I think ZBIII had a damn near perfect flow throughout the album. Pop, noise, funk, rock. It did it all and it was all really good.
I think there's a disconnect between the synth ballads that open and close ZB4 and the funk-noise that's in the middle. Both sides are good but I wish they had been able to connect them somehow.

its kinda sad to say, but its hard for them to top ZBII, the overall 'feel' and comprehensive theme in that album is still one of their/the best, maybe inazawa's to blame.

as for ZB4... what can i say, the band *coughmukaicough* has moved on to new directions, ZBIII was the test run, this is 1st gear.

im still not used to the finer bass playing of yoshida, "wankster fagget" may not have been the most impressive, but at least it had more 'personality'

Agreed, I think ZBII is their best. It's the most consistent. ZB4 is great though. I really like all the simple synth stuff now after listening to it for a while, and watching this > http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm4152423. The sound works well with the structured playing of Yoshida and Matsushita; kind of a contrast from the previous rhythm section. That said, I still like "wankster fagget" just a tad more.

The Drifting / I Don't Wanna Be With You is quite the winner.

Thanks for SCLL Stryfe.
I only downoaded it minutes ago and had a cursory listen but it sounds great.
I do wish they could have added a bit of variety though instead of having all the songs downtempo/melancholic.
A few songs reminicent of Lilli Disco or some of the uptempo songs on For Installation or Trace would have made the album even stronger, IMO.
But at the very least it's cohesive in tone and consistently solid throughout.

How is the MO'SOME TONEBENDER album? I'm kinda eh about them since they put out that last album.

New Straightener + Ooyama of Art-School

I guess Ooyama pulled a Hinata and left Art-School for Straightener.

Holy shit, thanks for the heads up boykun. I haven't checked the official site for a while.

It seemed like a really weird way for him to join the band, but then they have about 10 years of history together. Things should get a lot more interesting from now on with an extra guitarist.

You know I'm lost as hell when I don't even know there's new te' stuff.

Thanks lots!

I need to find some kind of blog or website to keep me updated with new releases. I've been going crazy with rss feeds lately. :P

I'm not that big of a fan of te' or anything, but the new album is pretty darn good.

It's like they switched to a more varied and faster sound. Rather than the slow, boring, poorly written stuff off of the last album.
