I'm nowhere close to being a baseball historian, but the Ichiro-era in Seattle was great, personally. After Griffey left, we were blessed with another athletic freak of nature. He came, and the 116 game season followed. Sadly we didn't win it all, plus that was Ichiro's only postseason appearance.

As for my fellow Seattlites/Ichiro-lovers, I think Ichiro has earned himself the Steve Nash Corollary (its the most current name I can think of for it). Like Nash, Ichiro stayed with a team for much longer than he probably should have. Stuck with it through thick and thin. Reports I'm reading say that he requested a trade, so he gave himself an opportunity to play for a contender -- Nash goes to the Lakers, Ichiro being traded to the Yankees -- after dedicated much of his prime to a team. He earned himself a chance to win a ring.

I don't cheer for the Yankees, cause its the Yankees, but I'll cheer for Ichiro. I'll miss him in the Mariner blue.

^ I'm glad we got to see his ass in the flesh together, Bro.

Ichiro to the friggin' YANKEES?!! Holy fucking shit!

Get that Ring, Ichiro! This may be your last chance for one...

HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS RIGHT~! when Ping txt'd me like what the fuck/ I never thought he'd chase the ring type, super loyalty to the M's so this threw me off. But mad respects to him, he can tighten up that order batting 8th haha that'll change fast. He's not the same player as before but timely knocks aplenty!!!

Just weird man. AND at Safeco. Bernie Williams keeping his number eh lol

Gojira Matsui released by the Rays.

Hope he's not stubborn enough not to end his playing career back in NPB.  He'll always have the record in BOTH leagues for "Largest Porn Collection."

Dodgers big favorite for the World Champion, I'm not a big fan of them but with two Hawaii players and their roster is stacked :D

Dickey wins 20th
« Reply #1873 on: September 28, 2012, 01:04:53 AM »
Glad that R.A. Dickey got the magic "20" underneath the "W" column.  I think he might have the NL Cy locked up.

Maybe, except those calls for Kimbrel still pop up here and there. Bizzare, but not totally unexpected.

Dammit Rangers!

LOL!  Nolan Ryan couldn't do it as a player and he still can't do it as an owner.  They only needed just one win and they blew it against the A's.  "LET'S GO OAKLAND!!!!"

Heh, I think Craig Ochoa would've made a better call.

Giants came back to win the series over the Reds

I have a feeling that the experience teams are in control of the series and it is beginning to show

Yanks, Tigers, Giants, and Cards

Never can count out any team

Yeah, that was an impressive win by the Giants.  To lose the first two at home and then come back and sweep the Reds in their ballpark is just incredible.  I watched the game while eating lunch at my university's "Union" building and got to see Posey's grand slam to make it 6-0.  But after I saw Matt Cain struggle (and finished my lunch then), I decided to "watch" the MLB.com Gameday.  I kinda wished I went back to the "Union" and watched Romo's punchout of Rolen (the man who screwed the Reds in Game 3) since I wanted to go nuts.  I wanted that feel (meme alert) of Romo blowing a high-80s fastball right by Rolen to seal the win.
