Actually Western bands do this also. I mean look at Slipknot and their masks or Kiss and their face paint for example.

^ Everything we see nowadays in Japan has been done (long) before in some form, be it visual kei (Ziggy Stardust) or Ladybeard (Dee Snider), to name a few.
From the seventies, a lot of rockbands started to make use of gimmicks to be more distinctive, like the above mentioned Kiss (makeup), Iron Maiden (Eddie) and ACDC (schoolboy outfit).

However, the few girls rockbands that gained popularity over the years (I can think of The Gogo's, The Runaways and The Bangles right now) were remarkably gimmick-less, probably because being all female was enough to stand out.

Right now in Japan we see an explosion of girls bands over the last decade. Maybe Bandmaid feel the same urge to stand out just as male rockbands did (and still do) in the west, just like a lot of idol groups have some sort of gimmick to stand out from the crowd, with Passpo being a prime example.

So anyone else received their Pop'n'Power? I have to say the packaging is really well done. The covers and booklets are really nice. If anyone were just discovering the group and were looking for a "best bang for your buck" purchase, I would recommend this in a heartbeat. 40 of their best songs (well, 39. Fairy tale is in there

) + about 15 videos along with all that City hall footage, all in HD. But enough with the stuff we already know...

I got a package from Amazon Japan today consisting of only Pop, the Band-Maid album, and an album of another idol group that whose name won't be mentioned right now (which I bought mostly because their latest single inexplicably comes with a full live show blu-ray). Apparently if DHL's tracking is correct, I'm supposed to get Power tomorrow, so I wasn't planning to open Pop until then (in retrospect, I have no idea why they didn't ship them together considering it's only a 1 day difference) . . .

I don't know what that is in regards to Passpo. The only Guso Drop I know is the idol metal group.

Not sure why, but as I remembered it it was only a few songs on the BD's since it's most (all) I'll be getting it with my next amazon order (was at Tower records but didn't buy them there, I might as well save).

Apparently the people I talk to on twitter don't or are indifferent. Although I did inadvertently get a couple of people there to like PASSPO☆.

Also it's not really a costume, it's more like a bear hoodie that they never take off and just wear clothes over it.

And although it is a hoodie, they also wear those bear gloves (which are very cozy btw). So I regard it as costume

PASSPO will present their new single already on Decembre 20, at a free show. Let's see if their will be changes because of the new label behind them.
