@TOZ: For the past few weeks I've been trying Radiant Historia. It was created by Atlus, the same company that created the Shin Megami Tensei series games. Here's a trailer that pretty much sums up what the game is about:

What they forgot to mention was that most enemy battles start when you make contact with them. You actually have a chance to strike them a few times, temporarily disabling them. It gives you a chance for a pre-emptive strike, which can help in forming the combos mentioned in the trailer. The battle system is turn based, but you can change the order in any way you want, even switching your turn with an enemy. There is a risk, however, that the enemies will attack the character that made the change, and will receive more damage before the turn change. Later in the game you will gain the ability to break the enemy's turn using "Mana Burst". Each character has a mana gauge that fills up when attacking, chaining combos, and taking damage. Once it filled up, you can use a "Mana Burst" attack.

Ok I'm gonna make a guess here before not even watching it. Most of them will say Mario.

*EDIT*

Ok so Pacman then. Evelyn Lin showing herself as being awesome as expected.

A ton of new info on the new Tomb Raider game, and it sounds pretty cool!

The new Tomb Raider sounds cool. I was interested when I first heard about it, but all the new info has me looking forward to it.

I saw another video at a porn convention asking performers about what games they play (Was it posted here?). Almost everyone said Mario, except Bobbi Starr who said Zork, Plants vs. Zombies, and something else.

I went onto COD4 multiplayer last night after a friend invited me, only to be brought into a hacked lobby with each kill getting me 3000XP and plenty of dumb bots to shoot with infinite ammo for it. Backed out of that shit and tried a normal Free for All game, 3 times actually, all of them hacked in some way. It's only after I switched the damn thing off that I realised that COD4 and MW2 multiplayer is just hacked to bits now, and Activision/Infinity Ward can't do anything about it cause there are just so many people doing it.

How did it come to this? COD4 multiplayer is classic, widely regarded by others as being classic, yet people ruin it by hacking? The biggest problem I have is who on earth goes along with it? Great, you got 10th prestige level due to illegitimate means, doesn't mean Megan Fox is going to descend from the sky and onto your lap. As I've said before, prestige level holds no weight in COD, it's not an indication of skill. People who wind up doing this are shit players anyway. And if they want to pay (PAY!!) hackers 800 MS points to get into one of these lobbies, then more fool them.

*EDIT*

Eurogamer did a retrospective on the Die Hard Trilogy for the PS1 and it brought back some great memories of that game. I remember it being one of the first ones I've ever owned and loving it.

Since the first DLC was released recently and I have the game itself since release day, I thought it was time to finally give it some attention: Castlevania - Lords of Shadow.
Took me some time to get used to the fixed camera. The first hour or so I constantly found myself trying to fix the camera angle with the right stick XD
So far I like it, the voices of Patrick Stewart and Robert Carlisle are a treat.

Finally got my paws on Tales of Phantasia ~Full Voice Edition~ for the PSP. I can't wait to start playing!

Also, really tempted to buy Patapon 3 as well...oh, my budget for this month...

Looks better than the original, straight-to-DVD movie!

On that fighting game related note, Soul Calibur V has been revealed

Quote
The game, set 17 years after Soulcalibur IV, features guest characters, Project Soul producer Hisaharu Tago told Christian Donlan for Eurogamer.

The main character is Patroklos, son of Sophitia. Patroklos is "inspired" by the gameplay of Sophitia, but is "sharper" and "more agile". He has new moves, but they're all inspired by Sophitia's.

V takes the Siegried ending of IV and builds upon it. Seigfried, now 39 years old, no longer wields the Soul Calibur sword.

V is described as a "generational shift", complete with new characters, but SCIV characters will return. "SC 1-4 was a continuous story," Tago said. "We want to make a generational shift with a new story this time."

The Soulcalibur series is famous for the inclusion of characters from other universes, such as Link from The Legend of Zelda and Yoda from Star Wars. Will other non-Soulcalibur characters feature?

"Difficult question," Tago said. "We will have guest characters as we did with Star Wars. Please stay tuned for more information on that."

V marks a shift from two-handed swords to short swords, Tago announced. The story includes "the enigma as to why the swords have become short swords".

The game's new fighting style is described as "lighter, sharper, and more elegant". The online mode has been improved with new features. "Gameplay in IV could be a little heavy, particularly when you were online – we wanted gameplay that was more fast and reactive," Tago said.

On the shift in gameplay: "Maybe the hardcore fans will be afraid that we lose the core of the gameplay, but that's not the case. And for new players it's nice to have gameplay that is more continuous – you don't need to wait as much between moves.

"There is quite some change in the gameplay from SCIV. The pace of the game has been improved, and the combos will be easier to perform, and the moves will be easier to pull out."

Elsewhere, Tago confirmed the create a character feature from previous games in the series returns, but refused to divulge details.

Namco Bandai is yet to show actual gameplay, but promised more information at E3 next month.

And this, I guess is concept art? It was posted on the producers twitter, so it's legit!

Wow, I actually remember Patroklos from Sophitia's story. He also has a sister. I wonder if she'll become a fighter in a future SC game.

Can someone recommend a game that is similar to Indiana Jones and the Infermal Machine for PC?

Me and a friend are trying to help a colleague find a new PC game to play and we've already suggested her a ton of games and we're running out of ideas XD

Oh and the most obvious choice Tomb Raider has too much fighting and not enough puzzles for her taste.
Fighting is ok, but it should be easy and puzzles and exploration should be the main focus..

Never played it but from what I see it's a third-person action platformer much like Tomb Raider or Uncharted, but she wants more of an emphasis on the adventure side of things?

I think the best example I can think of would be a Zelda game. It's got the right mix of action and puzzle solving in each of it's dungeons. Or even Lego Indiana Jones! Those Lego games tend to have an emphasis on puzzles and simplified combat. Maybe she would like to shy away entirely from that kind of genre and go for an adventure game? Professor Layton is all puzzles or you can get something a bit more story driven like Phoenix Wright or Hotel Dusk. Or you can get something like Broken Sword (my all time favourite point and click adventure game) on the iPhone for dirt cheap.

First 15 mins of LA Noire gameplay Now I have an idea on what that game actually is! Looks great, the facial animation is as stunning as seen in the previews. :o

^^ Thank you Tuffty, these are all awesome games, but she only has a PC.
Sorry, I didn't make that clear enough in my post (edited a bit now)
If she had a console there wouldn't be such a problem to find a suitable game for her XD

Btw is there a pc version of L.A. Noire planned?

Ah right, I can see how that might be awkward then XD I'm not so up to speed with PC games I'm afraid. Along the adventure game route, I guess you can go with a Telltale game like Back to the Future or the Sam & Max games. The only game that comes to mind with something like TR on PC would be Alice. Heard good things but I can't verify that.

There are no plans for a PC version of LA Noire at the moment, or so a Rockstar spokesman has said.
