^I remember that vid  XD Those Caparison guitars look sweet. I wold love to try one. The guy from Arch Enemy has a similar one. Epic tones.

Thanks for the list, I'll check out the ones I haven't heard of.

I like Gus G. He seems like a nice dude and he has great vibrato and pinch harmonics as well. Love this lick:

Gus G- Betcha can't play this

I'd also like to add Michael Romeo and Shawn Lane to the list. This lick is also epic:

Michael Romeo: Sea of Lies

And you probably know MAB:

Michael Angelo Batio 4 Guitars

 He's good, but completely uninteresting imo. Maybe a bit entertaining because it's the top.

You like Caparisons?  8)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v393/Code001/Guitar/IMG_1112.jpg

It's from the second year Caparison started out as a company.  They didn't make them long in this finish.  Ironically, it's the hardest finish to take a picture of.   Hell, it was only recently that they brought back the TATs.  Chris Amott played a blue version of this during the first half of his career with Arch Enemy before he got his custom signature model.  I bought it with EMGs, but I've replaced them with a PH-R/Cool Rails/Hot Rails.

Romeo is just fucking sick.  He'll be shredding it up and not even break a sweat.  I really dislike MAB, but the guy can definitely play.

Damn, this is turning into a guitar wankery thread. XD

...

Crystalic - Severe Punishment

Local group, went to school with the lead guitarist. He was always a big Death fan, can hear it in the music.

...

Speaking of which...

Death - Lack of comprehension

More old fave songs.

[Caparison pics]

No... fucking... way.

I'm so jealous right now  XD They're almost impossible to get here. I've never even touched one.

I own some Fender Japan models (strat and katakana, the flying V one, from 1985!) and and ESP V. And a Washburn, the one used by Emppu from Nightwish, but it needs upgrades. I used to be into the EMG81s and the Dimarzio Evolution, but lately I'm getting more interested in the Seymour Duncan pickups.

I'll write some more later, but I really g2g  :P

I also dig Dragonforce. I always get crap for that but I think they're fun and innovative. They cleaned up their act in a live situation as well! I was here -->

Dragonforce / Heroes Of Our Time

That opening solo is insane XD

\m/ Death \m/

Florida Death Metal

Obituary - Cause Of Death

BarrieV, Chris Amott has a signature Caparison Dellinger.  It's pretty much a stock Dellinger with a fancy graphic, thicker neck and Hot Rails in the neck/middle.  His old Iceberg was a TAT (stands for Through and Through).  It's a neck-thru guitar with alder wings.  I've owned over 15 guitars, but I only have 5 at the moment, and only 4 of them are actually playable (the 5th one being a POS Squier that was my first guitar.  Can't sell it because it's such a POS).  Right now, it's the TAT, RG1527, Fender Classic Floyd Rose Strat and ESP M-II.

Hopefully we don't derail this thread too much by talking about guitar gear.  XD

To make up for it, MORE METAL!

Mors Principium Est - Orsus & The Oppressed Will Rise

Mercenary — 11 Dreams

Eucharist - Mirrorworld

Edge Of Sanity - Crimson II 1/7

Electric Wizard - Funeralopolis

And before I forget, Lane was a god amongst men.  A seriously ridiculous musician who'll be missed in the guitar world.

Also, I agree that you should get shit for liking Dragonforce.  :D If you want a band like that, listen to Powerglove:

Powerglove - So sexy robotnik

Powerglove - Mario Minor

lol, Powerglove is awesome!  XD

ok, less gear talk, more METAL!

Sepultura - Arise - Rock in Rio 3

Slayer - Hell Awaits (Live Studio 54 NYC 1985

I always liked Kittie, even though their playing and songs aren't that interesting

Kittie - Charlotte (HQ) - Video

I always liked this vid, even though I'm not into emperor. I like how you can see the passion in his face when he sings  XD

Emperor - I Am The Black Wizards

I'll pretend I didn't see that Kittie video and move on.  XD  This post, I'll just stick to one letter of the alphabet.  I'm trying to get the lesser known bands out there.

Carcariass - Watery Grave

Circus Maximus - Abyss

Coldworker - Citizens of the Cyclopean Maze

Control Denied - Consumed

Some good examples of guitar shredding, and that's all well and good, but now I think it's time to bring a little percussion into play. Most notably with another favourite metal band of mine, Mastodon and their drummer, Brann Dailor. The drums for 'The Wolf Is Loose' is near orgasmic

The Wolf Is Loose

Bang A Gong

 I've seen those kids before.  They're pretty good for being so young.

decapitated - spheres of madness

The world lost a great drummer when Vitek died.  The fact that he was 14 when he wrote this is ridiculous.

Slayer - Killing Fields

I got into Slayer around the time Divine Intervention was released, and it's my fave Slayer album along with Reign In Blood. I was always digging Paul Bostaph's drumming on it.

I didn't really get into Slayer until around South of Heaven.  I'm not a huge fan of them, but except for Diabolus, they're fairly consistent, and they pretty much defined the thrash genre.  My favorite album by them is South of Heaven, followed by Reign in Blood.

Here's some more thrash:

Terror 2000-Crypt of Decay-Slauhterhouse Supremacy

Kreator - Enemy Of God

Blacklist -- Exodus

Whiplash - Red Bomb

Gawd, would it just leak already? Obfuscation is feeling lonely in my playlist, it could use some friends.

Divinity recently finished recording their new album "The Singularity," and it'll be out in December.  Check out one of the completed tracks:

http://www.soullessdesign.com/divinity/03_Lay_in_the_Bed_Youve_Made.mp3

www.myspace.com/divinitymetal

I know the one guitarist, so I'm trying to support them.  8)  Amazingly, the album's concept is similar to the concept I'm doing with my solo album.  Go figure.     For the geeks out there, they used an Axe-Fx w/ a DI and re-amped it with a 5150 III + a Mesa cab.  Cleans, effects, weird noises, etc. are all Axe-Fx.  Guitars were an EBMM JP BFR 7 and a Blackmachine 7.  You can get more info if you search the Andy Sneap forum.

BrokeBands.com - Divinity Guitar Recording

He's got such a heavy picking hand...  I have no clue how he doesn't knock his guitars out of tune.  :huhuh

^That's pretty cool! Clean and tight, excellent!

Speaking of local friends; I sometimes hang-out with the drummer from Textures:

Textures - Ostensibly Impregnable

Not a big fan of the vocals, but they are known for their unusual rhythms.

His B7 is actually a special one, too.  He got it a long time ago, and the body wood is some 40+ year old mahogany instead of the normal Swamp Ash.

New band I'm currently listening to:

CENTAURUS-A - The Praying Mantis

It's not every day that you see a tech death guitarist rocking a goldtop LP.  8)
