Having watched the majority of these videos, I must conclude they are much less interesting than last year's.
A lot of girls are going for a serious and plain video. There are barely any wacky ones and even most outfits don't stand out that much.
Aw well, all the more power to those who did try to do something special. Let's hope it pays off for them.

Fuji TV to live broadcast ‘AKB48 4th Senbatsu General Election’


On May 15th, Fuji TV announced that they will live broadcast AKB48’s ‘4th Senbatsu General Election‘ on June 6th. This will be the first time to live broadcast on a TV station.

This year’s broadcast will the biggest in their election history with a total of 237 girls (152 girls last year) from AKB48 and its sister groups participating in the election. They’re all competing for 64 open seats(40 seats last year).

Fuji TV set up the special program for the election titled ‘AKB48 4th Senbatsu General Election Namahousou SP(tentative title)’ from 7:00 pm on June 6th. They will broadcast a quick report of votes counted at Nippon Budokan, which is the election venue, and Odaiba Fuji TV studio.

At the studio in Odaiba, Fuji TV’s announcer will serve as host, and the celebrities who are well-informed about AKB48’s general elections, and AKB48’s fans will appear as guests. (Guest list will update later.) They will look back on previous elections and anticipate this year’s trend. On the border of the screen, they will display venue and prompt reports of the number of votes.

The cameras will cover the backstage of the election and air footage of the girls tackling this major event.

The program producer Hamano Takatoshi stated, “These national idol groups are a social phenomenon now. We will broadcast each of their serious expressions as they lay their emotions bare.”

We will be holding special tickets for 「Super long distance category」 for 「第4回AKB48選抜総選挙」 held on June 6 at NIPPON BUDOKAN.

【Qualification for Apply】
●People living overseas, and capable of proving the entry to Japan within 1 month. (We will be checking the entry visa in your passport at the reception.)
●Foreigners living in Japan will not be a qualification for this.
●People capable of paying in Japanese Yen at the live day.
●People capable of sending and receiving emails while staying in Japan.

【Application Process】
１． Choose the live day and apply by email. (Lottery is held)
Entry is held from May 22 to May 25.

２．Only the people who won the lottery will receive the email by May 26.
（Please have your PC be able to receive the domain name [akb48.co.jp]）
When not receive any email, your application is rejected by lottery.

３．Buy the ticket at the 「Super long distance category」 counter at NIPPON BUDOKAN on the day of the live. (Passport will be checked here)
※Purchase of the tickets is between 4:00pm to 4:30pm. The delay may be considered as cancellation.
※Wristband is provided when purchasing a ticket to enter the live.

I've made an interactive chart using google docs and its motion chart (posted it on pastehtml).
It has some cool features. For example you can track the members and see where they ended up etc.



For now it only contains the 2010 and 2011 senbatsu elections' data, but I will add this year's results too as soon as it's out.

I hope the GUI is not in hungarian for you guys. I couldn't change it anywhere in google docs, so probably google displays the chart based on where you access it from.
