Finally, HKT48 launched.

Location: Fukuoka Audition
submissions dates: May 1st to May 31st.
Qualifications: 11 to 22 year old women
Theatre: Hawks Town

This feels really sudden, especially after they just added NMB!! I guess considering how much exposure NMB is getting, I guess it makes sense somehow. If there are a bunch of awesome girls like Shiichan, Nattsumii, Mariko-sama, Sasshi, Umechan, Yukirin, etc. still undiscovered in Kyushuu I guess this will bring them to our attention.

I wonder if some girls from Okinawa will make it to the auditions. Seems a longshot though due to the travel and b/c Okinawa already has that school that produced SPEED, Amuro, etc.

Actually, there was talk about HKT48 long before NMB48 and maybe even before SKE48 existed. I'm surprised it took this long!

But yeah, Aki-P's going mad. Somehow his 'aggressive' market strategy seems to play off though..

I recall hearing about HKT48 plans a while back but to decide to start auditions not even a year after NMB feels sudden considering it took longer for the other groups to be announced. It's like "I still don't know a lot of the SKE girls much less the NMB ones that aren't on TV" and then they go and do this.

Just imagining what effect this might have on future Kouhaku appearances, never mind what next year's senbatsu election might be like.

At the very least, hopefully Star Hime Sagashi Taro will stop showing those Asian Spice Girl wannabees and that guy group when auditions start.

HKT's black and white logo looks so much colder and distant than SKE's yellow one or NMB's leopard one... maybe they'll be a cool and bad-ass group instead of a cute one

Abe, Ueki and Fukagawa catch my eye...

...but a lot of these girls are from 1997~1999

Best of luck to them, but I'll stick with my precious SKE48 (and AKB48) for the time being.

There's some real cuties in the group

I almost don't want to be drawn in by them cause it's hard enough trying to follow AKB and SKE what with all the girls they have and the ton of shows they have. But the problem is, I can see myself getting won over.

I'll be really curious to see what their first single/PV is like to see what sort of style they are given. I'm actually kinda excited to see what we get
