. I want to indulge myself fully to Mayu before I...
“Mayu can I? I promise I'll be gentle.” I asked her. She was shocked and looked uneasy. “N-never mind. Forget what I said.” I backed out. I'm not going to force myself on her if she's not ready.
I was about to get off her but she pulled me down to a kiss, an aggressive kiss. It took longer and when we separate her eyes were determined. “Take me Yuki.” I didn't think anymore and let my body move on its own. I kissed her again at the same time removing clothes that are in the way.
End of Yuki's POV

Mayu's POV
It's nice to wake up seeing the person you love first thing in the morning. I smiled seeing Yuki's peaceful sleeping face. She had this troubled face the whole yesterday. She even cried when I left her in front of her house.
What is troubling you Yuki?
I caressed her face feeling the smoothness of her skin. I discovered last night every single bit of Yuki's body. Although it was very embarrassing to remember what happened last night I'm glad it happened. I got to be more connected with Yuki.
I was afraid at first when she asked me to do it. What happened to me at my last part time job still traumatized me but I saw Yuki's sad lonely eyes. I don't want to add more to it so I agreed. I must conquer the fear I had and replace it with Yuki's love.
“Mayu? How long have you been awake?” Yuki woke up.
“Just now. Ah, g-good morning.” I greeted awkwardly as I saw Yuki rose up and didn't bother to cover her chest. Of course I averted my eyes from her gifted chest after a few seconds. She stretched her arms and yawn like nothing happened. “Morning Mayu.”
Yuki got off from the bed completely exposing her naked figure and one by one picked up the clothes on the floor. “You can take a bath first Mayu and I'll lend you my uniform. Yours is awfully wrinkled.”
“O-okay.” I answered looking anywhere but her. It’s her fault why it’s wrinkled..
“Hm? Why aren't you looking at me?”
“W-what? I don't know what you're talking about.” I'm feeling nervous. She's smirking at me.
“Don't tell me you're embarrassed.” Yuki sat on the bed and still didn't bother to cover herself.
“.......”
“You're so cute.” Yuki hugged me in her nakedness and kissed my cheek. Of course I was immobilized by the physical contact. “I'll prepare something while you take a bath.” Yuki smiled and went to her closet and finally wore her underwear.
But is she cooking breakfast? Her chocolates were awful that I got sick so.. I wonder if I can still survive it.
“I won't make anything handmade.”
“Eh?”
“I just want to erase your fear for today's breakfast.” Yuki winked at me before going out from her room.
“How did she know?”
Yuki seriously didn't cook. We had cereals and milk for breakfast. After eating I washed the dishes while she took a bath. When everything was done we went out to go to school. But while Yuki was locking the entrance door her parents arrived.
“Yuki.” A woman in her 30's came with a man.
“Mom.. Dad.. Good morning.” Yuki greeted. The smile she had a while ago was completely gone and emptiness filled her eyes.
“Your friend?” Her father asked.
“No. She's my girlfriend.” Yuki said shocking her parents including me.
“!!!!???”
“W-what!?”
“You little kid. What are you doing having that kind of relationship with a girl!?” Her mother reprimanded but Yuki was brave and responded coolly.
“What's so good about dating guys when they keep on opposing you and won't try to understand you.” Yuki's mother froze but it obviously angered her father. “I love Mayu. At least I feel loved unlike you two.”
“But I'm actually surprised that both of you acknowledged my presence. Since when did the two of you cared about your only daughter and not fussing over your business?” Her parents were speechless and Yuki got ticked off with their silence.
“Let's go Mayu or else we will be late for school.” Yuki grabbed my hand and dragged me out from her place.
Yuki wasn't ashamed to be with me. She stood up from her parents and boldly declared that she loves me. Maybe I should trust her more and go to the party that she said.
