Title: One-shots - Whiskey Kisses (NishiMieko) [13/06/16] - COMPLETED
Post by: Kid_Alpha on June 20, 2012, 10:31:06 PM
I'm not the best writer and it's a lot more difficult writing about actual people than characters they just played (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=32404.msg1022467#msg1022467).

Feh.

Juncture (SayaNishi)

===

The stadium was quiet, all the fans and spectators that had filled the seats had left; there was no noise save for the distant hum of machinery within the building, the muffled honking of traffic from outside and the chattering going on backstage with the staff members and other girls talking resoundingly; acting as the only source of energy in the empty stadium and giving off small echoes throughout the stagnant air.

Sayaka gazed up at the high ceiling as she sat in one of the few remaining chairs still left over on the ground floor, the events that took placed still buzzing through her head; it was really something unpredictable at the beginning and the tension continued right ‘til the end. Sayaka herself placed 20th , remaining within the UG group ranks but was in no such qualms about it, she was able to accomplish a lot the following year and it warmed her heart knowing so many people were thinking about her enough to give her so many votes; she was utterly grateful.

“Hey.”

Startled from her thoughts, Sayaka quickly dropped her gaze from the ceiling to the person standing in front of her.

“Oh hey.” The Team K captain happily greeted one Nakanishi Yuka, who quickly occupied the empty seat next to her.

Both girls sat in silence for a few moments, listening to the echoes of noise surrounding them before Nakanishi hesitatingly turned towards Sayaka to speak.

“Tonight was exciting, huh?” Sayaka responded with a small laugh, drawing a similar result from the girl next to her before answering back.

“Exciting is one way of putting it.” Nakanishi answered with her own hearty laugh.

“But it’ll be great to be able to work together, I mean, we’re in different sections but we’re still together so to speak.” Sayaka chuckled at Nakanishi’s obvious babbling, humming in agreement.

“It.. has been awhile, huh?” Sayaka paused for a response before continuing. “I hope this means we.. um.. get to work together more often because, well, I had mentioned that I’d like to performed Glory Days right?”

“Yeah, I heard about that! I like to see it.” Both girls shared a brief laugh before letting the silence engulf them once more.

“We should uh I mean, I want to.. be able to.. perform a um a stage unit with you.” Sayaka nervously proposed, unable to meet the other girl’s inquiring gaze.

“Uh.. really?” Nakanishi asked; a little surprised at the sudden declaration.

“Y-Yeah, it’ll be fun! Well, uh maybe.. we could do Tonari no Banana. You.. have said you’ve wanted to perform that, right?” Sayaka timidly faced Nakanishi, feeling a little bit bashful now.

“Yeah I’ve always wanted to perform that song; it’ll be fun to do it together!” That ever so present grin spread across Nakanishi’s face.

“It’ll be great to be able to perform with my rival once more.” Nakanishi instantly burst out laughing at that statement, especially when it was said so seriously.

“Rival? You still consider me one, what about Maria?” Nakanishi teased.

“Well, there are a few AKB members I consider my rivals but you’re still my ultimate, can’t lose to you even if you are in SKE.” Sayaka launched out of her seat, raising both fists in the air.

Nakanishi gawked from her seat before realizing she should follow along and following suite by leaping to her feet and raising both her fists; imitating Sayaka’s guise, “Of course, I won’t lose to you either!”

Both girls eased their hands down, facing one another, eyes gleaming with renewed admiration and determination; the moment was shattered with a high-pitched voice yelling out towards them.

“HEEEEEY! SAYAKA, NISHISHI!”

Startled out of their impasse, both turned to see the very own Genking bolting towards them as enthusiastically as ever before slowing down, stumbling somewhat.

“Isn’t this great Sayaka, Nishishi is gonna be working with us for this single! It’s gonna be like K4 except she’ll be in an AKB PV and get to do other stuff with us too! MAYBE WE CAN GO OUT AND EAT TOGETHER!” Sae, who quickly grabbed Nakanishi in a firm hug, spewing words a mile a minute as her excitement radiating off her, as usual.

Sayaka watched in amusement as Sae squeezed and twirled Nakanishi around like a humanized rag doll, after a few minutes she decided to be merciful and stop her other half; only to be captured in an immediate group hug.

“It’s gonna be so great you guys!” Sae yelled out so piercingly that echoed around the empty stadium, nearly deafening her two hostages secured in her iron grip.

Sayaka, used to the Genking’s antics, sighed before turning as much as she could towards Nakanishi who could probably sense Sayaka’s stare turned towards the other trapped girl. Both simply smiled at one another.

Without saying a word; Sayaka lifted her hand, curling it into a fist and after a few brief seconds, Nakanishi followed suite.

In a friendly gesture, both girls bump fists.

Decided to just use this to post my random one-shots that eventually happen.

If you haven't watched the Virginity drama PV then this probably won't make any sense to you so go watch that then come back to this (if you want)

===

Idiot (Jo x Airi)

He couldn't be any more bored than he was now unless being stuck in class counts though Airi was more than glad to be doing anything but taking notes, didn't make this situation any better with Yabushita, who was currently talking his ear off over something that he long stopped paying attention to. Even though he made it clear he wanted to be on his own for the time that they were spending at their school's Summer event, it sure didn't deter Yabushita from sticking to him like glue, unfortunately.

Sitting under the pavilion where everyone seemed to have accumulated, Airi could see Bizenjima's friends at the opposite end from where he was sitting, a somber feeling overcame him as he remember who wasn't here. He hoped she was doing well, though she never seem to show much emotion, he could tell she was upset the last time he saw her and he wondered if he was partly to blame. Airi would be lying if he didn't admit that he was a little frustrated that while he was sure he made his feelings known a majority of the time, Bizenjima still remained in the dark though he was absolutely sure she felt the same way.

As Airi continue beating himself over with his thoughts, he looked back up to see Bizenjima currently conversing with her friends...

What?

No way, Bizenjiwa was really here?! Happiness quickly overcame Airi's bitter mood.

Still a little stunned by Bizenjima's sudden arrival, Airi mulled over whether to go over and talk to her or remain sitting so as to not be a bother. He could see Kinoshita looking around before spotting him and pointing in his direction (he assumed), Bizenjiwa glanced to where Kinoshita pointed before making one last comment to her friends and began walking in his direction.

Internal panic was swiftly coursing through Airi's entire body.

Usually he was the one who would come looking for her so this change up was unfamiliar with him and he was at a lost of what he should do. Airi could see there was something different about her, usually she had this look of indecisiveness but now, she looked so valiant.

She stopped right in front of him; Yabushita, who he forget about was quiet as time seem to have frozen in this awkward moment.

Airi could see Bizenjiwa glance at Yabushita before returning her gaze towards him, "Can I have a word with you?" Airi wasn't sure why he felt so uplifted by that question but he didn't care, this time he was the one on the receiving end.

"Of course." Standing up immediately, Airi gave Yabushita, who was looking rather agitated though he HAD made himself clear but she never listened, a quick goodbye before following Bizenjiwa to wherever she was leading him.

---

For a popular weekday, Airi was surprised that the small walkway they had stopped at was so empty.

The both of them were leaning side by side against the railing, Bizenjiwa was still silent from the time they had left the pavilion to their current moment, he wondered if she was regretting calling him out, he hoped this wasn't the case.

Another moment passed before he heard mumbling and Bizenjiwa moved from her spot to stand in front of him, this new behavior was really bewildering to Airi but not un-welcomed.

He could see her hesitate when she unexpectantly leaned her head against his shoulder, he could feel his shirt being pulled, Airi looked down to see her hand gripping the fabric.

"I'm sorry, I was so caught up with my own thoughts that I didn't even think to consider your feelings. I know my ignorance must have caused trouble to everyone and especially you..", too stunned to move or say anything, Airi was sure he almost stopped breathing, he could hear her voice start cracking a little. "..I'm really such a idiot, that I can't even see the most obvious things in front of me, the truth is that I've liked you for some time but I didn't know what to do so I kept it to myself and thought nothing of it but I still caused trouble because I didn't realize that I was also hurting you, so please forgive me for being an idiot?"

Airi didn't hesitate, quickly embracing the girl in front of him and faintly registering the dampness on his shirt, he was sure he was also crying a bit but he didn't care; he had waited for this for as long as he could remember, the one-sided love he thought that would never be reciprocated.

"I don't care, I don't care; as frustrating it is, I like this side of you because once you make up your mind, it's always the choice you want and I've always admired that about you..." Faintly, Airi could feel Bizenjima's hands grasp at the back of his shirt as he paused to gather his thoughts, "..so I forgive you, you idiot."

After a few moments passed, both teens separated but kept a close distance with each other. Glancing over at the girl in front of him, Airi watched as she slowly composed herself, wiping away stray tears before returning her attention to him.

"So... what now?" In truth, Airi had no idea what to do either but there was one thing he wanted to know. "Bizenjima, if it's okay with you, can I call you Eriko now?" Anticipating her bewildered reaction, he watched as her eyes glazed over, lost in her own thoughts when she did something unexpected; reaching out slowly and gently taking his hand in her's, "It's okay, as long as I can call you Airi?"

Clutching her to his chest, Airi couldn't contain his joy, "Absolutely!", feeling Eriko's hands grasp his shirt again, they continued to embraced, at least until they were startled by someone yelling out "THE SNOW WOMEN HAS FINALLY MELTED".

I'm completely not confident in writing romance, angst is good but romance is always a little tougher. ._.

Sweeps

===

It was suppose to be a goodbye hug.

After walking home and spending a few minutes talking, they would hug and leave for their homes but for some reason, this particular hug lasted far longer than it should have.

Instead of separating as usual, they ended up leaning towards each other as their lips grazed slightly for a few seconds.

Later when Airi gave up on trying to concentrate on studying, he would find his thoughts going back to that kiss; the grip on his pen and the small hole he made rubbing the point continuously over the paper proved to him that he needed more.

===

It was already 12:46 at night but Eriko found herself unable to sleep, which was a problem as she had early morning practice tomorrow.

Grasping her pillow tightly in her arms, her mind kept turning over what had happened a few hours ago.

It was a kiss or that was a kiss right?

How was she suppose to know if she’s never done it before?

She didn’t understand anything at all.

But she was certain about one thing, she liked it, which was weird since she didn’t even like when her sister’s kissed her on the cheek jokingly to annoy her (or when her auntie did it blegh).

Though it was different because it was Airi and she liked Airi, groaning into her pillow, she wish she could just sleep already.

“Ahhhh the passion of youth~”, ever so elegantly echoed in the room as Eriko realized she had forgotten about the other occupant.

Yelling at her older sister to stop teasing her, Eriko pulled the covers over her head in a attempt to at least try and sleep.  Her very last thought before closing her eyes was the warmth she felt from Airi’s lips.

A/N: Inspired by this (http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9iwbnvdyp1ry1l90o5_1280.jpg) and listening to “Hanabi wa owaranai” non-stop also I still can’t write romance to save my life. orz

====

It was complicated.

They both had no recollection of how it started, but it just felt like they always were dancing around each other before they somehow ended up alone together; Kumi had wanted to go to the arcade as did Yuka but everyone else wanted to check out the shops, so they separated into groups and promised to meet up at the Ice Cream shop they always frequented.

After spending nearly half of what they had in their wallets, both girls decided to commemorate their great time by taking some photos before meeting back up with the rest of the group.

It was a bit cramped in the photo-booth so both girls squeezed as close as they could, Yuka swinging one of her arms around Kumi’s shoulders for more comfort. As each photo was taken, the realization of how close they were to each other started to suffocate them.

Through the soft whirring of the machine, both occupants slowly focused their attention towards each other, the small distance they had slowly shrinking even more before warm lips touched.

The loud sound from the machine signaling the final photo being taken startled both girls, separating themselves from each other before slowly exiting the photobooth; an awkward tension hung over them as they waited for their photos to develop, grabbing their copies and finally working up their nerve to look at one another, they realized they couldn’t go back.

—-

Pretending that nothing of significance happened between them proved rather difficult but with everyone so preoccupied with showing off what they had purchased, they were so far in the clear. Though throwing passing glances at each other ever so often didn’t seem to help the growing awkward predicament between them.

Back at their dorm while everyone filed towards their own rooms, both girls lingered behind at the foot of the stairs, still feeling the effects of what happened earlier.

“Kumi… about earlier, I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable and if you want, we can forget about it?”, the second those words left Yuka’s lips, she regretted it so much but what was she to do if everything was just in “spur of the moment”? She was startled out of her thoughts by the other girl’s small yell.

“No! I mean, it’s not like… I don’t want to forget about it…” Kumi trailed off and focusing on the steps they were occupying, Yuka hesitatingly moved closer to the other girl, gently lifting Kumi’s chin to look at her.

Closing the short distance between them, they shared a brief kiss before slowly pulling away.

Opening their eyes, they gazed at one another as a smile broke out onto both of their faces.

—-

That was the start of what they could say was a secret relationship; whenever they could steal as much time alone together; to share a brief kiss or just hold each other, they never said anything to their friends. It wasn’t like they wanted to keep something from them, they just wanted to keep this time to themselves for now.

There was a moment where they were almost caught, saying goodnight to each other, ending it with a quick peck on the lips which quickly switched to a more lasting kiss and nearly giving themselves a heart attack but able to separate from each other when Masana exited out of her room.

Hiding their secret was becoming quite a chore but they would both never admit openly they liked the thrill of “sneaking around”.

It wasn’t until after Jurina had excitedly told of the couple she had saw on her run one morning that they both had decided to try and define what was it they were sharing together.

Sitting on Yuka’s top bunk, listening to the alarm clock on the desk tick away, their hands interlocked, the silence was comforting before someone decided to break it.

“Kumi, can I ask you something?” Yuka quietly inquired while the other girl lifted her head from where it rested on the other’s shoulder, ”Yeah, what is it?”

Hesitating, the older girl decided it was now or never, “What..what is it about me that you like? I mean, why me?” Kumi watched as Yuka slowly shrank into the hoodie she was wearing, grabbing the other girl’s hand that was pickong at her uniform, waiting until she looked up before answering, “Do you remember when we had to play Lacross for P.E. once and when they put you in to play, you were incredibly horrible,” both girls shared a quick laugh before Kumi continued, squeezing the older girl’s hand for good measure,” but you laughed it off and just kept smiling through it all and I guess, I was so enamored by how you were then.” Yuka couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed by that past experience but it was what Kumi said next that shocked her, “…also I couldn’t help but think that, your smile was really beautiful.”

Now, both girls embarrassed by what was said, Kumi decided to try her hand.

“What about me, what do you like about me?”

Gathering her thoughts, Yuka pulled Kumi in for a hug.

“Remember when we were watching that movie in town once? It was pretty bad but we were sitting next to each other and half-way through the movie, you fell asleep,” Kumi let out a small laugh as she tighten her arms around the other girl’s waist, “I remember thinking how incredibly lovely you looked.”

Extremely embarrassed now, both girls just laughed out loud in the empty room, falling against the pillows prop up against the wall of the bunk bed.

As their amusement died down, they gazed at one another, sharing what would have been a brief but soon became a heavy kiss with Yuka hovering over the younger girl. Whatever that may have come after was interrupted by loud chattering from the hall before the door swung open, the only two occupants in the room had quickly separated though hiding their extremely flustered faces from their friends.

—-

It was getting close to curfew, but everyone wanted to see the view from the point at the hill. To Kumi and Yuka it was the perfect time for them to finally admit to their friends that they were and are dating.

After almost being caught a couple of weeks ago, they decided that it was best to not hide it any longer, they preferred having their moments without the potential heart-attacks.

The view was always beautiful from and for the girls, one of their favorite parts about this town, they always tried to make the time to come to the area whenever they could as a group.

Seeing the city lights against the night sky was such a breath-taking scene, as everyone was busy being captivated, a certain couple were busy psyching themselves up for their small announcement.

After spending some time admiring the view, the girls decided it was time to hurry on back before curfew ended or they would have to have their ears yakked off by their DA.

It was now or never.

“Hey guys.” Everyone stopped leaving to focused on Yuka and Kumi, who looked a bit uneasy.

Taking a small breath for reassurance, Yuka continued, “You see, me and Kumi… we’ve.. we’re.. uh..” “We’re dating.” Kumi quickly in, seeing her girlfriend falter as both girls awaited their friends reactions.

“Oh, we know.”

“What?”

Perplexed by this new set of information, both girls sported the same goofy look before Rena decided to save them.

“We already kind of knew, it was obvious a little, we just figured you guys wanted to wait until you were comfortable enough to tell us.” She finished with a small shrug of her shoulders, the rest of the girls responding with their own sets of agreements and nods.

Yuka, being the one more flabergasted by this turn of events had only one thing to say, “Oh, how anti-climatic, I nearly lost 10 years off my life from that.”

Everyone couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the older girl’s disappointment.

“Hey, I have a question.”

Turning to the youngest of the group, Nanako stared questionably at the couple.

“I want to know how do you kiss another girl cause there’s a girl in my class that I think is really cute and I want to kiss her but I don’t know how to—” Manatsu quickly stopped the torrent of words flowing out of Nanako’s mouth as Kumi and Yuka stared at the younger girl, baffled at the current situation thrown at them.

“I think it’s best to ask them another time, NanNan.” Manatsu hastily explained before removing her hand, giving her friends a small apologetic smile.

Churi turned to the couple haugtly, “It was bad enough when we had to explain to her what you two were up to alone, now this, you guys better explain to her instead this time.”

While everyone laughed off at Churi’s comment, both girls sported deeply flustered faces all the way back to their school dorms.

Sorry if I suddenly end up spazzing but I really, really, really, REALLY like love the way how you write! Maybe it's because of that that no matter what pair you write, I still end up liking it! This is my first time hearing about NishiKumi, but I must say, I don't regret ever reading this. And don't say that you can't write romance! Though simple, and even without a background about this pair, I still had my fuzzy feelings in my chest- which, by the way, is a great sign of me fangirling. "orz

Urgh, I should just shut up. Sorry if I hardly made any sense. "orz

TL;DR: I LOVED IT. THIS PAIR. THIS SHOT. EVERYTHING.

I'll be waiting AND crossing my fingers for more shot updates from you! ;_;

It may sound kind of out of place and selfish but... I hope you'll write something about the Province Buddies someday, though I'm just hoping. xD /slapped

@itadakimasu: Thank you thank you, it really means a lot that you like my writing~ ; 3; And yeah maybe I will write a Providence Buddies one-shot (or a series since I love them so much) /o/
But who knows~

@masokun: It helps when I tend to ship Nishi with nearly everyone; with Jo and Airi, it was inevitable, I had already loved their interactions in G+ vids and in Virginity, it was too much  Oh how I would love to write a NishiRikki one-shot but I wouldn't know where to start, especially with Rikki since I don't think I would be able to get her personality down. orz

Serenity

A/N: Wrote this for someone on tumblr ha ha

----

”RAWR.”

A terrible beast stomped through the streets of the small town, causing destruction as it ran rampant.

Such a terrifying beast, no one would ever believe he would be under control of such a delicate girl as the one who currently was perched on his shoulder.

“Yeah, go Poriishan!”

For such a beautiful girl, to see her control a destructive monster was rather frighting.

“Rikki, what are you doing?”

Suddenly there was no beast, no destruction of a small town or a young women controlling said beast; no, just a young women with a small toy.

Rikako had arrived early to the Sakae building for a meeting with Yuasa-san for usual purposes blah blah blah and since practice would start soon, she figured she would stay and wait it out.

Of course, she got a little bored and resorted to playing around though Rikako didn’t count on being caught by one Nakanishi Yuka.

As Rikako gazed at Yuka with a blank expression, she turned back to Poriishan and the makeshift town she made with some water bottles.

“Reeking havoc on unsuspecting citizens.” She said it so seriously that Yuka couldn’t help but laugh before moving in from the doorway to the seat next her Captain.

A comforting silence settled in the room as Yuka played on her PSP and Rikako took to “destroying” another city.

“Oh no, who will help save us? I know, what about the dashing hero, maybe he can charm the young lady into sparing us. What do you say hero?” Feeling an intense gaze burning into her, Yuka paused her game to see that Rikako was leaning heavily towards her side and waiting for an answer from the “dashing hero”.

Not one to disappoint but drawing a blank on what to do, Yuka leaned forward and pecked her on the lips.

After a few seconds and not seeing a reaction from Rikako, Yuka began to regret her decision before a small squeal scared her and said girl launched herself at her in a tight hug.

“And the dashing hero and beautiful girl fall in love and the day is saved.” The Team Captain kept a tight grip on Yuka, hiding her blushing face against the other girl’s neck.

A few moments had passed and she had still not let go.

“Um Rikki?”

“Yes~?”

“I’m gonna fall over.”

Quickly letting go to have the other girl straighten herself out, Rikako kept her hands clasped on Yuka’s, entwining their fingers.

“Hey, Nishishi?”

Both girls stared at their hands grasping each other.

“Hmm?”

“Do you like me?”

“W-what?” Jumping back in her seat but still keeping their hands together, Yuka tried to make out words while keeping her embarrassment to a minimum.

“W-well… er” Before she could answer or try to, Rikako leaned over and pecked Yuka on the cheek.

“It’s okay, I don’t need an answer, just having you here with me is enough.”

I tried. 6 ヮ 9

Thank you for saving the day, dashing hero! :D You've just got yourself a beautiful girl, and I mean it.

Love Rikki's childishly cute antics here. Rawr--- Poriishan in action!

But erm.. what does the word 'serenity' refer to in the fic? The comforting silence and the few passed moments between them?
Because I thought it's not all serene.

Ah thank you everyone for commenting, sorry this was so short but I didn't want to make a really long one-shot and I'm still not sure on how to get Rikki down in writing.

@aruka Well, sure it was pretty chaotic in this little drabble but I guess it was more like how Nishishi's and Rikki's relationship always seems pretty pretty compatible in a way that it feels that they don't really need so much words or actions to prove their bond, anything they do together just feels right.

Yeah idk >_>;;

---

Akane watched as staff buzzed around the room, setting up for the broadcast of SKE's weekly web show, HapiHori.

She was excited, pretty damn excited since she never got to appear before unlike other members.

Even Rena-san got to be on a few times!

So yes, Akane was very excited and looking forward to whatever was I stored. From what she was able to watch from past shows, it definitely would be fun.

The door of the room opened to reveal the usual trio further reminding Akane of what was to come, she could feel her heartbeat increase with anticipation. Airi immediately rushed over in excitement at being able to finally have her good friend on the show, the other joined them and the four ha a small chat before the start of the broadcast.

---

"Hey, why don't we do a confession scenario?"

As Kanako's suggestion got a unanimous agreement, Akane could feel  herself grow increasingly anxious with each passing second. It wasn't that she hated doing these type of things but that she really didn't know how to properly do them.. and they were really really embarrassing.

Akane pulled through at least, at least with Airi it didn't feel so awkward and with Kanako, it was some way harder but not so bad. She just hoped the heat from her face didn't show too badly, it was bad enough with how she kept stumbling over words but just one more and they could move on!

So why was it as soon as she faced Nakanishi, her heart started beating crazily and the heat from her face increased so much Akane was sure she could pass out.

As she struggled to even formulate words, keeping eye-contact with the other girl grew impossible as she looked anywhere but Nakanishi's (intoxicating) dark brown eyes.

With every once of strength, Akane pushed out the words to end the suffering.

With the segment over, the broadcast moved on normally but Akane couldn't let what happened to her go; why had she reacted that way with Nakanishi?

It was a question that would plague her for the rest of the night and the following day and the next with a extra problem as well.

---

What ended up happening was a week of immense teasing at Akane's expense.

She should have expected it, she really should have.

It was unbelievably relentless from the time she entered the theater till she left but even then, she was teased over the other members'  blog posts.

It was even worse whenever Nakanishi and her were even in the same room. How the other girl was able to play it off so well was a mystery to the team captain, she either had more patience than Akane or was a saint.

Either way, it was a long week.

---

Though the teasing had died down considerably, Akane was still the butt of some jokes though she could live with it as long as she could feel anything but embarrassment whenever with the other members.

After a long practice session and everyone leaving, Akane decides to stay behind. She still needed to clear her head, she really didn't have time to think with all the embarrassment that was preoccupying her mind.

Why had she suddenly reacted that way to Nakanishi? It couldn't be that she suddenly had feelings for her, she would have noticed.. right? Did she develop a crush obliviously on Nakanishi without her knowing, and why did it suddenly become known to her?

This was starting to give her headache.

Well, Akane had always thought that Nakanishi was rather good-looking and sometimes even cute. But that shouldn't be enough to warrant a crush, what else then?

Was it how kind Nakanishi was by helping out staff and other members including herself? Or that whenever Akane caught sight of the other girl smiling, her chest seemed to ache or those times that she would sometimes buy her snacks if she missed lunch?

Or how Nakanishi was anything other than just really wonderful and warm that Akane couldn't help but just gaze on from afar because she was being held back from whatever that was intimidating her from getting close?

Did anyone else notice it, did Nakanishi know?

Way too many questions were rushing around in her brain, Akane was too preoccupied to notice the sound of the door to the practice room opening.

Nakanishi Yuka was going over some schedules with her manager before deciding to leave for home. About to grab things, Yuka realized she had misplaced her jacket and briefly wondered where she left it before remembering it was in the practice room.

What she didn't expect to find was Akane huddled in the middle of the room. She seemed so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't even notice Yuka open the door or enter the room.

Not wanting to startle the other girl, Yuka moved quietly to where she sat before gently calling out to her.

"Churi?"

Akane jumped slightly before looking over he shoulder to see the person that had been causing her so much distress.

Concern flashed across Yuka's face before she rushed over to Akane, her hands cupping her face and her thumbs wiping away tears she hadn't notice, "Are you okay?"

Akane tried to search for any sort of words in her brain as she took several shaky breaths, "It's.. well, it's like..".

Sensing how distressed the other girl was, Yuka wondered if the week had taken it's toll on Akane. She was already used to teases and jokes since it was practically an everyday occurrence but Akane had been dealt with a sudden barrage so it must have bothered her, right?

"Hey, if it's because of what everyone's been doing, they don't mean any ill-will. Don't be upset, if you want I could speak-"

"N-no, it's not that." Akane interrupted Yuka, trying to not think of how sweet it was of her to go out of her way to make her feel better.

"It's just that.. after HapiHori, I found that maybe.. I d-do like you..."

Definitely not expecting this sudden confession, Yuka remained silent as to what to do next.

It took every bit of courage Akane could find that hadn't disappeared since Yuka made herself known though she really couldn't help the tears that were already running down her face. She immediately buried her face into the other girl's shoulder, hoping to hide from any further embarrassment.

Feeling so useless, all Yuka could do was wrap her arms around the sobbing girl in some form of comfort to hopefully help. Her heart felt so heavy.

Footsteps from down the hall could be heard by Yuka though if Akane noticed she made no notion when Kumi entered the room and paused at the door. Yuka turned towards Kumi and brought up her hand to make a shhhing gesture.

Yo, been gone because dry spell but here's something new for you also working on a project.

All Messed Up

---

[Present]

It was an unusually calm night.

The kind where you have this need to stare up at the sky and count the stars, even if you mess up and have to start all over again.

Everything just felt okay.

Maybe, the pain won’t really go away, but after so much time, Yuka felt that the hurt had softened somewhat.

Airi had come over to visit and they spent most of their day watching anime and playing video games, funny how a few hours seemed so short but it must of been a good thing if she was able to have fun and be distracted for so long.

So now, both Airi and her sat outside on the balcony of her apartment, the cool night air having a calming effect on them both. They hadn’t said much of anything since first coming outside other that a few insignificant comments, their relationship didn’t require them to always be so talkative and it was one of the things they enjoyed about their friendship.

Yuka closed her eyes and for once felt relaxed.

She knew the pain of heartbreak wouldn’t last but there was always that small little bit of pain that she would tuck away behind her so-called tough exterior, the pain of first love was never gonna go away but it wasn’t something that she needed to continuously beat herself over.

Taking a deep breath, Yuka breathed out what she felt was probably almost a year’s worth of stress and tension off her chest.

She knew she was gonna be alright.

—-

[One Month Ago]

Yuka sat at her desk in a daze, it had been nearly a year since her break up and she was sure she was getting better but she’d still would find herself get caught up in these small moments of distress.

It was 2:30 in the morning and she really just wanted to sleep, she really needed to finish this paper for her English class, which was about a paragraph away but she no longer could will her fingers to continue typing.

All she could think about was the immense pain in her chest and the moment still fresh in her mind that always replayed late at night, catching her off guard and causing some (or a lot) of restless nights.

Running her hands through her hair, she tried to calm herself but to no avail.

Now all she could think about was that small box stuffed in the back of her closet, containing possessions she should have returned but didn’t because she’s too much of a coward to force herself to meet up with that  person.

Her paper long forgotten-she would finish it in the morning, Yuka moved away from her desk and collapsed onto her bed, pulling the blankets over her head.

She reached under her  pillow and pulled out a wrinkled unwashed shirt, a shirt that wasn’t hers, a shirt that was left and forgotten and should have been returned but wasn’t.

As she brought the shirt up to her face, a familiar scent wafted through her nose, making her heart clench even more and her eyes itch with unshed tears.

It was almost a ritual since the break up and something that seriously needed to stop but she just couldn’t because she was a coward and just didn’t want to forget the memories regardless of how painful they were now.

Yuka fell asleep after a few moments, still clenching the shirt to her chest.

Airi was in a state of absolute distress.

She didn’t know what to do, Yuka was currently stuck in one of her bad thought chains and her panic continued to increase as she watched her friend’s expression grow more darker by the second.

It seemed that even the smallest of things could trigger some kind of bad nostalgia and Airi never knew exactly what to do if it was particularly bad.

She was never good with her words and judging from the giant lump stuck in her throat, there was no way it was gonna change now. So she did what she always did and that was try to do something that would make her friend smile.

Airi just hoped that it wouldn’t make things worse.

She searched through her bag for one of her markers and grabbed Yuka’s hand, turning it palm-side up and began to draw.

The result was her little character, Chibi Airin, with a little speech bubble saying that she loved Nakanishi.

It probably wouldn’t help but as Airi timidly looked up at Yuka’s face, she could see her staring at her palm before directing her gaze towards herself, Airi choked back a sob.

She always felt that her friend’s smile was the best, a smile that would reach her eyes and make you smile alongside her.

But now, she could only see a half-felt one across her face and her eyes didn’t hold the same light they usually did.

Though, as Yuka quietly thanked her, Airi hoped that eventually that through time her friend’s smile would return.

[Three Months Ago]

She wasn’t sure how long she had been sitting on that bench, overlooking the river though not really looking at anything in particular.

It must of been awhile, the cold wind biting her exposed skin, her face and hands burning.

Though, the emotional pain that was still churning and burning in her chest and head hurt more than her potential frostbite.

“I think it be best for us to break up.”

Why?

Why would it be best?

Best for who? Because surely not herself if she was feeling so devastated right now.

She should of known though, Mieko had been acting off lately but she was too afraid to ask if anything was wrong.

Guess she was right after all.

Maybe she was actually lucky then.

Lucky since she never got her chance to tell Mieko that she loved her, so if she had done it anytime prior to this, she would’ve just been a major idiot.

But, now she’ll have to carry this empty love around and it was already beginning to painfully ache.

Yuka shut her eyes, she had cried so much that it was beginning to sting.

She really needed to leave and start on home before she worried anyone.

As Yuka slowly stood up, rubbing her legs from the cramps from sitting down for so long, she look up at the darkening sky before heading off.

“I love you, Mieko.”

—-

[Four Months Ago]

Airi felt like she would have a breakdown from the all the tension she could breathe in alone from the air.

Something was wrong, it was painfully obvious but she was afraid of asking either of the other two occupants in the apartment.

If nothing was done soon, she swears she would puke.

From her friend’s apartment hallway, she peeked into the living room to see Mieko sitting alone with an expression that screamed anything other than happy.

Maybe it be best to see Yuka instead, as much as Airin liked Mieko, she couldn’t help but feel slightly frightened whenever her mood was anything other than sunny.

Quietly making her way to the apartment kitchen, she peeked around the corner to see Yuka standing in a daze, looking out the kitchen window.

Airi’s heart made a painful lurch in her chest, she desperately wanted to cheer her friend up but found herself frozen and her voice lost.

Would it be really okay if she did this?

Would it be okay if she interfered in someone else’s relationship? No, she wasn’t interfering, it wasn’t like she was trying to convince them of anything, she just wanted to cheer her friends up but..

Why did it feel like she was intruding then?

“Airi?”

Startled, Airi looked up to see her friend’s questioning gaze on her.

“What are you doing?”

Laughing at bit, which Airi was glad for, she could still see the pain her friend was trying to hide even though they both knew. They couldn’t really hide much from each other, secrets weren’t common between them, they found themselves comfortable enough to be open with one another.

But as of right now, they both were too afraid to say anything for fear of just making everything worse.

—-

[Five Months Ago]

Today was a good day.

Even better since there was hardly a crowd at their cafe.

Yuka’s last class for the day had ended early so she had decided to make her way towrds the usually meeting spot, sending a message to her girlfriend about her arrival.

It was unusually for her to feel so elated, she never had before though maybe finally beating her first dragon in Monster Hunter came close. That took 2 weeks, it was tough, it really was! Though Airi seemed to have only taken about like 10 minutes to do the same. Show off…

But not important, what was important was the revelation she had come to last night.

It was pretty corny but what was life without some cheese, right?

Siting at their usual table right next to a window, Yuka sipped her coffee, watching people go about their business outside as she desperately waited for her girlfriend.

Her cell vibrated on the table and she snatched it up quickly to see a reply from Mieko that she was here. She looked over at the cafe entrance to see her girlfriend walk through the doors making her way towards her.

Before any greetings were exchanged and said, Yuka felt a slight chill go up her back.

She could feel her good mood slipping slightly, why did she suddenly feel so anxious?

Trying to cover it from showing it up on her face, she tended to wear her heart on her sleeve, Yuka pushed down the nagging feeling in her gut.

Their time at their cafe went pretty normally, though Yuka couldn’t shake off that something was wrong.

—-

[Six Months Ago]

She was glad unbelievably glad that her best friend and her girlfriend could get along so well.

A little too well.

She shouldn’t be jealous of her girlfriend calling her best friend her boyfriend.

No but it still made her jealous, she was Mieko’s boyfriend.

No, girlfriend, girlfriend.

Okay so all those years of being made fun of for looking like a guy was starting to mess with her head.

Airi and Mieko looked over at her before busting out laughing, they were really enjoying how much they could annoy her it seems.

Mieko dis-tangled herself from the other girl before wrapping her arms around Yuka, kissing her lightly on the cheek.

“Are you jealous?”

“No.”

“Liar.”

“Mmmmaybe….”

They both shared a laugh until their quiet moment was broken when Airi squawked and they looked to see her pointing at an nearly empty arcade.

Mieko looked at Yuka to see her face lit up and giving her those puppy eyes she knew she couldn’t resist.

Even though they’d probably be there for who-knows-how-long she’d let them have their fun, she enjoys seeing them so excited.

She watched them speed off into the small building, following at a more normal pace.

Mieko silently watched over them, happy that they could enjoy themselves so much.

But, even with this happy moment right now, she couldn’t help but think of the small little sense of anxiety burning at the back of her head.

—-

[Seven Months Ago]

Airi watched as her friend poked and prodded at her food, they had been siting in their school’s canteen for nearly half an hour but Yuka had yet to even eat one morsel of her lunch.

She couldn’t be upset could she, she thought her date last night went great?

So, what was the problem then?

Sipping her lemonade, Airi worked up her nerve enough to finally ask the most obvious question.

“So, how did your date go last night?”

Yuka dropped her fork the second the question ended, Airi felt like throwing herself out a window.

Those few seconds felt like a lifetime that Airi was sure she would have a heart attack when her friend looked up at her with disgustingly sparkly eyes.

“It went well.”

Airi didn’t know whether to cry or hit Yuka for scaring her so badly but overall she felt immense relief that she wouldn’t need to throw herself out a window anytime soon.

“Okay so, if it went well then why are you acting so.. like this?”

“Because I have a second date.”

“Shouldn’t that.. be a good thing?”

“Yeah, except I’m terrified…”

Airi laughed slightly, her friend could be really cute especially when she was like this; though she was no expert on relationships or love, pretty sure manga and anime wouldn’t really help solve their problem either.

“Okay, let’s go ask Kanako-san for advice then.”

Feeling excited about their plan, Yuka scarfed down her lunch while Airi finished off her lemonade.

—-

Browsing her neighborhood’s local bookstore was always a treat for Yuka, even if she did work there, she loved being able to get the time to look through the books on her own without having to worry about her boss yelling at her to get back to work.

Grabbing another volume of a newly released series, Yuka made her way towards the register when she took a passing glance down an aisle to see a women struggling to reach a book on the top shelf.

Quickly making her way to help, she set her pile of books down on a table display before reaching up and grabbing said book for this women.

“Is this what you wanted?”

“Yes, thank you.”

Handing the book to the stranger, Yuka could feel her heart slightly flutter from their smile.

“No problem.” Great, even dimples too, she hoped she wasn’t gawking too badly.

“Do you work here?”

“Yes, but it’s my day off and I’m just getting some things.” Trying to act nonchalant was becoming increasingly hard with how shaky her voice was sounding with each passing second.

The stranger glanced beside Yuka to the pile of manga next to her, “Is that all yours, think you have enough?”

Growing even more embarrassed, Yuka felt it was best to think of a way to end this conversation before she self-combust.

“Ah well, maybe…”

The stranger’s laughter was just as bad as her smile.

“Um.. I need to go since I have to meet up with a friend of mine, it was nice talking to you.” Yuka stiffly turned around, mechanically picking up her books and began walking out of the aisle.

“Wait.”

Before Yuka could fully turn around, the stranger had reached up and placed a lone book on top of the stack in her arms.

“Forgot one.”

“Oh thank you…” The strange women only smiled before swiftly leaving, Yuka stood rooted where she was.

She was lucky she had such tanned skin or she was sure her face would be glowing red.

After standing like an idiot in the same spot for a couple of minutes, Yuka purchased her items and headed to pick up her friend at her work.

The more distance she grew from the bookstore, the more she felt a little upset over possibly never meeting the strange women again.

She was really beautiful.

So lost in her thoughts, Yuka didn’t realized she had walked past her destination until she heard her friend yell out for her to wait.

The rest of the night was left with slightly forgetting the stranger but there was that small inkling in the back of her head of that smile and disappointment would flood her head and chest.

Though that disappointment was short lived when Yuka returned to work the next day and the said appeared before her asking to buy a light novel and what time her shift ended.

Just a short drabble inspired by this (https://plus.google.com/114397630658650917209/posts/ZeG4Fw1czzA).

Whiskey Kisses

---

”Tea?”

“Yeah, I have work early tomorrow so I can’t drink tonight.”

Mieko snickered into her glass, mumbling a tease towards Nishishi, who of course heard her but let it slide lest it turn into a small banter argument with her losing as usual.

Sipping their drinks, it was never needed for these two to ever really speak as much since being in each other’s company was comforting enough, even if Mieko could be a bit of a chatterbox.

As the sound of ice clinked together from melting, Mieko noticed how Nishishi kept rolling her shoulders, “Your back bothering you?”

“Hmm? Oh kinda, my lower back has been aching a bit but now my shoulders have been bothering me lately, guess I’ve been pretty high tension considering the past week.” Nishishi explained while she continued to roll her shoulders to alleviate the pain.

“Here.” Mieko scooted closer to Nishishi, putting her hands on her shoulders and giving her a massage.

“Oh, hey, you don’t have t-” “It’s fine, you’ve been working hard all week with everything so, shut up.” Mieko quickly quipped Nishishi’s argument, knowing the other girl would never willingly admit to her problems.

It was like pulling teeth with this one.

About 10 minutes later, Mieko figured it was long enough and pulled away, going back to her drink, Nishishi silently thanked her.

Few more seconds of silence passed when Mieko decided to speak up again.

“I know you have work tomorrow, but have you ever tried Whiskey before?”

Nishishi looked away before returning her attention towards the older woman, “Once when I was younger, my older brother tricked me into tasting it by telling me it was soda.”

Both women laughed at the thought, Mieko at picturing a younger Nishishi and Nishishi over how stupid her brother was but she loved him.

“You don’t want just a taste?” Mieko tilted her empty glass towards Nishishi.

“Taste what? You finished it already.” Nishishi gestured at Mieko’s drink.

“You can suck on the ice cubes?” “I doubt I’d get any out of that.”

Mieko paused for a moment, Nishishi thinking they were done, returned towards her own unfinished tea.

“Okay, well how about this?”

Nishishi turned back only to have chilled lips meet hers’.

A few seconds passed before both women separated, Nishishi leaning her head against the table, embarrassed, as Mieko returned to her drink to chew on the ice cubes.

“So, how did it taste?” Crunches of ice could be heard before Nishishi picked up her head and turned towards Mieko again.

“Bitter, I don’t like it and seriously, warn me when you do that.” Mieko chuckled, careful not to choke on the larger pieces of ice.

“You’re such a baby.”

“Hey…”

Lol I know that had to get your juices flowing.  Great one shot unfortunately I cannot do justice for your oshi.  She is quite an interesting character in watching vids of her
