I thought you were going to talk about his movie King of Comedy (which really should be named King of Actor or something)

I bought the DVD of Kung Fu Hustle at the beginning of the year.  Its just now being released in my country in the cinemas this week.  I might go watch it again just to see SC glory on the big screen.  :)

I'm a big fan of his.  Every chance I get, I will make a joke referring to memorable lines from his movies.  Heh, yeah, I'm a dork.  You don't know how many times I recited the lines of "Jeung Bao" from Shaolin Soccer.

As of right now, my favourite movie of his is Hail The Judge.  It may change if any of his future work exceeds the comedy level of that film.

I've only seen Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, and Fight Back to School. I've been meaning to check out a lot more of his stuff. It kinda sucks though because there used to be a shop that sold a shit load of chinese movies a half an hour from my home, but they suddenly closed down a little while ago.

Just watched All's Well Ends Well, pretty mad stuff there heh.  And Maggie Cheung goodness  :D

But I didn't find Kung Fu Hustle very funny.  He's done way better stuff in the past.

^ I'm kinda iffy on him doing the Special Effects kung fu stuff. His classics was when he was doing like 7 movies a year. So many cheap gags...where to start. Like how about the one with Andy Lau where he cons him to be his long lost brother!??! That was the shit. I gotta seriously dig out soundbites and video clips...

There are a TONS of Stephen Chow movies I could recommend esp. the old ones, comparing them to his recent CGI stuff, they seem real cheesy but that makes them EVEN FUNNIER. He was making like over a dozen films A YEAR! the scripts were horrible, but it was the inside jokes u had to get...

Still. His physical humor is worth watching if you don't understand Cantonese. Like Tricky Brains keeps coming to mind. Here he plays this con artist who is hired to play a joke on Andy Lau (aka the Canto pop star and Infernal Affairs dude with no facial hair)

See him pretend he's gay with AIDS, reference his old kiddie show, break out into Canto Opera and vaudeville act....one of his best movies!!

(http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/1022/schowd024rz.th.jpg) (http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=schowd024rz.jpg)(http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/5436/schowrd060kk.th.jpg) (http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=schowrd060kk.jpg)(http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/4954/schowrd097em.th.jpg) (http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=schowrd097em.jpg)(http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/6835/schowaids026be.th.jpg) (http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=schowaids026be.jpg)

And the fuckin best thing about Stephen Chow is that he hires all his buddies so you can see them throughout his movies. Like Man Tat, who hails from waay back in his TV days and is always like his dad and stuff.

and Lee Kin Yan, the blatant cross dresser that appears EVERYWHERE...even in those San Miguel CMs!! :lmao:

WOW. Kung Fu Hustle is leading the way, nominated for 10 Golden Horse awards:
http://film.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/Guardian/0,4029,1595627,00.html

A fan of Hong Kong movie star Stephen Chow has admitted he illegally kept his idol's lost identification card, according to local media and a court document seen Thursday.  (http://www.canada.com/national/nationalpost/news/artslife/story.html?id=abe083a9-c904-4edd-ac48-0b4d13973938)

Currently, I'm watching his old TVB serials. Justice of Life (Ta loi ji kong wu); the whole character of "Ah Water" exemplifies what makes Stephen Chow so great. His "son of a bitch, playah, jackass" attitude. Then he just breaks out into Canto Opera. GENIUS!! XD XD

wow retro.

i remember when I was rewatching the really old but classic Legend of the Condor Heroes 1982 version he appeared as an extra, a random begger that gets killed after 5 seconds of screen time.  It was so hilarious, I was like "hey wow there's Chow...hey he died"  ah the man is funny even when he didn't mean to be.

^ I KNOW!! Just one look cracks me up...in "Justice of Life" he's like trying to woo Teresa Mo, and he just gives her a ice cream sandiwch and considers that treating her to lunch "Women jun yee tum (are easy to woo)" he snickers!! My hero! :w00t:

He may be typecasted but he's a pretty good actor. That whole Tom Hanks thing...Sing Yeh has to do more dramas if he wants to do the Jim Carrey thing.

I'm itching to see some of his "darker" cop stuff like this one directed by John Woo:

Ng Man-Tat Said He Would Reunite with Stephen Chow in KUNG FU HUSTLE Sequel (MonkeyPeaches Exclusive)

October 23, 2005

Ng Man-Tat who played the second leading role in all Stephen Chow’s movies since 1989 and did not show up in Chow’s latest hit Kung Fu Hustle. Reportedly, Chow did not ask Ng to join the project even though Ng made himself fully available. Last week Ng Man-Tat told Taiwanese media that he had put the unhappy incident in behind and had begun talking with Stephen Chow for joining the planned Kung Fu Hustle sequel.

Poor Man Tat. he practically begged to be in Shaolin Soccer too. My cousin said they used to hang out all the time in the Metrople Hotel before they made it big. The whole TVB series "Justice of Life" previews what chemistry they have ...and no other co-star has equalled that yet.

i think stephan chow wont be as funny as he was back during the day. its simply because he is aging. u just dont see that childish side of him in his later movies. when he was in his prime, he was able to be more wacky and dumb. thats the reason i liked his actin back then.

i recommand u guys check out his dramas during the 80-90s. they were all very funny. he had great sense of humor back then.

Kung Fu Hustle was actually below my expectations, I guess because everyone else had been hyping it up, so my expectations was quite high. Yeah, I find his older movies funnier because he was way more wackier and the jokes are much dumber/funnier. Tricky Brains is an absolute classic (he works so well with Andy lau), and I also love the 007 and 008 movies. The 'evil gun' and the dissecting alien parts will stay in my head forever.

nobody's mentioned God of Cookery!! that has got to be near the top of my list for stephen chow movies!! anyways.. quick summary.. stephen chow is like the god of the cooking world, [hence the title] but he actually cant cook and uses gangster relations and money to buy out the other chefs.. but then he is betrayed by his partner [ng man tat] and becomes a poor man living in the red light district of hon kong. there he meets some gangsters and they invent a new product called pissing meat ball by combining the pissing shrimp and the meatball.. it sells very well and he earns the right to compete for the god of cookery title. but first he goes to china to find a cooking school which turns out to be a shaolin temple.. there he learns kung fu and cooking and wins the competition.

anyone with screencaps or other stuff please post since i have none..

Good Of Cookery is the shit! It's at least as good if not better than Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer. The scenes with the Shaolin bronzemen were hilarious

Hmm... I wonder if I still have that movie.
Title: Stephen Chow - KING OF COMEDY
Post by: smoothee on July 06, 2006, 01:29:24 AM
hmm another one is god of gamblers 2.. which also features andy lau and ng man tat.. andy and stephen made a great comedy combo but ndy has moved on into "serious" acting

the story is on stephen and his uncle [ng man tat] and how stephen has a special power that allows him to see through things and to change things.. so his uncle tries tog et him to enter the gambling world by becoming the apprentice of the GOD of gamblers [chow yun fat] *although he doesnt appear in the movie* and they try to reach him by talking to god of gamblers disciple, gambling warrior? [andy lau] and many funny moments ensue but these gansters who want revenge and try to use gambling warriors name to trick money of rich people on a gambling boat and so stephen and andy must try and stop them by winning against them although the gansters have set up the boat with cameras and mircophones :P

eheh this is a really good movie and id reccoment it to all stephen chow fans.. theres also:

god of gamblers [starring andy lau and chow yun fat] it has no stephen chow so i wont talk about it in this thread

saint of gamblers [starring stephen chow and ng man tat] this explains the history of how stpehn got into gambling]

saint of gambling 2 [stephen chow gets transported into the past and meets people from a tv show]

ye.. all i can remember atm.. there are numerous spoof movies that use the god of gamblers name so look wisely!!

Stephan Chow is truly the King of Comedy, i had been watching his movies since I was a kid with my parents.  They love his movies.  They call him the master of "no sense" comedy because sometimes in the movies he does thing that makes no sense, but still hilariously funny.  Kung Fu Hustle is one of my favorites.  I also like the Royal Tramp 1 and 2 very much.  Also the Chinese Odessey pt 1 and 2.  the Fight Back to School trilogy was cool, but i liked the first one best. God of Gamblers 3: Back to Shanghai was a very good one for me, But check out the other god of gamblers as well, even the one without Stephan Chow because they're that good.

well. it was one of his earlier movies i think? but yeh.. not as good as per say.. the fight back to school ones.. but then agian.. i dont think kung fu hustle and shaolin soccer are THAT great.. i liked traditional stpehn chow without all the special affects and stuff.. cuz the comedy was more real? but in this age.. every movie needs some FX i guess..

I just hope the next generation will be able to appreciate his work as much as we do currently.  It'll be tough though cause some of the younger kids might not understand the cultural references he makes or may not have seen the movies he parodies.

He's working on a new movie...from MonkeyPeaches.com (http://www.monkeypeaches.com/)

Chinese newspaper Southern Metropolitan Daily got four shots taken on the set of Stephen Chow's new production   Chang Jiang Qi Hao  /   Long River 7  (Rumor says this film's English title is "A Hope".) now in production in eastern Chinese city of Ningbo. Chow plays a semi-homeless man lives in a semi-demolished house. He "adopted" a homeless kid, who is really played by a girl. One day, Chow finds a "toy" in the trash and brings it back to his "son", who wishes to own a toy just like other kids. The "toy" is actually an alien device with unlimited power and the aliens are desperately to get it back.

Yesterday, Stephen Chow and a few other cast and crew members, including co-star Lam Chi-Chung, who played Chow's sidekick in Kung Fu Hustle. showed up at a tall build under construction in Ningbo City. Don't know the story behind it, but the Sina.com.cn reports Chow or a stunt double will jump off from the 11th floor.

He is THE comedy king of our generation of HK'er (even overseas in USA/canada/europe/where ever), age from 20 something - 3/40 something

Funny little bit, i remember as a kid (about 8 or 9 yrs. old), i attended one of those TVB children's program ("403 Jet Plane") in a concert hall, little "Sing Chai", as he's know before he made it big, was already interacting perfecting with the kids and making them laugh and having fun!!  He's definately our favorite 'big brother' to play with on the games =)

I've seen all, if not most of his movies. Mostly slap stick humour but does work on most people. :D He's really a good actor and is respectable. Shaolin soccer and Kungfu, his blockbusters from like a couple of years back blended with special effects are really cool. Gotta love the Axe Gang dance! :pimp: There was also this old movie from the God of Gambler series (Ace of Gamblers?) where he has this ability to change cards by rubbing it between the palm of his hands. That was way cool back then! :ONcool1:

Love Stephen Chow's movies and so does my family.  He is such an incredible comedy actor.  we watched most of his movies and TVB series back in the day.  He is also a great dramatic actor if need be. love his movies, especially Tricky Brains, the saint of Gamblers series, royal tramp 1&2, Hail the Judge, The Back to School trilogy, the Chinese Odysessy 1 and 2 were both funny and sad in the end.  so as Justice My Foot! for some part. Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu hustle were great but we loved his prior works more.
He really deserves the title of Hong Kong's King of Comedy.  his style of comedy is unique and different from other kind of comedy u see.
rite now, the movie i want to watch most of his is Flirting scholar, watched years ago and totally lost the video somewhere.  been looking for it since.

I love his stuff. I'm glad he's not bailed to Hollywood and he's sticking to what he knows best. Although due to the success of his last few films in the West at least it means he'll be able to get hold of a lot more cash for making the film :D

MonkeyPeaches also quoted a summary of the plot that appeared in a Chinese newspaper: Chow plays a single dad who loses his job and gives his son a toy he found in the trash ... except the toy turns out to be a powerful object from another planet.

Stephen Chow consults for "Shaolin Girl" in Japan

Quote
BEIJING, April 8 -- Japan's Fuji TV has invited Hong Kong comedy star Stephen Chow to be a consultant for the new movie "Shaolin Girl" starring Japanese star Kou Shibasaki.

Stephen Chow enjoys wide popularity and a high reputation in Japan, especially for his movies "Shaolin Soccer" and "Kung Fu Hustle."

Oriental Daily reported that the movie is expected to begin shooting in the middle of April and finish in three months in Japan. Hong Kong actors Lam Chi Chung and Kai Man Tin will join the crew in Japan on April 16.

Chinese actress Zhang Yuqi, the latest actress selected by Stephen Chow to star with him in his movies, might not be able to join in this Japanese movie because she is engaged in another movie.

Publicized as a mixture of Hong Kong movie "Shaolin Soccer" and Japanese TV drama "Pride," the movie is about a girl who adopts Shaolin kung fu in playing ice hockey.

Stephen Chow Directing Seth Rogen's Green Hornet!

This is a dream come true for Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg! Stephen Chow, the Chinese director known for Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle, will star in and direct The Green Hornet. For the longest time, Chow had been rumored to be Rogen's top choice for the character of Kato, the Green Hornet's sidekick. But now we learn that not only will he take on that role, but he's going to direct the film as well, which might just be the best news we've heard all month! I was already looking forward to seeing Rogen's take on the Green Hornet, but now I'm sure this is going to be something truly great. Bruce Lee previously played Kato on the classic TV show, but now it's time for Stephen Chow to step in.

In a previous interview with ComingSoon, Rogen explained that his version of The Green Hornet is "a very intense action movie and the relationship between Green Hornet and Kato, a lot of comedy comes from that." He mentions that they weren't sure whether they wanted a Kato with more humor or not, but decided "in the version that we've made it seems like a Stephen Chow type guy would be more suitable for the role." Hence why this is a dream come true for Rogen, and for all the fans, because this means Green Hornet now has the potential to turn out incredible. Anyone who has ever seen any of Chow's previously films (including CJ7 earlier this year) knows that he can perfectly combine comedy and action.

I've been excited for The Green Hornet from the very beginning, even knowing that Seth Rogen wrote the script and that it would be more comedic. I think there's just something refreshingly unique about this entire concept and I like that he's bringing back a character that really isn't too well known. I was nervously waiting to see who they'd choose as a director, because that could really make or break this project. But Stephen Chow couldn't be a more perfect choice. Even though I didn't love Kung Fu Hustle, I feel like he's one of the only directors who could really do this film justice. The release date is still set for June 25th, 2010 and we'll be sure to follow this project closely as Rogen and Chow prepare to shoot.

Stephen Chow No Longer Directing Seth Rogen's Green Hornet

Although it was already officially announced in September that Stephen Chow was set to direct Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's big screen Green Hornet movie, he has apparently stepped down citing "creative differences" as his reason for leaving. Chow will still play Kato, Green Hornet's sidekick, but won't have any involvement in directing. Columbia Pictures and producer Neal Moritz are currently searching for a new director to replace Chow and expect to have a new one announced by the end of the year, which is only in just a few more weeks. As far as we know, Sony still wants this in theaters on June 25th, 2010.

While we probably won't ever hear the real story, I expect that the studio really wanted something more audience friendly and accessible, while Chow didn't. He's a great director (Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle, CJ7) but I think he joined this with a different agenda than the execs. Given this is also Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's passion project, I'm sure they're upset about his decision to leave, too. I expect we'll be hearing some details from Rogen in the next few months, so stay tuned. I've been supporting this project all along and hope they find another director that I can still get excited about as well.

Stephen Chow Might Ditch The Green Hornet Entirely?

What exactly is going on here? A week ago we reported the rather depressing news that Stephen Chow would no longer be directing Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's The Green Hornet. Ultimately it was a bearable decision, especially considering he was reportedly still going to play Kato, Green Hornet's sidekick. Well according to Chow himself in an interview with the Associated Press, that might not happen either. Chow says that it was scheduling that made him pull out on directing the film, and that his involvement as Kato also depends on his schedule. Let's hope it works out or else this project might be ruined!

When Chow was announced as Kato and the director, it seemed like a dream come true for Rogen and Goldberg, as they'd been saying all along that he was their top choice for Kato. Not only did they get who they wanted, but they got a two-for-one with Chow as the director. If he ends up ditching this project entirely it will definitely leave me a bit worried, as I thought he could pull everything together and potentially turn it into a great film. My message to Sony - make sure you keep Stephen Chow as Kato! Screw the June 25th, 2010 release date, do what you need to make it work - it will pay off in the end!

Stop production ASAP. Obviously Sing Yeh is taking a page outta his BFF Tony Leung Chiu Wai's book - never sell out! There's no other actor who can replicate the role that Bruce Lee made famous.

Wonder what he's working on now? Kung Fu Hustle 2? lol

Seth Rogen Says His Green Hornet Movie is Still On

A few days ago we ran a rumor about The Green Hornet being canned by Sony. According to a recent update from the film's writer and star, Seth Rogen, that rumor just isn't true. Rogen contacted HitFix (the guys who reported the original story) and assured them that Sony still has every intention of making it. Apparently Stephen Chow's decision to leave as director might have caused a few people to lose their confidence and start questioning whether it would still get made, which is why a few of them thought it was being canned. But if Rogen has anything to do with it, and he does, it'll still happen as planned.

"[The studio heads] have every intention on making it, and assuming we're able to hire a new director in the upcoming weeks, which seems like a distinct possibility, it should still hit the release date," Rogen told HitFix. Not only is he starring in the film and co-writing it, but he's also producing, which means he has more than just a strong say in what happens. And may I remind you that Sony did put out a logo and set a June 25th, 2010 release date. As I said originally, it's very rare to see a studio do something like that, then back out entirely. But it sounds like they're still trying to figure things out and get this made.

So as far as we know, it looks like Sony is still moving forward with The Green Hornet and they're trying to find a new director. And according to AICN, it looks like Stephen Chow also still remains attached as Kato, contrary to other rumors. Like it or not, we'll be seeing Seth Rogen's Green Hornet in 2010.

Hey folks, Harry here... There's a strange world that occurs up in the frozen wilds of Sundance. Amid all the black leather and Blackberries - the very non-LA weather creates a crotchety bitch fest, where rumors start spiraling like snowflakes in the air. The big one this year was that GREEN HORNET was swatted.

My sources around Stephen Chow say, not so fast Moriarty! Sure, the evil professor may have a new assumed identity, but he's still out to thwart Good and the powers of truth and justice... even under his new alias of Drew McWeeny.

It seems Stephen Chow is still attached and moving forward on GREEN HORNET. Meanwhile, long time Asian Film site, MonkeyPeaches which has provided AICN with an awesome array of Asian Film scoops in the past is reporting that Stephen Chow's next foreign film is called JOURNEY TO THE WEST!

How do you respond... Mo... I mean, DREW MCWEENY? IF THAT'S YOUR NAME?!?!? Will you be man enough to admit how you're just an evil doddering ol frigid fool for listening to the Sundance Bitching? Hmmm? I will be watching to see if you do any significant follow up!

Chow joins Jack Black in superhero comedy?

Chinese media is reporting that Stephen Chow is considering writing and directing an unnamed Hollywood action/comedy starring himself and actor Jack Black. This is in addition to reports that Chow may yet star in a big screen update to THE GREEN HORNET.  Black previously voiced the lead character in DreamWorks’ animated martial arts hit KUNG FU PANDA. This unconfirmed report appeared in the “Oriental Morning Post” and cited Wei Dasen, a representative from Chow’s company.

Wei is quoted as saying, “It will be about a superhero, action-packed, special effects-rich, and of course funny.” The newspaper said that sources close to Chow suggest that the film will be similar in style to his 2004 hit KUNG FU HUSTLE. That film was often liked to a live-action Looney Tunes cartoon. Actress Ann Hathaway (GET SMART) has been named as a likely female lead.

Even if this news doesn’t pan out it suggests that behind the scenes there is intense effort being made on both sides of the Pacific to figure out some way to plug Chow into the Hollywood machine. He has been box office gold in Hong Kong for years and recent hits like SHAOLIN SOCCER and KUNG FU HUSTLE have proven that Chow’s brand of humor translates well to the Western market. With Chow continually being associated with directing a Hollywood movie, it’s more than likely that he is pushing to make sure that he doesn’t fall into the trap that some of his peers have, like Jackie Chan who ended up typecast in flimsy action comedies.

Oh shit man. What is he doing? FINALLY hollywood is taking notice, I wonder if y'all guys who like his Kung Fu Hustle/Shaolin Soccer seen his older lower brow humor?

I heard another one that he's gonna do Monkey King again - but serious.

Quote
We got know that Steven Chow planned to do an adaptation of classic Chinese fantasy novel “Journey to the West”, tells the story of the Tang Monk and his three disciples, the Monkey King, Piggy and Sandy, traveling to India for Buddhist texts (as reported back in November 2007 on this site). Then everything went quiet until this week. Just a few days ago, a Chinese reporter bumped into Tin Kai-Man, a member of the director’s board of Chow’s Star Overseas and the co-star in several movies by Chow, including Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer. Tin just completed a three-day low profile trip to China’s southwestern province of Sichuan, where a part of it was devastated by the earthquake last year. He said one of his objectives of his trip was to scout locations for the movie and he had visited several popular tourist sites, like Emei Mountain and the gigantic Buddhist statue of Leshan. After the Chinese New Year, he will visit other sites, Jiuzhaigou (Valley of Nine Villages, featured in Zhang Yimou’s Hero). He also made a scouting trip to Qichun of Hubei Province last year. Tin said the pre-production has begun though the script had yet to be finalized and finance had yet secured.

Back in 1994, Steven Chow played the Monkey King in Chinese Odyssey duology, with a wacky story not based on the novel and only with the main characters borrowed from it. Tin said it was Chow’s dream to make a real “Journey to the West” movie. Chow wanted to play Tang Monk but was overruled by a financier from Taiwan, who believes he should play the Monkey King again. Someone from Star Overseas once said this movie would be very faithful to the novel but according to Tin, the story would be quite different from the book. The pre-production will take a long-time to complete and the shooting schedule will not be created until the end of 2009 or even early 2010. Tin said Stephen Chow was still working on The Green Hornet. What? He's still involved?

I saw a poster for Shaolin Girl yesterday but found out that it was already shown last year. DLd it when I got home.

Though the movie started similar to Shaolin Soccer, it had the fighting scenes the previous movie lacked.

Pretty good movie. Lots of girls in lacrosse uniforms for eye candy and the fat guy and salary man from Shoalin Soccer and Okamura are there for comic relief. (but they can fight too.)

Kitty Zhang is hot!

Anne Hathaway Dons Super Cape For Stephen Chow Comedy?

Even though Stephen Chow passed on the Green Hornet picture with Seth Rogen, he's not done playing with the super-genre. In fact, rumor has it he's cast Anne Hathaway in a new superhero comedy.

According to Wei Dasen (reporting in China.org.cn) Chow's company has its sites set on a CG-heavy, explosion-packed comedy. Chow mentioned before that he wanted to work with funnyman Jack Black on his next project, and Hathaway is known for tackling big-budget comedy features in between her indie projects, so the timing seems right. But what kind of superhero would Hathaway be? My guess: a by-the-book action star who needs loosening up... enter Jack Black. Hopefully it'll be a bit more creative than that, but probably not. Chow is currently writing the screenplay and will also co-star.

Sounds interesting

Stephen Chow is Entirely Out of Seth Rogen's Green Hornet

Wait, when did this happen? Sometime last week, a sketchy article hit SpoilerTV that contained, simply, a copy/pasted line from a casting call for the role of Kato in Green Hornet. There was no information - just a description of the character. But the last we knew, Stephen Chow had been cast in that role. Seth Rogen had been dying to get him, as he'd be the perfect Kato, and for a while he even had him attached to direct the movie. Apparently following his decision to drop out as director, it took too long for it to find its legs again, as Chow has moved on to a new movie (or so CHUD says) and due to scheduling can't star anymore.

So maybe this isn't all that shocking. Last December, after the news that he was no longer directing had hit, Chow had said that his involvement was now dependent on his own schedule. "Let's hope it works out," I said, because if not, "this project might be ruined!" I don't think it'll be ruined without him, especially with Michel Gondry directing, but this is another setback that is probably chipping away at their optimism. Just a year ago, it seemed like Rogen had worked out everything perfectly, with Chow to direct and co-star. But now, I'm not sure. Sony still wants this out by July 9th, 2010, so they better find a replacement soon!

Stephen Chow's FLIRTING SCHOLAR to Be Prequeled without Stephen Chow (MonkeyPeaches Exclusive)

November 5, 2009

What a disappointing surprise.
Flirting Scholar, released in 1993, is one of Stephen Chow most memorable comedies.

Last month a Beijing-based previously unknown company called 21st Century Wei Ke Film announced it had acquired the rights to shoot a sequel/prequel to the classic.

In in original, Tong Pak-Foo, a wealthy and well-known young scholar disguises as a houseboy just get closer to the girl he falls in love with, Chou Heung (Gong Li), a housemaid. Story of the prequel will tell an early love story of Tong Pak-Foo and Chou Heung.

Stephen Chow has never been associated with the project. Gong Li, reportedly has been offered to play, not Chou Heung, but mother of Tong Pak-Foo. It said she was considering, but most likely, she would turn it down.

21st Century Wei Ke has just announced Lee Lik-Chi, the director of the original, will return to helm the prequel and Charles Heung, the presenter of the original, will work as the executive producer. The action will be handled by Dion Lam (Spider-Man 2, The Matrix trilogy, The Storm Riders), the camera will be operated by Poon Hang-Sang (CJ7, Fearless, Kung Fu Hustle), and Lee King-Man (The New Legend of Shaolin, The Tai-Chi Master, Once Upon a Time in China) will work as the art director.

I've loved his movies since I saw Kung Fu Hustle in theater. It might still be my favorite although I've seen only four other movies by him. I just watched Flirting Scholar because it had Gong Li as co-star and I've loved her even in not so good movies like Miami Vice. Fortunately Flirting Scholar was great fun. It was really fast paced joke after joke comedy and I can't remember when I've laughed so hard while watching it.

Stephen Chow redoing ‘Way of the Dragon?’

Last year Hong Kong comedy filmmaker and Bruce Lee fanatic Stephen Chow walked away from both directing and starring in Seth Rogen’s THE GREEN HORNET redo for unspecified reasons. Now it looks like he may be taking on another Bruce Lee project. Citing unnamed Hong Kong media reports, Channel News Asia says that Chow will begin shooting a new English-language film called TAI CHI that will feature Hollywood stars Jack Black and Anne Hathaway. The production will apparently begin shooting in the U.S. in June.

TAI CHI is based on Bruce Lee’s film WAY OF THE DRAGON. Chow’s film concerns a Chinese immigrant (Chow) working as a dishwasher in Chinatown while hiding his skills as a tai chi master. When gangsters oppress other local immigrants, the tai chi master comes to their defence. He later starts a martial arts school. According to the reports, Chow spent close to two years refining the script for the film which repeatedly stalled production and caused Columbia Pictures to pull out of the project, to be replaced by another Hollywood backer.

It’s also stated that Chow has been extremely nervous about making his English-language debut and has been working with a language tutor. In Bruce Lee’s WAY OF THE DRAGON, Lee played a kung fu master who defended Chinese immigrants in Rome from mobsters. The film climaxed with an unforgettable match between Lee and newcomer Chuck Norris in the Roman Colosseum. Chow’s genuine affinity for Bruce Lee is well documented. Most of his films feature some homage to the late kung fu star. Chow parodied Lee’s FIST OF FURY in FIST OF FURY 1991. Chow also appears to have a fondness for tai chi, an internal martial art that he has previously showcased in exaggerated fashion in SHAOLIN SOCCER.

I'm going to watch more of his movies but I don't think the earlier movies take anything away from enjoying Kung Fu Hustle. Some of funniest scenes in it like the knife throwing scene weren't even that heavy on special effects and Flirting Scholar and God of Cookery also have a lot of effects, just more traditional ones.

"CJ7" TO Be Back on Screen in July
2010-05-27 13:10:21     CRIENGLISH.com      Web Editor: libo

Stephen Chow's animated version of "CJ7" is set to hit mainland cinemas on July 6, 2010, Suho.com reports.

The upcoming cartoon is adapted from Chow's 2008 sci-fi comedy of the same name. The characters and the setting of the new movie remain the same as the original, although the story is new.

Hong Kong director Toe Yuen, who previously directed the popular comedy "McDull (http://abagond.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/mcdull02.jpg)", is helming the project.

Producer and lead actor Chow told reporters that the animation is dubbed in Mandarin. Although Chow already speaks Mandarin pretty well, his character was still dubbed by Shi Banyu, who often provides Chow's Mandarin voice in films. In terms of other characters in the cartoon, most stars of the original have returned to provide their voices.

3-D film is hot in the current Chinese film market, but Chow said his animation will be shown in the traditional 2-D format. In the star's opinion, the most important thing is to bring moviegoers a wonderful story. Visual effects are much less important.

2008's "CJ7" told the story of a boy and his alien dog friend.

Stephen Chow's animated "CJ7" held a press event yesterday in Shanghai international film festival. After showing up on the red carpet for the film festival's opening ceremony, this time Cecilia Cheung appeared again as the film's theme song performer. Her first son Lucas also made his appearance to the event, taking the limelight greatly. It's already sensational for Cecilia to show up at the press event, but the most surprising thing is that during the event, suddenly a kid ran onto the stage---it was actually Lucas. Lucas was very lively on the stage, sometimes hugging his mom, sometimes crawl on the sofa, and accidentally fell, but Cecilia was very calm: "Boys should be braver." She didn't help her son to get up, instead Stephen was worried, wanted to bring Lucas back to his seat, but Lucas rejected Stephen's help, causing the audience to laugh.Cecilia gave the mic to her son, telling him to greet everyone, Lucas spoke in English: "I love you.....Don't say my mom is fat." Because photographers kept taking pictures of Cecilia and Lucas, the flash angered Lucas and he kept saying in English: "You guys are naughty, taking pictures of me!" He also tried to block the flash with his hands.Talked about sing the theme song with Lucas, Cecilia said: "After I made my promise, dark circles appeared, because I had to wake up at 6:30AM everyday to sing with him. He doesn't know Mandarin, he speaks English." Asked whether she lets her son to step into showbiz with this opportunity, she said: "My plan is to let him focus in his studies, didn't think of letting him to step into the industry."Stephen expressed: "Lucas is only doing things kids like to do, he would continue his studies after singing this theme song." Cecilia suddenly asked back "Are you my husband?" Making Stephen held a V-sign helplessly and smiled.

TVB is so gangsta!!!

Left 20 years ago, Stephen Chow still owes TVB

(Caption: Pledging sovereignty, TVB contracted artistes with June birthdays are posted on a bulletin board, Stephen's photo is placed in the middle)

Since "6th aunt" Mona Fong's entry into TVB, the whole station only pursues one word - "cheap".
Speaking of that, it is because of "cheap" that the Artiste Department started searching back into the old files to see who still owes TVB? Searched and search, suddenly discovered that Stephen Chow who left TVB 20 years ago still owes TVB! Wah! The Stephen Chow today is worth a hundred times more. Mona confirmed with TVB Foreign Affairs Director, Tsang Sing Ming, he admits that Stephen still does have an artists contract with TVB. He said: "But is not convenient for me to reveal the details of the contract. Actually there are many celebrities who left TVB and still a contract with us, like Ekin Cheng."

LOVE Stephen Chow, one of the greatest comedy actors out there. Watched most of his films and every now and then, I still watch them over again. I'm really really wishing for him to make a second part to Kung Fu Hustle. And it would be great if they remade Chinese Odyssey just for better quality, but I loved the movie as it is already. Have to say Flirting Scholar, Chinese Odyssey 1 and 2 are among my favorites.

Been watching a ton of Stephen Chow classic TVB series lately (since I seen all his movies a few dozen times)...shit I haven't seen these since I was a kid, it was like seeing em again for the first time. All this mannerisms, all the sidekicks, and pure straight comedic genius was honed in these shows on TVB. The best and hardest working actor in show biz. Sing Yeh did it the hard way, everyone else is just imitating.

Started off in reverse order, as you can see each series there's less and less of him as he gets more famous.

About long lost twins, Stephen Chow and Lau Ching Wan. Chow plays "Ah Sai" is a modest peddler but is extremely loyal to his friends and father, Ah Fai (played hilariously by Leung Ka Yun 梁家仁), who happened to find him in Macau and raised him as his own, who happens to stumble upon a nice old lady and her son, "Ah Sing" who happens to be a movie director. They win the lottery and plan to rent out their house before selling it off, only to find the renovators will take months to finish, thus forcing Ah Sing and his Mother to move back into tinier rooms and live with Ah Sai and his father, setting the stage for the craziest Odd Couple match up ever.

Like when Ah Sing tries to use scare tactics and hires a bunch of his actor friends to hang out with their drawn on tattoos and pretend to be gangstas. Of course they wear off, and Ah Sai's buddies talk about working with "cheung" aka windows which in Canto sounds exactly like guns, and completely scares off the actors. Their tension eases when Ah Sai sees Ah Sing really care of his mother (teasingly calling her "Sho Mah" after she talks about being laughed awake by a dream of the three of them riding a roller coaster)

Ah Sai: "I relaize that one who treats their mother well, he is really a good person - thus I shall greet him whenever we meet."
Ah Fai: "You better do it."
Ah Sai: "Oh I will...(sees Ah Sing) DONT MOVE!"
Ah Sing: (annoyed) "What is it?"
Ah Sai: "Good morning, that is all."
Ah Sing: (all confused) "Uh...good morning.."

Of course, the mother suspects that Ah Sai is nearby - that her long lost son will be found so they put out flyers in the newspaper and shit. A phony ends up staying with them and even Ah Sai can't stand to see his (unknowingly) mother get conned. Then suddenly, the mother and Ah Sing notice the mannerisms of Ah Sai from when they were kids, so they try to do a DNA test and do hilarious stuff like checking for a mole on Ah Sai's ass

The relationship between Ah Sai and his father Ah Fai is really touching, as Ah Fai is a man's man gambler / slob and Ah Sai acts more like the parent, going up to loan sharks and screaming like a maniac to scare them off.

Of course they figure out their long lost bros, and hilarious Ah Fai gets all jealous. The craziest family you'd ever see. There are a ton of gag moments where you can tell Stephen Chow is cracking up his colleagues and he's just ad libbing. As with all Stephen Chow references, he is a huge fan of the old time black and white Canto Operas that are on late nite TV. So when he reminds his brother that they have a birthday, he goes "Bak Yeem and Jeung Long are so poor (Don't laught) they would celebrate with Fong Bobo so why not us?"

He even pokes fun at himself. When childhood friend (played by Amy Chan Sau Man 陳秀雯) Gah Lam tells Ah Sai and Ah Fai that she is now in the movie production business, doing Mo Lei Tau (Slapstick) movies, Stephen Chow snorts "LORD ALMIGHTY. I hate Slapstick Comedies, corrupting today's youth!!" XD

One of the gags, you always see him in a Garfield shirt.

Then it goes all dramatic and tensions with the brothers happen when they both crush on the same girl, Gah Lam who happens to be the colleague of Ah Sing.

The retarded part is, Ah Sing pushes her away even though he is in love, going to great lengths to fuck his ex-actress gf in the office to make her jealous. one of the most touching parts tho, and a tribute to Stephen Chow's great acting is when he pleads with his brother to not hurt the girl, and would rather smash his head against the wall then to see her hurt. The brothers hug and cry <3 great bonding moment. Butt WTF with Ah Sing investing in a karaoke with known dude who is a bad guy, but is his college best buddy, and of course he gets scammed and the cops are after him and crazy shit. The ending was like thrown all together to wrap shit up no doubt. Overall, it has really some of the finest comedic scenes and great acting in TVB history, but the story was all fucked up. Stephen Chow and Lau Ching Wan are one of Hong Kong's finest actors, and they really had fun filming this. The supporting cast, right down to the ridiculousness of the bit players are so funny.

Like the scene where Stephen Chow loses his money before taking the mini van, his friend unknowingly picks it up the bag and stuffs his own money in the washroom - but bumps into a guy and drops the bag. Ah Sai, all depressed comes out of the stall, stumbles upon the bag and goes "How..." (in comes in another guy) "...HOW COME I dropped money in Sai Kung and I end up finding it in Kwun Tong?" (the guy: "It can be done?") "YES!! It can be done. BELIEVE ME BROTHER!!"

This series was obviously filmed during the beginning of Stephen Chow's meteoric rise to superstardom and was just a contractual obligation to TVB. There is actually 12 episodes, but retail chains have it at 15 - way less than the usual 20 episode standard. The few eps. were like rehashed/reruns so careful when buying the VCDs. Or watching on Youku XD

Time to finish off 盖世豪侠 left off at episode 9 - meanwhile..

Stephen Chow trying to get Maggie Cheung to be in new Journey to the West film

Stepehen Chow's 1995 A Chinese Odyssey film series have been greatly applauded and the "love you a thousand years" has become the golden classic line. Two years ago, it was rumored that Stephen will make another film based on the "Journey to the West" theme. Unfortunately, it was only a rumor.

Until today, as the executive director of Bingo Group Limited, Stephen can finally start shooting the all new version. Bingo Group will invest in the film production and the film will premiere February 2011. Whether if Stephen will take part in the acting, it has not been confirmed, but it was said that he sees this film as a great importance, often looking for high class actors. In August, Stephen personally went to Beijing to ask popular international actress Maggie Cheung Man Yuk to take on the role as [Queen Mother of the West - "Wong Mo Leung Leung"]. Because Stephen showed so much sincerity and plus Maggie wants to do a comedy flick, so there is a high possibility that she'll be in it. Besides this film, Stephen also mentioned that he'll tailor a woman's film for Maggie with lots of room to develop, giving Maggie a chance to satisfy her 'acting addiction'.

The film will be directed by Derek Kwok, the media contacted him to ask if Maggie will be in the film? He said: "Well such high class actress, it is Mr. Chow (Stephen Chow) that handles it. I am just waiting for him to notify me, but looking at the tentative cast list, there are Hollywood stars and other high class actors."

more classic Stephen Chow TV shows watching by me!  O0

The Justice Of Life 他来自江湖 (1989.11.13)

aka Tah Loy Jee Gong Woo, ultimate classic. Runs 30 episodes

他来自江湖1(粤语) 周星驰 - 视频 - 优酷视频 - 在线观看 (http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNTk2MzA5NDQ)

Built as a Alex Man Chi Leung vehicle as the good son who does righteous deeds for everyone but has a mysterious past, Stephen Chow steals the show. Set mainly in a friendly majong parlour /  eatery, a bunch of gangstas try to fuck up shit. Ah Teen (Alex Man) handles the situation with his cool Miami Vice demeanour, while his cousin Ah Shui freaks  out. Somehow word gets back to Ah Teen's old boss Man Lahp Yeen (Kwan Hoi San) and he sends in like engineers and architects to fix the place up. Teen Goh  sends em away but everyone around em figures, "Hey! This guy knows people in high places!"

Ah Shui lives in the flat above the mahjong place with his cousin Teen and aunt, along with his dad Ho Ying Biu (Ng Man Tat) who is an ex-cop turned Chinese  medicine man / massager, and has his shop inside the house. Right across the hall is his grandmother whom spoils him and is pissed at Ah Biu for having an  affair, causing her to separate from her daughter, Ah Shui's mother - who moved to Canada. Here we get the Chinese woman marrying the white man jokes XD Thus  sets the story of two cousins going through life, one honest do-gooder and one slacking taxi driver (for now).

In just his stylings of being a lazy bum, trying to con his way through life through one adventure after another, you can just see not just comedic timing  but the intense acting ability that Stephen Chow is never praised for. One scene he describes how he is carjacked and has to take three bitches across the  river, to plead to his cousin Teen Goh to just give him a good word to work for the rich mogul Man Lahp Yeen - true or false, Ah Shui makes a convincing lying sumbitch. Eventually by some fluke encounter, Ah Shui runs into Man Sang WHILE rival triads are trying to kill him providing enough of a diversion for his son Johnson (played by Anthony Wong Chau Sang (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=20789.0)) to come in and save him. With a few pulled strings, Ah Shui works for Johnson - much to his dismay - as his chauffeur lol BUT he gets to drive around his hot wife. ONE FOOT IN THE DOOR for the wannabe millionaire Ah Shui.

Insert the women in the mix, who all happen to fall for Teen Goh and Ah Shui ends up wondering why women in Hong Kong are all "fahn.....mong" (annoyingly....busy). There's Yu Gao, the resident Mainlander who looks for a better life in HK to make money for her family in China, works at the mahjong parlour but her talents for art design and eventually acting vaults her into the fast lane. There's the plain Ah Yuk (played by Teresa Mo) who tries so hard to make it, going from job to job despite being a college grad, even goes to night school, yet can't make it anywhere. Ah Shui crushes on her, so does the boss of her banker boss Ma Sang (played by Benz Hui) but all along she crushes on Teen Goh.

But fate has it that Teen Gor can't resist Yu Gao's "innocent" struggles to become the very best, as she hits it big in a commerical design firm. WHERE it so happens that the boss is the stereotypical workaholic feminist who happens to be the girlfriend of one of HK's Finest, Chief Detective who happens to be the brother of banker boss Ma Sang and the best buddy from their school days of Teen Goh. DAMN! What a fucking coincidence. Of course, they all cross paths as Chief Detective is on the hunt for Johnson and the triads as they try to expand into the new era of coke and drugs, while Man Sang tries to go into normal business. Chief Detective just can't help but wonder what Teen Gor is such good friends with Man Sang...

And Teen Gor falls for Yu Gao, and the double dating ensues as the complete waste of time as you figure TVB is trying to pimp the Feminist Boss who happened to win Miss Hong Kong and date my 2nd eldest cousin at the time, and Yu Gao, the fuck were they trying to pimp her - thinking she's all beautiful - getting her in a one piece FUCK late 80s damn she was ugly and annoying, trying to be all innocent "OH I never got my cherry popped, Teen Gor do me now" fuck, skipped the whole part, where was Stephen Chow's parts...this goes on for like 10 plus episodes as Ah Yuk tries to win Teen Gor's affections while Yu Gao keeps on becoming a bigger and bigger success, from ad firm to being a ..wait for it...movie star. So much so, she has to go to fucking Hollywood. "What should I do Teen Gor?" Well, go chase your dreams bitch and make lotsa money - marry a white guy and ditch the good guy aka Teen Gor.

Meanwhile Ah Shui keeps trying to hit on Ah Yuk and keeps failing, even working at her bank as an errand boy. Though he does manage to piss off all the bank managers and creates chaos, he ends up fluking out and meeting a stock guy and gives him random advice, and he hits the big time. Considering him God of Luck, the Stock Guy hires Ah Shui and he starts throwing tons of money and walks around pretending he's Chow Yun-fat's character Mark Gor from "A Better Tomorrow" ... even walks slow mo (hilarious scene where the people in the background walk in normal, faster speed) to impress his relatives. Mo' money, mo' problems eventually Ah Shui's luck runs out and he's back to being a bum. Meanwhile his dad keeps thinking he can get back with his divorced wife, and when she does return - he dumps this really nice Malaysian woman, whom set up his immigration and everything - only to find that she came to tell him she's divorcing him to marry Ah Bill. 18 years, times have changed, it's best they move on. Ah Shui tries even more success teaming up with Bank Manager Ma Sang who quit his job, and they go into some random business.

"We might as well team up, since we both crushed on Ah Yuk" says Ah shui, "Why'd you have to bring that up?" Ma Sang says. "I was afraid the audience woulda forgot." CLASSICE MO LEI TAU (Nonsense) Comedy.

The relationship between Ah Shui and his father Ah Biu begins the seeds of Stephen Chow and Ng Man Tat's decade plus partnership in film and television, the comedy duo does no wrong. Ah Shui is more like Ah Biu's father, and can get his father to do Tai Chi automatically when Ah Shui "hums" the Chinese Opera music (more like an exaggerated impersonation of the "Once Upon A Time in China" theme song).

Ah Shui ends getting caught up in Johnson's gangsta schemes by accident and it's up to Teen Gor to save the day. Apparently, he was Man Sang's right hand man, the best and most righteous gangsta around. Being in this business, it's all about loyalty and Man Sang swears by it as Teen Gor was to marry his daughter but she ended up being murdered. Johnson blames Teen for this and distraught, Teen retires from the business, but Man Sang is always there to help and Teen always goes back to visit, making Johnson even more jealous.

In the WTF end all to end all serial dramas, Teen goes back to his roots and slickly saves Ah Shui from the gangstas. Hilarious part, is where Ah Shui and Cutie (the dork co-worker of Ah Yuk) are kidnapped and he goes "If I ever get out of here, I swear I'll marry you" and lightning and thunder strike. Also the gangstas guarding them are like "Hey! Come and watch this cartoon finale with us!" only to have Cutie beat the shit out of them. Of course, in the dramatic ending Teen exchanges the drugs of Johnson's for the hostages only for Johnson to get greedy and in a big gun fight, Johnson gets killed. Teen did what he had to do, and Chief Detective friend lets him go. Alex Man's characters can never go wrong!!

Despite all the annoying side characters and ridiculousness of Ah Teen's Wannabe Chow Yun-fat All Righteous Guy character, this is a pretty heart warming drama, with shitloads of comedy. The "Ho Yea, Sut Lai, Pui Fok" (Good Job, You're Too Kind, Give Up/Give In!) interaction between Stephen Chow and Alex Man sums up the whole relationship between the cousins and best friends, always looking out for each other.

From the production stills you see above, Stephen Chow already worked with his comedic / director partner Lee Lik Chi who went on to work with him in so many movies in the 90s. Alex Man and Anthony Wong went on to become major movie stars after their stint in TVB too. And Tetris was big back in the day

Here's a few series I have yet to watch, so old school, I don't even remember them from my childhood days when Mom and dad rented videotapes at 50 cents apiece and hardcore watched them all because you had to return them in a week. Ah Shun Fat. You hustlers! Stephen Chow is a supporting character in all of these, but the VCD art capitalizes on his fame - he co-stars with the best of the best, like Tony Leung with Adam Cheng & Liz Wang:

^ AND I've seen a bit...Francis Ng is in it too lol. Basically it's him and Alex Man being buddies, Alex trying to make it up the social ladder. You hardly see Stephen Chow in it except being yelled at by his wife. They used to work at a clothing shop together until Alex Man went to work at the hotel Francis Ng's father owns.

The Final Combat 盖世豪侠 (1989.04.03)

盖世豪侠01【粤语】 - 视频 - 优酷视频 - 在线观看 (http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTM2NjA0ODI0)

This is THE groundbreaking series that launched Stephen Chow from wisecracking sidekick into SUPERSTAR. His Mo Lei Tau (Nonsense) Comedy was born in this era, he was given the chance to shine as the slacker yet cunning get rich quick fantasizer character that he'd come to portray in his blockbuster movies. Here we have your mo hup peen (wuxia / martial arts drama) setting. We have a fictional Shaolin Temple type academy "Kung Chong Pai" filled with 12 of the finest kung fu styles, led by one leader Tung Oh Tin.

The Master of the Dark Martial Arts, Yuk Leui Sun Gong "The Feminine Martial Arts" threatens to battle them. Disciples Ku Fung (played by Ng Man Tat) and Duen Hoi (played by veteran badass dad Lau Kong) try to stop their master from going into battle by stealing his kung fu manual but Duen Hoi accidentally kills a guard so he ends up framing his senior Ku Fung - and he is exiled, last seen jumping off a cliff. In comes Ku Yim Yeung, master of the Dark Kung fu - all fucked up because he tried to learn the Female Style and ended up as a tranny 4 life - and attacks the Kung Chong Pai. Ultimate battle ensues and the leader Tung Oh Tin dies, only to leave disciples Duen Hoi and Ku Fung in the running...of course Duen Hoi ends up as the leader, feeling remorse, he goes to Ku Fung's family and adopts his son as his own, as his wish to his comrade...these two sons end up being Duen Fei (Stephen Chow) and Duen Yuk Lau (Francis Ng):

The sons grow up to be complete opposites. Yuk Lau is the good son, ultimate martial arts ready to take over in the footsteps of his father as leader of Kung Chong Pai. Ah Fei is a slacker but is superbly cunning. He has no interest in martial arts and just wants to make money with his friends Ah Bil and Ah Wah (played by the late Lee Hin Ming / 李顯明). Of course, there are love interests. Suet An (gorgeously played my Yammie Lam) is a suitor / rival to Yuk Lau who happens to be the adopted daughter of his mortal enemy Ku Yim Yeung. She obediently obeys his orders and is an assassin for hire...until she runs into the fun loving Ah Fei, who crushed on her instantly. Along the way, they run into Ah Ju while running rival taverns, Ah Fei accidentally spoils another arranged marriage for Ah Ju because of Ah Fei's "Mong Ching Jau" the booze that will get you drunk FAST and make you spill all your secrets. Suet An realizes that she is doing wrong and tries to go to the good side but Ku Yim Yeung poisons her, forcing her to come home whenever he beats the drum as it makes her writhe in pain. And by some fucked up coincidence, Ku Yim Yeung's ex wife happens to be Ah Ju's mother!!

Out of frustration with his younger brother, he let's Duen Fei teach the fellow kung fu trainees, if I was to go into battle and I wasn't strong enough, would a simple "Sorry" hurt anybody? then he busts out his trademark line "坐低,飲啖茶,食個包。蓋世豪俠" "Sit Down, Eat Bun, Drink Tea" - shake hands and be friends, the world would be a better place!! So pissed off Yuk Lau is, he teaches his brother the forbidden martial arts which makes Ah Fei "die" randomly. Ah Fei and Ah Ju decide to travel to some magical land to find a cure and they run into a Blind Kung Fu Man who happens to be Ku Fung! Who himself is obsessed in getting revenge on Kung Chong Pai and his betrayal by his friend Duen Hoi.

There are really touching moments and comedic situations between Ku Fung and Ah Fei, Stephen Chow and Ng Man Tat at their finest, not the typical relationship that you see - the father and son, but more like kid and grandfather - the respect and admiration for one another is mutual. Like when they were chilling, Ku Fung reveals that Ku Yim Yeung is actually his brother (Ng Man Tat plays both in convincing fashion, right down to pure evil with a touch of feminine flair and bold uncompromising old kung fu warrior). By the end, even though all the tricks Ah Fei try to pull for Ku Fung to use his kung fu to earn him some money and how he resists "Kung Fu should not be used in the non righteous ways!" Ku Fung can't help but have a liking for the mischievous Ah Fei.

Meanwhile, so obsessed is he to defeat Ku Yim Yeung, Yuk Lau takes up learning the dark martial arts, which makes Yuk Lau turn into a green lizard everytime there's lightning strike:

Cursed, he can't let anyone know his secret, because he is now the Leader of the Kung Chong Pai. He goes into evil mode, killing people left and right, including Ah Ju's mother and crippling his father Duen Hoi whom he learns THE TRUTH! which makes him an even more twisted pile of evil, knowing Ku Fung is his real father, and he can't let this truth out and he locks him up in the basement.

In a mad rush, Ah Fei helps Ku Fung escape and they travel to another part of the country to help find a magical land to cure Ku Fung's blindness. They meet a new cast of characters along the way, Three Righteous Warriors of The King whom, the leader Chin Man Lee (Benz Hui) had challenged Ku Fung to a duel (through Ah Fei's trickery) ...eventually they find the waters to cure Ku Fung's blindness, team up with Suet An and meet the King who is superbly interested in learning all the martial arts, including the dreaded Feminine Martial Arts that'll turn you into a fucking tranny!! But he insists, and one of his other aides to go to Ku Yim Yeung and negotiate.

Also, in the mad rush, Ah Fei was tricked (made drunk by Ah Ju's mom) into marrying Ah Ju but ended up leaving her at the altar, her ninth time lol. When she witnesses her mother being murdered by Yuk Lau, she has nowhere to turn but to live with her father, Ku Yim Yeung. The Evil Aide arrives with The Prince. Evil Aide plots with Ku Yim Yeung to take out the king. Ah Ju strikes up a friendship with The Prince, in the meantime.

Paranoid and staggering from area to area trying to kill Ku Yim Yeung and trying to not turn into a green monster, Yuk Lau meets this mysterious medicine woman. She sends him to do three certain tasks (mainly to kill people lol) and he ends up on one mission in The King's Courtyard. Then DAMN we learn the Evil Aide's is Mysterious Medicine Woman's sister who they swore revenge on the King because he killed their entire family because they refused to handover their martial arts secrets.

EXTREME BATTLES! ensue...the King is poisoned and has months to live so he creates 12 balls of kung fu power to slowly digested by The Prince. We also learn that Chin Man Lee's wife is the teacher to Mysterious Medicine Woman, who basically has sex with Yuk Lau to cure his green lizardness and declares her love for him, much to Yuk Lau's reluctance - but she knows poisons so she could be of use....they try to poison / kill Ku Yim Yeung again and fail, Ah Fei and Ah Ju get trapped in a hidden area, so hungry Ah Fei ends up eating the 12 golden balls, Ah Fei is super heated up.

And in heat, they find an ice cave, and Ah Fei takes off his shirt, Ah Ju is cold...one thing leades to another!! ...they fall in love. what'd you think it's a family show XD
(http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/2986/schowsex.jpg)

He now has all the kung fu power of The King in one dose, reunited with the others Chin Man Lee's wife gives them a super grenade and they blow up Ku Yim Yeung for good!??!?!  They watch him explode.

.....Still got 6 more episodes to go!!!

Off to save his father, Ah Fei is outraged at how Luk Yau has treated him, but he put a time bomb on him and Ah Fei's father goes "Don't follow me! I got a knife!" but Hung finds him in the woods - still not dead and saves him.

So they gather all the elders and spill all the TRUTHS about Luk Yau, everyone is there to lay it all out, from fathers to ex-girlfriends. No where to go, Luk Yau escapes but not before stabbing Duen Hoi before Duen Fei uppercuts him down the hill. Both are dead...or so they think.

His father passed on, it was time for Duen Fei to step it up and "Sang Sing" ...Ku Yeung assumes temporary leadership of the Clan
(http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/2994/snotp.jpg)

But of course Yuk Lau is not dead and he is picked up the Mongols - who are stereotypically portrayed as morons XD and since Yuk Lau was so badly injured - his kung fu prowess weakened, they take him in as a slave.

OF COURSE, by coincidence Suet Ang is trying to escape the kung fu lifestyle and peacefully live among the Mongols but Yuk Lau lusts after her still..

and keeps bringing up their past romances despite the fact Yuk Lau is a psycho murderer hellbent on ruling the universe...he promises he has changed his ways, that being a slave for the Mongols has humbled him.

...but seeing Ah Hung aka Mysterious Medicine Woman aka Ex "GF" comes back to try and kill him, after learning the Woman Kung Fu Style from a revived Ku Yim Yeung (OF COURSE he's not dead yet) he gets power hungry and takes her Woman Kung Fu manual and kills her in a rage. He learns it and regains his power and leaves bodies cold in the Mongol Camp....as he goes to get revenge on his brother.

Meanwhile, Ah Fei is learning all the kung fu moves possible, battling all 12 Masters. Seeing Ah Hung in the woods, they feared the worst....Ku Yim Yeung is still alive and it's time for Ku Fung to battle his brother once and for all.

They travel to the hottest part of the country to catch Ku Yim Yeung while he's down, but little do they know he's almost fully recovered. The Brothers battle hardcore and both get injured badly until Ku Yim Yeung tricks Ku Fung he's on the ledge and tosses his brother in the fire rocks, badly injuring him and never to recover, See Bak Ku Fung dies.
(MAN! Ng Man Tat really pulls off the ultimate death scene)

Determined more than ever, Ah Fei assumes leadership of Kung Chong Pai.

Through a hardcore meeting with Yuk Lau, Ah Fei realizes his powers are still not up to par and is exiled. So they figure to learn the most ancient of Kung Fu to deal with Woman Kung Fu, The Death Touch (the same kung fu Yuk Lau tricked taught Ah Fei earlier that makes him tie temporarily). After much argument with his wife they find a secret passage complete with map! which teaches a method that doesn't make you die temporarily. So Ah Fei and Man Yee travel to find the 150 Year old Kung Fu Master who wrote the passage.

They run into a hotel owner's daughter Ah Fun, who when knocked on the head as simply as Ah Fei used to, dies temporarily. Enraged, they figure she must know and keep trying to get the info out of her. Ah Fei and Man Yee even think up of this plot where they pretend Ah Fei is seducing her and Man Yee comes to stop him, so she'd squeal the truth. "Surely you can't believe him! His acting is so bad!" XD

Finally they get it out of her and find the ancient kung fu master who agrees to teach Ah Fei.

Meanwhile, Yuk Lau has becoming even more of a tranny, yet keeps getting haunted by the ghost of Ah Hung...who is really Suet Yee

and he rapes her, and she ends up bearing his son.

His lackeys find out where Ah Fei is hiding and Yuk Lau goes to battle and the 150 Year Old Kung Fu Master ends up battling and scaring him off, but the battle takes a toll on him and he dies, leaving Ah Fei this Blue and Red Super Suit saying he is The Chosen One!

Suet An tries to runaway with her son but not before she switched babies with another and throws a fake baby into the river, enraged Yuk Lau kills her. Left with nothing left to do but to face his brother once and for all, Ah Fei battles his brother - even tho he hasn't fully absorbed the Super Kung Fu he learned.

Here's where it turns into classic Stephen Chow comedy. Donning his Blue and Red uniform, he kisses his wife, and she reaches in to hug him again and he stops her and fixes his hair and slow mo rushes off.

The BROTHERS battle to the death!! Hilarious picking his nose while Yuk Lau shows off his Women Kung Fu style. Stephen Chow vs Francis NG!
STEPHEN CHOW vs FRANCIS NG (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYVYzGQAfX8#)

Ah Ju comes to help out and they manage to kill Yuk Lau once and for all. Thanks Medicine Woman for bringing the Elixir at the last moment!! "But that wasn't the Super Elixir, just some random shit" AI YAH!! and Ah Fei collapses all bones broken.

Fully in charge of the Kung Chong Pai, he renames the Clan in honor of his father and See Bak and his late mother, and that not only do they do kung fu, but they are cunning businessmen too!! They find Yuk Lau and Suet An's son and they take him as their own...."Why this reminds me of me..." Flash forward to future and you have Stephen Chow and Francis Ng in their original outfits playing a prank on their now older Ah Fei "WHY YOU KIDS!!!"

HILARIOUS.

Just a classic series, though some characters annoying (Man Lee's wife esp. and later Ah Ju's whining) and some of the plot were WTF...but overall, it really showcased Stephen Chow as the comic genius he is today, along with a lot of moments to pull of some acting chops - his parents and See Bak died, yet he still was lazy in kung fu training...damn reminds me of someone. So much trademark material that you would see in the future, catchphrases galore not only the Drink Tea, Eat Bun, but like "What are you looking at? You are looking at me first." and so much chemistry with almost all the characters, who would go on to fruitful careers in their own right like Benz Hui and esp. the flashes of Francis Ng's evil twisted character, he was a supporting 2nd and 3rd stringer at this point but he really stole the show in many scenes. The times with Stephen Chow and ESP. the last episode showed he can parody himself in the same series!! NG Man Tat, as I mentioned above, plays both characters of Ku Fung and Ku Yim Yeung and really is convincingly evil and heroic at the same time. Hardly you see his Slobbering Sidekick / Dumb Dad routine in future Stephen Chow movies - so it was pretty dope to see him act so serious. Great action too and Yammie is so hot <333

Many would come to copy this series, The Blue Print to mixing Wuxa with comedy becomes a genre in itself. Good learning for any Stephen Chow Fan. Even after the success of The Final Combat brought Stephen Chow back for some spoofs / rehashing:

watched a bit "Price of Growing Up" of where Stephen Chow's character appears 3 years later, and is in gambling debts and his wife is forced to do be hostess BUT SHE LIKES IT, which makes Stephen Chow so pissed - realyl great acting on his part. Him and Alex Man try to pick up the pieces of their lives...which leads to interesting pick from this Korean artist...

1. King Of Comedy (1999) directed by Stephen Chow and Lee Lik-chi
“King of Comedy” is such a wonderful romantic film. I cried when Chow and Piu got separated after spending a night together. I cried again at the last scene. I think Stephen Chow is a terrific actor. Not that I mind the older version of him as he is now but he was just so cute back in his early movie “Fight Back to School (1991), (laughs).”

Stephen Chow never gives up on his comical ruse even when playing the most romantic scenes, raising no doubt that he truly is the “King of Comedy.” But the romance between Chow (Stephen Chow) and Piu (Cecilia Cheung) was also done with a weight of its own which makes the film good enough to be called a good romance as well.

HOLY SHIT "Price of Growing Up" extends to a whopping 59 Episodes. Stephen Chow returns and becomes Alex Man's right hand man through thick and thin - and this includes them cleaning floors in a janitorial service to suddenly inheirting millions and being Fok Lum Jewelery Kingpin and being Francis Ng's aiyah brother.

originally Stephen Chow had impregnated this girl Ah San and he's CRAZY about her, but she always is "tam ho heui wing" - always lookng down at his poor status...which leads to separation, to her making big money as a hostess and Stephen Chow's character Ah Lung being torn apart.

After a shitload of Alex Man and Carol Dodo Cheng's on off relationship and "WHY WONT U TELL ME U HAVE CANCER" soap opera storylines....FINALLY some intense action. Some wannabe triad wanna steal jewels and they run into them, and get taken down the elevator - only to run into Carol Cheng's character Ah Mun and hubby

SCHOW jumps in front of a bullet for y'all

As soon as he sees his wife, he yells AH SAN AH SAN (played sexily innocently by 蔡嘉利)! and runs after her even tho he just had surgery

Why won't you stay!!!

Everyone catches up to him and hold him up, TELL HER TO COME BACK
(http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/8797/comebackj.jpg)

Stephen Chow steals the show as usual. Check the episode while you can:

I love how Alex Man Tse Leung ALWAYS ALWAYS has to be the poorest of the poor and then suddenly becomes rich and successful, so he slicks his hair. Through this, Stephen Chow is his right hand man, the loyalist of the loyal - yet even with the suits and glasses - he still lives in his shithole of a flat LOL awesome how he just can't take it anymore and slugs Francis Ng lol

A comedy film directed by Stephen Chow will be released around the 2013 Chinese New Year.

ChinaVision Media Group Limited has announced that a comedy film directed by Stephen Chow will be released around the 2013 Chinese New Year.

"Chu Mo Chuan Qi", starring Shu Qi, Huang Bo and Wen Zhang, will mark Chow's return after his 2008 film "CJ7".

Chow, who is also an actor, screenwriter and producer, is hailed as the king of comedy. His prolific career is marked by such successful films as "A Chinese Odyssey", "Shaolin Soccer", and "Kung Fu Hustle".

The actor-turned-director has signed a contract with ChinaVision to shoot five films in the next seven years.

ChinaVision, which celebrated its third anniversary on Tuesday (September 18, 2012), also announced the launch of individual studios for some of its signed artists, including actors Ge You and Huang Bo, writer Yan Geling and director Ding Sheng.

Among them, Ding Sheng will direct "Police Story 2013" starring Jackie Chan.

Ding and Chan worked together on the 2010 film "Little Big Soldier".

Stephen Chow Sing Chi who has not released a film in awhile yesterday met the media in Beijing with Huayi Brother chief Wang Zhonglei. Earlier the not yet titled film confirmed its official title SAI YAU GONG MOR BIN (JOURNEY TO THE WEST: DEMON TAMING CHAPTER) and will be released in the February Lunar New Year slot.

Since CJ7 Chow Sing Chi has not released a new film in 4 years. Thus the press conference attracted over 100 media outlets. Sing Yeh who has not appeared in a long time could have passed for a model. The press conference announced a teaser trailer and two posters. In the trailer the Monkey King had its back toward the camera and faced the challenge of the giant Buddha's palm. The short one minute teaser displayed the JOURNEY TO THE WEST story's fantasy pedigree with special effects and space of imagination that viewers will look forward to.

The pure slogan poster had "Ten thousand years are too long, seize the day. As soon as the king appears he is invincible" The quote came from Mao Zedong but also answered Sing Ye's CHINESE ODYSSEY "Love you ten thousand years" classic line. The host asked Chow Sing Chi, "You used to be willing to wait ten thousand years, now why do you think they are too long?" Sing Yeh replied, "I was too young then!"

This film was also Wang Zhonglei's second collaboration with Chow Sing Chi. He felt that only Chow Sing Chi was able to coordinate with the JOURNEY TO THE WEST story. "His character and scene handling are never what you expect!" Sing Yeh was in a good mood at yesterday's press conference. After the teaser was shown, he deliberately asked the host in Cantonese, "How was it?" The host was pleased and answered in less than fluent Cantonese, "Good!" The host finally asked Chow Sing Chi about his expectation of his new film. Sing Yeh said, "Viewers' happiness is the most important!"

[2012.12.28] STEPHEN CHOW CALLS SHU QI "COMEDY FIGHTER JET"

The Stephen Chow Sing Chi directed film JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) will be released in the Lunar New Year. Yesterday he along with actors Shu Qi, Wen Zhang and Huang Bo attended the Beijing press conference. Sing Yeh praised the 3 actors for their great acting. They were filled of comedy senses, with them he could almost retire from comedy! He was still able to direct though. Shu Qi revealed that when she was named the lead actress, she admitted that she was a little surprised and agreed to perform right away.

Chow Sing Chi at the Beijing press conference joked, "Wen Zhang is the new king of comedy. With him, my comedy life has ended; Huang Bo is already a king of comedy, with him, Wen Zhang's and my comedy lives have ended; with Shu Qi, we can all get lost. She absolutely is the comedy fighter jet."

Shu Qi admitted that she wanted Sing Yeh to show of a little of his acting in the film but she was disappointed. Sing yeh was asked when he would personally perform a comedy for everyone? He continued to praise the actors and said, "With them around, what would I play? I can almost retire." Yet he admitted that he would not stop directing.

Shu Qi was named the lead actress to play the demon taming heroine. She said that she was a little surprised. "One day Sing Yeh suddenly called me and asked if I could be his new film's lead actress? At the time I was so surprised I jumped. Later I found out it was for JOURNEY TO THE WEST, a costume and action films. I thought it would be a lot of fun so I agreed right away. I grew up watching Sing Yeh's movies. I understand his style very well, working with Sing Yeh on a comedy has been my dream for years." Sing Yeh said, "Oriignally I wanted to take Shu Qi to dinner to invite her, because I thought Shu Qi has always played pretty characters she probably would have no interest in comedy; in the end, Shu Qi was very interested in the comedy, I didn't have to take her to dinner."

In the film Shu Qi had many action scenes, most of which Sing Yeh personally demonstrated. Shu Qi said, "No wonder everyone said Sing Yeh likes kung fu, he actually really knows kung fu well!"

[2013.01.06] STEPHEN CHOW ADMITS THAT HE IS OLD AND NO ONE WANTS HIM

Stephen Chow Sing Chi two days ago spoke about his dreams with Alibaba group chief Jack Ma Yun at the Beijing China Media University. They appreciated each other and practiced Tai Chi. Sing Yeh said that he would like Ma Yun to play the Monkey King; the audience saw how great they got along and screamed, "Get together!" Sing Yeh was asked about marriage and he continued to practice "Tai Chi". "Now no one wants me."

Sing Yeh responded to the question of when he would wed. ""I don't know either!"  He then turned around and Wang Zhonglei, "At my age now I probably won't have the chance!  I am so old, now definitely no one wants me." When a viewer asked him about his favorite actress, he said that recently he felt Shu Qi was decent since she was the JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) lead actress. Someone screamed his former rumored girlfriend Athena Chu Yan's CHINESE ODYSSEY character name. He remained serious and did not respond.

《娱乐》周星驰马云跨界对话 "天马行空"引热高校 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0VwueuLXI8#)

In recent years Sing Yeh focused on behind the scene work, which was regrettable to many film viewers. Sing Yeh said, "Actually I still can be an action director. I have practiced kung fu since I was little, I am interested in martial arts. In all of my movies I would participate in action director work." Ma Yun immediately grabbed him to practice Tai Chi.

Ma Yun praised Sing Yeh, "Chinese people have two things that they have to watch, one is Chow Sing Chi movies, the other is Jin Yong (Louis Cha) novels. The rest can all be passing clouds." 2,000 viewers applauded and cheered. Sing Yeh said that he thought about asking Ma Yun to play the Monkey King. "I want to ask Ma Yun to make a movie, he could play whatever he wants. Whichever actress he would like to work with I would try to get. I feel JOURNEY TO THE WEST is the perfect movie, the only regret is Ma Yun didn't play the Monkey King."

In JOURNEY OF THE WEST, the original "10000 year limit" has now become "10000 years are too long, just fight for the moment". Sing Yeh lamented particularly, "I don't have much time, I need to fulfill many dreams in the fastest speed." Ma Yun agreed, "Dream realization now not only needs the best creativity, but also excellent teams and persisting hard work. However it can only be just talks and empty dreams."

[2013.01.07] STEPHEN CHOW CARRIES ON ALONE

The god class actor Stephen Chow Sing Chi even has a temper that exceeds others! Rumors of partnerships that ended in unpleasantness are frequent. Recently another one is added -- his new film JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) director Derek Kwok Chi Kin. Reportedly they due to camera placement issue had some friction, finally Sing Yeh wrapped up the film himself and carried the recent promotion as well.

After Ng Man Tat, Wong Jing, Wong Yat Fei, and Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Chow Sing Chi recently has been rumored to be at odds with another partner! Earlier he and Kwok Chi Kin directed JOURENY TO THE WEST, Sing Yeh was the writer and the director. However with his unique ideas, during the shoot he and Kwok Chi Sin had a difference of opinion. Reportedly they constantly due to camera placement issues created friction and were unable to come to an understanding. Thus Kwok Chi Kin left the front line during the production while Sing Yeh kept working hard.

On recent promotional posters, the film was only introduced as Stephen Chow film without any show of Kwok Chi Kin. Even for the Mainland promotional tour, production meeting and the Hong Kong press conference tomorrow, Kwok Chi Kin would not be expected. Instead Shu Qi and Wen Zhang were listed. To find Kwok Chi Kin's name, one would have to look on the film's official microblog credits. However because he was not expected at the promotion, Kwok Chi Kin was free and clear to direct Nicholas Tse Ting Fung's new film wholeheartedly.

Kwok Chi Kin earlier was hospitalized due to a kidney stone. Recently he has already recovered and continued to work on his new film. When asked about the difference of opinion with Sing Yeh, he said with hesitation, "Nothing like that, it's just a rumor." As for other collaboration plan, Kwok Chi Kin did not directly respond.

During the shoot JOURNEY kept its characters confidential. With the recent promotional tour the veil of mystery has been lifted. Mainland actor Huang Bo played the Monkey King, Shu Qi played Miss Duen. Taiwan star Show Luo (Law Chi Cheung) played a lonely gentleman."

Director, writer and producer Stephen Chow Sing Chi yesterday with Shu Qi and Show Luo (Law Chi Leung) attended the Lunar New Year film JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) press conference. Sing Yeh's KUNG FU HUSTLE was once the Hong Kong box office champion but earlier Taiwan film YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE toppled it. Was he confident about regaining the title this time? Sing Yeh said, "Of course I would like to perform well, how much do I want to make in Hong Kong? We don't have to be so literal." Did he have any pressure from Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Raymond Wong Pak Ming's Lunar New Year films? He said, "No, I am already greeting the Lunar New Year, only less in recent years."

《娱乐》周星驰不理会爱钱言论 笑言与舒淇片场翻脸 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2k1wwDhyqiE#ws)

Wong Jing publicly criticized him and said that now Sing Yeh liked money more than movies. Shu Qi cracked up and said that the media often asked about gossip instead of the matter at hand. Sing Yeh asked when Wong Jing said that then took a jab at Wong Jing. "I like money, but I feel movies have to be well made in order to make money. You can't randomly make a movie and make money." Wong Jing meant that he has lost his passion for film. Sing Yeh said, "I am not too familiar with him, it's not convenient for me to comment too much." Did he mean that Wong Jing was nosy and should not have said what he said? He said, "I am not commenting, he and I are not too familiar." Wong Jing even said that the chance of them working together again was very slim. Sing Yeh smiled at the reporter who asked the question and said, "since you are so interesting he knowing, let me answer for you, I am not interested."

Did his former girlfriend Alice Yu Man Fung ask him for 70 million in commission only because they broke up? Shu Qi cracked up again, Sing Yeh kept shaking his head and said "No, no, no." Did Yu Man Fung ask for commission? Sing Yeh said, "I won't talk about this here." How was his relationship with Yu Man Fung now? He had no comment. Would they settle out of court? Did asking for money after the break up hurt? Sing Yeh said, "I won't talk about this here, I won't tell you." Would he leave it to the judge? He said yes. Was his mood to promote the film affected? He said, "No, (Would the lawsuit divert your attention?) This is very minor." Did he and Yu Man Fung break up over money? Shu Qi cracked up yet again. Sing Yeh said, "I already said don't ask, you still ask." As for his current love life, was he dating? He nodded. So he was dating? He looked at Shu Qi and wanted to use her as a shield. The media pointed out that Shu Qi already had someone with the same English name as his. Sing Yeh pretended that he did not know and asked Shu Qi, "Really? You are already with someone?" Shu Qi smiled but did not answer.

Many of Sing Yeh's female co-stars ended up at odds with him, was Shu Qi worried? She did not understand and asked why? Sing Yeh said that they were not at odds. "No, we are great." Did she privately dine with Sing Yeh? Was Sing Yeh who was madly praising her after her? Shu Qi quoted Sing Yeh, "I won't talk about this here, I am not telling you."

At the press conference the Shu Qi performed theme song music video was shown and video of Sing Yeh providing back up vocal for Shu Qi. They both covered their faces in embarrassment. Sing Yeh revealed that Shu Qi wanted to work with him and everyday kept encouraging him to perform. Shu Qi once brought back his self confidence, but later he saw Piggy's performance and was sunk to the bottom of the sea again. He also pointed out that his impression of Shu Qi was pretty and sexy with a lot of potential; Shu Qi smiled but did not speak. Sing Yeh again praised Shu Qi, "She is very cultured, she won't say such arrogant words. You are all witnesses!"

The Stephen Chow Sing Chi produced, directed and written, Shu Qi, Wen Zhang, Huang Bo and Chrissie Chau Sau Na starred JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) will be released on February 7 for the Lunar New Year film and on February 10 in the Mainland on the Lunar New Year's Day. Yesterday its stills and production special were unveiled.

In JOURNEY TO THE WEST, aside from the Shu Qi played demon taming heroine and Wen Zhang played Chen Xuanzang (young Venerable Monk Tang), the comedy team also had Sing Yeh's KUNG FU HUSTLE and CJ7 (CHEUNG GONG CHUT HO) classic support players Jiro Lee Seung Ching and Fung Min Hung as well as new additions like Huang Bo, Show Luo (Law Chi Cheung) and Chau Sau Na. Playing the Sand Monk, Lee Seung Ching also had to perform in the buff with Wen Zhang.

In the production special Sing Yeh was very attentive to Shu Qi. He personally demonstrated every stunt. In Shu Qi's fight against monsters Sing Yeh displayed his style. Shu QI and Huang Bo's dance scene also had a comedy feel. Sing Yeh also revealed that he played an important character for viewers to find.

When two generations of sexy stars Shu Qi and Chau Sau Na ran into each other, they held back their sexiness for comedy. Sister Na did not feel Sing Yeh was serious at all. She said, "Everyday was spent in laughter." Many compared the Huang Bo played Sun Wukong with Sing Yeh's in CHINESE ODYSSEY. Huang Bo said that this time Sun Wukong was not handsome. Because he was trapped for 500 years he was balding.

Stephen Chow Sing Chi yesterday promoted JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) in Taiwan with Show Luo (Law Chi Cheung). Piggy in the film guest starred as "Lonely Gentleman", which the host misread as "weak kidney gentleman". Because Sing Yeh thought it was funny, he added the idea of Piggy explaining that he did not have weak kidneys. Sing Yeh joked, "Because of his 'weak kidneys' we had to shoot all day. That day was wasted! However I believe in my own casting, Piggy truly is top notch!"

Piggy did not want to give people the impression that he was "impersonating Chow Sing Chi". Thus he gave 5 different impressions of each scene to Sing Yeh. Sing Yeh joked, "Because of that, during editing I thought every one was good. I didn't know how to choose."

Piggy worked on the film for 6 days. He as a fan asked how Sing Yeh maintained his skin. Sing Yeh said, "I don't know, I don't sleep, I don't have any abdominal muscle or chest muscle." Piggy said that Sing Yeh loved to act on the set. "When the crew accidentally broke something, he stood up and pretended to scold them. After yelling he would jokingly ask, 'Was I very angry before?'" Piggy already reserved a role in Sing Yeh's next film. He was even willing to play support.

Although Piggy did not have much screen time, he still had the benefit of Shu Qi leaning on his shoulder. Piggy did not dare to look at Shu Qi from the start because he thought her presence was too strong and her eyes were filled with acting. Shu Qi generously leaned on his shoulder anyway and started to act.

Sing Yeh was asked whether he would perform again. He joked, "You have watched it even times, of course you can't tell. You would be close if you watch 30 times or so, you have to seriously watch. One day you will find me, I am really in it." He took back his smile and seriously said, "I feel being on camera to me is too simple, directing is even more challenging. When I direct, I personally perform every character in every scene once to show them. I am not in it, but I am also completely in it. I put my most important 'soul' into the film."

[2013.01.25] STEPHEN CHOW DRAGS IN HUANG BO WHEN AKSED ABOUT HIS RUMOR WITH SHU QI

(http://t.imgbox.com/acivUIob.jpg) (http://imgbox.com/acivUIob) (http://t.imgbox.com/abkiqXX1.jpg) (http://imgbox.com/abkiqXX1)

The Stephen Chow Sing Chi directed film JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) stars Shu Qi. Sing Yeh was asked whether he was pursuing Shu Qi, he humorously said, "I of course have no problem with that, but Shu Qi has a problem with it!"

After 4 years without a film, the latest Chow Sing Chi directed film JOURNEY TO THE WEST will be released in the Lunar New Year. He spared no effort while promoting the film and did not mind promoting with rumors. He was asked that since the film's love story would end in tragedy as usual, did he like this format? He laughed and said, "My movie hopes to have such a dramatic difference." In his movies often the woman was after the man, he said, "Of course, only what can't be done in reality is fun in the movies!" As for his rumor with Shu Qi, Sing Yeh said, "I of course have no problem with that, only she has a problem with it. Stuff like this can't be one sided, it needs coordination from both sides." Was his fondness for Shu Qi very strong? He said, "Not just me, Huang Bo's fondness for her is not less than mine."

Sing Yeh's life without movies was very low key, he avoided the subject but still he had news about him turning his back on everyone. He said, "Right, because I don't know about some at all and don't see them. I usually don't pay attention to my own news, this is what happens in show business. In addition I have a lot I want to do, I won't do anything unimportant."

In addition, Wen Zhang who played the venerable Monk Tang in the film had emotional scenes with Shu Qi, but he often appeared as a strange, weird and unkempt exorcist. In the film he even had a heavy flavored pig kiss. Sing Yeh in order to comfort him arranged for a "wound treatment scene" so he and Shu Qi could have even more intimate contact.

Stephen Chow Sing Chi, Shu Qi, Chrissie Chau Sau Na, Show Luo (Law Chi Cheung) and Huang Bo two days ago attended the film JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) Beijing premiere press conference. Sing Yeh publicly expressed his love for Shu Qi, "My respect for Ms. Shu trickles endlessly like the river. I hope to wait until Ms. Shu is not so busy to express my love for her again." However Shu Qi did not accept Sing Yeh's love and said, "I admire and respect the director very much, I should be the one who asks whether I can express love for the director." Sing Yeh said, "I am afraid that you will never have time, then I have no chance." Shu Qi directly rejected Sing Yeh and said, "Then I hope to be always busy." In the film Shu Qi pursued Wen Zhang. In real life Shu Qi has never taken the initiative with any guy. However she said that if she ran into a good guy she would consider taking action. Sing Yeh revealed that he wanted a pretty girl to pursue him but he never ran into any. Thus he expressed that in the film.

Sister Na revealed that Sing Yeh bought her dumplings because in the film she had dance and exhaust her energy. Sing Yeh praised Sister Na's great figure, which would lead to nose bleeds; Sister Na said that when she saw Sing Yeh she too would have a nose bleed. Huang Bo as a comedy actor felt that if he did not work with Sing Yeh life would be less than perfect. Thus he agreed to play Sun Wukong right away. However, Sun Wukong's costume was too ugly. Huang Bo could not help but said, "Actually it wasn't the ugliest, it was just uglier than that. It was almost KUNG FU HUSTLE's Beast." Sing Yeh praised Piggy who played the lonely gentleman for his performance and his comedy. He said, "The important part is he is so handsome, just like when I was young." Piggy revealed that Sing Yeh did not sleep or take care of his skin. Sing Yeh said, "Why is all the attention always on my looks?"

The media screams, "Together" when Stephen Chow and Shu Qi perform a series of intimate gestures

Stephen Chow Sing Chi, Shu Qi, Chrissie Chau Sau Na promoted their Lunar New Year film JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) in Guangzhou. Sing Yeh continued to express his "love" for Shu Qi, said that Shu Qi was fire that never ceased in his heart. He arranged to put a "promise ring" on Shu Qi's finger and kiss her hand; Shu Qi bashfully kissed Sing Yeh's cheek. The atmosphere was romantic as the media screamed, "Together!" Sing Yeh joked, "I want her to kiss my mouth!"

Shu Qi heard everyone screamed "together" and bashfully said, "I haven't been with him, I don't know how romantic he would be overall." Sing Yeh did not pass up the chance. "Then let's be together for awhile!" Although Shu Qi had no comment for his expression of love, Sing Yeh did not give up. "In life you have to keep failing and keep standing up again. Like SHAOLIN SOCCER, she is the fire that never ceases in my heart." He also explained the love behind JOURNEY TO THE WEST. "It's not a simple love story, it is a love story that experiences life, death, explosion and excitement."

Chau Sau Na earlier posed for Mainland media's JOURNEY TO THE WEST theme Monkey King and Bandit photos. She showed off her shoulders and legs on her Monkey King photo, but she posed when the Beijing temperature reached 2 degrees below zero Celsius. Despite the heat in the studio and 5 heaters around her, the chilling wind still blew in and gave her goose bumps. Sister Na admired Sing Yeh's Monkey King the most. He was loving, loyal and full of emotions.

Stephen Chow kisses Shu Qi at the Hong Kong premiere to prevent accusation of Mainland media favoritism

Stephen Chow Sing Chi, Shu Qi and Chrissie Chau Sau Na two nights ago attended the JOURNEY TO THE WEST (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN) premiere. Shu Qi denied that she and Stephen Fung Tak Lun were secretly married in the U.S. Sing Yeh denied that he was at odds with co-director Derek Kwok Chi Kin. He pointed out that he had so many to worry about that he did not have time to be at odds. Shu Qi and Sister Na said that on the set they did not sense any unpleasantness between Sing Yeh and Kwok Chi Kin.

Shu Qi and Fung Tak Lun were rumored to be secretly married in the U.S. Shu Qi was asked if it was true. She sarcastically said, "Yes! We even had two sons, when you have time you can go to the U.S. and investigate." Was she upset about the rumor? She said, "Not much to be upset about, it's pretty interesting." Were she and Fung Tak Lun dating or already married? She said, "I am going back to talk about the movie today, in the movie I am a good girl." Sing Yeh hoped that Shu Qi would give him more opportunities for them to be together. Shu Qi said that Sing Yeh did not give her any time. She even whined, "Earlier when I asked you to dinner you said you had to edit the film. For the Lunar New Year you said you would go overseas." Was Sing Yeh one of her boyfriend choices? She said, "Of course." Sing Yeh asked her what was good about him. She said, "Humorous, talented, cute, the idol of many, he is beyond my reach."

Once Sing Yeh's rumored girlfriend, Luisa Lai Chi San said that Sing Yeh while promoting in the Mainland kissed Shu Qi. Thus he had to be fair at the Hong Kong premiere as well. Shu Qi immediately pretended to kiss and wipe her mouth, then per reporters' requests, Sing Yeh kissed Shu Qi twice and made Shu Qi blush.

When asked whether Shu Qi and Fung Tak Lun's rumored secret marriage was a big setback for him, Sing Yeh said, "I really don't know. When you ask this I too am stunned a little." He was rumored to be at odds with another director Kwok Chi Kin. Sing Yeh hesitated and said, "No, don't ask me, ask Kwok Chi Kin. I was very busy with a lot during the shoot, I didn't even have time to be at odds!" Shu Qi and Sister Na did not sense that they were at odds and said that the set was very harmonious. Shu Qi even said, "When gossip news is treated as a serious problem, constant clarification is quite a bother!" As for Tin Kai Man calling Sing Yeh cheap, only giving him a tee shirt after knowing him for such a long time and even asking him to take Sing Yeh and others to the movies in return, Sing Yeh played dumb and said, "Where did you hear that from, I don't remember anymore. Ask Tin Gai, I really don't know."

2月6日,《西游.降魔篇》在港举行首映礼,舒淇周秀娜性感亮相。活动上,舒淇遭周星驰主动两次亲脸。舒淇指周星驰是男友人选,大数他的优点,但是她高攀不起。

Sister Na dressed conservatively and denied that she was forfeiting. She said that Shu Qi was the sexy goddess of her heart, she could only be the water snake next to Shu Qi. She even revealed that Sing Yeh gave her the nickname "Pineapple Bun", crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. However Sing Yeh did not pursue her. Sister Na joked, "If he was after someone it wouldn't be me!"

Tin Kin Man who was rumored to be at odds with Sing Yeh appeared in support. The recovering Cheung Tat Ming attended with his wife and son. He said that he was still not completely cured, but the toxin has reached zero. His right arm was still less mobile than before, as he awaited for the nerves to grow anew.

WHOA. had no idea Cheung Tat Ming...one of Stephen Chow's buddies (see his late 90s flicks). GOD SPEED! He's one of Hong Kong's funniest actors.

what an interesting story how he influenced Teresa Mo's acting career.

Quote
Back during the early days of her career, Teresa once played the character of Lin Dai Yu (林黛玉) [from the famous novel Dream of the Red Chamber], however at the time, she was criticized for being ‘wooden’ and not having Lin Dai Yu’s characteristic ‘sickly beauty’. In reality though, Teresa can’t be more opposite than the characters she used to portray – she is the type of person who understands how to have fun and especially enjoys joking around. The ‘turning point’ in her career came in 1989 -- while filming TVB series The Justice of Life (他來自江湖), Teresa was ‘inspired’ by fellow co-star Stephen Chow (周星馳) and after that, she started going on the ‘comedic’ path in her acting career, with later representative works playing funny, tomboy-like characters.

Stephen Chow’s ‘Category III’ dialogue

When she started her acting career 30 years ago (1970s), Teresa Mo epitomized the ‘jade girl’ image, as she often portrayed refined, pure wholesome characters in both modern as well as ancient drama series: at Rediffusion Television [ATV’s predecessor] she was often paired with Leslie Cheung (張國榮) in series with sweet, ‘puppy love’ relationship storylines and later, when she joined Commercial Television [now defunct], she played Lin Dai Yu. After she joined TVB in the early 1980s, her career path pretty much continued in the same direction – that is, until she met actor Stephen Chow and collaborated with him in 1989’s anniversary series The Justice of Life. The experience helped Teresa tap into her comedic potential and after that, she went on to become one of the HK television and movie industry’s rare, highly coveted comedic actresses.

“Filming that series with Stephen was the first time that I became interested in comedy. I definitely learned a lot while filming with him – comedic rhythm, expressions, grasping comedic timing, etc. I discovered that I actually had comedic potential as well – it was a good start for me!”

Stephen Chow has a penchant for changing dialogue in scripts – not just his own, but also the dialogue of those filming the same scenes with him. Teresa admits that this ‘habit’ of his actually helped her acting career, as the ‘special training’ she received from him helped her refine her skills.

“He’s actually more suited for movies because a lot of the dialogue he comes up with is the ‘Category III’ type that would never pass television censors. The interesting thing is that sometimes he would come up with dialogue for us too and would try to persuade us to say it. I remember when we were filming The Justice of Life, there was a segment of the story where his character is pursuing me and so always tries to buy interesting stuff for me to eat – one time he bought a sausage and instead of saying what was in the script, he wanted me to say something else…I told him I won’t say it because it can’t be aired on TV. Another time, he bought something else and ad-libbed some ‘colorful’ dialogue to go along with it – I told him that stuff won’t pass either, but he told me not to be concerned with it and to just say my lines and he’ll respond accordingly. This would happen all the time and we often didn’t know if we should laugh or cry at his ‘creativity’! One thing’s for sure though – every time we’d watch the playback of the scenes together, we’d laugh like crazy!”

After filming those 30 episodes, Teresa slowly went from being overly reserved and cautious with her acting to being more open and less restrained. She came to realize that there was a ‘different’ way of doing comedy – it was like learning to ride a bicycle and finally finding a way to keep yourself balanced.

I'm the only Sing Yeh fan?

Been rewatching old Stephen Chow TV shows. Like "The Justice of Life" 他來自江湖 (http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%BB%96%E4%BE%86%E8%87%AA%E6%B1%9F%E6%B9%96) and DAMN found so many more good gems.

CHOI SUN DOH!!

I love the love-hate relationship he has with Ng Man Tat, the beginning of their many collabos. The Stephen Chow being the father at times, the gag where Sing Yeh hums the 'Once Upon A Time in China' theme and his dad does Tai Chi automatically, which became orgasming or humping something in movies like 'Tricky Brains' and his God of Gambler spoofs.

NGO S LAY GAH Y!!

There were many recurring gags to be seen in his movies. Like the mass beating he laid on his future wife, Chi 芝 (Cutie Mui) and he would go "HEY! I went easy on you." - repeated in "Tricky Brains"

AND there was this one scene where he was talking about this cartoon, and some random guy was like "Hey! I watch it too. Let me borrow the tape." it would be the show's director, Lee Lik-chi (李力持) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Lik-chi) - Sing Yeh's collaborator on many of his hits - in a cameo

LMFAO and this other scene where he was in thee gangsta washroom and overheard shit going down. AND the toilet paper rolled out and he ended up with a square on his finger tip. THEN there was no water. Then he goes back to the office and everyone is like trying to shake his hand and he's like avoiding, using his other hand XD but then they grab his unwashed hand WTH

and he managed to work with beauties that go on to blow up the SPOT like the above mentioned Teresa Mo and DAMN model legs for days...Canny Leung 梁芷珊

you might remember Stephen as the chauffeur to her as Anthony Wong's mob boss wife, he crushing on Canny

WHOA ASS well, she went on to bigger and better things: known as the Hong Kong one of the "Big Four talented woman. author, host, etc. more than a pretty face!!! Explains why she was such a stiff actor, better at moving and shaking the business WORLD! ain't it great, your flight leaves at 8! (http://www.bma.com.hk/directors.php?id=2) shit she needs mo' research.
