PART 20
MATSUURA - JULY 9TH
I've noticed that sometimes in life, things suddenly seem to go in slow motion. Everything will be going along like normal and then you notice something and you can't do anything to stop it, but it seems like you're watching it at half-speed.
Ah, so this is one of those times..., I remember thinking to myself as Yossy slapped me across the face. Her eyes went really wide right before her hand made contact with my cheek and she immediately clapped her hands over her mouth afterwards. I sank to the floor in more shock than anything else.
"I am so sorry," Yossy gasped, squatting down next to me. I glared at her.
"Ayaya! Are you ok!?" Abe exclaimed behind us.
"Does this mean I get to knee you in the crotch now?" I asked with a sly grin. Yossy laughed a little.
"You'd have to clear that with Miki first," she retorted as she took a hold of my chin and examined my cheek critically. I could feel my face start to flush a little. Our eyes locked briefly and she quickly dropped her hand. "Sorry," she muttered and abruptly stood back up.
"Everything ok?" Abe asked, helping me up off the floor. I flashed her a Matsuura Aya Idol-Wattage smile.
"Great!" I replied. "I was just giving her a hard time." Abe flashed back her own Idol-Wattage smile. Yossy looked at the pair of us and shook her head.
"From the top again?" she asked.
"Uh, why don't we take it from after we stop beating on each other?" I suggested, rubbing my slightly sore cheek thoughtfully.
"I'm sorry!" Yossy groaned, walking back to her spot. "I thought it was left-right!"
"It IS left-right!" I laughed, getting into place myself.
"...what did I do then?"
"Left-left."
"Crap."
"Did that bleach go to your brain?" I asked, gesturing at her freshly-dyed blonde hair.
"Ok!" Abe broke in before Yossy could respond. "From the harmony part?" We nodded. "Ok! My count. 1! 2! 3! 4!"
We started bopping back and forth, swinging our arms and doing our best imitation of the original singers.
"100% kataomoi!" Abe sang.
"Baby I love you so, suki suki baby!" Yossy and I harmonized as we bopped along, doing suggestive hand gestures. A clock on the wall chimed loudly, stopping us all mid-bop.
"Is it 6 already!?" Yossy exclaimed, hurrying over to grab her purse. "I'm sorry, I've got to go. I have an Ongaku Gatas rehearsal in 30 minutes."
"But the Music Fair taping's next week!" Abe protested. Yossy groaned and paused in the open doorway.
"I'll be back as soon as I can, ok?" She made an apologetic face. "I'm really sorry, Abe. I didn't plan this very well."
"No, you didn't, Yocchan!" Abe mock-scolded with a smile. Yossy grinned and started out the door.
"Yossy!" I called. She turned and looked at me expectantly. I smiled and threw her cell phone at her. She caught it neatly and stowed it away in her pocket, winking at me in the process.
"Thanks, Aya!" she called as she left the room.
"100% kataomoi indeed," I mused to myself, staring after Yossy's retreating figure.
"What was that?" Abe asked slowly. I could feel her staring at me.
"Nothing."
